Dan came and he explained exactly what they were going to do and what my responsibility was in different situations of asbestos removal. I thought he was pretty thorough and was almost set to hire, but there were other things I needed to check out and also I wanted to get a quote from somebody else to compare. Fast forward to this year, and I thought that I will give them a call once again earlier this year, as there was another section of asbestos pipe insulation I needed asbestos removal. Knowing nothing about asbestos removal and the process, I was initially focused on just getting the worst sections done that were crumbling and not adequately wrapped, because of what I thought the cost would be and because of necessity in removing the worst pieces. He did give me a detail of how much it would cost in quotes, with the largest quote detailing getting rid of everything at close to $7500, not including air monitoring. It seemed like a lot of money given the area of pipe insulation that needed removing, so I wanted to check around other places this year in order to compare. When I called him this year to find out if the quote still were good, and availability to do the job, I thought that Dan was strangely kind of rude in his responses to me.. when I first called him again, he responded to a standard greeting of "Hello Dan how you doing?" with " I don't even know how to respond to that" in response. The conversation didn't get much better from that, as he sounded very annoyed. Who does that? Who knows, maybe he thought I was screwing him around, but I trust you not, you can't screw around with things like asbestos and getting capable people to removing it as well. I thought it was kind of argumentative, not very business like and a somewhat rude way to treat a prospective customer. It nonetheless signaled a red flag to me. It was then I knew that I better look elsewhere for a better responsive contractor, maybe a better price and better relationship with the contractor. I found somebody not too soon after that was just as meticulous and even saved me two grand to get rid of everything.

CONSUMER BEWARE Had Carl come to the house to look at our…read moreLennox Gas Fire insert. The Gas Fire would come on for a half hour 45 minutes and then turn off. After collecting $250 for the service call, we were told he had other calls to go on and could not stay for a half hour 45 minutes to see if the fire place would stay lit after he secured the glass to some latches, saying maybe it was because of a air leak. When we called to let him know the fireplace still was not staying lit. He said it was probably the valve. Never bothered coming back to investigate further. Just said they no longer make Lenox Valves. The problem was the fireplace sensors connections just needed a good cleaning. Definitely a money grab business looking to sell a new fireplace for the tune of $6,000.

We bought a new wood insert from them in 2019. The people and product were very nice but we were…read moredisappointed we had to clean the glass every few days to be able to see the fire. A year or so ago we learned it was because the unit they sold us was WAY too large for the space, so the fires we were burning were not hot enough to keep the glass relatively free of soot. We called and told them, suggesting they might swap ours out for a similarly valued used one the correct size, but they didn't respond. A few months later our follow up email received the same silence. We ended up buying fire bricks to fill enough space in it to allow us to burn smaller, hotter fires without overheating the room. It helped, but we still have to do more glass cleaning than we should and ended up spending more money on the larger unit than we needed to. Note: I will update this review if and when they make an effort to help us out.

We hired this contractor to install a concrete patio to address a drainage issue near our foundation. Despite raising concerns throughout the project, the finished patio was graded toward our house and directed water directly at the foundation, the exact problem it was supposed to solve. I also had concerns about the workmanship, including stone being placed directly on grass and retaining wall rocks during site preparation. Additionally, the patio was tied into our block foundation with rebar. While we were aware this was being done, we later learned from independent contractors that this is not recommended in our climate due to freeze-thaw conditions. After years of hiring contractors for home improvement projects, this has been by far our worst experience. The patio had to be removed shortly after installation, resulting in significant additional expense and the need to hire a new contractor to redo the work correctly. I would encourage future customers to carefully document everything and independently verify grading, drainage, and construction methods before work begins.

Working with concrete requires flexibility in scheduling due to weather ,etc.. Any time that Zach was not going to working on the project, he called or texted me to let me know what was going on. ( His wife even called me once to tell me he was running late ! Who does that?!!) He worked tirelessly to complete the project and would not stop until I was COMPLETELY satisfied. My neighbors are amazed at how the final project turned out and cannot stop complimenting our new entry steps. Thanks to Zach and Dan, they're the best!

The last time we had our driveway sealed (which is a large driveway with cracks, lawn overgrowing…read morethe sides, and in places weeds growing through it) we had a company come and they did a fantastic job. They did a thorough job edging it, they filled in the cracks, and they pulled the weeds. They also charged us almost half of what Egan charged us now, though that was in 2020. That company doesn't appear to be around now, so we looked online for reviews and after getting several went with Egan. Their estimate seemed detailed enough (we had also asked for other quotes to do other things besides sealcoating) but when it came time to actually lock it in we discovered that the low number wasn't the correct number. We had to add another number too, which made the job a lot more (though still less than the others). Arranging a time to get it done took four calls spread over several days, but they finally showed up. And their work was less than spectacular. Yes, the driveway is mostly black. But they missed some spots along the edges; they didn't bother to fill in any cracks; they actually applied the tar over weeds in situ (sort of like those online pictures of highway striping crews painting right over roadkill) leaving black plants sticking up; and they didn't edge everything properly first and part of their tar was just brushed on dirt which was on top of the driveway which instantly peeled off a day later. Now, to be fair if I had to do this all myself (not a fun job) I doubt I could have done it much better. But for $1400 we expected more. In the future I will make sure the contract clearly specifies crack filling, full edging, etc. Since their quote was the lowest and most of my driveway now has sealcoat on it I can live with it. But I will likely look elsewhere next time as you get what you pay for. Maybe our previous company spoiled us with amazing service?

They sprayed the seal coating on and it looked like they just used black paint. A bad job. When I complained, they said that they would come back and do the job over again for free. That was suppose to happen this past Spring when the asphalt plant opened again. I have not seen or heard from them since. I guess their word is just as good as their workmanship.
