I absolutely loved my experience here!! Found my new most favorite salon in SD and what is probably going to be my staple now. GORGEOUS SPACE -- I know they recently got renovated/expanded and the interiors are amazing! Decor is well thought-of and consistent with the brand AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE -- From the booking to the days leading up to my appointment, communication between me and the team was on-point. They made sure to match me to a stylist that would be an expert to my need. I got matched with sweet Sylvia who even sent me a text message the day before reminding me about how parking can get rough because it's a gameday. She was an absolute sweetheart as well who made me feel so at ease the whole process and nailed the pegs I gave her! VALUE FOR MONEY -- For a first time customer, I was a little bit intimidated to come in because I know places like this might charge higher than normal but my overall quote was actually just as I expected. I would say they're at par with most salon's pricing! They also used high-quality products on my hair from the beginning to the very end. I got a simple haircut and my sister ended up getting highlights (she wanted a small change nothing too drastic). Overall, this place is so organized and well put together. Both of our stylists were friendly and we both were super happy with our outcomes! It is a little pricey but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and these ladies offer nothing but quality work! If you are looking for great color in San Diego, this is the place. I am from Los Angeles so have high standards for my blonde balayage and Katie Petitte delivers! I have been seeing her for over two years every 2-3 months. She is the greatest, you will never have a better blonde coloring no matter what shade you want she's taken me lighter and darker blonde and it's all incredible. They recently redid and expanded their salon and it is beautiful and always clean. Once you get into a colorist you like making appointments is easy, you just make your next appointment while you're in the chair. I feel like the pricing is incredibly fair for the quality of color you are getting. Katie Petitte (I think there is more than one Katie) is so talented and SWEET. She is just a doll. Her two assistants are also little angels and do wonderful work and Jana gives a great blow out. They take their time here and it shows and the results are beautiful. I really appreciate I am never waiting for my appointment, I'm always sat right on time or early. They use high end products that I would use at home, Oribe, k18, etc. love this place! read more

Been coming to Style Lounge for 6 years and honestly i dont think i can go anywhere else! I love how the stylists are always being educated with new techniques and skills. Hannah is my stylist and I love her. She always listens to my hair goals and gets me there! The front desk staff are very nice and welcoming. Also, Im obsessed with how they renovated their whole place. It is absolutely beautiful. People are complaining about the price but you get what you pay for. Good hair is not cheap and I definitely don't mind spending all my ca$h with them. read more

I was never the girl who was stopped on the street about my hair until I met Hannah Flint. Random strangers have even DM'd me about it - and that's NEVER been something I had experienced before. Let's start with the lounge itself - super fun vibe, aesthetically beautiful. I love the floor to ceiling brick. Big plus - comfy shampoo bowls! From hand tied extensions, bayalage, glossing...I've never walked away from Hannah's chair feeling anything but confident and excited about my hair. All of the stylists also have a "photo spot" they use to take your pic after the appointment. It's my favorite part because the lighting situation is ON POINT. I don't know what else to say - I'm now the girl with the great hair that you'd stop on the street. And I love it. read more

This is long overdue. If you've been looking for a stylist-- particularly one that takes you from dark to light-- look no more. Rosie is your girl. She's been keeping my dark Asian hair blonde for a months now and I'm loving it more and more after every visit. She's really great with educating clients on how to maintain healthy hair; I really contribute my healthy hair to her extra tips. The salon itself is a complete vibe. It's beautiful, clean, and definitely adds to the entire experience. They even offer refreshments like really fun alcoholic options! You can tell that they care about the details in the salon. Which can easily be forgotten when the salon houses so many separate small businesses run by different stylist. I definitely recommend putting yourself on Rosie's waitlist. Another amazing hair experience by a hair god, Eric! It's been over a year since I had gotten my hair done due to COVID and I reallyyyy needed it. Tried a while ago, then we were shutdown, so it got put off again.... Finally got an appointment after much too long and I'm so happy. He did an amazing job, even better than the last time I was here. I have fine, thin texture hair and he knows how to handle it. He really listens to how you want your hair and he delivers gorgeous results. I got a full balayage with a trim. The balayage is blended so beautifully with the exact color I wanted. Gabe (My hair god, My color chemist, & My magic hands) Ive gone to Gabe for the past year and he has exceed my expectations every time. I leave speechless after every appointment. When I first started my hair journey with Gabe I asked him to take my hair blonde but to keep the integrity of my hair along the process. Before him no colorist could make me blonde without turning my hair orange, brassy, & frying it. To the point that I almost gave up on trying to go light. Gabe assure me that I was in good hands. He explained the whole process from the mixing of the colors to the tones my hair pulls. He only promised what he could deliver. His passion truly shows through his work. I am forever grateful to have put my trust in him with my hair. I've even recommended him to friends that now go to see him. Thank you Gabe for making me feel beautiful every time I leave. I was super excited to get my hair done by Dani Burgos. Unfortunately, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time and checked in at the front to see how much longer it would be. They advised it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. I ended up waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time when I decided to leave. This was unacceptable and super unprofessional. I never received any apology. It was such a bummer as I was really looking forward to the service. Solely leaving a review as a potential new customer and what the level of customer service was to come here. I ended up inquiring about a stylist and coming to get my hair done for a haircut and eventually balayage. As the reviews state it's probably the most expensive salon in the city, but lots of positive reviews so that was highly encouraging. The front desk ended up giving me a good recommendation for an alternative stylist. It took awhile to find a time that worked because I work during normal business hours but they were able to get me in somewhat reasonable hour but had to move around my schedule and cancel a workout class to accommodate. I booked at 2:40pm and received a confirmation email at 4:00pm. It was not noted on that call that they require a credit card to hold the appointment, but they ended up nonchalantly throwing that in the email. I saw the email after they closed so cool no worries I'll call in the morning. I ended up calling in when they opened the next day to give my billing over the phone but told me my appointment was taken. So a few things here: poor communication, and VERY ILLEGAL request of my credit card information. Here's the email request to send my credit card information via TEXT or EMAIL! Merchants should NEVER EVER ask for your information this way. EVER. It violates the PCI DDS for any merchant that accepts credit cards. "In order to secure your appointment we will need the following (feel free to call or text us if that's better for you 619-501-6821): First and last name Cell phone number Credit card number including the EXPIRATION, CVV and BILLING ZIP CODE" **UPDATE** The response of the owner just shows their ignorance. To allude that I am less-than and outside their "luxury clientele" (who happily text their credit cards) is unfortunate and demeaning. But a stark reflection of their business brand. "Your poor or we think your poor so go somewhere else, you're not worth our time." Yikes. The intent of the review was to highlight the struggles as a new potential client to pay your business to work with your talented stylist. As a result you lost my business. There was a misstep in your business model and that doesn't fall on the client. Even though you claim otherwise. I'm sure I'm just catching the business at a bad time but it's so disheartening to see such a cold response in this pandemic. Everyone is struggling. The response from the owner solidifies that I wouldn't want my money spent here. My peasant money** read more

