I've been getting body work from Press since Rachel opened as Massage Williamsburg in 2008. I've not gone anywhere else since. Over the years I've seen number of her therapists, all amazing. I've settled on Jali and have been seeing him for several years. I got the first massage in 6 months from him last night and, as always, my body is in a much better place this morning. He deeply understands how the body works, how to relieve tension and alleviate the pain caused from all the biking, yoga, lifting and living I love to do. I am someone who suffers from trigger point flares that result from stress. These spasms go all along my left back side and are so uncomfortable that sometimes I can't sleep. Typically when i explain what I'm feeling to people, they stare at me blankly. When I walked into my appointment with Ryan and explained the sensation, he immediately understood what I was referencing and what I needed. His massage totally loosened all the knots in my back without feeling intensely painful. I felt immediate relief. Additionally, he was super professional and generously added an extra 5 min since my Appt was at the end of the day. Just had my second outstanding massage with Adrian! He is wonderful! Kind, well spoken and very professional. He has helped tremendously with my lower back pain. He checked in about pressure, but also allowed me to have full relaxation. I should also say that I've had other massages from here as well as their sister location, Massage Greenpoint, and I have never been disappointed. Both locations are clean, cozy and relaxing. I've been frequenting Massage Wiliamsburg ever since they had a tiny 2-client space in the basement of their current location (I want to say 8 years ago?). I'm so excited to see that they've expanded, and that their quality of service hasn't diminished. I try to make an appointment at least every three months, and out of all the times, I've only had maybe two or three "Meh." massages. Otherwise, they generally offer (hands-down) the most amazing / relaxing massages. I don't know what my poor, over-worked back would do without these wonderful people. They take the time, before a session, to ask about the purpose of your visit, address where you're feeling tension, and what they should be aware of. 10 minutes into the massage, they check-in about the pressure. After the massage, they give you helpful tips and stretches to alleviate back pain and tension at home, between visits. While I'd love to schedule a massage at least once a month, their prices do keep rising (and rightfully so! They're awesome!). However, my budget only allows me to schedule one for special occasions ... or when I'm really just desperate for a good massage. (Totally worth it!) I always rave about Massage Wiliamsburg to friends. Highly recommend! read more

Having just moved I was in need of a massage. My back and neck were super tight. I was in Williamsburg for the day and with the help of Yelp found this place. They were able to fit me in for a 12 pm appointment. When I booked the appointment I asked for a Deep Tissue and was told my therepist (won't name her here), could accomedate me. The place itself is a bit ackward it's in a building with other businesses and there are only 2 treatment rooms from what I saw with a small waiting area. It's in no way spa like which that day I didn't care, I was just in need of a massage. I filled out my paperwork and was asked to take my shoes off in the lobby which I didn't love. Its not sanitary, and they should provide you with slippers or socks. I was in the room directly in front (or on the side) of the receptionist desk so when the massage was over and the masseuse opened the door the receptionist and if there was anyone in lobby can see in. They should hang a curtain to provide privacy. Onto the massage-sadly it was disappointing. I kept thinking it would get better and the pressure would be somewhat closer to deep tissue but it felt very surface level. The surprising part is when I got home (LIC) I had a severe stiff neck and left shoulder. Something I didn't have before I went in. It progressively got worse throughout my evening. I tried stretching, sitting in a hot tub, rolling my neck, it was terrible. Here it is a week later and while substantially less severe I can still feel a tweek in my neck. I have no idea what happened but I felt worse after then before. Maybe my back was so tight that it would have happened any way, I am not sure but I get massages enough to know this was the worst I'd ever felt after a massage. I paid a $105 plus tip for the massage and have to say it was really dissapponting. I didn't feel any relief and with the neck pain I have to think something was manipulated in the wrong way. This place has great reviews so some of their team must be good, but because of my experience I would not go back or recommend. I gave 2 stars instead of one because the masseuse was pleasant. read more

