We recently visited Pretty Soul Kitchen in Las Vegas and had mixed feelings about the experience. First, the atmosphere: the restaurant is beautifully decorated with a modern, soulful vibe. Unfortunately, that interaction changed the tone of the meal. Chef B appeared visibly annoyed when answering basic ingredient questions. When a guest has dietary restrictions, questions are not optional -- they are necessary. Feeling like an inconvenience for asking about food ingredients made the experience uncomfortable. Hospitality is just as important as food quality, and demeanor matters. I had a friend in town for the fight so we wanted to get something good to eat- everywhere else wait was so long. We came here and got seated right away. Most of the staff were bland but we just brushed it off. It was kind of like a seated day party vibe, which I enjoy. Hip hop/r&b, soul food, drinks, hookah. On the weekends they have "pass the aux" so you can add songs to the play list. I ended up getting the catfish/grits with crawfish etouffee- it was yum. I really enjoyed it. I'm so disappointed! This place used to be so good when it was at the location in the food hall. I'm not sure what happened since then. I originally tried Pretty Soul Kitchen based off Keith Lee's review and was amazed. This was my first time in the newer location off Sahara. The restaurant was busy but it felt like it was their first time having that many people in there. Servers were disorganized and didn't have an efficient process to get food and drinks out in a timely manner. I ordered the catfish and fries but the catfish was bland. My friend ordered sliders. Neither of which were worth going out of our way for. The music was good though and the place was clean and nicely decorated so I am giving some credit for that. read more

