Mario's never disappoints--it hits different every single time. It's the perfect weekend meal, especially with the extra hot sauce. And let's be honest, it isn't a real Mario's trip if you don't sneak a bite on the way home! I've been eating here since I was young, and now I get to share it with my own family. Highly recommended!

I haven't been to Mario's in about 12 years and decided to give it a try at their new location. I ordered the catfish which came out fresh but was overcooked and some pieces were really hard. I got there around 4pm and they were pretty much out of all the sides . Overall, the food was very MID but if you need a fix for some "soul food" it might suffice.

Mario's is located in the heart of the Historic Westside, serving up delicious and fresh cooked meals! For the price of $13.99 (an amazing deal) you can get 4 pieces of crispy fried catfish, two sides (great variety to choose from), and a drink! The Mac n cheese was flavorful and perfectly creamy, the catfish was crispy and warm, and potato wedges were seasoned well. The drive thru option is very convenient, especially when grabbing lunch on the go. Service has always been good when I've gone. I only wish the potato wedges were a bit more crispy and some parts of the catfish were tough; but for grab and go food, the quality was still great!

I went through the drive-through I received excellent customer service. That was the ambience. It was very quick.. The pig feet plate is 1499 includes 2 sides and a drink with bread. One of the cheapest that you're going to find the pork chop was $3.31 priced is in your favor. The first couple of bites was salty, but then it balanced out so it might've been a pocket of salt, but the rest was very delicious and crispy. Everything was cooked perfectly. Hot food I definitely recommend. Coolest thing ever

staff was very kind and helpful. store looked clean and organized. i ordered a 3 piece fish dinner with sides ($14). fish was soft and flaky with a crispy crust. sweet yams were soupy and lacked flavor. mac and cheese was stale, i also order wings, fries, and a chicken leg quarter ($1.50). wings were very salty and tasted like the typical deli wings. fries tasted really good. and bbq chicken quarter lacked flavor despite being covered in sauce.

We came on Mother's Day for the catfish family meal which includes three pounds of catfish, two sides, and a two liter of soda. Service was great and the workers are attentive, kind, and fast. Located on MLK and Lake Mead, this location is easy to get to as it is pretty much right off the freeway. Love their catfish, and I have been coming for years. It is very delicately seasoned, yet still has great flavor. Perfect crispy and tender at the same time makes for the perfect bite of fish every time. Don't sleep on the yams and greens, however, they are exceptional as well. Catfish family meal will set you back $40, which is a steal!

This review will be a brutally honest, historically accurate, play by play walk-through of my experience at Mario's market. When we pulled up and got out the car to enter the establishment, there was about two homeless people loitering out front, which isn't a complaint just a fact/ simple observation. I was actually planning on spotting them some cash on my way out once I complete my transaction inside. The purpose of my visit was specifically to try their catfish and a few sides. The hot food that they serve is located literally at the back of the store so you have to walk through the grocery store in it's entirety. Due to my field of work it is a occupational habit for me to pay attention to details so my default setting is to be vigilant. And what I noticed was literally every single employee on shift during my visit was African-American. I serendipitously/coincidentally was wearing my Martin Luther King Jr. hoodie with the picture of MLK himself on the front and the I have a dream speech printed on the back. I was in a great mood and had positive vibes all day so I immediately thought to myself and even told the fam "look at our good Black people hard at work, making this money" with 100% pride in my voice while saying it. Once we made it to the back to place our order we were approached by a seemingly unapproachable woman who had one of the worst RBR's (Resting B**** face) that I've ever had the displeasure of seeing, take our order. Her demeanor and attitude was disgustingly unpleasant and unprofessional. The employee to the left of her was a 20 or 30 something year old dude bumping that new kendrick Lamar, which is a certified banger!, but that's a whole nother story. Filling the music... I understand. My issue was with the fact that the dude was dancing and throwing up gang signs while on the clock. How do I know?, you might ask. Well, after being born & raised in L.A. you know what gang signs look like... facts! With this one I'm not even gonna state the obvious. Whoever is reading this review, you be the judge? Is that super professional or super unprofessional. To the right of the unpleasant woman who took our order was a different male employee arguing back-and-forth with a female customer. Again, you be the judge. Is that highly professional or highly unprofessional? Once the food was packaged, we were instructed to head upfront to pay for it at one of the registers. The cashier rung my order up and instead of handing me my change she had the gall to ask me, can she keep my change? Not donate my change, but can she herself keep my change. I originally thought she was joking, but she was deadly serious. She caught me off guard so I really didn't initially know how to respond. I was going to say no, but then quickly thought if she needs the money that bad to the point where she's gotta panhandle while on the clock, then she can have it. So I said "OK, keep it I guess". I was so thrown off and perplexed by her unusual request that I completely forgot to do the good deed that I originally planned to do which was help the homeless person standing in front of the store. Instead, I told the fam "damn, I don't think we're ever coming back here" then got in the car and left. The food actually was pretty good and deserves a 4 star. The customer service however, was completely and utterly garbage and truly deserves a 1-2 star, but I generously gave them a 3 star. It should be painfully obvious at this point, but I stand by my previous statement and feel inclined to reiterate that I will definitely not be returning to this establishment.

