I gave this place a try 3 times because of the good reviews, I had 3 different people cut my hair, terrible every single time. I don't know what the hiring criteria is but it must be nonexistent. I have never gone out of my way to write a bad review, but the most recent time I went, an older guy with a hat that only spoke Spanish cut my hair and absolutely butchered it. Payed 35$ for regret and chopped hair. Also the 2nd time, I went with a friend and they left him with tons of razor burns. And it went super well... the guy i had didn't know how to cut hair, didn't line up the taper in the back, went to high in the burst fade, couldn't blend, and was really rough when cutting hair was like digging into my head, he also made me bleed when lining me up on my forehead. I've frequented Prestige barber shop quite a few times, mainly as a walk-in, and it's been quite the journey. The barbers here have different styles, some better than others, but generally, the quality is good to great. I never really got to know the people here, and that was never my intention either. I have my trusted barber whom I've known for a while, and this place was my go-to for a quick cut when I couldn't make it to him. Overall, up until this point, it seemed like a solid choice. But oh, how things changed one morning around 8:30! The staff already had appointments, so I decided to wait for a while. Eventually, someone was available, introducing himself as the assistant manager. From that point on, everything went downhill. During the cut, he kept criticizing my hair, calling it a "whole ass project." It was tolerable at first, but come on, every two minutes? To top it off, he and the guy next to him were about to throw hands, squabbling like two siblings forced to sit next each other during a long trip, forcing the shop owner to intervene and break up their bickering multiple times. Unfortunately, this guy decided to take out his frustration on my hair, resulting in one of the worst cuts I've had in the last decade. The hard part he gave me resembled the chaotic 405 freeway, and he totally butchered my mustache and facial hair. I walked in with a full, shaggy beard and came out looking like a cleaned-up version of Carlton from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Pencil mustache and all (which I know some people may love, but is not my style, and not what I asked for). Once the shock settled in, I called to complain, and he offered a free cut to make things right. I initially accepted it, but everyone knows that accepting a free cut is a risky game that rarely turns out in your favor. So I decided to not show up. Overall, I'd rate the shop a 3/5. Little things add up, like the outdated $5 appointment fee and the occasional bad attitudes from some barbers. The saving grace for this rating is the owner, who genuinely tries to create a welcoming atmosphere and coaches the barbers when needed, though I imagine it must be exhausting while running the business. The shop does have some really great talent, but it's essential to trust your gut. If you sense unhappiness or a lack of confidence from a barber, don't hesitate to choose another one or even consider a different shop. After all, it's not worth sacrificing your hair's well-being for the sake of convenience. read more

Came in for the first time. Dude with tattoos on his neck (didn't catch his name) took me. I tried explaining to the guy how I get my hair cut since this is my first time with him and he visibly got frustrated with my explanations, eventually cutting me off and saying "yeah yeah just chill, I got you". He ended up going against what I originally said. Went too high, still lined me up despite me saying not to. All the barbers here seem like they aren't the most model citizens if you catch my drift. When I come in I always go with Matt, I'm sure everyone here is fine but Matt did a stupid good job the first time I came around and you know, habits. But he gets me good every time I come in, to the point where I take both my kids in, one 15 the other 4. He's super patient and has convos with both of them, to the point where my 4 year old is excited to see "his barber Matt." Apparently they have just as good shop convos as he and I do. He's a good guy and def brings a good vibe to the chair when I come in. He's always on time, professional and takes a reasonable amount of time to cut mine and my kids hair and He communicates. I can say hes the best barber I've had so far. The barber shop itself is always clean, someone is always sweeping all the time.
