I have never written a review before, but I felt compelled because these guys were so amazing. My husband and I will be moving to North Carolina in the next two months and we had to find both a moving company and a place to store our stuff while renovations are being done on our current home. My husband pulled a bunch of moving companies off of yelp and I decided to call Precision, based on the many positive reviews they received from obviously satisfied customers. Boy, was that the best decision I've made in a while! First, they were able to do my move when I needed it to happen. I had tried other companies before my husband went to yelp, and none could accomodate my schedule. Second, they were very polite and helpful, even suggesting a storage company that would be convenient for me. On my move day, they were supposed to arrive a 8am. At about 7:45, they called to let me know they would be at my home at 8:15. They actually got there at 8:10. I had been told there would be 4 guys, but they showed up with 5 - no extra charge because they needed the extra person for their next job. They introduced themselves and asked me to walk through the house (actually 2 aprtments) so that they would know exactly what was to be moved. Within 10 minutes, they started moving my furniture and many boxes. They were very careful in moving everything, including a very heavy granite table, which they wrapped in protective covering and meticulously taped. They were done in a little more than an hour and off we went to the storage place. I went with one of the companies they suggested - and that was another good decision. I was able to get a ground level drive through storage space and the guys had my stuff unloaded a less than 30 minutes. Their prices are competitive and they are worth every dime. Would you trust movers to do everything without you? I didn't really have a choice - and with Precision Moving, my trust was well placed! I called to schedule my appointment 3 weeks in advance to move the morning of Aug 18th. They gave me the prices on the website, and as I was moving the equivalent of a small 1 bedroom apartment to Haverhill from Brighton (1hr drive) they estimated it would take 4.5-5.5 hours. The price was reasonable, at $130 an hour. I've never used movers before, so I was a little on edge - but I did all the normal packing things, which was how I ended up in a unique situation. I managed to hurt myself bad enough that I had to go to the emergency room the morning of the move; I was there long enough to meet Eric, the supervisor, and tell him that my coworker was coming to lock up my place after he'd left, and my landlords would let them in at the other end, but that I needed to go - and they handled everything with absolute care and, well. Precision. I came back from the hospital to my apartment in Haverhill to find the furniture laid out in what I can only call a 'livable' arrangement (as in, I barely had to move it to make it how I wanted it to be laid out.) All the boxes were neatly stacked against the wall, with the ones labeled 'clothes' in my bedroom and 'books' in the livingroom. They set up my bed, and absolutely nothing is broken, dirty, or dented. The best part? All of this without me here, and then they called and told me that it only took them 4.25 hours. I wasn't there; they could have charged me more. They could have stopped for lunch between Brighton and Haverhill, and I wouldn't have been the wiser - but no. 4.25 hours to move me from Brighton to Haverhill, and I wasn't even there. After 24-hours of disappointment, disillusionment, and frustration with U-Haul, these guys were a breath of fresh air. Yes, competency and customer service does still exist in the moving business and it's called Precision Moving. All of my interactions with company personnel were handled professionally, efficiently, and competently from the original reservation to the actual loading of the U-Haul truck to the processing of payment. And everyone was patient and friendly with my questions and requests. I would use these guys again in a heartbeat and wish I had hired them to do the entire move instead of just loading our furniture and boxes onto a U-Haul truck. The pre-move assessment (done over the phone) was thorough, but quick. I was given a three hour window for the move day and sent an email confirmation with information about their insurance policies. On the day of the move N'Gadi and Ryan arrived right at the appointed time and, despite the 90-degree heat, maintained an unflagging enthusiasm, running up and down the double flight of stairs between the truck and our second floor apartment. They took especial care with our few fragile items and for the first time in any of my many moves nothing emerged damaged at the other end. The timing was exactly as estimated -- three hours so there were no last minute surprises with the bill. And, best of all, they took a credit card! I've used this company twice now, and their service has been consistently wonderful. I had 4 movers, Phil, Javierre, Eric and Josh, and they were extremely effective. They showed up promptly at my appointment time and cleared out my old two bedroom apartment in about two and a half hours. My girlfriend stayed at the old apartment (while I transported pets over to the new place), and all she did was sit on the couch until they had to move the couch. They were extremely quick and every time she tried to help with something they would calmly tell her they had a handle on it. They were just as quick moving stuff in as they were moving it out. Phil was very thorough about asking where major pieces of furniture should go, so that all we have to do is unpack the boxes and everything is where it should be. I will say this, no matter which mover you have, preparation is key. On my previous move I had been sick and the kitchen was not nearly ready to be moved. These guys will pack you, but it will take A LOT longer. The better prepared you are, the smoother it will go. The one extremely minor complaint that I have is the office. I called up a couple of times and the girl was a bit sullen, and quite eager to have me book somewhere else (I felt). However, Phil told me that they have been booking so many jobs that it was becoming a problem. I guess that's the peril of being the most awesome moving company in the area! read more