I came here for a brunch with my two besties and we love supporting a black family owned business! It was super cute inside and there was a great music. I absolutely loved my good ( catfish and grits). One star off for the well done waffles but the presentation for everything was great! I initially tired placing my order over the phone. I spoke with someone who I later found out was the owner.She was nasty, unprofessional and rude. She informed me that they don't take over the phone orders, which is fine. I was in route to the restaurant and my ETA was around five minutes, so I casually asked her how long would my order take, roughly. After I arrive and make the order in person (obviously). She replied it will take as long as it takes. Once I arrived to the establishment, the nasty attitude continued. The owner had an extremely despicable attitude. But I still placed my order to support a local business and while waiting for said order, I began to do what I've done quite literally hundreds of times before. Which is take my photos for my yelp review. While taking my photos the ill mannered owner yet again disgustingly engaged me by asking "why are you taking photos of my dining area? I begrudgingly informed her that im yelp elite, i write reviews and if she's ever had someone in her establishment taking photos for a review. she said yes. This place is COLD. like..the AC works works, which is necessary in Vegas. It's open late which is great when you need to scratch that soul food itch. I enjoyed all of it and was glad that the portion sizes were generous, so much so that I could only finish half. The only thing that I didn't particularly enjoy was the hot sauce. What a cute little soul food find! Regin was a phenomenal server & we found out she's from Alabama, yay! Good southern food! From the time we walked in & throughout our dining experience, we never wanted for anything. From our main server, Regin, to other servers & bussers, we got everything we needed & the food all came out in a timely manner. I just ordered fried green tomatoes & sweet tea: both were authentic & amazing! I also ate off my buddies' plate lates, lol. There was fried catfish w/ grits and sliders w/ mac & cheese to nibble on: both were delicious and with enough to take some home. I was really impressed with this place, so, why only 4* instead of 5*? The reason: their billing system. I was so happy, then I got my bill: they automatically added a 20% tip for 2 items (sweet tea & fried green tomatoes) and we were only a party of 3. It was really disappointing. There was no signage up front or anywhere in the restaurant or anywhere on the menu about this billing practice. I'm not sure of the legalities of this, but even putting that aside, tipping is discretionary NOT compulsory and I'm not a fan of surprise fees added to my bill. Now, with my stellar dining experience and the fact this billing practice is a management/owner decision and not staff decision, I didn't dispute this or make a scene & actually left a larger tip for Regin & the rest of the crew since they deserved it, BUT, this is not the way to do business. Even in a town like Vegas, you may expect this on The Strip, but at least they have all fees explained/signage BEFORE you order. Late-night birthday vibes Came out to Pretty Soul Kitchen for my birthday with my girlfriend and we ended up having one of the best nights we've had in a long time. It was pretty late when we got there, but Quinn was still holding it down Her energy was everything and she made me feel instantly celebrated. The drinks she made were gorgeous!!! like, almost too pretty to sip!!! and they were nice and strong ... a real punch too. She definitely did that ! and puts love into every pour. I paid for two side orders through an APP called too good to go. Too good to go allows people to try a sample of the offerings of a particular establishment at a fraction of the cost , to prevent waste...You are provided a window of time to pick up your order...My pick up window was between two and 3 o'clock I got there at 3:30. I called and asked if I could still come for my two samples, which was not a real meal ., it was two side orders of 4-6 ounce containers of side orders that they choose to give you just to try their establishment...I called and spoke with a young lady, that spoke with the manager that said it's OK just show your receipt when you get here and I could pick up my side orders. Now mind you I live 30 minutes away in Aliante, and I was in the area so I wanted to support the business however I wanted to sample the food first. When I arrived, I was approached, I will not say greeted, by the owner/manager, and she wasn't the most welcoming person . when I told her that I was there to pick up my sample orders, her entire attitude changed quickly...I sat at the bar , and I told the waitress that I was there to pick up the two samples that I paid for and the young lady that was the Restaurant hand said OK. She packaged up the food , put it in my hand and then the owner/manager Brandi B came over and said "you missed your pick up window. For entrees, we ordered the Chicken & Waffles with the Strawberry Waffle and the Sweet Potato Grits w/ Short Rib. The Chicken & Waffles was really good. There's enough strawberry and chocolate syrup drizzled on the waffle that you don't really need regular syrup. The sweet potato grits were a pleasant surprise, it tasted really good. And paired with the short rib, it was a good combo. Great balance of sweet and savory. For drinks, we ordered the kool aid and the sweet tea. The tea was SWEEET lol. We returned with our food & the owner flat out said she would re-cook the fried chicken 'bowl' but not the pasta or the $12 yams (in her eyes they looked good) why as a manager would you not make sure the customer was fully satisfied and had a good experience. I never felt so disappointed and disgusted with a OWNER/MANAGERS attitude. Its pure laziness and disrespect to recook 1 out of the 2 meals . Disgusting behavior. disgusting people skills . This place is horrible. We ordered the catfish soul bowl which comes with greens and Mac and cheese. Surprise! They were out of greens so the server told us to swap it for something else. None of this was a problem to us until we got the food at it was disgusting. Nothing was seasoned correctly! The catfish had this slimy fishy taste and the coating was over salted. The Mac and cheese had no seasoning and you could only taste noodles and no cheese expect for the baked cheese crust on top. The yams were almost watery and barely had a cinnamon sugar taste. The green tomatoes need a different batter. And they didn't even have any silverware to serve is with. They gave us plastic utensils that come with a fork, knife, and napkin in the plastic wrapped bag. We were so disappointed because Keith Lee is said it was good and we tried the soul rolls which he said were $10 but were actually $20. It came with two rolls cut in half to look like 4 rolls. They were ok. On top of all this the server had the audacity to charge a $20 gratuity for the 2 of us at one table. I knew to never come back here ever again. Overall, a restaurant should never run out of food. They should have silverware and should have decent food at the least. My order: I order the Catfish Soul Bowl, Soul Rolls, Banana Pudding, grape kool aid & lemonade. My Review: The catfish was cooked good and was seasoned nicely. Cornbread was good. The mac & greens was average. The grape kool aid & lemonade was ok. The atmosphere: I didn't know they were open from the outside they looked closed. The inside was cold but I think they are still working on the design. Server was nice; However, the owner was not so friendly compared to some of the other places I visited while in Vegas but she seemed to be about her business. read more

Food was not the best, the greens were sweet, the Mac and cheese looked like beefaroni....... The broccoli wasn't cooked it was hard ! Mac and cheese was also pretty burnt. Over all this place was a 4/10, the kool aid was okay, water did taste like it came from the sink. Fried green tomatoes were probably the best thing on the menu. read more

I hate to do this but it's important to let out of towners know that this isn't a family friendly establishment. Apparently after 6pm, the establishment turns into an after hour hookah speakeasy and no one under 21 is allowed in the establishment. I can only assume dinner ends early in Vegas. Hopefully they will update their website and other sites to inform people of these details. If the place was popping and busy, I would understand but there were only two people eating and several servers just hanging out. The place was DEAD and we were advised our only option for our party of six (4 adults and 2 teenagers) was to order take out... we didn't uber all the way over here for take out. A local resident recommended this place and I'm so glad they did. It had R&b and pop playing and we were the only party there during brunch (more people came later). The waitress was nice and checked on us but there were a couple times where we had to get up to get here attention. It doesn't seem like popular place quite yet but it should be on the quality of food alone. We ordered the soul roll, catfish & crawfish étouffée with grits and a side of greens. Yuuuuum! The textures, flavors, spice and salt level were perfect. Great place for soul food! read more
