BEWARE! If you plan on ordering something for a special occasion from the bakery at the Watervliet store don't be surprised if they either forget to make it, or get it wrong. Today was the third time since December that they have screwed me over by either not making the order, or getting it wrong. I was willing to give them another chance after the first two mistakes figuring the third time would be the charm, and I was wrong. The woman who took my order repeated it back to me and it was correct, but when I picked it up the woman who handed it to me said they didn't write it down on the order sheet. So to start off everytime I shop here I somehow bring something home outdated. Two weeks ago I bought a loaf of Italian bread and when I got home and was putting it away I realized the whole bottom of the loaf had mold . Then I bought a roast for Christmas dinner and it had a date of December 7th. I also bought a fruit platter for $50 for everyone at my house to snack on . The strawberries were dry and rotten and one of the melons smelt so bad . I know it's hard to find good help but come on. Someone's not doing there job. read more

This store is unaffectionately referred to as "Christ Chopper." This PC was built on the grounds of St. Patrick's, a beautiful and grand church that opened in 1891. I'm not religious, but It was very sad to see this historical building that was built by working class Irish immigrants (much like my own great-grandfather who came from Ireland in the 1880s) demolished. We aren't from Watervliet, but my parents would sometimes attend this church. To be fair, this church building did need a lot of expensive repair work done and I don't think the diocese could afford it. I always liked driving through 'vliet and seeing this majestic building that looked like something you might see in NYC. I'm sad to see a Price Chopper in it's place. As you can imagine, there was some controversy over this church being torn down and this store being built. To be honest, the old PC in this neighborhood was in very rough shape and kind of gross. I would very rarely stop there. This store is better, but still a little dirty. I'm surprised to see how worn this place looks since it is very new. This PC doesn't have a dedicated florist like the stores in more affluent neighborhoods like Latham or Clifton Park stores, but they did have some fresh looking pre-arranged bouquets. In the front corner of the store there is a dedicated snack and beer area. They have the make your own 6 pack of craft beers available, but the selection was much more limited compared to the Latham store. Prices are a bit on the high side, someone has to pay for all of the renovations of the stores in this chain. The produce section at this store does seem to be an improvement over the former store. Just kind of a meh experience. read more

Hard to see but worst place ever ... employee is smoking right at the entrance and couching all over ... sounds like he needs medical attention . Their produce is always empty or expired and it smells like peel when you first walk in . Has to be the worse of the worse . And the sad part I have called corporate 3 times about 3 different interactions with employees that were awful ... this place needs to be demolished, rebuilt and re-staffed ! My review is when I visited on 5/13/2021 at around 2:00 PM We only visited this horrible store because it was the closest stop to where we were. We needed quick groceries, but never again! and I urge you to listen to the negative reviews here. My negative review wasn't targeted to the employees even though they were careless and stand offish! there wasn't much variety and they didn't stock up on produce. My negative review is for the Hills have Eyes type customers here. I am so infuriated because my dad and I almost got run over by a Psychopath. As we exited our vehicle, we walked down THE MIDDLE of the parking aisle, so we are nowhere close to any cars. All of a sudden there was a guy in a black car who started his car and didn't look back! as soon as he hopped into the car he reversed immediately! he almost ran over me and my father! no apologies or nothing! I glared at him and was ready to cuss him out clean. I shook my head at the blatant disrespect and disregard for humans! I can't imagine if there was an elderly person or disabled person, he literally reversed and stomped the accelerator to reverse!! it was scary! and what's worse that he was about to hit my dad and I am overprotective of my family! I am mad I didn't go off on him. But I looked him dead in his eyes as he stared at me with his leathery skin and butterscotch yellow teeth...just demonic. but I know God will handle him. From the looks of it, he is a miserable creature. It's parasites like this that is why the general public do not shop at this Price Chopper. There is a "Type" here. Yea... just no!! Not all grocery stores are created equal. Awful Price Chopper, awful selection, awful experience! I have never been to a grocery store in my life with such limited selection!! You literally have PC brand and possibly another brand which both versions are the unhealthiest selections ever! It is ridiculous. The prices are high and the people rude...answering random calls and texts standing in the center of an aisle??? The reason online grocery shopping is worth it!!!! The shelves are literally empty and understocked. Dusty, dirty, and dingy. Cleanliness is not an option here... half of the items were not priced or priced wrong. I was appalled. Carts are haphazardly parked perpendicular to the aisles smack in the middle, creating anxiety and anger. This Price Chopper carries maybe a generous 75% less then other grocery stores with no savings!! Let me put it this way...It is Save-a- lot or Aldi with no savings! Groceries poor, no organic or even semi- healthy to come by. Seriously, this is a store I would expect in a rural farming area, not Watervliet/ Troy. I understand this may be a good location for elderly, disabled, and public transportation services- but does that really mean that all these people shopping and limited to this area and store, want, and only deserve, is an unhealthy, overpriced, limited grocery assortment? The Watervliet location is quite possibly the worst Price Chopper in terms of service I have been to. This place is always packed and severely understaffed. There are always lines for the deli and always lines to cash out. I don't understand how they cannot employ a few more people to make this place less miserable. This is my homebase Price Chopper as a near-washington park Troy resident. Let me be honest, it's not the best but it's much better than the other chopper that was down the street. Most times the cart I grab is broken. Isn't this place only a few months old? Don't think carts should be broken already. Also the two decker smaller carts aren't there anymore. I know they try to get you to use the larger carts to buy more and I am not amused by this game. I hate wielding a giant-brokenwheeled cart when I only need a few (sometimes heavy) things. Also, I always get chatted up by the workers when I'm there. Like I don't want to get hit on when I'm just trying to buy some chicken sausage and almond milk. I just want to get my groceries and preferably not to talk to anyone. Honestly. I don't know how management can crack down on this but if I go in there and hear again something similar to "are those your real eyes" (no joke, a question I was asked by the fish monger at one point) I'm gunna lose it. I try to be courteous because what can really say? "please leave me alone, I have no option but to ask you for that salmon behind the counter." I always see people in the 15 items or less line (which is a weird item denomination) that have probably 15 or a little over that item amount. The lines are forever regardless. I always use self check out. Also to touch on the almond milk again. I noticed that this price chopper specifically has the unsweetened almond milk as 50 cents more than the sweetened kind. This is the dick sort of move that kind of makes me inherently hate price chopper. Like, you know something is healthier and people will spend more for the healthy stuff so you take advantage of the informed consumer for your measly bottom line. Ugh. I'll be at Trader Joes actually enjoying my shopping, even in the parking lot is horrid and they have less selection. This place gives me a headache. read more

