We had a wonderful stay at The Oswego Hotel! We knew ahead of time that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, but honestly, our room stayed at the perfect temperature the entire time. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in, and the sound machine was a 10/10. I loved it so much that I actually tried to buy the same one for my home! The location is fantastic if you plan to explore on foot, and the parking garage was convenient and easy to use for those bringing a car. The staff were also incredibly accommodating; they offer early check-in or late check-out when availability allows, and they'll happily hold your luggage for extended periods so you can keep exploring the city without carrying everything around. One fun bonus: don't forget to try the complimentary Hangry Hippo gummies! The light blue ones were my favorite. Overall, this was a comfortable, convenient, and welcoming place to stay. We'd absolutely stay here again. read more

Got put here very last-minute after work forgot to include me at a different hotel. Despite only having a room booked for me 5 minutes prior, check-in was very smooth. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. There was no wait at all to check-in. Check-out was also very quick, there was no line so it only took a minute. The hotel has parking but requires a room key to go down into the underground parking lot. There are lots of spots available. The hotel also allows cars to be parked after checkout until 3pm (as of writing), which is really nice of them. The room I received was spacious. Upon arrival, there were nature sounds (birds, wind, forest theme) playing and the fan was on. There is heating but no air conditioning, and so the room was pretty warm, even for early April weather. I was given a room on the 7th floor, for reference. My room had a full kitchen, including a stove, fridge, sink, and microwave. Even had a taller dining table that serves as a kitchen island. The bathroom is big and feels luxurious, with both a shower and a bathtub. There were many towels supplied, as well as body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Overall a great experience. Lovely boutique style hotel near Fisherman's Wharf and the Victoria Harbour. This was the one hotel that offered 2 bedroom suites (and a sofa bed) which accommodated 6 people. In addition, they're also dog friendly (additional fee per night) which makes it really easy to travel with the entire family. The sofa bed was slanted which made it really uncomfortable to sleep on, but the actual beds were heavenly. The hotel has a very small gym (1 treadmill, 1 bike, 1 elliptical and some weights) and it was very busy. That was the only amenity the hotel offered (no pool, hot tub, etc). The staff were really friendly but overall the hotel could use a bit of work. Nevertheless, I would return as having the entire family in one place was priceless. read more

UPDATE: After a super uncomfortable night we were able to move to another room. Autumn, the guest services manager went above and beyond to ensure the rest of our stay was perfect. BEWARE of room 305. You couldn't pay me to stay at this hotel again. I've never had a worse experience at a hotel in my life. They will give you a room where the door to the outside does not open. The room is too hot to even be able to comfortably use the washroom. When we spoke with the front desk they told us that there was nothing that could be done about the door and there were no other rooms available. When we asked for more fans they gave us two broken fans. They offered to comp our parking which isn't even in the same arena of beginning to make this up. read more

The Oswego is a lovely boutique hotel, perfectly located near the ferries and walking distance to shops, cafes and venues. The rooms are exceptionally nice and spacious with views (some with balconies) galore. We were there for three nights. Check in couldn't be any easier - although there were no luggage carts to be found. A few rides up and down the elevator to/from the parking garage.... BUT, the comfort level of the room makes up for it. Room service did a great job for our "brunch," and the food was perfectly done! I had the gravlax on an everything bagel. WOW! Loved it! And, FYI, if you drink coffee in the morning, you're going to LOVE the coffee they have in the rooms. We got to enjoy a "Jazz Night" down in the 500 restaurant-lounge. We were told reservations were required (fair warning), but got lucky to find a couple seats in the lounge area. They should make more available. The show, with the colorfully-talented Edie DaPonte, was both entertaining and ... well, GREAT! We got to do another brunch in the 500. I had the "breakfast sandwich." Excellent! The brioche bun was so fresh and toasted perfectly while the egg and generous bacon portion were delicious. The staff is friendly and efficient. My one (marginal) complaint would be the bedding. While everyone would think an über-soft bed and pillow would seem "luxurious," it is tough to sleep on without a sore back or neck. All-in-all, though, we would love to come back to the Oswego if we're ever in Victoria again. It's a great place. read more