Fish fillet dinner with Mac & cheese & yams
    Nicole B.

I must say I have heard a lot about the food. I got the fish fillet dinner with Mac & cheese & yams. The Mac & cheese tasted like boxed Kraft deluxe with some cheese baked on top & yams tasted like they were from the can. Now the fish was top tier. It was very well seasoned & fried nice & crispy how I like it. The person serving my food was very polite & knowledgeable. I asked her about the type of fish & she knew her stuff. The store seemed clean & well stocked & not many people. From what I can see the place is well kept and I would go back for the fish alone.

Good food, good service. Fast drive through. I Got catfish, okra, and macncheese. The fish was crispy which I love. The building is big. I haven't been inside but I want to now. Good sized menu. Will be back for sure

Fish specials greens and black eye peas
    Janice J.

I was not too impressed with the food. They gave you lots of it. But its presentation was an issue for me. The fish was very bland, just fish and little dry. The side were seasoned but just too much going on. You also get kool aid with the fish special.

I have been here 6 years and have slept on this gem! I went in here for the 1st time tonight and lost my mind. I ordered everything in there. Greens, mac n cheese, yams, fish, wings, black eyed peas, red velvet, caramel cake, chocolate cake, kool-aid, and more. Evvvareeee thing I ordered was bomb! I will be back. Whoever fried that fish and those wings needs a raise!!!

The fact that they rep the Niners was also a nice bonus! We came in, grabbed a menu and sat. Kenny promptly came over and wanted to take our order. There's a lot of choices we needed a minute. We ended up doing the combo. I did the fried catfish, mac, and the BEP had good reviews so I did that. Woman did the grilled catfish, greens and yams. The menu said fried food takes 20+ minutes, when I asked Kenny he said it'd be 6-7. I'm assuming that estimate is for busier times. They had a steady stream while we were there around 1. I enjoy the places with history that have the pics on the wall w the Celebs that have come through. I didn't know them all but Kenny and his family are obviously well loved, and after tasting the food I get it! The fish was crispy and flavorful! The mac was cheesy and delicious, and the peas had a nice smooth flavor. I think my favourite part of all was that they have and give togo cups of Crystal! My favourite and all I can tolerate heat wise. The pancake cornbread was also a fun treat I enjoyed for dessert. Woman's food was good but I liked mine better. The fish was cooked w bell peppers, which I don't really eat anymore. It had onions too, reminded me of a fajita. I don't eat yams butt tried her greens, they were ok. She said that to her they tasted canned. Idk but they weren't my favourite. My plate ftw. I'd absolutely go back, I'm sure it's a vibe when there's a game on. The baby back ribs were spot on, not overly sauced which allows you to sauce as you see fit with one of the many sauces they offer. Also a fairly large and comfortable indoor seating area. Ribs were very tender and paired nicely with the sauces. My favorite sauce was the sweet bbq. The cornbread was warm and had a cake like consistency which I loved. If it were, I'd be willing to order again. The baked beans were a little too spicy for my preference and the koolaid barely had any sugar. I was not a fan of the greens, yams, loaded or mashed potatoes. The greens had an interesting flavor that none of us cared for, the yams still had skin pieces and outside of sugar didn't hold any flavor, and the mashed potatoes were bland. The restaurant itself is spacious. And the lady who rang up our order was really sweet and helpful. I also noticed they had an AYCE deal that sounded like a good price if all guests in your group are willing to commit.