Like some other Yelpers I was skeptical that this company could really be as good as everyone says, but I am now a believer! I contacted them through email about a month before my move for an estimate, and I received one just a few hours later. I also had several questions about the moving process, and the office was extremely prompt, thorough, and helpful. I ordered boxes from them as well, and they were delivered exactly when Precision said they would be the following day. In terms of the actual move, the movers called me to say that they were running about 6 minutes behind (um, no big deal), were very friendly, and moved me out of my old place in Allston and into my new place in Arlington in 2.5 hours. Crazy! I asked if they needed any help, but they declined and basically let me just oversee things while they did their job (which included hauling multiple heavy boxes at once... and individually carrying pieces of furniture). I really hate moving, and Precision made the day much less stressful for me. All of my things stayed in great shape, and the total cost actually came in under the original estimate. This company is fantastic. I've used many companies including Gentle Giants in the past, but Precision Moving blows everyone away. Here's why: (i) Pricing: Their rate is much lower than Gentle Giants ($130/hr for 3 movers vs. $175/hr for 3 movers) (ii) Estimate: Their initial estimate was as high as Gentle Giants. Based on my solid packing and volume/load of the move, I thought the estimate was too high. Their ops head, Michael, was very courteous and agreed to a lower estimate for the move (iii) Move/Execution: The movers arrived pretty much on time. We had packed everything very well (as professional movers would do), so that made their job a lot easier. The movers, Jaye, Brian and O'Gady were excellent. They were strong, big guys and moved everything with ease. The move came in pretty much to the budgeted estimate. NOTHING was broken or missing. If you use Precision, request Jaye, Brian and O'Gady team. These guys are fantastic. Michael, their head of operations, is very professional, responsive and courteous. I loved the experience with Precision so recommended them to the leasing & concierge depts of a luxury high rise in Boston. read more

Definitely use this moving company!! They were fantastic from start to finish. I was moving from a 1 bedroom, 3rd floor apartment in Cambridge to a 2 bedroom condo in Somerville. It was a fairly small job (albeit lots of stairs) but Precision treated me and my job as if it was as important to them as a much bigger job. I called 4 companies: one never even came back with an estimate; of the other 3 Precision came in WAY lower, and so I worried that it was cheap but perhaps not so good,. However, the people moving out of my condo had used Precision and recommended them highly so I took the chance. I am so glad I did! The crew I had was Phil, Kevin, and Jeff. They came on the dot of 9 and handled the entire job with exceptional care, efficiency, and even a dose of humor! The entire move came right within the estimate. Not a single item arrived broken. All the boxes were put exactly where I wanted. All the furniture was carefully taken apart and re-assembled in my new home. Precision movers (particularly Phil, Eric, and Jeff) were fantastic. I have no complaints, only great things to say. When I move again and if any of my family or friends move, I would definitely recommend them to use this company for several reasons: - They were responsive when we asked for a quote. Their quote was also half the price of Gentle Giants, and ended up being half of what they estimated - We made 2 stops and the final destination was a 4 floor walk up. They did this all in a mere 4.5 hours, despite the heat, narrow staircase, and heavy furniture items - They were friendly, quick, and professional. Never once did I hear a complaint. I can't say enough good things about Precision Moving Company. I had to move unexpectedly due to a family medical issue. Precision was able to organize the first part of my move with only a one week lead time. The crew for the first move - Gadi, Eric and Mike - were amazing. Efficient, careful and professional. I had a little more time to organize the second part of my move, but it was more complicated since some things were going to storage while other things were coming to our apartment. Again, the crew - Gadi, Kevin, and the driver/lead whose name I'm blanking on - was superb. Everything went to the correct place and was done in much less time than I expected. Nothing lost, broken or damaged (I can't say the same for other local movers I've used). Finally, the moving coordinators - Damien and Jennifer - were extremely helpful, answered all my questions and helped with last minute requests for more boxes, etc. For any local moves in the future, Precision is the only company I will use. read more

I had to move on Sept. 1st (a nightmare in Boston) and was very stressed until the movers showed up. Precision Moving Co. gave me a time frame of when they would arrive, and of course it's dependent on how their previous moves that day go. They showed up during the expected time slot and called before to give me a heads up. There were 2 movers and they were awesome!! These guys really knew what they were doing and were very nice and helpful. The whole move went much faster than I thought it would take. I was moving from a third floor to a first floor apt., so of course the move out took longer than the move in, but both were completed very quickly. (I think the move in only took about 20 minutes!) The guys put everything where I wanted it, even moving a few things twice because I wasn't sure what would go where. They also set up my bed (not all movers do this). I would absolutely go with Precision Moving Company next time I have to move!! read more

