Sergio is big on promises, bad on delivery...and he stole my money!…read more Sergio did a nice job on my backyard around 6 years ago, and at a good price, so I encouraged my homeowner's association to hire him to install a small patio and pergola in our common area - BIG MISTAKE! While promising repeatedly to get the work done, it took him 3 months to do what was arguably a simple 2-week job. In the meantime, he left our common area an unsightly and unsafe mess. After many, many promises, he didn't show up day after day for weeks and months. He only managed to finally get it done because we offered him more money if he finished by a certain date. It was a stressful, awful disaster! But the worst thing is that Sergio stole my money. At the beginning of the job, after he delayed the start by a couple weeks, Sergio came to me to ask for a loan of $2500 to fix his truck so he could start my association's work. Foolishly, and because I felt my reputation was also on the line, I loaned him the money. Nearly a year later, he has not paid me back. He has, of course, made many promises to pay me back over this time, but he has not. So my nightmare continues to this day. Sergio is communicative and seems nice and accommodating, and he'll give you a great price (especially by Chicago standards), but he's not an honest man in the end. My sense is that Sergio over-promises, gets in over his head, and doesn't have the staff to complete the work. I suspect his workers have gotten tired of his empty promises, too.

This was the worst contractor I have hired…read more They twice tried to replace a front door concrete step and entry sidewalk. The first time the platform was not pitched properly, and was actually convex, so rain water pooled around the edges, where the concrete meets the building's brick walls. The business owner, Jose Servin, was unresponsive for months. When they finally did respond they agreed to redo the surface. They would not say precisely when they would do the work, and did not communicate with me before they showed up and did it. When they did show up to resurface the platform, they did not place any signage or warning that the cement was wet, so several people walked on, leaving permanent footprints. Furthermore, they left it with a dip in the middle, where a puddle now forms. Not recommended. Note that there is another business called Central General Contractor located at the same address, possibly the same business using a different name.

Estimate fee was $70. I go to pull my check book and the guy wants cash. I tell him the check is good. He wants me to go to an ATM. F*ck that. He took the check. He told me the work could be taken care of within three weeks time. The summer is a busy time for them, but, they can schedule me in. It would be about a day's work. Its December now. They just completed the work about a week ago. WHY?? Because they kept dragging and dragging. Excuses about their work load. If I owned this property, I would've dropped their lazy asses months ago and went with another Iron worker. The estimation cost is ridiculous. Its only charged when they travel out of Chicago.. gas isn't that expensive! And.. they never refunded that fee. The work looks to be done properly. Never again. If I must, then only for Chicago properties.

They couldn't do my initial railing idea for some concrete floating stairs, but Danny offered pictures of samples that they could do. Appreciated their honesty very much vs them attempting to do what I wanted and becoming a nightmare later on. I wanted to see some of their work in person, but they didn't have much on site. I was given a few addresses of their previous work and after checking them out, we made a contract. There was about a 2 week wait for installing and the actual installment took 2 days. They were very quick and professional and I would recommend them to anyone.

Had them fix our front bldg gate iron door that was not catching & locking. Had a previous company…read morefix 2x (1st time door came off hinges, subsequently didn't lock good after that fix and charged us again to "fix" the locking issue..but didn't last long). They insisted that we needed a whole new door and posts and would cost $$$$. Came across Trejos truck and called the number for a quote. They fixed the door PROPERLY (which the first business should have done with the first job). The lock catches much better now because they added an iron lip around the door lock, added an overhead support bar to the door, added a spring and fixed the rusting posts for $550. Much more reasonable that prior company AND they didn't try to tell us we needed an entirely new gate. We have other iron work that is needed and would use them again and would refer others to them.