Lots of space and great amenities. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Such great value for money.. We booked the top corner suite facing the harbour. Nice view. It was cold and raining so I can only imagine it will be even better in Spring and Summer! Only downside was some leaky ceiling repair happening outside our internal suite door but it was repaired pretty quickly. Loved the little bar downstairs and the food available. Roku in main livingroom was nice but more free tv apps could have been preloaded. TV not working in my bedroom. nice balcony and could be entered from three rooms. comfortable beds and clean. nice lounge area in lobby. had live music on the Sunday we were there but server was extremely rude, Three of us ordered drinks. my daughter ordered sparkling water and server walked away so we weren't sure if she was getting it. our drinks came, no napkins, no fork or toothpick for the olives that were ordered. asked host for napkins (mostly for spills server made while delivering drinks) He was polite and got them for us. served did not ask if we'd like anything else so we tipped musician and asked rude server for our bill. She gave us our bill and her machine wouldn't accept my card tap so I told her I'd use a different card and she pulled my card out of my hand without my permission and tried to tap it herself. returned it to me when she too could not tap at which point I paid with a different card. I also gave her a 20% tip because the host was nice and thought they may share tips but she did not deserve it at all. read more

Oswego is a nice hotel with clean, well appointed rooms and friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised to see our room even had a full kitchen. The accommodations would certainly pass as a business Hotel. The bed, however, was extremely firm. It was difficult for me to sleep on it. My husband even commented that it was the most firm bed he's ever slept on. Also, I got cold at night because there was only a sheet and thin comforter on the bed. The couch looked nice, but It wasn't terribly comfortable either. The restaurant was okay. It was clean. The service was friendly and prompt. We always felt welcomed here because of the prompt service. The Thai chicken wings were tasty and worth going back for again. In fact, we did go back a couple times for it. However, the restaurant/bar closed super early. It was shut down by 10pm I believe. On a summer weekend, I would expect them to be open later than that. After a long day/evening of doing tours we were looking forward to unwinding in the late evening at the nice bar. No such luck. Overall it's a nice hotel, not amazing but not horrible either. We would consider staying here again but would definitely look for other options. Solid three star. read more

Location is great with easy access to ferry and town. Would certainly stay here again. Booked a package through Clipper Vacations from Seattle but did my homework prior and liked the reviews and location of Oswego. I was not disappointed. All rooms feature a kitchenette which is a plus if for nothing else, free coffee. I like orange juice in the AM instead so the small refrigerator was great. Although there were pots and pans, we did not cook. The electric kettle was nice. Our goal was to sight see and not hang in the room so for the two of us, the Studio was perfect. The living space was small but with the Murphy bed folded into the wall, you could move around more. No AC but separate, electric radiators in den af very large bath with both tub and shower. Nice, bright tile work. No ATM on site Free Wi-Fi Parking only $10/day The bar/restaurant features live music and while we did not eat, we did sit at the bar enjoying the Thursday wine special at $5 glass for house wine. While I've had MUCH better wine, it was acceptable for $5. The rooms are clean, the staff courteous but the best part is the very hort walk from the ferry (less than 5min) and the proximity to town (8-10 min walk). The only major complaint I had was the hall way noise coming in from under the door. Next time I'll stuf a blanket there to block. The good news it there will be a next time at The Oswego. read more

