It's so important such that I had put off getting my brows threaded (something I used to do ~monthly) since moving here many months ago. Anything less than perfect ratings was not a ringing endorsement for me, so I kept toughing it out until I found myself back in California. Unfortunately, they had grown a bit out of control and I redid my research out of desperation. Not sure why it didn't pop up for me before, but Glow Studio was a diamond in the rough. It had perfect reviews and they seemed like they knew what they were doing. I can, in fact, now confirm that Emily is an absolute goddess and my brows are saved. I got my brows and upper lip waxed for $35, which is pretty standard pricing. The studio is super cute and clean, and it was such a well-cultivated space that I felt relaxed just being there. The process was seamless, and I felt comfortable with Emily doing what she felt was best for my brows. They came out perfectly -- there was clearly cleaning that was done, they're not thin, and the length was maintained. The waxing process took 10-15 minutes and was not painful. I feel the need to talk about Emily, too. First off, she's got the best vibes and is so easy to talk to. She truly knows what she's doing and has your best interest at heart (she will not let you ruin your brows over some ephemeral trend, girlfriend). She thoroughly walks you through the process and explains the whys of things to you (e.g. why you need to avoid retinol and AHAs leading up to a wax sesh). She is so knowledgeable and confident that it's impossible to not trust her. She's so careful and good at what she does, and I can't imagine going anywhere else in this city. I booked online a few days in advance, and it was a straightforward process. You put in a request for when you'd like to come in and then it gets confirmed. Emily personally texted me the morning of with clear instructions on how to get there and was accommodating to me running a few minutes late. There are plenty of other services available, and I'm beyond excited to come back for a facial and more. Cannot recommend Glow Studio enough; am super grateful to Emily for making my entire day, honestly.

The first time I went I got a lash lift and today I got a facial and another lash lift (which usually lasts 1month and a half for me). Emily is really friendly and attentive to your needs. She was nice enough to give me cleanser and sunscreen samples. My face is feeling softer and moisturized than ever and I will definitely, definitely go back. The only downside is the studio itself is pretty hard to navigate/enter. Make sure to literally use the other door--left door. I kinda struggled and thought there was another entrace and I felt like an idiot. Use the key pad thingy to let them open the door and glow studios is on the third floor.

(I included before photos for reference) I had long, natural, almond shaped nails with UV gel french tips. One nail (left pointer) broke pretty short. Overall, I wanted a tip put on the one that broke, the rest to get trimmed down a little (still almond shape) and change them to clear coat. --I was VERY clear multiple times that this is what I wanted. Here are the list of problems that dont even include the ones that came from the language barrier: -they argued with me that THEY thought I had 'fill' not UV gel -they had me soak my nails/fingers in a plastic bag of what I believe to be acetone (it didnt eat through the bag though) -tech started to dremel off gel and kept walking away without completing a hand at a time -never actually removed all the gel -I told her again the length I wanted, and she cut it down to the length of the BROKEN nail --I immediately said no after the first nail and she GIGGLED *hindsight 20/20, I should have left at this point -she cut the others down to the same length -told me she couldnt do almond because they were so short and told me I could do round --I said yes because what else could I do at this point -she did NOT file them smooth --didnt even touch the nail that I had broken, I was too stunned to notice --at this point I just wanted out -she put the clear coats on and was overly aggressive with manipulating my fingers/hands *at this point I noticed that the tools werent sanitized and they were trading amongst the techs -she pulled one hand out of the light, dumped cuticle oil all over my hand (literally dripping) and walked away to the point that the woman next to me was holding in a laugh Overall, it ended up costing $45 to get the worst nails that are still jagged (im fixing it myself) and might give me an infection??? **if youve read this far youd be interested to know that the woman getting her nails done at the same time was literally crying in pain getting tips because there was a BAD chemical reaction and was burning her. She wanted white nails and the chemical reaction literally turned the pigment yellow. And the tech was saying its normal -dismissing her obvious pain.

Whitney knew exactly what to do for my problem skin. as soon as you walk in, the friendly staff have you check-in and offer you water or hot tea. the room where the facial is done is always clean and the linens are always soft and comfortable. Whitney puts you at ease with her gentle hands on your face and assesses the 'situation.' part of the facial deal is a arm/hand/should massage while the facial mask settles-in. i swear i may have fallen asleep during this 1-hr session. at the end of the session, Whitney never pressures you to buy any of the products she uses, but gives helpful advice to help me take better care of my skin. she even gave me a mini-bottled water and a mask sample specific for my skin to take home after my treatment! i still bought the honey-almond-oatmeal exfoliation mix because it was wonderful! when i left, my face felt so moist, refreshed, and balanced. i'm bound to continue to come back time and time again. NOTE: this faceluxe is moving to the MassageLuxe location down the street, on 11 S Euclid Ave within the month (i don't know the exact date). call them for more information.

I had booked a microdermabrasion and a pore refining facial. My aesthetician (who remained nameless) did not really talk to me about my services. She seemed confused that I had booked both and had to leave to "clear something up" with the front desk before we started. This may not be standard, but she did not use gloves - ever - during the appointment. She did the microdermabrasion then moved on to the facial, which was nothing short of applying a mask and waiting for it to dry. Generally, you get the option a verbal, step by step run down of what is going on. She cleaned off the mask and said "okay, you are done." She did not perform extractions claiming that I told her I had combination skin and extractions were only for oily skin. I explained that I have always received extractions without asking for them. She then, reluctantly, moved the table back up and used the extracting instrument. Her technique was borderline abbusive; not gently pressing to release blockages but rather scraping the extractor across my nose and cheeks. This should have been performed before the mask, after other steps had been performed, which would have made the process a bit easier on everyone. She placed nothing on my skin to soothe it after the scraping and that was it. When I went to check out, after only being in the room for a little under an hour, (the facial alone should have been 50 minutes) I received no receipt for my services and I have no idea what they really did or how much it cost. I really wanted to give this location another chance, given that I live two blocks away and I am a member, but with the consistant lack of professionalism at this location I will certainly not be back.
