Pretty disappointed with my visit to this hotel. The only thing that stood out was the incredible view from the lobby, as well as if you have a room with a patio. - the room was nice and offered AC, but there was blood on our bedsheets - we paid about $250/night - the treadmill in the gym was out of order - the restaurant was a disappointing experience - there was no parking outside

Stayed here over the Easter holiday weekend. The location is absolutely stunning. Overlooking the water. The building and garden area is beautiful, including the lobby. Both restaurants had good food and it was reasonably priced. The view from the main restaurant windows is definitely worth getting up early. The service at both the restaurants and front desk were both great. They offer a $10 voucher for the main restaurant for each day you forgo room service. I advise to get this at the beginning of your stay to make it worthwhile. Otherwise you may not have enough time to use it. The rooms are a bit dated and don't really match the rest of the property. Parking can be limited as many locals eat in the restaurants and use the dock. Would be a beautiful venue for a wedding or special event. The gym is located in a strange area where you have to go over to the conference area or walk through the outside courtyard. Overall good stay and would recommend.

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, the lobby is alright and the room looks modern. The house keeping is below par, they have no consistency or follow any check list and they don't seem to give any plastic laundry bag to put your dirty clothes unless you ask the front desk! The toiletries, sometimes they give you the full amount and some days half the amount! The shower curtain in my hotel room stinks, I'm surprised that don't change it often. The bedsheets as I have noticed, they changed ours on the fourth night of our stay. The night table, counter top and blinds have layers of dust, I wonder if every room nobody bother dusting those areas. Thursday morning before I left the room for house keeping duties, I always zip up my luggage a certain way laying on top of a luggage rack but when I returned I find my luggage about five inches unzipped. Creepy, must be ghosts! I would get out around 11:30-12pm and my room is usually ready around 2-3pm. The place is tugged away and you have to commute at least 35mins to Langford for Costco, theatres, more choices of restaurants. But good luck if there's an accident on that Sooke rd that takes you to and from the hotel to the city area, rush hour or an accident will set you back an hour or more on top of the actual commute time! This hotel have NO complimentary breakfast, so you have to either purchase breakfast from their restaurant or drive 5mins out to a McDonald's, Sushi restaurant and a food market. Overall, if you must stay a night then it's ok but if you're thinking of staying more than one night, you might want to rethink it!

I booked this place because it was a little outside of Victoria, and it was very nice. I read some good and bad reviews. This place was absolutely amazing. We checked in early and only had to wait 20 minutes to get into our room. The room was absolutely gorgeous. We ate at both restaurants in the building and they were terrific. One is a sports bar and has limited food but they serve up to 11:40 PM. Where as the restaurant closes at 10. I found some stipulations on the outside seating area and the restaurant. First is that the outside has gas lit fireplaces for your convenience. It includes a nice seating area. However we wanted to order appetizer and alcohol. Since it was after 8 PM you aren't permitted to have alcohol outside due to laws and regulations. The first night they let me do it until my food was ready and we had to eat inside. The gym is larger than any gym I've ever experienced at a hotel. They have free weights and some machines. You can get a nice shoulders, chest, and back workout here. Overall this place was amazing. The staff was so wonderful to all of the questions that I had. They were kind and generous. I will come back. I highly recommend going here.

What you see is not what you get... The Prestige is trying to act like a fancy resort, but it falls a bit short Pros - Very kind management who allowed for an early check in - Beautiful, spacious rooms - Quiet, sleep-filled nights - Very impressive showers - $10/day discounts to be used in the hotel if maid service is not used. Cons - Complimentary Wifi is 2Mbits, if you want decent wifi, you have to pay an addition $10/day for their Premium Wifi option - which is 72Mbits (NOTE: We spent the previous night at a Holiday Inn Express in Richmond and the FREE Wifi was 4Mbits) - $3 coffee charge for guests of the hotel (Coffee is usually free at other hotel chains) - Housekeeping needs a little help.. - When we checked into our hotel, there were two dirty wine glasses sitting outside our door. - The runner on the bed had many stains on it from prior guests. - A build up of dirt on the desks and in the bathrooms. - The fan in the bathroom was loud and rattled. If you want to see how a Best Western should be run, just head up the coast to the Tin Wis in Tofino.

