(+) Arranging for the moving to come was easy, and the quote was reasonable (for moving early June). (-) Getting a parking permit was a problem. I provided parking meter numbers over a month in advance to get a parking permit, but was told that the space was already reserved - a second set was provided and was also reported as unavailable. Come moving day, however, there were no signs on the meters anywhere near the apartment, and the movers had to park over a block away, adding significant time to the process. (+) Luckily, the movers were great, moving quickly and up two flights of stairs, and placing heavy furniture and boxes full of books in the correct rooms according to labels. (-) A few items were dinged, and some plastic boxes cracked, but nothing major (or worth holding up the movers to check for additional damage). Overall, I would recommend these movers, but get the parking permit well in advance through them, or else get it yourself. read more

They help me move all my belongs from 4th floor to the ground efficiently and quickly, although our elevator at my former apartment broke down suddenly today. I heard about Precision on Yelp, and would recommend them without hesitation. But I'd also warn you that they are not exactly inexpensive. I used them in March to move a small 1 bedroom apartment worth of my belongings from Boston (4th floor) to Brookline (3rd floor). I was quoted a rate of $125 an hour for three movers and a large truck, but the move still ended up costing me just over $500 for slightly less than 3 hours of work (that's before tips). They charge their full rate per hour, plus fuel, for their travel time, which tacked on another $125 to my bill. So be sure to read the fine print. I got my permits myself (it would cost considerably more to have them do it), and my move was in the middle of the month (off-peak). It is a little hard to complain too much, because they do do a great job, which includes wrapping your furniture up in cloth pads, and they have mattress bags on hand and don't over charge you for them. It is hard to find decent, honest and professional movers, and Precision are just that. But there is no bargain for quality here. After they were finished, I handed each of the three movers a $20 bill as a tip, and they didn't even say "Thank you". I guess they were hoping for more. I am not sure how their moving skills are but their driving skills are horrendous. Making a right turn out of a left lane (while on the phone) in front of busy Copley Square, almost slamming into our driver side door causing a traffic issue and then flipping my husband off. If that is how they drive with no discretion to human life then I can only imagine how they treat personal belongings. I chose this company based on the reviews and it was a mistake. I have moved locally 3 times in the past 10 yrs and each time have also had the company pack some or all of my things. Precision was the most expensive and did the worst job. The packers were terrible- they clearly did not want to be there and literally just went room by room throwing things in boxes, mixing fragile papers and artwork with lamps and fans, etc. The moving crew was better but most of my furniture was dinged up in the process. On the positive side-several of the movers were great guys-hard-working and personable, and Jennifer, the owner, is responsive and professional. She clearly cares about maintaining the reputation of her company and will try to ensure that you have a better experience. read more

