I bookmarked Prima Facie on Yelp quite a while ago, and I finally had the chance to visit for lunch last week with my mom and mother-in-law. It definitely lived up to the hype! For lunch, we ordered the chicken sandwich with the Greek Goddess dressing, the wedge salad, the beet salad, and the miso soup. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We all enjoyed our meals so much that I brought my family and friends back for dinner just a few days later. The dinner menu is definitely pricier than lunch, but it was absolutely worth it. We ordered the Bistro steak, pork chop, and free-range chicken, and every entrée was cooked perfectly. The flavors were creative, balanced, and absolutely phenomenal. The drinks were also excellent, and the service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance truly completes the experience. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and having a live piano player during dinner adds such a warm, elegant touch. We loved everything about Prima Facie and are already looking forward to bringing more family and friends to enjoy this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended! read more

Solid place to grab a cocktail and appetizer! I met a friend here for Happy Hour on a crazy hot Friday afternoon. I had a Cosmo and she had a gin cocktail. We ordered the mussels, fries and tuna tartare. Everything was wonderful but a special shoutout goes to the grilled bread/delicious sauce situation that came with the mussels. Chef's kiss! Went to a happy hour and ordered the calamari, bone marrow, and truffle fries. Appreciated the portions and the prices, but felt that each dish just felt slightly short of expectations. The bone marrow was served slightly cold, which felt odd and more fatty than we hoped for. The calamari had pieces that were slightly overcooked and under-seasoned. The fries could have had more truffle flavor. I believe it could have just been an off-day for Prima Facie Bistro, since they're usually pretty good when it comes to execution. The food was amazing. We came on a Monday night and walked right in with no reservations. They had a great drink menu with several zero proof liquor options. We ordered the lobster pasta and beef pasta and both were great. We also got the peach cobbler for dessert. It was delicious but there was a $4 up charge for one small scoop of ice cream. The restaurant itself is a beautiful open concept where you can see into the kitchen. The service was just ok, our waiter kept forgetting about us and apologizing. A friend saw this restaurant on TikTok so we went and checked it out. We dined on a Saturday evening and it was busy. The energy was a whole vibe. The tables were filled with couples, dates, groups and everything else in between. They have a 2 private rooms on the main floor and a larger room upstairs. Nice wine and cocktail list. They even have happy hour during the week. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer- sooo good. I wanted to like the plate the sauce was yummy. The breading on the calamari was super crunchy and flavorful. My friend ordered the lobster gemelli, which a fancy name for lobster Mac n cheese. But it was the creamiest cheesiest Mac n cheese. I ordered a small salad and the trout as my entree. The trout was cooked perfectly and was flaky and the almonds on top added a wonderful crunch. It was so good. We had the dessert special - tres leches cake. The basil was surprisely good with it. We also ordered the peach cobbler. Which had a good flavor but it was more like a crumble. A cobbler has a top and bottom crust this did not. Lots of pescatarian options and gf options. Above the host stand, old black and white movies play - which was a cool feature while dining. Tip: this restaurant is popular so reservations are highly encouraged. Tip 2: a surface lot is behind the restaurant or if you miss it like I did and park on the other side on the hill - the restaurant provides a golf cart to shuttle diners to/from their car. I was excited to visit the newly opened restaurant, which beautifully incorporated original features of the old bank, like a stunning vault. This adds a unique charm and fun environment. I love that you can sit inside of it for your meal. And they have many large seating areas for parties and special events as well as a beautiful bar. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and the atmosphere was relaxed between lunch and dinner. Our waitress provided attentive service and great menu recommendations. The drink menu was diverse. My husband loved his pasta dish, with al dente noodles and a rich sauce. I enjoyed a hearty sandwich with a fresh salad--portions were generous enough to share. For dessert, we had a peach cobbler that was fresh and flavorful. This whole experience left us excited to return! Had the pleasure of stopping by this spot with a friend on our work trip today and I'm so happy we did! We had an AMAZING server named Joordan (yes with 2 o's lol) and he made sure to give us great recommendations! We came during happy hour and had the whipped feta, truffle fries and calamari... the whipped feta is an absolute MUST! Our drinks were well balanced and perfect on the palate. I also had the power bowl with grilled chicken and my friend had the Mediterranean salad with salmon both excellent choices! Went back for lunch and had their hamburger and fries. Also great. Then for a small plate dinner with friends on their first visit. Loved everything. Mussels, calamari!, steak tartare, beet salad with salmon, tune poke. The only thing less than perfect was the bone marrow where the marrow wasn't completely roasted. I love Parkville and was excited to try this newest restaurant. We arrived at 9 pm and the first thing that hits you is how loud it is. They have booths, tables, high tops and bar seating, we chooses a high top. We started with glasses of white I had a lovely Riesling that was floral with a touch of fruit, my friend ordered a Pinot gris and the waiter suggested a Sancerre which she had not tried before and she loved it. I was impressed that the waiter offered that choice as most do not. The food well not impressive, calamari batter was flat, my beet salad with arugula was the opposite arugula with 4 very small cubes of beet and this was a$12 plate, I was expecting more beets. The dressing was tasty but that didn't change my sadness over the beet sizes. We both had tomato soup but it was thick, oregano heavy and felt more like a sauce for pasta and chicken than by itself. read more