WOW! After coming from a substandard hotel in Victoria to this - it was just like night and day and then some! First off, the location is divine.. the views of the water are just picturesque. The hotel was pretty "grand" in itself. You can tell they feel some major pride taking care of this place. Everything shined including the lovely glass chandelier! On the subject of dogs - other hotels should use this one as an example of what a dog friendly hotel really is like. From the get go they were on top of that. We had an awesome room that included a sweet dog bed as well as a big dog bowl. They had doggie bags at the desk. I was concerned about where my dog was going to go to the bathroom however and was walking around trying to figure that out. I headed to the front desk and he pointed to this huge grassy area that was very well kept up. I told him that I did not think that that would have been a spot to walk my dog. And he responded with - we really love our dogs!! EVEN if I did not have a dog I would come back here in a heartbeat between the lovely decor in the rooms, to the cleanliness, to the upbeat customer service. Free and fast wifi, quiet, clean and comfortable (my favorite things about being in a hotel). I dig Best Westerns anyway and this place just confirmed the reason why. It's like a best kept secret doggone it!

It was wrong of me to create a premonition of bad experiences in my head only because of what I've read so far on Yelp. I was lucky--my stay went well. Here is a list of things I observed during my visit: -courteous receptionists, restaurant servers, other staff -vehicle parking is at the front of the hotel. It was full of parked cars in the summer weekend. -absence of valet and bellhop--we are totally okay with that. My girl friends and I can still help ourselves without any problem so this is a non-issue. I also understand that this could be an inconvenience to other people who truly require assistance. -we stayed in one of the rooms on the main level, outside is a rather long balcony which we shared with other patrons. The balcony not private or exclusive to our bedroom. We're okay with that too. -our bedroom had a high ceiling, so it looked spacious -our bathroom was rather large with a bathtub, toilet and one sink. The toilet is separated from the other bathroom fixtures by a door. -fridge, tv, coffeemaker, iron and board, and safe were provided. We didn't have a microwave. -everything was kept clean and tidy -their happy hour dinner menu at the restaurant was good: brussel sprouts, lobster cakes (or were those crab cakes?) were my fave... except for the meat in the chicken salad was smaller and not enough (disappointing). -four to five seals swam around their waterfront. We didn't expect to see any larger marine mammal in the area so having had the opportunity to look at them at close range is a good memory. With regards to some hotel expenses... -we paid around 400CAD/night for our room with one Queen and one pull-out. We were four adults who can split the hotel room bill equally so it was less expensive for everyone -we were told it was $500 to rent their car service. (we were just curious about their parked hotel car at the front but we didn't really need it)

We booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding right at the hotel (I think they do a lot of weddings). Obviously it's the nicest hotel in the area by far. Driving up I was thoroughly impressed by the exterior and a fancy Bentley with the hotel's name on it parked out front. The lobby is gorgeous and it gets you really excited to stay here. No one helps you with your luggage. Right away I thought that was weird. You have this gorgeous hotel with a Bentley out front and no one helps you with luggage. At check in, a woman grabbed my name and pulled up our room, went over the price. My husband said to me "I thought we got a discount?". Before I could respond, the employee abruptly said, "that IS the discounted price!" To which he was like "ya ok no problem" as she really was not friendly or inviting in any way. No smiling whatsoever. I've travelled a lot and the thing that sets hotels apart is service. Whether it's the Hyatt or the Holiday Inn, smiling goes a long way. After check in, we got to our room which didn't look like the photos we saw online. Online they were white and grey and looked very "beachy". Our room was very large and very clean but definitely not "beachy". I was impressed with the bathroom TV and the large shower. The bed was decent and the AC worked perfectly. We went to the hotel restaurant for dinner. Really beautiful inside and a gorgeous view. My husband and I are vegan and there were really no vegan options so we had to customize a pasta. The waiter was great about asking the chef what could be done. The odd part is that their happy hour menu had waaaay more vegetarian/vegan options than the main menu. But after a certain time, they don't allow you to order off the happy hour menu. Dinner was ok. The gym at this hotel was amazing! The pool was nothing special whatsoever. All in all, the hotel was adequate. With a few small changes, this place could be incredible. But no baggage help, a few unhappy staff members and a steep price just doesn't put his place above a 3 star hotel in my opinion. I liked the lobby, decor in the restaurant, views and the cleanliness.
Great stay at the Prestige Sooke. We booked through BC ferries Vacations. We booked 3 nights with ferry and reservation from the mainland. Great deal. We booked a balcony and it was gorgeous. The resort itself was beautiful. The decor was on point, everything looked clean and new. I used the pool and gym, both were great. The cafe was great grabbed coffee & pastry in the morning. We ate at West Coast Grill a couple of times, also was great. The views from our room were amazing. The room was clean and very spacious especially the bathroom. Great location, was able to explore the coast also Victoria. Overall, it was a great stay. We would stay here again. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. When I got there the employees were super rude they gave me the stink eye and they barely spoke then when I got into my room it sucked it was dirty the neighbours kept making noises and on top of that the pool closes to early the towels were dirty the shower in the room was terrible the restaurant was bad the vending machine was broken can a hotel get any worse.... Came on BC Ferries vacation special which alone saved $$$. Included ferry round fare, hotel stay for 3 nights & vouchers for breakfast and dinner to use for one day. Huge savings. A must to stay at this resort when visiting Sooke for a mini vacation. Hotel is unbelievable gorgeous and the staff are all top notch!! We had many small requests and all were fulfilled quickly and efficiently. Very impressed. Kudos to every one of the hotel staff members! read more

While the hotel itself is lovely, there is no viable transportation from Sooke to Victoria. Buses run infrequently, no taxis, no Uber. Only go here if you have a prearranged way of getting elsewhere. read more

Lovely stay for the night. I incidentally walked thru the men's room, (the main sign for the pool was on that door) and I discovered three chairs, and if memory recalls two stalls and a urinal, and presumably a sink. I back tracked through the woman's area, which is a short hallway, and a locked door to a maintenance room - no chairs, no rest room. So, for the men out there, enjoy the luxury of World Hotels Luxury, and if you wonder why your lady is not sure what the deal is, its because its a hallway with non of the accoutrements at her behest. She probably got the baby in her hands as well. Enjoy the urinal. read more

The food gave me food poisoning. Vomited in the bathroom. They didn't apologize and still had me pay for half my sandwich. The other half I left indigested in the bathroom. Said that since no one else was sick, (it must be my problem). Mediocre staff. Worse management. read more

We enjoyed the lovely decor and friendly, helpful people at the front desk. But....check and see if an event is being held during your stay. We had a wedding event held from 4-12:00 midnight. Parking was not available, and many areas of the hotel were closed off to hotel guests. The noise in the evening was very loud, even when we were in our room. I would not recommend coming when an event such as this is being held. It felt awkward to be a guest in the hotel! read more

We stayed at this Resort, last Sunday evening, and I forgot my diamond Heart ($200.00) necklace at this resort, and cleaning crew was honest to bring it to the office. Beautiful place on the outside and in the main lobby, rooms are like a Holiday Inn $99 a night place. Location is good for whale watching and the best restaurant in Sooke. Staff are useful, restaurant has good happy hour specials. Unless this place is priced at a massive bargain, I would look elsewhere. As we checked out Dion Phaneuf and his wife were checking in, he was once voted the most overrated defenceman in the NHL by his peers, maybe rather fitting that he chose this overrated place to stay. This hotel has a gorgeous location! Was invited for a wedding and it was perfect! Lots of space for sitting outside, patio, deck, fire pits. Just a great place to relax. Good at the restaurant was delicious but pricey. $20 appies with small portion sizes. But it's fine if it's in your budget. My main complaint is the indoor pool. It was gross! The water was cloudy and had floaties. Honest to god saw a bandaid. I don't think they mopped the floors in awhile! Didn't want to walk on the told. I was really disappointed considering how great everything else was. read more