I hired Precision movers for a move from a storage unit in Brighton to an apartment in Cambridge and I am sooooo glad I chose them. My initial contact was through email with Jennifer and she was very efficient about quoting my move and responding to my million questions so I chose them based on the reviews here on Yelp and my interactions with her. I definitely did the right thing!!! I didn't have a very big storage unit and she suggested 2 men and a truck and it was the perfect fit. The two guys (I'm sorry I forgot their names) were punctual to a T and so efficient it was really mind boggling to watch how they handled all my stuff so quickly and carefully. They were also very polite and friendly and explained the contract clearly. No time was wasted and all was packed thoughtfully into the truck. They arrived at the new apartment in a reasonable amount of time and had the whole thing unpacked and in my apartment in a flash. I also noticed that they were very mindful to not cause any damage to the building or elevator as they carted stuff in and they were also very mindful of how and where they placed each item as they brought it in. All in all hiring Precision was the best decision to help make moving as easy as possible. Their rates were very fair, in fact on the low side going by the places that I called, and they came in under the quoted time. Also, they will give you a discount of 5% if you pay in cash. Forget dragging your own stuff into a U-Haul and hire Precision..... no one really wants to help you move, even if you bribe them with food, so just get the professionals to get it done quickly and spare your back and the back of your friends! The single worst movers with whom I have ever dealt. You do not have to be a victim. File a claim with the NY AG ... information listed at the bottom of post. This company goes by so many names ... Precision Mini-Warehouse & Storage, A Affiliated A Precision Moving, Precison Mini-Storage & Warehouse, Precision Moving & Storage, Bronx, NY, Precision Movers; Boston, MA, Somerville, MA, and Hunts Point, NY and 11-18 Longwood Ave., 1118 Longwood Ave ... THEY ARE ALL THE SAME and they all deserve a NEGATIVE RATING. The phone numbers all get funneled to one call/sales center. If you saw the "storage" warehouse, it would make you sick. I called Precision movers in Boston, MA and received an email from Jeff Schmid. It was to be a simple, easy move. All they had to do was to pick up 50 boxes/items from a furnished home I was leasing, and 5 vaults of household items stored 38 miles away at a local moving company's warehouse. He asked for a credit card number in order to "schedule the move." The movers arrived 8 hours late, spoke broken Russian/English, demanded a credit card for $800 deposit and a tip, and then left for the other warehouse ... or so I thought. Instead, they spent the night, ate dinner and breakfast, for which I was billed to me and then picked up the items at the local mover's warehouse the next day. I was promised 30 days free storage until I had the exact address to which I was moving. [Note: I had to pay for my belongings to be put on the (other) warehouse floor two times (two consecutive days) at the 2nd pick-up.] I was on an interstate when Susan Leaflan, the strong-armed, henchperson from Precision overs called me and demanded to be paid IN FULL, with either cash or wire transfer immediately at DOUBLE the price quoted. I said no. She harassed me called from the toll-free and the 718 area code non-stop telling me that I would not get my belongings back unless I paid them right then. I told her to immediately turn the truck around and unload my items. She refused. Then, I found out that my stuff went to the Bronx, NY, not to Somerville, MA! Susan wanted me to state, ON THE SPOT, if I wanted to go by cubic feet or weight ... before it went into the warehouse because she said I had lied about how much stuff I had. Not true! I had exactly what I said I had which has been confirmed by the Mayflower agent. In actuality, I had over-"guestimated," so there would be no surprises. Susan continued to call every half hour for days, non-stop demanding payment and threatening not to return my belongings. I stopped answering the phone when her numbers appeared. They continued to harass me, so another person intervened on my behalf. Susan Leaflan continued to be rude, would put him on hold, or hang up on him. So, we contacted another mover, John Reynolds @ Colonial Mayflower, an agent for Mayflower/United, to go and pick up my belongings. Not only did they get the proverbial "runaround," but they went twice with a truck and crew of three menand were unable to retrieve my items with excuses by Precision of elevators not working, men left early, and when Mayflower arrived early, they were told the men arrived late. I can only conclude that they would try to extort more money from me if I crossed the "free storage for 30-day threshold." Perhaps they would have held me up for an additional $1500-$5000 additional expense. Finally, we contacted the Detectives in the Hunts Point Police Department, NY (Tel: 718-293-2221) for assistance. We were told that if Precision did not release my belongings that day, that the Mayflower agent should call 9-1-1 and the police would assist. It's illegal! Mayflower was successful on the 3rd attempt only to discover that the boxes were ripped open (resealed with duct tape!), liquor bottles emptied, bookcases broken, vintage pinball machine standing on its side, metal gouging the wooden items, mattresses and upholstered furniture dragged over grease and asphalt in inclement weather and put out on the sidewalk next to the street. Mayflower documented the mini-craphouse/warehouse where my stuff was taken, the trucks, and the condition of my belongings in 50+ photos. Items are missing and all contents were checked against prior inventories, damage was documented, items were re-packed, and a new inventory was created, with discrepancies noted. Precision REFUSED to sign a release of the discrepancies. Everything stated above is documented and verified by third- and fourth-party witnesses. I am out many thousands of dollars. Please do something. Take pictures and file a claim: Attorney General - Eric T. These guys are awesome!! As with most moves you dread that day for so many reasons but right at the top of list is your stuff getting damaged. Luckily, because we went with Precision Moving, everything arrived at our place perfectly. And they were EXTREMELY accommodating and efficient about picking up our stuff from both a storage unit and a city apartment before heading to the 'burbs. All of the guys were experienced and knew just how to handle certain pieces of furniture without damaging them or running up the clock. These guys just moved me last weekend, and I was blown away by how good they were. Everyone I talked to there was extremely nice and professional. They saved me a bundle by selling me used boxes, and their website contained a lot of useful packing and moving information. On moving day, they showed up with an extra mover, but did the move in half their estimated time, meaning that I paid on the low-end of their estimated range. The movers were polite and attentive whenever I gave them instructions about where to put a box or set up a piece of furniture. This is an unusual review - I am giving Precision Moving Co. 5 stars and I didn't even get to use them! I had my move with them fully planned, and then Hurricane Sandy came in and wreaked havoc on everything. I had to change my move date due to the hurricane and my new place not being available yet, and these guys were very understanding and helpful while I tried to work out the logistics. These guys were on time and worked hard, one of them actually ran up the stairs on each trip. Not the biggest guys but certainly capable and much faster than your average mover. They bill by the hour and their rates are pretty good but they bill you for the trip to and from their home base (regardless of whether they are coming from a block away or actually starting from their base) and won't quote this part in advance. They managed a tough move with very few of the typical dings and scratches associated with moving. read more