I've been coming to this salon since I moved to SD almost 6 years ago and I absolutely love it here. Lauren takes her time and is amazing at what she does, I never leave disappointed. If ever I've had issues with my hair, they make sure that it is taken care of right away. The rest of the staff is super friendly and welcoming even when I have to show up with my babies in the stroller. This was the most unprofessional and shady salon that I have ever had the misfortune of going to. Awful treatment and beyond insulting. I booked a partial highlight and shadow root, describing exactly what I wanted (and received from previous salons without issue, included a photo); detailed the exact condition of my present hair situation (6 months since my last highlight/root growth). I was unable to text a photo of my hair, and I was told that this wasn't necessary by the appointment setter. I sat down in Amber's chair, and she was completely unaware of the photo that I texted the appt setter, so I showed her this/what I wanted, which is exactly what I've received prior many times with many previous stylists all over the country. Amber tries to push a FULL highlight on me (upsell!), instead of a partial, which I was open to. When she informed me of her price ($400 and something), I was a little taken aback (humans are permitted to express subtle reactions). That didn't include the shadow root touch up, "the extra bowls of color" at $25 a pop if needed (another upsell/my hair isn't long/just below my collar bone), and the trim of my ends ($90), to total over $625, not including the tip = over $700. I agree to the full highlights, etc., as I agreed that I needed this, and Amber let's me know that she'll be back with the color. Upon her return after over 10 minutes, Amber informs me that "I'm not comfortable doing your hair", and proceeds to spout a variety of contradictory excuses such as, there's not going to be enough time to do your hair (I was somehow booked for a full highlight originally, so that made no sense?). Next excuse: "it doesn't fall within your "BEAUTY BUDGET" (how is that her judgement to make?). Next, her "I'm not comfortable doing your hair" again. The entire time, Amber was looking at the floor. Anything that I said or asked was completely ignored by her. Something seemed entirely fishy here... I drove an hour to this salon, spent $25 on parking, and now I'm being turned away? Why? As I'm walking out, I ask the receptionist what's going on here? The receptionist informs me that Amber "doesn't know how to do what your asking for". Huh? It's simple blonde highlights with a darker base in between the highlights! She doesn't know how to do this? She's supposed to be a "senior stylist", and, this is a common procedure. I've had it done numerous times. Then, the receptionist says, "she's an ARTIST, and she's not comfortable with doing your hair". The receptionist informed me that Amber ALSO thought that I needed a "color correction" (another unnecessary upsell), which was absolutely not the case. A full highlight would have deposited color over my dark roots, so that was nonsense. And, Amber never conveyed this to me even once. What is actually going on here? Nothing made any sense. Then, the receptionist says, "you refused to text a photo of your hair before the appointment". No... I was told that it wasn't a necessity, and so I didn't. So, this is all my fault? What a bunch of total nonsense. I informed the booker precisely what was going on with my hair (6 months of root growth, etc.) Here's what my gut is telling me concerning what actually happened... Amber didn't like my subtle reaction/surprise at her full highlight price. She didn't like that, because she knew that she wasn't going to be able to tack on what she was hoping to on top of this (extra bowls of color, extra for this, extra for that). I assume that she's used to squeezing as much money as possible out of clients, and doesn't like to be questioned about this. I was also a little surprised by her $90 charge of trimming my ends? It was all so strange, and I felt like I was being conned. Perhaps this "artist" and "senior stylist" actually didn't know how to do a simple highlight and root touch up? That seems odd, but that's what the receptionist said to me, so I have to wonder whether that's true? I felt like I was dealing with a used car lot, but really demeaning and complete snobbery. I also felt like I was being discriminating against for being in my 50's. Their "I'm sorry" felt disingenuous, and by the time that the receptionist was finished spewing her word salad and blame shifting, and excuses which made no logical sense, I was finally too infuriated, and left. I had a few choice words for them on my way out, which was completely justified. The general public are not stupid. There are many awesome stylists in San Diego. You're not going to receive a positive reaction by treating anyone in this unprofessional manner. Don't blame a client's reaction as the cause - your unprofessional conduct. Thanks for saving me $700. I would much rather give this to professionals who actually care about their clients, and not just their wallets. Best of luck with your business. have been getting hand tied extensions for 3 years, once my stylist moved away I decided to try style lounge because thier instagram looked awesome. My stylist was really nice, but my bottom row fell out a week later. She let me come in and fix it. However, a week afer that a "k tip" fell out, she used the K tip infusion mehtod to frame my face, and it ended up pulling out my real hair! I messaged my stylist and its been 12 days with no response. As I wasnt going to go in to fix one K tip ... of course my top row started to fall out a week after that... Hand tied extensions are suppose to last at least 6 weeks. I decided to reach out to the salon to let them know, and sent them pictures. The response i got was "A manager will treach out to you shortly". No one offered for me to come in and fix it? I paid over $1400 for these extensions and I still havent heard from a manager and I am asking for some sort of refund. I goot my hair done 10/8, its now 11/3. Havent even had them for a month. After to speaking to some other girls who have had the same problem, I have been told they dont offer to fix or refund when people reach out. I understand mistakes happen but your girl cant be walking around with half a row out.. UPDATE 11/15- The owner called me 3 days later on the day i posted this review. Asked if i needed it fixed but i already found a great stylist at Lawa Meraki the street, aparently where all the girls go who have had issues at style lounge. They tightened my rows and its since been 3 weeks and they are still in tight (yay). The owner tried to refund me $300 for my entire service when the down payment alone was $700. After going back on fourth if I brush my hair too hard (lol) she finally told me she would refund me $1,000 ONLY if i take this review down and i am not allowed to ever step foot in the salon again. Weird tactic but i will not be stepping foot in this salon again. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Ally C.