My family and I decided to stay for three nights at this hotel, because it was a quiet place with a good location. We ordered food to our room and they brought up the wrong order. We called and asked them to change the plate -- they told us to go ahead and eat it and they said they would bring the right one. An hour later, my sister, my niece and I were all throwing up because of something in the food. We talked to the manager, Jacob, who was extremely rude and told us to go to the hospital if we were actually sick. We ended up staying at the hospital the entire day because we weren't recovering. The hospital gave us medication and by the next day we were doing better, but the hospital bills added up to $880 which the hotel did NOT help us with at all. On the last day, Jacob wasn't there (how convenient) and they asked us to pay for two nights. I have traveled extensively and this was undoubtedly one of my worst experiences ever in a hotel. Don't go to this Western Premier, because they don't care about you. read more

What's with the average rating for this gorgeous hotel? This is probably the best Best Western hotel we've ever been to and it was unfortunate we couldn't stay longer and enjoy this place. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night after watching the fireworks at Butchart Gardens. The reason we chose this place even though it was far from downtown and was quite pricey compared to others is because they had air conditioning. Most of the hotels in Victoria don't have AC and we wanted a hotel with AC. When we pulled up to the location, we were greeted by a gorgeous view of the water with boats. The lobby is beautifully decorated. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, modern, and new. We loved our short stay and will definitely be back. read more

We just spent two nights at Prestige Oceanfront Resort. We were in room 424, which was a spacious, clean room and offered waterfront views. The room was comfortable and even though the air conditioner was a bit noisy, it was a pleasant staying in this room. We attempted to enjoy the indoor pool and spa. I own a pool and spa in my own home and I know what a properly maintained one should look like. A pool in a hotel is used my a huge number of guests and the water needs to be monitored and treated constantly in order to protect the health of the guests using the pool. We quickly decided that it might be a health hazard and/or even dangerous to use either the pool or spa. The water of the pool looked like it was a mixture of water and milk! The color was revolting and definitely and did not demonstrate that the pool was being maintained! The spa was even worst! It had grey roam covering the water and it looked like they were cooking human soup in Sooke. This was extremely disgusting at the least and possibly a human health risk! I can't believe that this is allowed! I guess that there is no pool health and safety inspector in this very small town or this would not be allowed in any public pool in all of North America! Someone who is clueless might or might not be attempting to care for pool/spa part of the facility. It's clear that despite any comments to the contrary, the management truly does not care to take the necessary steps to safeguard the health of their guests! There are many reviews of this hotel with similar comments on the same subject. If they truly cared to remedy this dangerous situation, they would have long ago! This is my personal opinion based on my stay here on August 13-15 2018. On our second day of our two day stay, we headed out at 7 AM and did not return to our room until almost 4 PM. Guess what? The room was not made up and that was extremely disappointing, to say the least! Upon discussing this with the front desk, I was told that the priority of housekeeping was to prepare the rooms for the incoming guests! Guess what? I'm a guest too and don't really give a crap about that. Any hotel should know that making up a room for a guest that is already checked in after 4 PM is totally unacceptable. Bottom line........Would I stay here again? Yes, because the room was clean and comfortable and there are very limited choices is this very small town. Would I go out of my way to return to any of the Prestige Resort Properties, I think not! Parking a Bentley at the front door of your hotel, does nothing to improve the guest's experience. You might as well park a submarine at your front door if you can't take figure out how to provide the service that you attempt to convey to your guests. read more