Prices are very expensive and way above market value. For a place called "price chopper" that seems like a bit of a lie. They don't stock too many items despite the immense size of the location and its accessability from Troy. They don't sell any forms of birth control, including condoms, which is both alarming and frustrating. Like, why sell spray cheese and not condoms, which are far more necessary? At least they have the propolis version of Tom's toothpaste, arguably the best toothpaste, but difficult to find. That's my only positive.... well that and they stock mad flavors of Utz chips. don't expect to find anything organic here, either. Laaame. Disappointed. Not the worst Price Chopper I've been to, but close. We need better options for the food desert that is Troy. read more

It was the middle of the afternoon, around 3:30 on a weekday. Prime-time shopping hours. First, only two checkout lanes were open and one was for 15 items or less. Huge lines. Seriously, they need to open more lanes. This is not acceptable.Next, they got rid of their smaller shopping carts. Maybe they think we're all idiots and will continue stuffing a larger cart just to fill it? Honestly, I liked those carts better because for one, I don't shop for a family. And also because they are easier to maneuver around the huge pallets of merchandise always inconveniently parked in the middle of the aisles during peak shopping hours. The produce was horrible. Everything was swarming with fruit flies. The onion bins only had a few of each in stock. There were no fresh artichokes. The green bean bin was nasty with rotten beans. There was one bunch of asparagus and it was way past being edible with black slimy tips. There was no pineapple to be found and the jalapeños were all shriveled. And, they only had 2 mangos, both which had seen better days, even though they are a featured sale item this week. The meat department was deplorable. Rotten discolored meat in every section. They even have a discounted meet section at the far end of the meat cooler and it was disgusting. Leaky packages of discolored and funky smelling meat that I'm certain are not safe to eat. The deli had an assortment of "fresh" sandwiches. I fell for it and purchased an Italian mixed sub. The good news is they dropped their ridiculous price of $6.99 for a pre-made half sub back to $3.99. The bad news is that it sucked. There were no tomatoes, onions or lettuce. There was absolutely no dressing. The meats were plentiful but were not very fresh. And for some reason, even though no mentioned on the ingredient list, it was smeared with very watery and salty diced red and green peppers. The bread was soggy Price Chopper, regardless of the location, is going downhill. I don't know why I keep giving them chances. Also, most of their seafood is farm-raised in China So I no longer buy their seafood since they choose to sell Dirty seafood. Also, all of the seafood they sell at the seafood counter came in frozen and has been thawed. So buying it and freezing it for future consumption is not an option. read more

I only visit the store because it's closest to me, but the prices are too high and the staff is mostly uncaring. The customers are worse... Young self-centered 20 and 30 somethings who will cut in line because they don't want to wait for everybody else, older grouchy seniors who can't mind their own business, Young children under 10 years old running through the store with nobody saying anything, etc. They always seem busy, which is good for them. The selection is not that great and often the shelves are bare. More than once I've ended up going elsewhere to find what I need. From now on, I think I'll start going out of my way to Hannaford instead of putting up with this crap. read more

OK...this store needs to stop. Period. Old, browned out ground beef wrapped in fresher ground beef to give it the pink, fresh appearance on the outside. Old, overpriced stinky chicken and the breasts...omg, 14.00! I went to Walmart and saw a package with the same number of breasts equally proportioned in size for 8.00! Everything here is grossly overpriced for old, outdated products that are delivered from the surrounding PC's and Market32' in 'better off' neighborhoods once their expiry dates have been reached. Why throw it away...send it to the hood! Their deli has gone way downhill, I'm talking spiraling people! I used to think no one beats PC when it came to the deli. NOT. The attendant at this store had me another elderly gentleman wait for about 15 minutes while she cleaned her work area. We're just standing there. Apparently getting her work done ahead of time so when quitting time came around she'd have nothing left except to clock out and leave was obviously far more important than her waiting on customers. Finally I said something and she had a nerve to get an attitude? I had a good mind to go to the manager but I don't want to see anyone lose their job, Besides, the crewmen reflect who's at the helm so need I say more? Their cheeses, I brought a couple blocks of Cracker Barrel Vermont Sharp and the cheese was so old I swear it practically crumbled when I attempted to cut it. I purchased a pound of Land O' Lakes yellow that was so old it felt like cardboard between my fingers. Land O' Lakes is a soft, pliable cheese when it's fresh. I was standing at the back of the checkout line, a worker saw, and opened up a lane for me so that I didn't have to wait. I almost cried I was so grateful.
