Best tax services in Honolulu! I can't believe I didn't come here sooner. Chau(Joe) and his team always deliver great and pleasant services at their office. Compared to my former tax place a few blocks down the road, this place excels in service and value. I usually file my W-2 and my 1099. My first year filing Joe helped me out on my G-45/G-49 as well as tips on how it works. Before coming here, I've been paying the extra 4% tax which I should have only been paying the 0.5%. I didn't realize I've been filing my GE Tax wrong. Fortunately Joe is well verse in Hawaii tax laws, he helped me amend my filing to get the money back! Got a check for $1.4k in a matter of weeks. Their office is located on the the river side of Chinatown. You can park on the Municipal parking on Nimitz and a minute walk over to their gate where you call to get buzzed in. The waiting area is spacious and they offer free snacks and beverages. There's even a huge tv to watch while you wait. You can also make an appointment on their website. The office is spacious with at least 4 accountants at the office helping out Joe. And what I like is that during the consultation, they have a lcd screen you can look at to see what they are doing. So they literally talk you through your taxes. They look for deductions and give their professional advice as well. This is my second visit and I've been telling my friends, clients and family to get their taxes done here. I have been with my former tax accountant for years and have been paying almost twice as much for the same service. Decided to change where I do my taxes since the last office I went to never returned any messages when I needed something. I was referred to Premier Tax Service by my parents. The first thing I loved about them is you could schedule your appointment on their website. You can choose your tax preparer, what kind of tax service you will be needing, and it also lists the prices. I understand some businesses don't list prices, as to not scare away potential clients before they even try the service. However, I appreciate the transparency more. Plus, I feel that the price is fair compared to others, at $100 for the 1040A individual or joint filing. If you have a friend that referred you, you can input their name on a form on their website to give them a small $5 referral bonus. They are located on the end of River Street, closer to Nimitz Hwy. I just got dropped off since parking is usually always hard in Chinatown. There is a gate with a callbox. You'll press the call button and dial 06, which will allow them to unlock the door for you. Take the first staircase up, and their office is right there. There are benches out front, and they even offer coffee and snacks while you're waiting to be called upon. Our appointment was at 9:00AM, but we started at about 9:25AM. However, during booking, it said it would take about 45 minutes, and we still ended a few minutes before 9:45! Talk about fast haha. And one might think that speed could mean something was missing or a mistake could happen, but Joe made sure he went over everything. There is even a screen facing you so that you could see exactly what he is doing. As a new client, I was asked if I had a copy of my last year tax return, but even if you don't have it, it's okay. He'll just need to ask for your information to build your profile. All I brought was my W2 forms, SSN, brokerage accounts, unemployment tax form, and insurance tax form (make sure you remember this if you have received a Premium Tax Credit and have Marketplace insurance). I booked with Joe for my taxes, I only paid $52.36 since mines was basic. He really helped me out and it was cheaper than turbo tax and he was able lower my state taxes that I owed. He is a very nice guy and helpful and is able to answer your questions. I will be deffiently coming back here next year to get my taxes done. Make sure to go early due to finding street parking. there was a small parking structure that I parked in that is meter parking that takes credit card and coin, best to go with coins though I had trouble with the credit card, it was $1.50 per hour I believe . Well some years back I was doing my own and long story short saw a friend post Premiere on his social media so I decided to try them out to fix my booboos. They fixed 5 years worth of my mistakes and now I've been going to them every year since 2016. They're located on the last block on River Street closer to Nimitz. I usually cut through the market and never take River Street. I'm not sure where the closest parking garage would, but they're open on Sundays so street parking might be easier to find. You reach a gate where they buzz you in and must walk upstairs located to the right to the 2nd floor. It's a small office and nothing fancy. You don't need fancy doing taxes, but they offer some snacks. Joe and his team are friendly and helpful. But Joe has the most knowledge. My bf was paying another company almost triple. STILL a 5 star review ! ------------------------ I started to use Chau's (joe's) premier tax service last year, a lot of my coworkers go to him. He's actually pretty amazing at what he does. Yeah, he has other employees who work with him, and yes, when I had come in last year, I was sat down with his other employee who... didn't seem to get the gist of things but yet. But he knew most. But like any other job, practice makes perfect! If you'd ask me, if he's being mentored under joe? He's bound to be a joe. So why be mad that some other employee in the same office is doing your taxes for you? Taxes are definitely hard to understand, it is complicated, mmmm... around tax season... who knows how many people are into that office? He's a small business owner, so things are not as traditional as an office such as citi bank or one financial. Some people just need to understand. Also joe is always the type of person who has an RBF, so don't be offended when he looks or speaks to you in the wrong way. If you go attacking him.... he will probably snap back also. I have been s customer for about 3 years Chau used to be very factual and to the point abut my taxes. My recent visit i brought in my wife to have my taxes done. I was given to another tax person/ employee to my dismay I felt rushed and Chau had to go in to correct the tax that was prepared for me. It was my fault that I brought incomplete paperwork for my taxes as this was not a problem before because Chau was able to look up Any information online. I also want to mention that Chau was babysitting and disciplining a child while customers were getting their taxes done. This made me realize that the service factor went downhill over the years i suppose. Anyway. I went home then Walah my tax forms came in and realize I made a mistake with some numbers. I called back and expressed to Chau that I made some mistake and the person that helped was probably not obviously as knowledgeable as him. I reschedule for the 7 th of February, Chau was short and seemed like he was showing off to his employees how to talk down to customers. I felt was treated poorly by the owner. I expected to pay an amendment fee which was not an issue. So in total I paid $180 after being treated like I was bothering them, I also considered the fact that their culture (Vietnamese) they really talk or sound mean to one another. I don't think Chau quickly forgot the Aloha culture his words and demeanor was condescending and cut throat. In any case, the total experience was not pleasant. I will stop recommending people to Chau and his company. I've seen many company owners fall due to bad customer service probably because the owners they have abused certain power they bestowed upon themselves. read more