Your bartender in the pub from the night we stayed (sorry, I have forgotten the name) was incredibly gracious and patient, despite that, at the time, he had 24--yes--24 customers to attend to, all of whom wanted food as well. I have found that, despite the independent status and mindset of all BW membership fee properties, a consistent scenario in all of them of under-staffing bar and restaurant facilities exists. I do not know why. It is why we often choose Hilton properties (that have F&B) over BW. We personally saw 3 four-tops walk out. There's $350 you never saw. It is also not what I expect of a Premier tier BW. Anyway, the poor man was overwhelmed...just slammed...and service was understandably slow. Due to your hotel's set-up, he had to run across the spacious lobby for each food order and wait for the dumbwaiter, or worse. Those are patently atrocious ergonomics. When he finally asked for mercy, he got a waitress who could not have been of less help to him. Yet, he was pleasant, kind and took that "little extra" minute for us and it was greatly appreciated. Whoever he is, I hope you give him a commendation...and some help, for Pete's sake! The facility? It was a very busy night, we were a late reservation and, let's face it, all hotels have a few oddball rooms. Our 2 queen was wonderful in every way, except that it was so narrow as to be very cramped. Perhaps it was this particular room, being on an inside corner, off of the main balcony, next to the elevator. However, again, a little too cramped to meet our expectations of a Premier level BW. Maybe the other rooms were better, I don't know; we had no time for "housecleaning snooping" the next day. Your pet policy is the best we've seen and we...and our 15-year old retired medical service dog...thank you for that. Our journey was a 3-week, 8000 km trip and your pet policy and care won 1st place. Truly stand-out. Thank you. So, overall? Eh (in the American way). read more

Attitude from staff. Many other reviews have said the same. We checked in and weren't told anything about the property. As it was late we just went to bed. Upon waking we received a call about when we would check out. We told them 12 if possible. They said no problem. When checking out we were then informed of a $50 late check out fee that was non negotiable. The lady was quite rude and probably shouldn't be in a position to deal with the public. Room stunk of mold and I would never stay here again. It could be a nice property if they took care of it and hired professional acting people. Bad experience and won't make it another time. read more

We were really looking forward to our stay here on the long weekend, having seen the photos on their website and were anticipating our experience with a luxury resort and great food. When we arrived, the lobby appeared worn. There were quite a few people and young children milling around; busy, as it was a long weekend. There were a long set of muddy footprints that continued across the dark floors. We were checked in and directed to the elevator to the third floor. The elevator was small and the only one servicing our end of the building. It was sometimes a long wait, and then the 'down' button stopped working all together shortly after we arrived. The only set of stairs on our floor did not take you down to the lobby, but instead, wove through the bowels of the building to dump you into the back lane near the garbage can. The stairwell smelled of old food and garbage: obviously the garbage route for banquet staff. We found our room with the door open. The room was 'tired' looking. It looked as if it was a party room that had been well used. The furniture nicked and worn, our bed looked like people had been sitting on it. TV is old and of very poor quality graphics. We had a large private deck, but it was filthy and you could not go out onto it without shoes. The air-conditioning unit located on our deck as well as the room above, leaked and resulted in a large stream of water running down the center of the deck. These units were also very noisy. The balcony overlooked a central courtyard that overlooked the harbour. Very pretty and well landscaped, offering the guests a place to gather around gas firepits. However, there was a wedding reception so this area was taken over by many very young people and small children, which resulted in a lot of noise and partying that continued through the night, (complete with random piercing drunken 'whooooo" cries by some young male). We experienced a woman screaming psychotically at her partner at 3:00 in the AM in the hallway, which carried on until they entered their room. We then heard someone knocking on their door and the noise finally stopped. The restaurant looked okay, and we thought we were going to get a nice meal. Most of the menu was seafood, and we opted for a very expensive selection of strip loin, which had not been trimmed. By the time we got all the gristle and fat cut away, the plates were piled high with unattractive remnants of poorly cut beef. It was extremely salty as well, which was disappointing. During our meal, we were swarmed by hundreds of fruit flies which made it difficult to dine peacefully. We finally got up in the AM feeling extremely unrested and extremely disappointed in our stay. We opted for coffee from their coffee bar downstairs but were informed the espresso machine was not working. We had a reservation for brunch but we cancelled it and left. As we had booked on points, we could not be offered a discounted rate, instead, the desk clerk quickly handed us a card for a free upgrade which we will not be using. As we were leaving, there were various people splayed out across the furniture in obvious hungover condition, making crude comments to each other. Small children running everywhere, noisy, and the front door area littered with cigarette butts. Overall, very disappointing. We had hopes for another gem of a find on Vancouver Island, but sadly, this appears to be the local weekend hangout for the residents' of Sooke. The photos on the website do not truly depict the rooms today. They are worn, tired, and have that 'party house' feel to it. Not a place to go if you want peace, quiet and luxury resort experiences. read more

