I had two recent appointments here and unfortunately had a very poor experience. I paid over $600 for lightening and vivid color services, expecting to work directly with the owner. However, significant portions of the service were performed by an assistant without my consent. The appointments were also heavily overbooked--I spent over 10 hours in the salon across two visits, much of that time waiting. More concerning was the outcome. My hair has sustained significant damage, including breakage in the front where an entire layer was overprocessed and broke off, requiring me to cut bangs to cover it. The overall condition of my hair is now extremely dry, brittle, and straw-like--the worst it has been in over 25 years of coloring my hair. There were also technical issues during the service. My color was rinsed prematurely, which removed pigment and required reapplication, leading to additional unnecessary processing. My eyebrows were also affected during the service and had to be corrected afterward at my own expense. I reached out directly to try to resolve this, but was only offered a partial refund that does not reflect the extent of the damage or the corrective work now required. He damaged my hair beyond repair and now refuses to even take accountability and refund me - so that I can attempt to begin the healing journey for my hair. When I attempted to resolve this directly, my concerns were dismissed and I was offered only a minimal partial refund that did not reflect the outcome. The tone of the response did not feel professional or solution-oriented. There is no amount of money that can reverse the damage to my hair, but a full refund would be a reasonable acknowledgment of the outcome and the cost now required to correct it. read more

When I first went here, the place gave some really good, high quality haircuts. The last few visits, however, not so much. I used to get my haircut from the owner, Freddy, who seemed to do a really good job at cutting, while also seemingly personable and talking to me about my day, and what's been going on. As time went on though, and considering how far I would have to drive to downtown and get a haircut, things started to fall off. I would always make sure to put myself down for an appointment but I would often have to wait for another client who he would be running over with on time. Once maybe twice is okay (I went for around 10 appointments or so), but it was pretty much every time I went I had to wait an extra 5-15 minutes before I was in the chair. Some haircuts turned out really good, and others were a little sloppy and seemed rushed since he was already over on his time and had to compensate somewhere, which I guess was sometimes me. I also went to try out the perm hairstyle and got it done by Sheila, but the perm was $200~ and ended up only lasting maybe 2-3 months despite delicate care in the process to make it stay longer. The way she did it also didn't seem to be the best since a lot of the curls were really loose even though I told her I wanted it to last a while (especially considering the price). Maybe I was the one-off that ended up not staying or looking good with perms, but I was pretty disappointed with it. Only thing I can really note that was good was that I think it helped with some texturing of my hair to not be so straight all the time. I believe the vibe of this location is good, but definitely got loud since they shared the space with 2 other businesses and also had a gym studio move in above them causing a lot of extra noise. I'm seeing now they have a new location (I only went to the old spot) which would make this issue hopefully non-existent. Since I always went out of my way to come get my haircut here, it was showing some serious diminishing returns compared to just finding a location closer which I eventually did after I moved. I believe Freddy and his team will continue to have success, but I will not be coming here anymore due to repeated issues I was having. read more

My previous salon closed so I decided to try Bespoke. I've walked by their space quite a few times and must say they did a really good job turning the empty space into a spectacular studio. Its trendy black and white interior, flattering lighting around the mirrors and lounge areas make the space quite inviting. It was also super clean, hair was swept up quickly and I saw quite a few people cleaning. For my appointment, I arrived a little early and was greeted by the receptionist, checked in and offered a beverage. Seems like they have a good selection of beer, wine, seltzer, coffee which is a nice addition. I was scheduled for a regular haircut and decided yo cut off quite a bit of length. Bringing in pictures to show my stylist really helped and she explained what would look best for my hair texture. While she was also dying another person's hair at the same time, she working on me while the hair dye was setting. It felt a little rushed but this has happened to me before and think it might be pretty common. However, I got exactly what I wanted and my stylist was a seasoned pro and very efficient. Lastly, I want to mention the pricing. Each stylist has their own rates depending on their skills and how long they've been in the industry, which is something I appreciated. Their pricing is also not outrageous and was about what I was paying at my other salon. Overall, a good experience. read more

