Unfortunately, I was sick on the day of my appointment. I called to cancel as I did not want to expose Stephanie or potentially expose her clients to sickness during this COVID pandemic. I was told that I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee and I told her that I would just come in because I couldn't afford that. She cancelled right away and charged my card immediately. I support small businesses and would have been a regular customer but I was disappointed with her response. It seems that the getting $50 is more important that the welfare of her clients and she lost me me as a potential client which she would have earned much more than $50 Not to mention, when I originally scheduled my appointment, it was declined 3 days later and I had to schedule further out because of late notice about the appointment date being declined. read more

Wow!! I'll hands down say this is probably the 2nd 5 star ive ever given for a hair studio and it's for good reason. I found a deal online for this salon and thought I'd give it a try. I'm like a lot of girls when it comes to hair and very weary of who I'll let touch it. I've FINALLY found someone I'll be going back to. She is so warm and welcoming and really loves what she does. I have very dark hair and showed her my ideal turn out. She listened and gave recommendations for what would look good and got to work. It was the first time in a long time I got balayage done. Stephanie (steph) took her time but was also very efficient. She trimmed my hair and styled it in gorgeous curls/waves I'll never be able to recreate at home. Lol The studio is across the street from Balboa park and you can look out when you're getting your hair done. Such a pretty spot! Parking across the street at balboa park is free after 10am and there was plenty when I got there and left. Her prices are great and very reasonable especially for the services she provides. If you're looking for some new to do your hair come here! I feel very lucky to have found her but also want others to experience her work! read more

Steph is a good hairstylist but is not punctual or professional. On two different occasions I drove 20+ miles for my appointment with her and she didn't show up or let me know she wasn't coming. Both times I confirmed ahead of time and booked well in advance. Each time she had a ridiculous excuse; the first time she said that her phone was lost in a restaurant and she needed to buy a new one, the second time she said that she was snowed in on a mountain - this was when there was no inclement weather in the California area. She was well aware that I have young twins at home and that I need to get a babysitter and take time off work every time I schedule an appointment with her. The total lack of respect for my time and money is so insulting. It took me a week and a half to decide whether or not to write a review but I'm doing this because I want to save other people the same experience . I nearly waited a month for an appointment and when it comes to the date of the appointment - I get a cancellation notice saying not feeling well. Just like a few other reviews posted on here. I was really looking forward to this And the fact that I waited one month for an appointment - the sudden notification of the cancellation was a disappointment and I would paid extra for any extra work on my hair if needed... I've seen Stephanie for over a year. I followed her from another salon that was closer to my home, her price was right and she did an alright job most of the time. This review isn't so much about her work, which to be honest was adequate. But I'm newish to the are and finding a stylist has been a traumatic journey. This review is for her utter lack of professionalism. The salon itself is dirty, and this is if you even get to see it. Because she has straight up stiffed me, as in left me standing outside of her locked salon waiting for her only to have her text me an hour later saying that she 'fell asleep'. This last incident is the one that drove me to write this review. In the span of the last 4 days she has canceled on me not once, but twice. And both times were an hour or so before the appointment. First off I immediately felt comfortable once I was in the salon. Im always nervous when I see a new hair stylist but the ending result was fantastic. I told her I wanted highlights and layered hair cut. I cut off quite a bit of hair which was fine once i saw the ending result. I have gotten many compliments on my new hair and given girlfriends her info. She did a wonderful job and I love the color. She did it a timely matter also. Ill definitely go back again. read more

I find it interesting that there was a review where she charged a client $50 for a cancelled appointment because she cancelled mine 2 hours prior with an email "not feeling good". No other communication, just those three words, no reschedule. I planned my workday around that appointment which was wasted and feel my time is valuable as well. Respectfully im going to update this review. First of all I tipped Steph $30 because I couldn't fully see what was done to my hair since she let me leave the salon with my hair still wet (which has never happened to me leaving a salon). It wasn't until I got home and did my own blow out that I realize the mess she made. She also told me that my hair is ethnic so she wouldn't do the blowout unless I spent more, that's ridiculous and in my opinion honestly disrespectful. I could afford more than the $120 she asked for but I wasn't willing to spend more than that just to have the tips of my hair toned a shade lighter. Steph replied by stating my hair looked amazing and I think the pictures speak for itself. My hair was different colors. It had the old color brass yellow, some blonde that I wanted and an ash I did not ask for. Regardless of what her opinion is of the work she did I hated it and asked for refund and she said no. She didn't do at all what she said she could do. She told me she could give me the color I wanted and she didn't. I even showed her a picture of the color I wanted. If she would have told me the toner wouldn't fully stay than I would have said no and gone to a different stylist. I work in the service industry and would have never told a client no you cannot have your money back if they didn't like the service I provided, regardless if they are right or wrong! That's called genuine hospitality and what Steph provided was poor customer service. A great stylist, with a nice little operation, who works efficiently, and who gave my dreaded post-lockdown hair a fresh, ladylike look. She also was able to condition it beautifully, so it's soft as a cat's fur (I like cats) and correct my color to get rid of the brassiness. Aside from being super warm and friendly, Steph's prices are very reasonable, considering the length of my hair. I've had such a bad string of pretty bad chops and completely off color experiences, so I walked I walked in pretty bummed. Stephanie comforted while making her craft look effortless and transformed my hair mess. It feels lighter, even with the length (long layers) and was able to color correct with such a nice blend (Baylage) to it. It looks better than I could have hoped for! My hair is pretty brittle from dyeing/bleaching it blonde for years, so I started using semi-permanent dyes to try different shades of reds. Coloring my own hair has been a success, but I still need someone to cut it, so I went on Groupon to try to find someone closer to me. Steph's trims were the best price, and she kept me at the Groupon rate for several trims after that. She is the only person I have been happy with 100% of the times she has cut my hair. She listens to me and does exactly what is needed to maintain length and fullness. I get so many compliments on how long and healthy my hair looks now, and I could not have done it without regular visits to Steph. Also, I have a blast with her at every visit. She is sweet, caring, positive, and energetic. I love the time I spend with her, but I am also very appreciative of her willingness to accommodate my busy schedule by allowing me to skip the blowout. I don't like to pay stylists for something I can do myself, and I'm able to schedule appointments when I am headed home or to a workout anyway. I am able to get haircuts/trims much more often and regularly now that I don't have to spend as much time or money at a salon. I also discovered that Steph is happy to wash the dye out for me if I put it in before heading to my appointment. I never dreamed I'd find someone so perfect for me! read more

I purchased a groupon with Stephanie, created an appointment, and the appointment was declined. I called and left a message, no response. She finally responded through email and I booked another appointment. I was super excited tot urn my super blonde hair into a light brown color, which I didn't think was too difficult to do. However, she did not do what I asked her to do at all. She barely even dyed my hair and decided to tone the rest with ashy toner to tone down the bright blonde hair that I had. I have never been so embarrassed of my hair. Not only is it not the color I was going for at all, it was also super patchy and just overall done very poorly. The overall experience was not enjoyable, she rushed the process, and charged me extra money for toner and something else (which is normally included when you color your hair in the first place). It was a waste of money and time, and now my hair looks so trashy. Do not go to her to get your hair done unless you want to mess up your hair.