A great gem of a hotel conveniently placed in the downtown area. We stayed at the Oswego for two nights. Upon our arrival, we were pleased to find out that our room had been upgraded for free to better accommodate our dog. The hotel is very welcoming to dogs, and provided a personalized welcome package. The room itself was even better than what we had expected. We stayed on the penthouse floor, and the panoramic view of the city was stunning. Our large patio was well-furnished. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the kitchen came fully stocked, allowing for an experience similar to home. The suite was modernly decorated, with comfortable beds. There was plenty of room, and the suite could have easily accommodated a large family. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, going above and beyond to make our experience a great one. They were happy to provide their own recommendations for local restaurants, some of which we tried and were very pleased with. We had no issue getting extra toiletries and other supplies when requested. The location of the hotel was very convenient. Being moments away from the harbour, we were able to walk to many businesses and explore central downtown rather than having to drive. Overall, we had an excellent experience at the Oswego. We'll be sure to stay here the next time we visit Victoria. read more

We we handed a small plate of cookies and a card wishing us Happy Anniversary. The suite is beautiful with lots of windows and cozy deck. The bathroom is nice with a large deep tub. The location is nice because it's tucked away in a residential community, but is within walking distance of lots of delicious food and entertainment options. If you're taking the Victorian Clipper from Seattle, it's super close to and easy to find. read more

I booked this hotel as a combo package from the Victoria Clipper, since I got a much better rate...around $80 per night for a studio suite. This' a nice modern boutique hotel, only 5 min walk from the Victoria Clipper drop off dock, and 10min walk to downtown Victoria. The lady at the front desk was friendly, and I opted to pay additional $22 CAD + tax for a one bedroom upgrade, which still beats the rate on Oswego's website. The decor of the room has a nice modern flare to it, there's no central AC in the room, since I guess the weather doesn't get hot enough. A nice full sized kitchen with granite counter top, the bathroom has a separate shower area, a big bath tub and a big granite marble top vanity. The only complains I have was the paint in the bathroom was peeling off around the shower area, and it took a while for the guest service personnel to pick up the phone, but once I made my request, they took cared of things promptly. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights. Booked them through Expedia for a 1-bedroom suite. They were booked full and we ended up with a 2-bedroom suite instead when we checked in. Loved the full kitchen and the french press. I never had a french press before and it was a wonderful experience. The coffee is much better than any hotel coffee I've had. Also loved their green apple touch; I was a bit hungry and enjoyed the refreshing green apple from the front desk (and pleasantly surprised that there're more in the room). The decor was modern, clean and lovely. We had a small balcony but didn't have a chance to sit out there. The beds were very soft and comfortable. The rates are also comparable/ cheap to the other boutique hotels/ chain hotels/ bed and breakfasts in the area. Definitely a fan! read more

Won a free night's stay at Oswego Hotel last year and wanted to write my review on it. The hotel is located away from the Inner Harbour area of downtown Victoria. It's a quick walk to reach the harbor, and because of it's distance, the area is quiet which is nice. The staff that works there were super friendly and the green apples at the reception desk are just so darn cute. Loved the modern set up of our suite. I am a sucker for kitchens in hotel rooms, so I thought that was great. The suite was super roomy and the patio is great too, which we did use the next morning to eat our breakfasts :) We also had a gift card for O Bistro. The restaurant was quite small but the food did not disappoint. I loved my Tequila Sunrise cocktail and we both loved their housemade hummus + pita bread, and beef medallion. After the meal, a nice walk near the water is highly recommended! The bed was very comfy and we did manage to use the kitchen to make french toasts in the morning! I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples who would like a quiet time and families as the suites are quite large! read more

A hidden gem located near the parliament building, the provincial museum and other amenities in Victoria. The staff are very friendly and attentive to the hotel guests. We had booked our mini vacation through BC Ferry Vacations and has booked a studio suite, to our surprise when we arrived at the Hotel we had been updated to a one bedroom suite. Our room was spacious and well laid out, bright with a small balcony. The room came with a fully stocked kitchen with cutlery, dishes, glassware, a coffee percolator and a french press and a dishwasher and flatscreen tvs in the bedroom and livingroom. Our room had a separate bathtub and shower, hair dryer and two bathrobes. If you decide to forgo having your towels and bed linens changed daily Hotel Oswego will give you a $5 voucher for each full day of your stay. They also provide separate recycling bins which other hotels sadly do not. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back! Awesome hotel We for sure would stay here again. In fact we would like to maybe even buy here. Location was perfect. the little things matter. The associate at the desk asked why we were visiting, which I told them was my 20th anniversary with my wife. Later that day, the Manager had a plate of desserts with a note congratulating us on our 20th. It was very cool. If I had any qualms, I'd say, it would be nice to have had A/C built into the unit, instead of a portable unit, but I imagine that is because they don't need A/C often. Room was well stocked with all kitchen items, french press, some coffee and tea, etc. Felt very comfortable to stay here, even if we needed to stay for a week. read more