I am a professional and competitive cyclist. After receiving years of professional deep-tissue sports massage, I was extremely disappointed with Massage Williamsburg. I felt it was overpriced, it was way too light, and my massage therapist never asked for feedback at any time during the massage. During the massage, I asked him to apply more pressure, and he hardly worked on the muscles. I received a 1-hour $50 massage in Chinatown 2 weeks ago, which was much better. I specifically asked for certain areas to be worked on during my session, and they were barely addressed. Instead, the threapist seemed to pursue a standard "routine" and ignored the painful and tense areas i mentioned. 1-star for service. 2 for politeness and for a clean, professional environment. This massage cost me $80 and I do not advise anyone going here for a deep-tissue massage. If you have money to spend and are just looking to relax, than I'm sure this place would be helpful. If you're looking for a real massage that uses proper techniques to alleviate tension on sore or tight muscles...keep looking. read more

I wish I could write the review without giving a rating, because I had a bad experience today, but I believe that others have had good ones. That said, I don't think I could be enticed to go back. I would just recommend that if you have injuries of any kind, or chronic pain that has been diagnosed, communicate with the staff before going in. I did mention my neck injuries and chronic pain (and wrote on the in-take form) but I'm not sure I was understood. The style of massage that I received was very aggressive and might have been OK for someone without neck sensitivities, but it was scary for me and I did not feel like the therapist responded to my verbal feedback (saying "too much" or asking for more care around my neck, or saying "I feel very stressed out by this") and physical cues (like pulling back, making sounds of pain, and being very tense). Again, it might have been fine for someone less sensitive. If you actually need therapeutic massage to be able to feel well, it seems that it's not a guarantee here. Be sure to research specific therapists and communicate with them ahead of time. read more

I went in because of a muscle knot in my shoulder the size of a grapefruit that was starting to sabotage my lifts at the gym. I called the day before and was able to schedule an appoint for deep tissue work with Joelle. She really knows her stuff and understands the body's mechanics. I told her to also focus on my hip because I have a lot of hip and leg issues from sitting down at work all day. She discovered that my hip is tilted asymmetrically (something I have long suspected!) because my posture and sitting habits have resulted in shortening and tightness in those muscles and soft tissues. She did a lot of work to correct this, and while it was quite painful, I felt much better as a result (I told her to do whatever she had to do, after all). Just walking around, my hips and legs are more pain-free than they've been in months. She knocked out that knot in my shoulder, too. Although our appointment was for only an hour, she took extra time with me to show me stretches and talk anatomy with me so I can mitigate my hip and shoulder issues on my own. Nothing ever felt rushed at all. This place is very bare-bones; I didn't see a bathroom/shower there, unless it's in another part of the building. That's the only qualm I have. But it's clean and the prices are very reasonable for how professional they are, so I hope they will continue to grow and find the facilities they deserve. I appreciate that massage is their specialty; a lot of spas in NYC are a one-stop-shop for everything, manicures, haircuts, while massage is just one of many "features." Here, massage is what they do, and I think that shows. read more

Had an amazing 1hr session with Nicole. As this was my first professional massage, it truely turned me into a believer! Outside the normal work grind, I climb regularly so I tend to be sore in the upper back and shoulder areas. More recently in the lower back as well. Nicole took note and went to work. I had never paid a professional for a massage before, but booking my appointment was far from intimidating. I had already been feeling a sense of semi-calm by the time I left my home and headed to their office, located in the basement of the building on the corner, just beside and below the vintage shop. I instantly saw why they had chosen to be below ground: there were no noises, no possible distractions. With the accompaniment of soft music I felt very comfortable being there. Kiera knew how to read my back like a book. She sought out to break down the tension in places I didn't even know existed on my back and body in what they call the Swedish massage. When it was all over, I felt renewed and I was in very positive spirits, feeling like I had unlocked an amazing new outlet. When your body is suffering, your mind is suffering. I went to Massage Williamsburg last night for the first time. I can honestly say it wont be my last. The decor is fantastic and very fitting. I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed as i walked in. There were zero distractions. The staff is very friendly and professional. I worked with Ellen (whom i highly recommend). She listened carefully and was very attentive to any request i had (I have lots of back/ arm issues). She would check in with me constantly to see if there was too much or too little pressure, making sure every detail was right. Definitely the best masseuse i have ever been to. I recommend doing 90 min, an hour goes by so fast. I also recommend using the peppermint massage oil. read more