I got a Groupon for the place. The outside looked amazing as well as the inside lobby, but because it was so ELIGANT LOOKING, I expected our room to be nicer. Our room was small, the bedding was torn up and cheap. We had a huge patio and a tv in our bathroom. Those were the highlights. The restaurant there wasn't very good and way overpriced. 8 chicken wings and 3 meatballs $40. read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. Aside from the awesome view, this place was pretty average and the staff were very disappointing. We didn't spend much time here as I had heard that the restaurant isn't very good. We went out for our anniversary dinner and were back in our hotel room and almost asleep at about 11pm when the people next door arrived back to their room. I'm not sure if these people just had absolutely zero respect for the people around them or were just completely ignorant to the fact that they weren't the only people staying in the hotel, but they were so loud it was almost comical. They had two kids that were having some sort of jumping off the bed competition in which the parents would scream and clap after they crashed into the floor. Like, really?! After 20 minutes of this my husband called the front desk and asked them to either call or come up and ask them to stop. The guy who answered the phone said the family had recently left the dining room (he knew exactly who we were talking about) and they were 'probably just trying to get the kids to bed'. Ummm, no, that is most definitely not what they were trying to do. He said he would go check on them anyway, which never happened, as the noise went on another 30 mins before they eventually became quiet. I tried turning on the a/c to drown out the noise, to no avail. There was no parking in front of the hotel, as there was a wedding, so we had to park down below where there was no connection to the hotel. Get your customer service going, Prestige. This place was extremely disappointing, will not recommend, will not return. read more

I wore earplugs to drown out the constant plumbing noises in our wall, then turned on the the noisy, clanking fan to add a layer of white noise. The fan noise was too much for my wife, though, so that plan failed. My brother stayed there with his wife the following night. A rowdy wedding was going on, with banging of the 10 ft doors carrying on until 3 am. He said he got 3 hours sleep ... a hundred bucks an hour. read more

We booked Prestige Oceanfront resort primarily because it has a pool for our kids to swim in. However, when we got to the pool on our first night, we discovered the pool and the hot tub water to be green and cloudy. Green cloudy pool water is usually caused by algae growth as a result of failed filtration or lack of chlorination. I was concerned for the health of my children and would not let them swim in the water. As an experienced lifeguard, whenever a pool I worked at became green and cloudy we shut down the pool because it is considered a public health safety risk. I contacted the reception the next morning and they told me they would look into the issue. That night I called reception again and they told me they had fixed the issue. When I went to the pool a few minutes later the pool was exactly the same green cloudy color as before. I complained to a manager the following morning and she told me the pool had been drained and refilled the previous day. I am not sure how big the pool is but I would estimate it to be about 25000 gallons. I read online it takes about 14 hours to drain a pool this size. I would guess it would take even longer to fill it. So I am not sure how they could have drained and refilled the pool in 12 hours when it would take at least 24, or why the pool was exactly the same color green as the previous day. In my opinion, management did not take my concerns seriously and lied about what they did to try to fix the issue. As far as I am aware the pool was never shut down and is likely still full of algae and perhaps bacteria that might pose a public health risk to hotel patrons. read more

This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. Jen the night manager was simply amazing! This is a definite recommend!

