It had been almost 10 years since painting my home, and as most Willow Glen houses, there were cracks and lines in most every room. So, I decided to get the entire interior painted this spring. After reading reviews on the Willow Glen e-List recommendation page, and checking yelp, I decided to call Pride Painting based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I met with them to do the quote and they were thorough. They quote came in and it was right in line with what I was willing to pay. So, I hired them. They seemed like good people and I felt like they were really paying attention to what I wanted. They patiently waited for me to try and match one color for days, and were helpful in selecting a new paint when we didn't get an exact match. Overall, they did an amazing job and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs painting done. They were patient, reliable and did high quality work. Also, I have curved ceilings in the family room and dining room. When we bought the house they were the same color as the walls. So, the next painter did the same. Jose and Lou suggested I paint them white, like normal rooms. So, I tried it and WOW - what a difference. It has made a huge improvement in the look and feel of the room. Jose and Lou have just finished their 5th project for me. This time, they remodeled a kitchen and two bathrooms and painted the entire interior of a large condo. Previously, they have done two bathrooms, painting, baseboards, and crown moulding in another house. In addition to my projects, they have done work for two friends who I know were both very pleased with the result. There is nothing these two can't do. And the quality of whatever they do is first rate. They are incredibly attentive to detail, are completely reliable and trustworthy. These days, sadly, that is not the norm. I trust them not only to be alone in my home unsupervised; I also trust their judgment when decisions need to be made. (Lou has a particularly good eye for color.) I was out of the country during most of the recent project and knew that I could count on them every step of the way. I came home to a beautiful result. They did exterior painting for me, including repair of termite damage; interior painting including repair of minor earthquake damage, roof leak damage, and filling / retexturing holes in the walls where I removed speakers for a whole-house sound system that no longer worked. Just had Pride Painting paint my new condo that I just purchased and I couldn't be happier with the work they did as well as the overall process. I called Joe and Luis based on their Yelp reviews (make sure you read the filtered reviews too) and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Both Jose and Luis showed up for the estimate, took thorough notes on what I was looking to have done and even provided a few suggestions and recommendations. While some of the suggestion were not necessarily in my budget they made it clear that they would detail all the work in the estimate. A few days later we were meeting again to review the numbers. Now I haven't worked with that many contractors so I'm not sure how how much of a common practice this is but Jose and Luis broke the estimate down by room as well as work to be done. In the end I had individual estimates for all my rooms, crown molding estimates, estimates on painting all my doors as well as some touch-up work to some of the trim. Based on the detailed estimate I was able to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do at this time. Jose and Luis told me to hold onto the estimate and in the future if there were other rooms I wanted worked on that I already knew they price and they could come back later when I had more money saved up. Painting started a week later (since they were in the middle of another job and we still had to pick out paint colors). We chose several different colors and had a hard time narrowing it down so Jose got six samples (three primary wall colors and three accent wall colors), painted them on the wall next to each other and allowed us to choose which we liked best. Once we decided the paint was bought and in five days everything was completed - kitchen, dining, living, hall, one bathroom, ceilings, nice doors and crown molding in the master bedroom (I painted the walls to cut down on cost and Jose painted the bedroom ceiling before installing the crown molding). Our place looks great. Jose even said that after the rest of our work is completed (new cabinets in the kitchen, new floors and new baseboards) that he would come back to do any touch-up work that was required. Besides painting Jose and Luis do a long list of general contractor work and I'm sure I will be finding a list of other things I would like to have done. I can't say enough good things about Lou and Jose from Pride Painting! Believe it or not, this review is from my move 4 years ago--and I've been meaning to write them a review since. They were really that good. On the day of my move-in I had to coordinate their paint job before my movers arrived with my furniture. I found them on Yelp. Lou and Jose took on the job with short notice and their whole family came to my place by 6:30 am and had everything done with plenty of time for walls to dry before my movers came later that morning. They helped me pick my colors and get my paint. And they made sure I was happy with their work. As a whole, I found them to be honest, hard-working, and completely dedicated to quality and service. These guys are incredible!!! Don't let the name fool you, they are much more than just a painting company but that is their specialty. A family run business that is the easiest contractor to work with. They were recommended to me by a neighbor of mine in the Willow Glen area. In speaking with the owner, they get a lot of jobs simply re-doing the sloppy inferior work of other supposed qualified contractors. They offer the type of customer service that I wish other contractors offered. I've been using them for the past 5 years for various jobs (small and large) at our primary home and a couple of rental properties that we own in the bay area. They painted the entire outside and interior of most of our properties, handled plumbing and electrical issues, done tile and retexturing work, and even built a custom shed. From painting, texturing, electrical, and plumbing, they can take care of it all. What I like is that I they take care of the project from start to finish. I don't have be my own general contractor and have to call a plumber to fix a pipe in the wall and then separately call a painter to repair the hole in the wall left by the plumber. And, they are flexible when I would like to make changes. I remember when I was in the process of a bathroom remodel and decided to replace the shower window after the job began. Not a problem. Not only do they do great work but they are trustworthy. I don't have time nor do I want to babysit contractors. I totally feel comfortable giving my keys to the owners, Jose and Lou keys, when they need access to my house for a job while I am at work. If something is not to my satisfaction (which is rare), they come back and take care of it right away without hesitation. They truly take PRIDE in their work. read more