My journey to this exciting venture began with working as a traveling educator for Halocouture Extensions, one of the industry leaders in extensions. This experience introduced me to the world of hair, and created my passion for hair education. I worked as a stylist for years attending workshops with some of the world's best artists and finally made the step to own my own salon while also educating other stylists on color + extension methods. Uyen added extensions and created a gorgeous bronde color. Over the years we've tried different looks, from very blonde to closer to my natural dark blonde, and I loved it every time! What impressed me the most is how healthy my hair stayed the entire time. After wearing extensions for over two years, I took them out for a while and my natural hair actually looked about 30% thicker than before (The thickest it has ever been). I just got a new set of extensions again and absolutely love them. I went from short hair to almost waist length, and this time we did wavy extensions to match my natural texture. It came out beautifully - the color matches perfectly and it looks very natural, even when I let my hair air dry without styling. Uyen is incredibly attentive and works very meticulously. She really listens and takes the time to make everything blend perfectly. I completely trust her with my hair and highly recommend her, especially if you have fine hair and are considering extensions.

I had two recent appointments here and unfortunately had a very poor experience…read more I paid over $600 for lightening and vivid color services, expecting to work directly with the owner. However, significant portions of the service were performed by an assistant without my consent. The appointments were also heavily overbooked--I spent over 10 hours in the salon across two visits, much of that time waiting. More concerning was the outcome. My hair has sustained significant damage, including breakage in the front where an entire layer was overprocessed and broke off, requiring me to cut bangs to cover it. The overall condition of my hair is now extremely dry, brittle, and straw-like--the worst it has been in over 25 years of coloring my hair. There were also technical issues during the service. My color was rinsed prematurely, which removed pigment and required reapplication, leading to additional unnecessary processing. My eyebrows were also affected during the service and had to be corrected afterward at my own expense. I reached out directly to try to resolve this, but was only offered a partial refund that does not reflect the extent of the damage or the corrective work now required. He damaged my hair beyond repair and now refuses to even take accountability and refund me - so that I can attempt to begin the healing journey for my hair. When I attempted to resolve this directly, my concerns were dismissed and I was offered only a minimal partial refund that did not reflect the outcome. The tone of the response did not feel professional or solution-oriented. There is no amount of money that can reverse the damage to my hair, but a full refund would be a reasonable acknowledgment of the outcome and the cost now required to correct it.

I've colored my hair for years and it's become damaged & thin, but i love long & blonde hair so much. So, getting extensions was the best step forward. She handsewn extensions into my hair, the extensions were tight only for the first day, but now I forget I have them unless I touch my head.