I called Precision Movers after a friend recommended them to me and could not have been happier with the service I received. They arrived at my apartment on time and were very friendly and personable. They quickly moved all of our belongings, including a giant roll-top desk, down from a 5th floor apartment (with a very old, finicky elevator for help). Upon arrival to the new house, they unpacked the entire truck and set up the desk in what must have been 30 or 45 minutes. They came in right at their estimate (which was lower than the other estimates I received) and the entire move was complete in about 3.5 hours. We're not planning on moving anytime soon, but I will recommend Precision Movers to everyone who asks as well as call them again myself when the time comes. read more

In May 2012, we used this company to move from 2 bedroom elevator apartment in Burlington to a 2 bedroom first floor apartment in Andover. When they did the initial 'what do you have' to give us a quote over the phone, it included almost double what they actually ended up moving. In an effort to shave off some of the estimate, we rented a uhaul and moved 1/2 of the stuff ourselves. Meaning, the estimate should've gone down signficantly. When the 3 movers showed up to move us, they even commented asking 'where's the rest' and 'this won't take long' and joke about finishing way early and not telling their boss. At first they were packing things up quickly, but then they started dragging their feet. I would watch as, with each new load to the truck, they sat around the truck talking for a good 10-15 minutes between each trip. I don't know why the 3rd guy even came. He picked up a few boxes, but for the most part, just stood on the truck and was worthless with helping with the actual move. Since they were moving during lunch time, I bought them pizza. I'm a nice person. I expeced they could scoff it down during their many 10-15 minute breaks. Instead, they took an 1.5 hour break. I have no idea where they went or if they were just sitting in their truck the whole time. All I know, is that I paid dearly for being nice enough to give them pizza. I understand people need lunch breaks--but I shouldn't have to pay for it. Especially not a 1.5 hour one. When we got to Andover for them to unload, the same thing--the 3rd guy basically did nothing. There were some non heavy items he could've helped unloa to help speed things up, but he just about never steppe off the truck. They also continued to take 10-15 minute breaks with every trip to the truck. It was annoying. In the end, the drug it out so that it took the same amount of hours the initially quoted, but they only moved 1/2 the amount that quote was suppose to cover. Even with the movers themselves commenting on how it 'wouldn't take long', they certainly knew how to drag it out and milk the clock. When I called the office to find out why it still took the same amount of time and $$ even after I'd done 1/2 the work for them before they got there, I was given some bs non answer about how the other stuff wouldn't have taken all that long. Funny that the 3 movers certainly thought the lack of the other half of stuff meant it wouldn't take long. I started off with high hopes for this company. I read the reviews and expected things to go smoothly. Had they been honest and actually not drug their feet to ensure they milked the clock for every last minute the original quote called for, I wouldn't still be pissed almost 2 years later. I'm moving again. Instead of getting a repeat customer, my new move just reminded me how much my experience with them sucked and motivated me to leave a review for others. read more

Moving made easy! Precision was great from the start. Easy to obtain a quote and book services. Love their offer of free used box pick-up - talk about saving money on your move! We must have taken 40-50 of them, and have paid it forward by dropping them back off again. On the day of the move, our 3 guys - Jimmy, Gadi, & Z - showed up, navigated our tricky city side street and moved our 2BR 2BA plus basement storage unit to our single family home in the burbs. The truck was packed safely and securely, with furniture wrapped in blankets and taped, items secured. Everything made it to their respective room/location as directed in the new house, and all in one piece and undamaged. All in, from the time they left their warehouse until we signed off on the final paperwork, this was done in just about 6 hours. They were fast, professional, and personable! I would recommend them over and over again. Moving is a headache, and expensive. I've done it a dozen times, and after this experience, would never do it on my own again. I have used Precision movers twice now, and I would recomend them to anyone. I just used them last weekend for a move from a 3rd floor walk up to another 3rd floor walk up, and they were so fast and profesional It took them less than 3 hours. They were very careful with my stuff (even my old already scratched and dented furniture was wrapped carefully).The new apartment wasn't completly ready for a move in, so everything from the old apartment had to be squeezed into one small bedroom, but they were able to arrange it just right so that it all fit in. Wow, Precision Movers are AWESOME!!! We moved today from an apartment in Waltham to a house in Burlington and they made the process easy and not stressful. Our 3 man crew (Johnny, Stuart, and Chad) were great! They were friendly, polite and funny and treated our belongings with great care. They were obvious professionals and did a fantastic job. They wrapped all the furniture to protect it and were very careful when moving of the floors and walls, which we appreciated when moving into our first home. They work fast and they really do run back to grab more stuff.