I just walked out of here insulted. Not a single glance or acknowledgment at check in from the receptionist. She talked on the phone, Closed someone's bill, Ran to gossip with the hairstylist right after, greeted someone that walked in, then took a second customer who just walked in with a dog, played with the dog - at this point the stylist reminded her that I exist. She basically hushed him with an eyeroll and carried on playing with the dog. After the dog and gentleman left the front desk, I stood there watching in wonder as she stared at her computer. NOT A SINGLE ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM HER. At this point she talked to 5 people in 15 minutes and fully would not make a single glance my way. Looking for a long term styling option as I just moved to SD - I will absolutely not be going back. You should check your receptionist don't act like snobby college girls. I have no doubt she has done this previously. With the nasty look she gave me as I walked out. EDITED TO REPLY to RESPONSE FROM THE RECEPTIONIST/STYLIST: Thank you for the quick reply. I really didn't want to be THAT woman. This was my first and only appointment at this salon. Very clean, friendly greeting when I arrived, bizarre music, not a deal breaker, maybe I'm just old! My stylist was lovely, truly she was. I sat in her chair, she asked what I was looking for, I told her I have only 2 "rules" when it comes to a hair cut, 1. I need to be able to tuck my hair behind my ears and 2. I need bangs. Other than that, she had creative control. My hair is super thick and it gives me migraines so it's typically kept on the shorter side. So she started cutting. I was a bit hesitant because she didn't even wet it. I've never had anyone cut my hair dry before, but I took a deep breath, and trusted the process. We made small talk, as one does, and as she was cutting, she kept moving my bangs to the side, like a curtain. She worked her way around my head, still dry, and then she started cutting the hair around my ears. This is when things started going south. I told her that I was concerned that she took too much off of the sides and that I wasn't going to be able to tuck anything, and also that it was sticking out and wouldn't lay down. She explained that she was going to leave it that way until after she washed it because I had been tucking it all day and it was probably sticking out because of that and she didn't want to cut it one way if was going to behave another. Ok, I'm not a hair dresser, I'm not from here, maybe this is how things are done here. So we went over to the wash bowl and I give her 12/10 for the wash. ABSOLUTELY hit it out of the park, it was relaxing, and just plain wonderful. No complaints there at all. We went back to her chair and she kept cutting around my ears and trying to tuck hair behind my ears THAT DOESN'T EXIST. I became angry. But... I don't want to be that woman. I had to remind her that I asked for bangs because as she dried it, she kept sweeping them over to the side. So she relented and needed to cut MORE off the sides to give me my bangs (?) I don't get it. Then while she was showing me with a separate mirror the back and the sides (that no longer exist) the left hand side of what is left of my hair became SUPER poofy. I tried pushing it down to make me look less like Gumby and she immediately grabbed the spray bottle, wet it (in hopes that it would weigh it down I'm guessing) and said, oh it must be doing that because of the way I dried it... umm ok, then do it again! Nope, that was it. I was whisked off to the pay station. I was done. Maybe that's a good thing... I was, and still am ready to cry. She didn't listen to me. I asked for only 2 things. They didn't seem like big things, but I guess she thought they were silly. I left feeling awful. I still feel awful. There's nothing, that I know of, that will fix this. It's SOO short. I feel like an assh*le because she really was a very nice girl... but WHY would she not listen to me and the things I wanted? It made me feel small, and unimportant. As I was checking out the very nice girl at the front asked if I wanted to book my next apt... I simply said no, I won't be making anymore apts here in the future, ever. I don't know what to do. Alana was very friendly and professional throughout the process. Alana explained the process well and provided instructions for how to take care of my face afterwards as well. The space where they do the facials was very relaxing to be in. It was my first time at the salon and I was impressed with the atmosphere.
