I was amazed how kind, thoughtful, respectful and professional all of the staff and visiting staff were. My care was 100% perfect, I could not have asked for a better experience for my first surgery. Everything that they were going to perform on me was clearly explained and in no way rushed. I had the same experience for my pre-surgery tests and phone call. Everyone went out of their way to extend every courtesy to me. I thank all of the kind nurses and staff and the anesthesiologist who made my experience and recovery so much easier than I had ever anticipated.

The doctors did not seem to have much interest in the medications that my husband had been prescribed by his Cedars Sinai doctors, nor did they listen carefully to me when I tried to share his medical history, including actual reports from doctors that I accessed from my Cedars Sinai app. I asked repeatedly about him receiving his meds and was never given a good reason why they were being withheld. I also learned that the Medical Center does not subscribe to EPIC - an electronic health record platform in the US that allows for medical records from one hospital to be accessed by another. This is significant in that they treat patients without having access to important medical history. I am still not certain that the 'abscess' that they drained wasn't a cyst that his Cedars doctor had determined to be benign. I showed one of the doctors the MRI results from April of this year, but another doctor determined that the 'abscess' needed to be drained. We waited 4 days for the MRI to be completed. During his 10-day stay, my husband was in three different rooms. The last night, he was placed in a room with three other patients and a shared restroom that he refused to use. We have Medicare and Blue Shield insurance. I was shocked to find him in that shared room on the morning that he was finally discharged. The bottom line is this - my husband gained 21 pounds during his 10-day stay. Only 2 times did someone come and get him out of bed to walk. His legs are so full of fluid that he now needs a walker to get around. The fluid buildup is due to a lack of the correct dosage of diuretics. It will take us weeks to get rid of the fluid. Was anyone keeping track of his weight? If so, why didn't they make the proper adjustments? Why didn't someone listen to my pleas for more meds to address the fluid buildup? To top it all off, my husband has scabs all over his arms and a huge gash on his head that no one can explain. What a horrific experience.

I have had four surgical procedures here in the last two months and several procedures here over…read morethe last few years. Up until today I gave this facility high marks. The "Good"- most of the nursing staff are excellent! My only suggestion to one of the nurses, when a patient is using a medical device to walk /stand and is there for a procedure to help reduce pain, allow them to sit down instead of asking them to stand in a hallway to answer numerous confidential health questions & sign numerous forms/consents. Consideration of your patient's comfort is what CARE is at its essence. The "bad"- Reception. I signed in upon entering the facility on the computer at front desk. No greeting. After waiting in reception for just short of an hour I went up to one of the three individuals working there to ask about the reason for delay. She seemed surprised I was there (as if she had no idea) and told me she would get my paperwork together "right away." She did so. After completing all signatures she told me to have a seat. About ten minutes later she yells out my name from reception desk and states " I need your copay." Side note- When I was at the facility two weeks prior for another procedure the male receptionist (sorry I don't have his name but he is the only man working there as a receptionist) accidentally charged me two copays. I did not make a big deal out of it and I offered to leave it on file as a credit to pay for today's co-pay. I went back up to the reception desk. I explained the situation and reminded the male receptionist of the incident. He asked if I had a receipt. I told him I could produce one from my cc app. He then seemed to remember me and stated "oh yes, that credit was used for today's copay." I then asked " well then why is the young lady standing next to you asking for a copay." They started talking to each other and walked away. I have worked in healthcare for over 33 years. Three strong recommendations to the receptionist working at El Mirador Surgery Center: 1) Try and greet clients and acknowledge arrival within the first 1/2 hour AFTER their arrival time and try and update them when there are significant delays 2) Learn to say " I'm sorry" and admit an oversight when you've made one. 3) Communicate w your co workers so you present like a unified team instead of communicating conflicting information to a patient while you are standing right next to each other. Signed an RN that KNOWS we can do better. Thank you.

I am so fond of Dr Ardestani & his Wonderful Staff!…read more I was hyper anxious about my procedure....I felt in the dark about it all. I was really thinking about cancelling.....I felt very unprepared to take, what felt like, such a prodigious step forward. I felt confused about everything...until I received a lovely call from Nurses Michelle & Yasmin. The call was exactly what I truly needed. I was able to confide about how i was feeling, ask all of my questions & concerns.....get answers......and feel more confident about my upcoming procedure/ surgery. I want to just mention the names of the Staff Members who truly weaved the fabric of my experience at IRC, and Thank them (I hope I did not forget anyone): Claudia, Rochelle, Steven and I saved the one who spent the most time with me before.....during and after the procedure: Nurse Nicole. I have to send her a special Thank You. She was the rock I needed. I am still in touch with them and am looking forward to a follow up. I believe Dr Ardestani is an exceptional individual & doctor. He is highly intelligent.....looks at his work as an Art......and delivers beautiful results. I enjoyed watching the monitor as Dr A. worked on me. I respect him a great deal. I called and talked to the ladies in charge of hiring Transporters at the time just to introduce myself and let them know I was interested in working there once I moved. They were rude to me on the phone from day one. Once I moved {Sept 2024) I set up an interview. It went well. NEVER heard from them again AT ALL. They never returned my call. HR never did either. THEN I set up an interview with the kitchen Supervisors. Had a great interview. They even asked me about why I wasnt pursuing the Patient Transport and I told them that they never got back to me, They said OMG...WE wont do that to you. GUESS WHAT? They never got back to me either. I talked to my old boss and he said that they never even contacted him for a reference. My point IS that if you have a great interview with Eisenhower and they do not give you the time of day even if you have years of experience...dont take it personally. They obviously have their own agendas and have no idea what the definition of professionalism means. Even in HR.