First off I will say that the hotel is lovely, it's a great location and the staff was friendly. We especially loved the turn down service and the lovely mint water they left by the bed in the evening. The issue we has was that our room wasn't ready until an hour and a half after our scheduled check in time. I get that it was a busy weekend but I don't think it reasonable for us to have to wait that long. If we wanted to check out an hour and a half late, they would have charged us or declined our request. I don't know if we will go back. read more

I stayed here yesterday and it was lovely. They were out of regular rooms, so I had a "premium suite" which was beautiful. The bathroom was huge and decorated well, even though the tiny problem of no place to put your washrag in the shower was daunting. It was super clean however. The kitchen and living room were huge. My bedroom was a little on the tiny side, in comparison to the rest of the suite. Almost like they realized, oh no! We need a place to put the bed! It had a wonderful view of the east of the city and water, and a lovely balcony. When you walk in, the lights are a blazin' and the soft music is going. They had a lovely turn down service with mint water and Belgium chocolate squares. The front desk staff are pleasant. There is a bar downstairs and a restaurant, but I didn't check that out. It is walkable from the ferries and is hidden from most everything, so that when you walk to it, you almost walk by. I would stay here again. read more

The simplest definition of 'boutique hotel' is small, sophisticated and fashionable, offering unique décor and services. Yes, the Oswego Hotel falls into the small category if that means about 100 rooms, give or take. Sophisticated - no. The stove in my room was broken, and crammed next to the refrigerator so tight that the oven door hit the handle on the fridge when opening the oven. The desk leg was broken, the couch and side chair were stiff and uncomfortable, and the bed was a lumpy hard wreck with a sheet and a thin comforter. The weather was too cold for just the sheet and not cold enough for a comforter. There was no comfortable seating in the room. Fashionable - no. The furnishings in my room were old, worn and some on the verge of falling apart. I have seen better furniture at Walmart. The wall décor was boring and cliché. Not the décor I expected from the term "boutique hotel". Services - not even. My room was only 'refreshed' one time during my 7 night stay. I had used one of the provided robes, and dropped a bit of food on it, so I put it with the soiled towels to be removed with the used laundry. Upon returning to the room, I found the soiled robe had been re-hung and not removed. Apparently the 'refresher' decided I didn't need a clean robe. I also found that I was not provided toilet paper, or coffee and creamer as was in the room when I had arrived. I suppose I have a different definition of 'refreshed'. During my 7 night stay, the restaurant was open 3 of those nights. One of the most annoying experiences during my stay was the fact that they closed the restaurant on Saturday night to accommodate some sort of private party, denying the hotel guests any admittance to either the lounge area, bar area, or restaurant. The private party had live entertainment that could be heard up to the third floor from its' ground floor location. This total 'money-grab' and denial of expected services to hotel guests, as well as the annoying volume of music, was appalling. Oh, and by the way - make sure you read the fine print on all of the little 'signs' posted around the room. If you fail to wash your dishes before checking out, you may well be charged a $150 cleaning fee. And for heaven's sake, make sure you tell the front desk you want to pay $29 for a small bottle of their bathroom personal care products. I almost forgot - bring your earplugs, because the walls, floors and ceilings are not soundproof and you will hear everyone walking or talking in any of the adjoining accommodations. read more

