I have a few injuries that impact some flexibility but generally don't limit me (for example, I play competitive tennis and used to box semi-competitively). I also stated I was just looking for general conditioning but hoped that through the strength training I could improve my structure (for example, my shoulders pull forward a little because I need to develop my back a bit). A week passes and I don't hear a thing. I send a follow-up and very quickly hear back with an e-mail response stating that they aren't a physical therapist and won't take me on as a client. I'm somewhat surprised but sent a response clarifying I wasn't looking for a physical therapist just a trainer and seeing who they could recommend. Again, I didn't hear back...I've moved on. I ended up finding an amazing trainer who I've been working with the last few months and the progress has been great.

It's probably due to the fact that it's my first time in my life that I'm actually training at a place that employs professionals (which means every week I get my ass kicked). I've done my fair share of training through various corporate clubs and the quality of trainers can not even come close to those that work at Rich Barretta. I've had the opportunity to work with two of the trainers here and both are extremely friendly, creative with their workouts and knowledgeable. Each week I'm presented with an entirely new workout. I've never repeated any exercise in the 3 months I've been training and the new muscles I've discovered thank me (or hate me) for that. The facilities are clean and intimate. Since it's a private studio, there are no distractions (other trainers talking to your trainer, waiting for equipment, not having enough space, gym members staring at you, etc.). I feel really comfortable working out here and I'm not embarrassed to try some of the exercises my trainer wants me to do since there's no one around watching me. The prices are reasonable as well. If you're looking to train somewhere, I would 150% recommend going here rather than with a trainer in your gym.

Each session is one hour, but it's the fastest hour I've ever spent at a gym. The workouts are challenging but very doable, and I liked the intimate environment -- it's really just you, your trainer, and maybe two other people working out with their trainers at the same time. It's laidback and you get the sense of a real community. If I decide to work with a trainer again down the road, I will most probably be knocking on their door again.

I run about 20 miles a week, so I am by no means in amazing shape. The class was about 10 people, it was very challenging but not impossible. Andy the instructor was amazing at giving you pointers for making the circuits harder or easier depending on your level of fitness. I will definitely be going back, it is an awesome way to break up the monotony of a workout routine, i.e. running. Also if your a fitness maniac, there were some people training there who were in ridiculous shape.

As a former competitive swimmer, it was extremely difficult to do flip turns, not only because they closed half of the pool horizontally due to lifeguard staffing issues, but also because there were multiple people moving in different directions. I have been training with Kenny for 10 weeks now and started 4 weeks prior to gym closures and stay at home orders going into place. I was concerned about not being able to keep up with a routine I had just started with limited equipment available to me at home and not being able to meet for regular sessions. Kenny was able to reconstruct and customize all of my workouts while continuing virtual sessions. It has been extremely productive and engaging, especially while stuck at home all day like most others are. Kenny has been able to maintain the same level of intensity for my workouts, despite the lack of gym or in person training. Prior to this, I traveled frequently for work and Kenny acknowledged the limitations I had with scheduling and accessibility to consistent gym equipment outside of our sessions. Kenny is excellent about making the workouts and regimens fit the person and he genuinely cares about helping you meet your goals. Zach is able to find a balance to ensure that every session is not only challenging but also incredibly rewarding. That balance is crucial. Also fwiw, I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease (multiple sclerosis) so working with a trainer who can adapt and modify workouts for me has been extra important. Typical workout session: I do 2 sessions/week that focus on a fully body workouts. After each workout I feel like I've been challenged and pushed myself (usually hit a new personal best every 1-2 weeks) but I don't feel sore the next day which is absolutely the perfect balance for me. He also is very attentive and receptive and helps customize my workout plan so it works best for me, my schedule, and my personal goals. Adrian is very focused on sustainable training so every session consists not only of doing the exercise but taking time to reflect when things go wrong, and focus on form and efficiency of each movement. He has excellent cues and tips and even sometimes tweaks some of the exercises if my mobility is limited for example. In addition to growing stronger (going from new-lifter to now being able to deadlift 315lbs for reps), Adrian has taught me how to enjoy exercise and how to consistently workout in a way that's good for my growth and focuses on good form, mobility, and strength. His classes are fun, very challenging (but still achievable), and addictive! As someone else said--hands down, the BEST workout ever. Each class is totally different so you never get bored. He also focuses on different muscle groups so you will always get a full body workout, including cardio. Afterwards, you feel amazing....more so than other classes. For some reason, he really knows how to get that serotonin pumping for hours after the session. I've gotten stronger and more fit since I've started his classes...and happier! Also, unlike other classes, he really focuses on technique and to the individual. It feels like you have a personal trainer even though you are taking a class. His classes are a bargain for what you get and achieve. In addition to his incredible workout, he is really funny, he keeps the morale high without annoying you (like some instructors I've had)....and I know I've said this already but his classes go by SO fast b/c two are never the same...He always changes it up....never a boring moment. In one word, his classes are addictive. And you will always feel the effects the next day (but not so badly where you can't move :)

INCREDIBLE WORKOUT!!!…read more Went there this weekend on a Saturday for the sweat class. This was my first time going to a group workout. I run about 20 miles a week, so I am by no means in amazing shape. The class was about 10 people, it was very challenging but not impossible. Andy the instructor was amazing at giving you pointers for making the circuits harder or easier depending on your level of fitness. I will definitely be going back, it is an awesome way to break up the monotony of a workout routine, i.e. running. Also if your a fitness maniac, there were some people training there who were in ridiculous shape.

I am a mom of two young-ish children, and I hadn't worked out since I giving birth to my younger child in September of 2021. My long-term goals were to increase my strength and decrease my body fat while maintaining the little muscle I had...and I was very wary of my ability to do this alone. I was also several months away from turning 40, and my short-term goal was to feel (and look!) good before that happened. I knew Jon was the trainer for me as soon as I met him. I have a very specific sense of humor, and Jon appreciates it. This was very important to me, as it was the only thing that was going to get me over my workout anxiety. I truly felt like I was working out with a good friend, but one who would hold me accountable and push me to be better. Jon really knows what he's doing. He has been able to address issues that I've had for years, and he's super thoughtful about programming my workouts. He knows when to push me and when to switch things up. I always feel very safe with Jon, and I completely trust him when it comes to my progression/heavy weight training. My workouts fly by despite being challenging. I truly believe it's because Jon in FUN and we actually have a great time. Over the last 9 months of working out twice a week, I've lost 10 lbs and feel significantly stronger. Each session he checked in to see how I was feeling. He provided nutritional guidance and tailored workouts to help me reach my goals. I appreciate his attention, ability to assess what my body needs and make the appropriate adjustments during a workout. He is very patient but also pushed me to lift heavier when I thought I couldn't. To see myself get stronger and slimmer felt great. Over the 7 months that I trained with Jon, I lost 34lbs. and dropped 4 dress sizes.
