I had the vehicle towed back to the dealership late Friday afternoon, and after nearly a week of silence, I was told it was all an "unfortunate coincidence" and not their responsibility. Their solution? A new engine replacement for around $10,000. I asked for an explanation and was told they had cut open the oil filter and found it full of metal shavings. They offered to investigate further--but only at my expense. Frustrated, I turned to Jim's Tire and Auto on the recommendation of two trusted friends. That's when everything changed. Bret and Allen treated the situation with professionalism and integrity. They approached my Explorer as if they had been the ones to work on it from the start. They meticulously reviewed every detail--receipts, parts lists, error codes, on-board diagnostics, and the engine itself. Through their forensic approach, they uncovered the actual cause of the failure, which contradicted the dealership's claims.