Great option in Parkville for a nice date night or GNO. I ordered the steak Tartare, Cesar salad, steak and frites, the hummus plate. The steak and fries were my favorite dish. The fries specifically I wish I could just have a basket of. The steak was cooked perfectly. Prima Facie is a relatively new spot in downtown Parkville. It was busy on a Friday night, which is always good to see. They have both a bistro side as well as market for daytime eatery. The food overall was pretty good. For appetizer had the steak tartar. For our main had the steak frites which were cooked to perfect temperature, as well as the bolognese and the lobster gamelli. We had a great lunch for restaurant week. The space is really pretty although there is just a small space to wait for a table. (Hint: make a reservation!) The bolognese was tasty, so was the tomato soup. The salads were fresh and the fries were crispy. We went all out - cocktails and beer selection was solid. $16 for a cocktail is definitely a treat though. I will probably skip next time. The fruit crumble was a nice dessert for a very cold day. A friend and I came here for restaurant week. First time I've been here. Very nice atmosphere. Loved all the artwork. I ordered the Mediterranean salad. Was very good with artichokes, red onion, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta with a Greek vinegar dressing. It tasted very fresh. Then I had the prima Smashburger. That was excellent with caramelized shallot aïoli, shredded lettuce, pickles and white cheddar on a brioche bun. The fries were seasoned perfectly and were just like I like them crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was very full after having the salad and the burger. I'll definitely be back. Just as I was about to take a picture, the server asked me to cut my steak and confirm it was the perfect medium-rare, which it was. My wife and I were impressed by our first meal at the new Bistro at Prima Facie in downtown Parkville. The rebirth of the old Farmer's Exchange Bank building is truly amazing. When you enter the building, you'll walk on the tile from the old bank and have a nostalgic moment from the past. But once inside, everything is sophisticated and upscale. A party of eight can dine inside the bank's old vault. The stunning bar appears to be a mile long. The Bistro's menu features steaks, pasta and seafood, all served with a farm-to-table freshness and creativity. Entrees are priced from $22 to $38. We only scratched the surface of the menu tonight, ordering the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Bistro Steak. Both were super flavorful and perfectly prepared and plated. We must have had a sweet tooth, because we ordered two desserts: the Phyllo Brownie and Blueberry Cobbler. Both were decadent. My wife's great grandfather started Farmer's Exchange in the early 1900's. When we first got married, we were customers of the bank. But over time, the bank changed hands several times before it was vacated. Leon and Heather Versfeld are the visionaries behind Prima Facie. We are excited to see what additional development in downtown Parkville will follow their lead. We enjoyed meeting Heather and GM Aaron Walker during our visit. They were proud hosts and awesome tour guides. The Bistro's sister restaurant, the Market, opened in September and is located in the bank's old drive-thru location. Aesthetically this place is beautiful! I really enjoyed reading the cocktail list they sounded amazing. But as I carried one of my favorite wines I went with a glass of white wine and a glass of red. Had the Caesar salad which was great, moved on to the calamari which the sauces were good but I don't know if I was actually eating calamari? Then had the bone marrow which was the best I've ever had! then had the beef tartare I don't know the dish needed help, needed to be minced finer super big chunks...and needed on plate either horseradish or mustard or cornice pickle was lacking in something. We had a reservation and got there a little early. They have a nice little waiting area with live piano music. Once seated, the restaurant truly feels like many places in the Napa Valley that we have been too. It's lively and sleek, and just a tad noisy. The service is great and the food is tasty. We enjoyed the steak tartare, split a wedge salad, and I splurged on the lobster mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! There is a corkage fee but you can bring your own wine. They also have private dining areas as well as a daytime bistro/coffee space next door. Parking can be a bit tricky on a busy night but Parkville is very lucky to have this new gem! read more

This new parkville Bristro has such a sophisticated and interesting atmosphere! We went for my mom's birthday and had a party of 8. When we arrived, they greeted us with big smiles and a great attitude! The hostess even complimented for romper, so nice! We then got escorted back to this private party room which was perfect(we had kids with us) so it really was more intimate for my mom's birthday! The service was great! Our waiter got a little busy but he was so polite and he even cut our cake for us that I had brought! The food was delightful! I had the lobster pasta, which is hard to find somewhere with good lobster. We shared the deviled eggs with had a chip in it that I thought was a perfect twist!!! I have been searching to find a crab cake that tops my favorite out of town place, and this one did it. The flavor was amazing, the little boba on top was so flavorful and added to it. The sauce was top notch. The steak was juicy & tender. Seasoned perfectly. The potatoes were whipped just right, so smooth. The asparagus was buttery and tasteful. Now, the crème brûlée... Me and my dad are crème brûlée connoisseurs, and this one was by far the best one we have ever eaten. Caramelized perfectly, fruits had an amazing pop of flavor. 10/10 will be coming back. Despite that, Cole provided excellent service and had a great, witty demeanor and made the experience that much better. The Mediterranean salad, the calamari, the meatballs, the bistro steak and the chicken were all superb! Wish we had room for dessert but maybe next time. I went to Prima Facie for my birthday with family in December. My daughter ordered the mussels. She gave me one to try and I lusted for them for over a month! Finally got a full pot for me last week. Instead of the usual wine and garlic broth, these mussels were in a broth with chunks of tomatoes, pieces of onions, arugula and I don't know what else. After eating all the mussels, I asked for a soup spoon and finished off the broth! It was all sheer heaven! At my December dinner, my son-in-law was raving over his steak, and the rest of my family loved their various dinners. I can't wait to go back and work my way through their menu. read more

Run don't walk to Prima Facie. Literally because you can take a job at English landing then come to Prima Facie, sit outside and cool off with a coffee and grab a sandwich. You could also go inside to the gorgeous main restaurant with the most fabulous wallpaper I've ever seen and dine. This place is beautiful! The service was wonderful and food was great! I had the turkey sandwich with the half Caesar salad and it was very good. I can't wait to go back for dinner and get a heavier entree option because they look delightful. read more