The hotel is in a beautiful location. There are plenty of parks, beaches and trails within driving distance and the hotel posted whale-watching tour info in its lobby. My family and I visited at the end of August on a Groupon promotion and there didn't seem to be very many other guests, which was kind of a treat. The room was very clean with no carpet - which was interesting but welcome since a couple of us are asthmatic - and my kids got a kick out of the wall-mounted TV in the bathroom. As the previous reviewer noted, it took some exploring to find the pool as the layout is kind of odd and signage is at a minimum. The pool itself is accessed through the separate mens' and ladies' dressing rooms which works fine when the door keys do - not so well when they didn't! The restaurant was pricey but the food and service were very good, and the wine and beer selection vast. No chance to use the spa - or the spa credit we got when we bought the Groupon - because they were short-staffed. "One of our girls called in sick for today and tomorrow." Bummer. We were woken up both nights of our stay by a loud industrial buzz/hum that seemed to be coming from the roof of the building (we were on the 5th & top floor) although the noise stopped after a few minutes and the lady at the front desk expressed mystification when we mentioned it. If I had paid full price I would be very disappointed, but at about $150.00 US/night it was fine. read more

New accommodation and quite nice. I love the view of the harbour-the vaulted ceilings and the roominess of the suite. Very clean and very comfortable. Staff was friendly too. Probably one of the best of two or three places to stay this side of the greater Victoria area. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a week in July of 19 to attend a seminar with 28 others. The seminar was for people with severe allergies including food and environmental triggers. For us to be there, the hotel staff had to do quite a bit of work for us--some of the rooms had to be specially cleaned, for example. Before we arrived we each filled out extensive surveys of what we could and couldn't eat. The chef then had to work around 30 different people's strange and severe food issues to feed us 3 delicious meals a day (and snacks as well!) This was the first time I have eaten in a restaurant type situation for years. And it was such a treat. The food was amazing, fish, beef, chicken, a vegetarian entree. Tons of roasted veggies, a full salad bar, etc. Once I had to ask the kitchen about ingredients in a roll, they took the time to call the bakery and got right back to me. All this extra care was done with graciousness and great hospitality. I didn't feel embarrassed or like I was a pain. Thank you so much for all you did! Its a beautiful setting and the whole resort area is in great shape. read more

Lovely, spacious, great view and great service. The waiter/bartender was particularly friendly and helpful in planning what to do in and around Sooke. And....the manager is mailing back my favorite hat, which I foolishly left behind in my room! read more

The rooms are beautiful, that is where the good ends. I paid for rooms here (I actually leave Monday morning) and they are also having a wedding here. It seems even though the wedding people are not actually staying at the hotel they get to use all the parking spots that those of us paying guests actually need when returning to our rooms. The front desk will do nothing abought it., Then I was put on the 2nd (main floor) never to a very rude person who was cackling and laughing so loud at 11:30 pm that it sounded like they were in my room. After 3 calls to the frontdesk, they moved me to the 5th floor. Right above a balcony where the stupid wedding party was celebrating and again as I type this at 12:12 are making huge amounts of noise. I guess their actual paying customers mean nothing to them as long as the wedding party gets what they want. I would never book here again and I highly suggest you do not either. There is no room service (or if there is there is no information on it in the room) You have to pre-book to get into the restaurant. Some rooms do not have microwaves Room service did not replenish the shampoo and conditioner that was used. I would mention the free wifi but it was so bad I could barely leave this review PING 15 ms DOWNLOAD 1.48 Mbps UPLOAD 0.13 Mbps I suggest staying in Langford of Victoria and driving to Sooke over staying at this place because the 'great view' does not make up for other downfalls. I am glad I only have one more night after tonight. read more

Aside from the view, there's nothing to like about this hotel. It was so hard to find a parking in front of the hotel because there was a wedding so we had to wait outside for 20 minutes to get a spot. There are only 2 small elevators, one on each side of the hotel - so waiting was quite a hassle. Plus we were stuck in the elevator for 15 minutes due to overheating. The ground area where the fire pits are were also closed off for the wedding party. At night, we could also hear the next door guests - idk if they're just abnoxiously loud or the soundproofing of the hotel was just terrible. The staff were nice and all but the service was just average. Overall, I don't think the hotel deserves the name "prestige." read more