My boyfriend and I are moving to Victoria in the fall, and we were in town for a little while to search for apartments. When I first saw pictures of this hotel I was really excited that it wasn't super expensive, and looked really nice. I almost booked a room at The Empress, and now I wish I had. When we got in, the lady at the front desk was really nice and helpful. The hotel room seemed beautiful. The Oswego, while very aesthetically pleasing, was a disappointment. It seems as though it's designed to make people think it's a luxury hotel, while it provides few amenities. The bed was the most disappointing of all, it was a murphy bed. My boyfriend has trouble sleeping as it is, but this bed made it literally impossible for him to sleep for 2 full nights. It was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had to pay $120 for. Also, the hotel supplied this room with a 1L bottle of Aqua Panna, for $4. We were really thirsty when we got in and drank this bottle. A couple nights later, we had forgotten to pick up water on the way home from dinner, and were really thirsty. We ordered 3 bottles of water from room service, and they brought up 3 370ML bottles of Dasani, which they charged me $12 for. If all you care about in external appeal...this is the hotel for you! I will never stay here, or in any of the other hotels that this company owns, ever again! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff Downsides: the pullout couch (which I was subjected to, as I was its my parents) was horrible, as in i could feel every spring. Didn't think they still made sleeper sofas that way anymore, maybe they do in Canada. Also, no toiletries provided. Maybe if you call down for them, but lots of times I don't bring items because I expect they'll be there when I check in. This hotel turned out to be just okay. Be aware, each room does not have air conditioning, so it can get rather hot during certain times of the year. My fiance and I did not even think to ask about air conditioning because it is such a common item in hotels around the world. Since the room did not have air conditioning, we had to open up the windows to get some fresh air circulating in the room. That made it just that....tolerable, but not completely comfortable. Also, our room faced Oswego St., and it got noisy at times when the windows were cracked open. Wake up Oswego Hotel Management, we are in the 21st century!!! If you expect your patrons to be comfortable, at least you should offer air conditioning. My fiance and I would not stay here again. read more

Two weeks ago we decided to take the Clipper from Seattle to Victoria thinking we may soon be running out of sunshine. We chose the Oswego as it is dog friendly and they offered a special "dogs stay free" for the month of September. Pretty awesome when you've got two little dogs that have to go everywhere with you. We did a simple overnight stay. Overall, I would say the Oswego is a great spot. Well situated a couple of blocks from the Victoria Clipper terminal and it's a quiet neighborhood. I agree that the rooms are well kept, clean and very user friendly with the kitchen suites. I have no complaints really about the room or atmosphere or location. What I was underwhelmed by was the attention to my dogs (or any dogs). If you're going to be dog-friendly and if you're going to advertise specials to accommodate dog guests then there should be more of an effort paid to attention to the animals. It would have been handy to have a dog bowl by the front door or somewhere convenient in the lobby for my little ones to take a sip. As well, no treats at the counter? Now... I don't have to feed my dog treats but to see them there would have meant you paid attention. I was disappointed that there wasn't instant attention given to the priority of the dogs and where we could take them close by (especially, as we arrived before 3:00) and what kind of accommodations might be near by i.e. doggy toy stores, doggy spas or doggy day-care. I felt getting this information was a bit like the old pulling of teeth. I'm also disappointed to find out I couldn't have my pooches with me on the really cool patio at the Oswego (or any outdoor restaurant space in Victoria). Apparently, as it is a food service area, they are not allowed. Someone ought to work on a loophole in that, especially if you have a hotel that accommodates dog guests. The desk clerks answer was to leave my dog outside. Ummm... no. I don't leave my dogs where they can get snatched up or out of my control. Overall... good place to place your head at night. A convenient bar for a night cap (as long as your night cap is before 10:00) and a good location. Next time we go.... we'll have to leave the babies behind. read more

