At first when I arrived, I wasn't sure if I had arrived in the right place! Parking was indeed at what seemed like the back of the building, but that's where the entrance was for the cafe. There was a lot of seating areas inside, including private rooms, well-lit areas with long tables, and an area that was made to feel cozy with couches and plush chairs. I wish there had been more food options, as I had to opt for a pre-packaged oat bar as a sweet snack. Would have been nice if they had cookies or something! For my drink, I had a matcha tea latte, made lightly sweetened at my request and with oat milk. Overall, we found the space a great place to sit down for a casual meet-up. It wasn't too loud or crowded, but perhaps these are factors that would make it favorable as a co-working space.

For such a tiny little coffee shack, they seem to have a good-sized food and drink menu. I also also surprised to see lots of boozy coffee drinks on the menu with ingredients like Kahlua, Baileys, Amaretto, and Frangelico. Kind of odd since most customers are probably on their way to work, and the coffee shop closes at 4pm which is too early for happy hour!

I much prefer the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. To the people who bought this place, I know your motto is "different is better," but please stop taking that so literally. You do not have to change every aspect of this place to make it different. The best thing about getting your everyday local coffee is seeing the same baristas you've seen over and over again, familiar faces who know you by name. This was one of those places where I'd hate to admit how much money I've spent here, and I did it happily. In just three weeks, our beloved spot, one I would willingly drive out of my way for, has gone so far downhill that I barely recognize it. From the eyesore taco warmer that practically knocks you in the face while you're ordering, replacing a space that once showcased lovely things like fresh flowers and local trinkets, to the disappearance of the wonderful local treats from Sinfull Bakery that kids genuinely enjoyed. At first I thought maybe you were just out, but after three weeks it became clear that expenses were being cut across the board and those items may never come back. And where do I even begin. The new oat milk is terrible. It completely changes the look and taste of the coffee and is immediately noticeable. I won't harp on the change of hours or the change in flavor of your coffee beans, but I feel it must be mentioned because, well, it's noticeable. And now the cleanliness. Spilled taco sauce all over the floor, and when your kid points it out, you know you're in trouble at that point. Dishes piled so high they're overflowing, dirty restrooms. And to be clear, this isn't the staff's fault, there is simply not enough staff to keep up with these things. Never ever in seven years of being a frequent visitor has it been this bad. I also noticed the new coffee packaging, and it's just another reminder that the heart and thoughtfulness that once defined this place are gone. At this rate I half expect robots handing me my latte in a few weeks so you can save a few more bucks. And getting rid of Toast. Even if Toast was an expensive platform to use, it was legitimately so convenient. And dang, if you're going to do away with it, don't replace it with the worst possible ordering system ever, one that doesn't even work. Do you know how many orders I wouldn't have placed if it weren't for Toast? Toast made those orders possible when I didn't have time to wait. Without it, I simply wouldn't have ordered. I understand times are tough for many businesses, but you all were booming. The new online ordering system doesn't work. You may as well do away with it altogether because this one just isn't it. Honestly, I am devastated. You knocked it out of the park in every area, cleanliness, service, food. I never had a single bad item on the menu. The coffee was beyond. When my family moved out of the city a year and a half ago, I still drove 35 minutes one way just to get your food and coffee, over an hour round trip again and again. I don't think you understand how this new direction has driven this place into the ground in a matter of three weeks. Sadly all good things must come to an end.

The drop coffee was tiny for $3.49 (with $1.08 refill, seriously), recommend getting it in a to-go cup. Mocha was really good and a good size. The sandwiches were decent, but have had a lot better. Scone was decent, but nothing of note. Finally the phyllo dough pastry should have been their star, but it was soggy and barely warm. Asked them to reheat it, still not crispy as phyllo should be. Will I return? Likely no, unless I just want a mocha. With all the other coffee spots in the Heights, this isn't the start. Recommend going to Jane and the Lion or Angela's Oven if you're looking for a better experience with similar offerings.

It comes with Oat Milk Latte with Vanilla & Cinnamon Bun Syrup. The ambiance is chill, relaxing, the ultimate quiet coffee shop vibe. Great service and the baristas were friendly and helpful because I did have a few questions about the drink I ordered. I learned that the Kailua Latte was the cashiers favorite drink! Overall, Kona is a nice coffee shop to stop by to grab a drink, catch up with friends, or get some reading/studying/work done. Reasonable prices as well.