I chose Precision Movers from Yelp; I feel obligated to add my own voice to the chorus of praise (though this is my first experience with movers). I met both the owners before the move and was already impressed. They allotted four hours for my move, and ended up completing it in two hours, with a final charge of $350 for three movers (not counting tip). (And I have quite a lot of disorganized stuff.) They were astoundingly both fast and careful. When they arrived (on time) I wasn't quite finished packing, but this did not seem to impede them at all. They moved like the wind even though they cannot have been rushing for the next job. They took two lamps without packing them in boxes (as some moving companies apparently insist), and brought them up pristinely. After living in the same place for several years I was expecting a trauma of sorts. This was painless, and I have a whole working day when I expected to be moving! read more

We had a local move from one side of town to the other. The crew of Jilson, Javier, and Alexander (led by Jilson), showed up on time and treated my mother with absolute respect and patience. They worked with us to do the job right. I would note that this house had 35 years worth of stuff in it, much of it extremely heavy with awkward pathways to get to the truck, and not once did they complain. They treated all the items as if they were their own, and they were extremely accommodating when placing all the items where we requested at the new house. If I were to characterize this crew, I would say they had a great attitude, treated us with respect, and demonstrated an elite level of skill in moving. As for cost, I was pleasantly surprised that there were no hidden costs (as I have experienced in my many moves in my 20s and 30s). Not much more to say. I had to move temporarily with short notice and I called Precision Moving Company and they was Excellent! Not only did I have to move from the 3rd Floor to the 3rd Floor I also had somethings going to storage. They rearranged the storage space to make everyting fit and all 3 had positive attitudes. I really don't know how these guys do this everyday, I dred moving every few years let alone going to work everyday and knowing you have to move furniture. They quoted 6 hours to move me and they did it in 4 and are cheaper than other companies around. I have to move back in 2 months and can you quess who I'm calling? They took extra care of my furniture, which I would have probably just let it slde down the stairs. I couldn't aford to give them more than $150 for a tip, but I would have paid double of the cost of the whole move. Bo, Phil and John(?) I love what you guys do and keep up the good work. read more

If you are in need of absolutely fantastic movers do yourself a favor and hire Precision Movers of Somerville. My husband and I have used them for the 3 moves we've had in the last 5 years. We now have a move that involves 2 locations on 2 separate days. Jeff, Javier and Jesus came this past week and did the first phase for us. We've requested them for the 2nd part as they are so careful with our things and so nice to work with in every way. We can't say enough good things about the three of them. The next move is out of New Hampshire so we'll have to pay extra travel time for them to get to us. They work so efficiently and carefully that they more than make up the travel time costs. Although I'm a dedicated Yelp reader, this is the first time that I've ever written a review. You can imagine how great these guys are that I would stop in the middle of unpacking boxes to write this review! read more

I would enthusiastically recommend them to friends and colleagues. They took great care in moving my delicate and fragile items, carefully wrapping them for protection in handling and during transportation. Rudy informed me of additional expenses due to my own inaccuracies in my estimated furniture and boxes beforehand and updated me with their status throughout the operation. They were very clear and transparent in their pricing as they took a short break for lunch during the move and were very conscientious to make sure I was not charged for that time. Kudos to Mike and his AMAZING team of outstanding employees. The first day PJ and Michael showed up exactly on time. They were delightful. It was clear that they truly cared about my belongings. They put me at ease about the whole stress of a move as we chatted about life and family. The actual moving day I was greeted by Gllson, Chris, and Brian. Within no time my precious life was carefully and joyously loaded on the truck and off to my new digs. These men clearly LOVE their jobs. I just finished unpacking my last box. It was as if I lovingly placed my life in boxes and unwrapped my gifts. These gentle professional men made an otherwise difficult time, most joyous and hopeful. My first Yelp review and I just had to write something. Precision moved me today(Christmas Eve!) and everything went seamlessly. It's not just that it went well. With all of the stars on Yelp, I was pretty much expecting a good experience. What urged me to write my review was the pronounced difference with Precision and the last company I used. Precision was friendly, fast, efficient, and they knew where they were going. I moved fewer items on my last move and although Precisions hourly rates were higher, the cost of the move was half as much as the last company I used. I was even less prepared with these guys than I was last time. On top of all of this, they were early, so I finished a couple of hours earlier than I expected. I love my new apartment, so I hope I don't have to move anytime in the near future, but if I do, I'll be using the same company. read more

Due to job requirements, I have moved 13 times in the past 19 years -- Precision Moving Company was hands-down the best moving company I've encountered. Bela, Jésus, and Alex were the most professional, caring, and experienced movers I've witnessed. They were extremely methodical and deliberate in how they executed the move, loaded the truck, and the unload and placement of furniture. They were genuinely careful and gentle with the furniture....they seemed to treat my belongings as if it was their own.