This was a very beautiful hotel. Rooms were kept clean, staff was friendly, everything was very comfortable! This was also a great value hotel and close to the Clipper so that we did not have to walk too far. I have a few notes and recommendations: 1. There is no pool or hot tub here. 2. You can hear everything going on in the hallways, which is not a problem when you have quiet neighbors, as we did most of the time, but occasionally things got a little loud. 3. The wifi can be hit or miss and is a little slow at times. The log in screen sometimes wouldn't come up on my phone and this made it difficult to use. 4. A blanket would have been nice to have so that we could sit out on the balcony in the evening when it is a little cooler. read more

Moderately priced. Clean, well decorated hotel within short walking distance to some cute little tourist stops. The extra charge for parking $15 made the rate seem not as appealing. I guess that's typical to charge for parking in places such as this. The elevators were really slow and the room was a little on the hot, stuffy side. Some curtains or blackout shades would be really lovely. I don't think I got a wink of sleep for all the light shining in the window. Overall, it's a clean, well stocked hotel. I think I would stay elsewhere if I visit here again. read more

The Oswego is a short walk from the Blackball Ferry and restaurants. While it doesn't have a view of the harbor. It has a great view of the Victoria Pride Parade route. The staff very friendly and helpful. Nice lobby seating and outdoor seating in the summer. It has a small bar with food items. The rooms are chic and I loved that there was a separate tub and shower as I love baths and my husband doesn't have to wait for me to take a shower while I luxuriate. The 2-BR suite was very nice, and the room has a huge porch for my 6-yo to run around in! :) Very comfortable beds, elegant decor, a bottle of wine and a bowl of apples on the kitchen counter. Michael at the desk was very helpful and friendly. Walking distance to the Victoria Clipper dock and Coho Ferry. Too bad we could only stay for a night, but will definitely stay here again! read more

Such a great place to stay while in Victoria. It is a nice modern hotel that is apartment style with full kitchens and it is within walking distance to everything downtown. I've stayed in both the studio and 1 bedroom suites and both are comfortable, clean and and have all the small cookware, silverware and small appliances you may need to make a simple meal. Great for when you want to eat in before going out to explore the city. If you have a pooch bring him/her a long as this hotel is dog friendly. read more

Clean, modern and friendly. We stayed here during a mini-vacation to Victoria. It's situated in a great location and we walked to mostly everything from the hotel. Service was great. Fresh fruit infused water was being served in the lobby with glassware. Always a nice touch. Our room was upgraded to a suite. Sweet! We had a private room while our daughter slept on the pullout sofa bed. The kitchen was adequately supplied with nice appliances. Had we been staying longer, it would have been an easy room to cook in and live in for an extended stay. Everything was clean and the teas that were provided were likely the highest end teas I've had from a hotel room. The french press was also a nice touch. Very much appreciated. Our suite was situated on the corner of the building and I oddly felt like people could see in our windows even though we were high above the ground level. Easy fix: pull the drapes. Our stay was very comfortable and the service was great! read more

Good experience; pretty central location, parking while an added cost was easy to do yourself, and the rooms were clean and pretty nice. Rooms were pretty quiet and had a nice small balcony. There's a park nearby that had a couple homeless people that was a little disconcerting when you went by the first time, but everything was fine. Wood consider staying here again if I was in the area. read more

Stayed 1 night in a 2 bedroom suite with 4 adults and 3 little kids. Hotel staff very friendly at checkin. A phone call came after we checked out the room and asked if everything was ok. It was a lot of room for 2 families. They set up a crib for our under 2 yr old, the other kids also had a good night sleep on the pullout couch. Nice kitchen too bad we didn't have enough time to prepare food in the room. Nice bathroom amenities as well with 2 bath robes in each bath room. Rooms were very clean and modern. We slept just fine on the beds. We had a very enjoyable stay, and saved money over reserving 2 hotel rooms. read more

I booked a 2-bedroom suite and took my family up to Victoria. We had a great time and loved our room. Since we visited in the fall the lack of A/C was not a problem. Our beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bath were great, and everything was nice and clean. The location is great too, and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. Because the windows were open at night there was a little street noise, but in general the neighborhood is quiet, and the fresh air is a worthwhile tradeoff. I would definitely stay here again! read more