I found Massage Williamsburg through yelp, and decided to give it a try since my lower back has been really bothering me lately. I was a little confused where it was at first because they don't have a storefront, but once I found the door with buzzer around the corner from mikey's hook up, I was good. The office is quiet and clean and my therapist Robert seemed like a really nice dude. I filled out an intake form, which I didn't expect, and we talked about him specifically working on my lower back pain. In short, it was awesome! The massage totally knocked me out, and I felt so much lighter when I left. I'm going to be going back next month if I don't blow too much of my discretional income on beer. read more

While I was living in Brooklyn, I visited Nichole monthly for a massage and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Serious, I hesitated to leave Brooklyn because I would miss her monthly massages! The entire staff here is friendly and sweet. I ended up getting booked with Nichole simply because of the time I chose, but she is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable. She always listened fully when I talked about what I was experiencing in my body and directly translated that into each massage. GREAT experience... Kurt Kingsley was my 'therapist' for a deep tissue massage. He is professional, knowledgable, patient, and human!! I went into this place thinking I would just get a typical massage,,, to my surprise Kurt worked closely with me: talking specifically about areas that are causing me trouble. Patient and communicative he focused on all of my requests, even making sure at the last 10-15 minutes if I needed to shift back to any trouble spots. I left feeling very listened to and intuitively understood. Having experienced many therapies: Rolfing/acupuncture/shiatsu/pressure point, I'm beyond delighted to recommend Kurt if you are experiencing any injuries or looking for a more elevated massage experience, and he is delightful!! Jenifer straightened my back in a way I thought it couldn't be. She took one look at me and was able to tell which muscles were tight, what was misalligned, etc. Now I feel amazing, taller and I can sit straight walk straight, and feel like there is more space in my chest overall! The massage was excellent. Yelena was great and technique was exactly what I needed during a 90 minute prenatal massage. Unfortunately they do not have air conditioning and there was absolutely no air blowing in the room. I'm 9 months pregnant and to have such an experience when spending over $200 for a treatment is ridiculous. I would never go back or recommend this place, which is unfortunate when they do great work. It's not fair to their employees or clients, especially their prenatal clients. read more

Mark and the whole team at Press were INCREDIBLE today and I wish I had the type of disposable income that I could get a massage from him at least once a week. I showed up 20+ minutes late and was so embarrassed but the staff was very kind and made sure to made sure I didn't feel worse than I already did. Of course I didn't get to have the full 60-minute massage but Mark did everything he could to make sure I got the best massage possible in that shortened period of time. I was so incredibly relaxed when I left and was able to retain that feeling long after the service ended, which is super difficult in this crazy city. Also want to point out I had wanted to get a female masseuse but there weren't any available. Mark is incredibly respectful, professional, and NICE, and I am happy to vouch for him to anyone else who thinks they would be more comfortable with a woman. He made me feel very at ease very quickly and I'm very happy I had my massage with him. read more

I called only hours ahead of time for a back/neck/shoulders massage. They fit me in even though I gave them no more than a 4 hour window. The actual business has no store front and is located in a large professional warehouse. This is great because I hate walking into the street from a massage looking way too relaxed to be in NYC. After asking about any health issues I might have Robert got started and delivered one of the best massages I've had. I had a moderate kink in my neck and he worked it almost completely out. The massage alleviated my neck cramp almost completely, was relaxing and just felt like it was being done with complete professional competence. The person I scheduled with named Tommy said all frustrated "this is the second time this is happening!" to the receptionist when she told him I only wanted a vaccinated person. I think it's irresponsible to work that closely with patients and not require your workers to be vaccinated and I didn't like how they handled me asking. read more