I stayed at the Prestige in Sooke for 2 nights attending a retreat. I have no real complaints about the rooms, they were clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff were polite and professional for the most part. I had a pleasant stay that was unfortunately marred by my experience at checkout - The hotel has a rather militant approach to checkout that customers should be alerted to when they are checking in. My friend and I had our bags packed and ready to go but decided to leave them in our room while we went to the hotel catered breakfast in the conference rooms at 10am. We left the breakfast at 10:56 to immediately return to our room, retrieve our belongings and checkout. By the time we reached the 4th floor, my key card had been deactivated and we had no access to our room...we had yet to formally check out. We had to go back down to reception like naughty children and ask permission to re-enter the room and get our bags. Basically, at the stroke of 11am all room keys for customers who are checking out that day are automatically deactivated. I let the staff at the reception know that I find this policy harsh, unnecessary and not very customer service orientated. They apologized and said it was just "programmed' that way and it was out of their hands. Well, I feel that perhaps this policy should be revised and a reasonable grace period allowed for customers who may need to access the room slightly after 11, for luggage, or any other eventuality. Perhaps the key card system could be "reprogrammed" to allow customers an extra half an hour...15 minutes even! I was left feeling annoyed and unwelcome. You would think a resort hotel like the Prestige in Sooke would want customers to feel welcome, relaxed and encourage repeat business. In my view, the militant door locking policy at 11am on the dot is strange and unnecessary. If someone stays an for an excessive amount time in their room after checkout, charge them for late checkout or for another night! But for customers who are a little slow on the uptake, perhaps allowing them a little time to grab their bags and coat is a better idea. The way it is now the 11am door locking policy shouts: "Get out and don't let the door hit you on the way out! read more

What a horrible experience for a beautiful hotel and at almost $700 for 2 nights I expected a lot more. In Aug My husband and our 2 children stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding. We got to the hotel late friday, everything was fine for the check-in. We got up to our room and their was room service trays out side the room next to us. I was going to give our 9 month old a bath before bed, the bath tub was clearly not cleaned after the last guest had left the hotel so we decided to have shower. The next day we head out for breakfast ( the room service trays from the room next to us were still in the hall) and return at 12pm to find the maid service never attended to our room. We decided to take the kids down to the pool before getting ready for the wedding. We got down and the pool was so cloudy you couldn't even see the second step and the hot tub was green. Needless to say we would not allow our children in the pool after seeing this. On our way back up we spoke to the front desk person and let her know the issues we were having, she assured us the main would be sent up, the room service trays would be taken care of, she would let maintenance know about the pool and would give us a credit on our bill. We went to the wedding and when we returned to our room, the room service trays were still in the hall and SURPRISE our room was not made up. We went to check out the next day and the gave us a $50 credit .... I was so disappointed, spending nearly $700 and this was all they could do for us. I do not recommend and I will not be returning. read more

First the pros: A lovely view and we were able to see seals in the water in the harbour and watch the activity of the boats in the harbour. Very scenic. I enjoyed the 2 lb steamer pot of seafood (containing mussels, clams, sausage) in a creamy sauce. But: my husband felt the 2 lbs wasn't enough for us because he was hungry so he also ordered calamari. (The 2 lbs obviously included a lot of shells.) The calamari was not very tasty and thankfully I was already mostly full because the part I tried had nothing special about it and the coating was not the kind I prefer on calimari. The dipping sauce to go with it was flavourless. Decor: bland but ok, in a corporate hotel kind of way. But not an atmosphere that I found attractive. Prices: on the high side. read more

We stayed for a weekend when this hotel first opened up. Great service, excellent food and lovely hotel. Managed to get a swim in the pool, pedicure at the spa and was able to explore local beaches and parks recommended by staff. Room was clean, spacious and awesome! We ended up buying the same mattress later on, after our stay there since it was so comfotable and we were needing to replace ours! lol. Great view from our room. read more