We bought a house in Aug. 2013 and it needed a pretty good facelift. The paint on the walls and ceiling had stains. Flooring needed to be upgraded. Interior doors needed to be replaced. Basically the interior needed to be completely redone. We checked with few contractors for their bids and even asked them to provide the breakdown per project. Based on a couple of reviews on yelp, I called Pride Painting for painting bid. Response was prompt and we had a meeting set pretty quickly. Lou and Jose mentioned that they had a handyman license and could help with interior projects such as installing doors and baseboards. Based on a few questions regarding painting the walls and the procedure they would follow I asked them for a quote. The quote fit the budget we had planned for painting and asked them to get started. Since we were expecting a second child and were in between homes we did not have much time to spare for renovations and had to move into the house as early as possible. I asked Jose to put the painting project(ceiling, bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen) on a fast track since we planned to get the flooring done after the painting was over. He promised that he will complete the task at hand within my target schedule of two weeks. I have not seen such dedication from any other contractor and I had three other contractors working on other projects as well. Jose and his team (wife - Lou, son - Ace) worked long hours and also on weekends to get the job done. Finally the painting job was done to our satisfaction which involved multiple color test patches for finalizing the colors to completely redoing a wall in the kitchen because of previous wall decor. Impressed by his dedication, I asked him if he could think of a way to modify the wall cabinets. The wall cabinets were the old style - sliding doors from ceiling to the floor blocking half the access to the inside. We brainstormed and I told him that I would like to replace the doors with folding cabinet doors. I had to make do with readily available folding doors in Home Depot/Lowes which were shorter in height due to our move-in time constraint. He initially declined this possibility but after some more brainstorming came up with an idea that enabled us to replace all the wall cabinets. Again the quote for this project did not blow a hole in our pockets. I would also mention that he is pretty good as a Handyman and did help with certain other projects in the house like installing brand new windows - that too new construction windows; not the retrofit ones. This being our first house purchase, he did guide me on certain aspects on how to take care of the walls and roof gutters as well as provided other handyman tips. All in all, I would highly recommend Pride Painting (Jose and team) for their painting as well as handyman skills. Projects were carried out from mid Aug. 2013 - early Sept. 2013. read more

We are remodeling our main bathroom and found that the removal of the old mirror left a partially textured wall and smooth spots where electrical work had been done and spackled over. We were originally going to texturize everything to make it match, but on discussion with Jose, decided to make everything smooth instead. It would take a little bit more time, but Jose looked at the rest of the remodel (where everything was straight and contemporary) and made his recommendation based on what he knew we wanted to accomplish. As it turned out, the workers were able to do the work more quickly than they had estimated so the price remained the same. He was right. The smooth texture is much more contemporary and adds an elegance that I had not expected. The paint team came in the next day but, since the weather was cold and damp, found the walls were still damp in places. They set up a space heater and came back a few hours later. Some spots were still not totally dry so they used spot heaters to finish the drying and were able to finish priming the walls and ceiling. The third day they came out to paint the walls and ceiling. They did a beautiful job. They recommended a second coat for the walls and came early this morning to finish up. I thought the walls looked great with just one coat, but the second coat really brought out the luxurious look of the wall color and smooth texture. I was amazed at how many people worked together and how well coordinated they worked. All in all, I counted 5 workers who worked (not all at once) in my smallish bathroom. Each team member had his job and the process was seamless. You could tell that they have worked as a team for a long time. I have worked with painters before but have never worked with such a well-coordinated team. Jose and his guys really know what they are doing. Summer of 2013, we promised our kids that they would get their rooms painted and that started a string of things we wanted to do around the house including updating the sad looking 90s theme of maple kitchen cabinets, maple stairs, daughter's wish of having a white board wall.etc. In addition, we wanted to install cabinet handles and assemble IKEA furniture. We called several contractors to give us estimates. The cheapest bid turned out to not be licensed even though he claimed to be when he came. When we drew out the contract, there was no license and he explained that he failed the test. Other contractors who earned good reviews on Yelp but we didn't go with them for number of reasons: 1) They only paint 2) Prices are too high 3) Can't contact them. Jose and his crew(wife and 2 sons) did a great job at our house. See the photos I posted of the before and after photos. Since it's a family business, we felt comfortable letting them have access to the house. It took 3 weeks to complete where other painters gave us 2 weeks estimates, but we were fine with that. We were looking for the quality of the work rather than speed. Jose explained about the prepping work which is the most consuming part of their job. Cabinets need to be sand out and wall paper in one of the bedroom need to be smoothed in order for the dry erase paint to go on top. Even though he's never used dry erase paint, he searched on the process and the end result met our expectation..check out the picture of the purple room with the wall. Jose nailed in the frame so the marker does not go off to the paint.Jose, being the handyman/general contractor is such a great plus. There were a few needed touch ups afterward. I called him a day later about seeing bumps on top of the door way of the purple room which he did not see during prepping but these bumps only show when you turn on the room the light . He came back and discovered there were nails under the sheet rock so he fixed it, retextured, and repaint that spot. We used our phone to text or call as a way of communication and they responded right away. So overall we're satisfied with their work and happy that we went with Pride Painting. read more

Jose and Lou were recommended to me second hand. As soon as they walked in the door I knew I could work with them. By the time they finished I felt I had made new friends. I had a bathroom that was in dire need of updating. As it turned out, he had to go down to the studs and correct some problems. This was done in such a way that I feel it is the most stable part of my house now. Their work ethic is amazing. He was here every day when he said he would be, he put down tarps throughout the house, and his attention to detail was above and beyond expectation. Whenever I had a change of any kind, he was cheerful and never acted as if it was an interruption to his plan. He also had some ideas that I hadn't thought of that worked much better than my original plans.
