What a great place! I stopped in with a friend the other day for the first time and we enjoyed it a lot. The shop is cute and the service was great. Very friendly. She got something with a chocolate base and it was AMAZING. I got the cookie butter with pretzels. It was delicious, but I liked hers better. We also got the pumpkin whoopie pies. They were yummy, but the spices were quite strong in them. I'm excited to go back & try other things!

Such a cute little ice cream spot! I took my sister here, and she had no idea the ice cream was vegan. She thought it tasted just as good as regular dairy ice cream, which is pretty impressive considering how hit-or-miss some non-dairy ice cream is. The staff is super friendly, and the ice cream never disappoints!

We really enjoyed our desserts - my daughter got the combo with brownie and caramel, and I got the vanilla with mint Oreos. The ice cream itself is not too sweet, which is a welcome change! We also got a strawberry lemon cheesecake cookie that they'd made for ice cream sandwiches. It was delicious! The space was relatively busy for a Saturday mid-afternoon and they have a few board games to play. The person working was solo, so there was a bit of a wait, so don't go if you're in a rush.

The apple pie cookie is stupid amazing, well balanced and the perfect way to end a rough week. The music in the shop is A+, the workers are kind, and the ice cream doesn't make my stomach hurt. Kinda love this place.

It is so frustrating sometimes to have food allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities and to not be able to enjoy the foods you crave, which is why I LOVE this place!! I am lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive but I can indulge in a long list of options here! I love the vibe, the service, the premise, and allllllll the great dessert options. I only wish I lived closer (or maybe it is better for my waistline that I don't)!

LOVE this space, connected to so many wonderful things that are their own entity, SweetEMOtion is classic cute. Dairy free options are hard to come by with sweets so nice to have the options here. Also, who doesn't love living out their teenager self while eating ice cream?? Lots of options and great names for them all to bring you back to those early 2000s days where all you needed was a studded belt and lots of hairspray

In an attempt to bring joy on a particular tough Thursday, my roommate and I decided randomly to get ice cream for dinner. We saw Sweet EMOtion on the Pitch's Best of KC nominee list, and I am so glad that we trekked up to North KC for this!!! They make delicious (mostly) vegan ice cream with oat milk! The ice cream is super creamy and smooth and decadent. They have a fun regular menu and tons of weekly specials. The employee at the counter recommended the Cherry Thrill, and the cherry flavor was awesome with chunks of dark chocolate! Good portion size too. The vibes inside are super fun. Communal seating with many different size tables. The Rino stage for live comedy and music is inside on the right, and there's a bar towards the back! The ice cream window is all the way against the back wall by the CREAM neon sign! Seems like a great place to eat some ice cream, grab a drink, and enjoy a live performance! On a weeknight, we never struggle to find street parking on a side street to hang out in North KC, but there doesn't appear to be a designated parking lot so enjoy a little walk!

Truly enjoyed this experience. Met with a group of teenagers there to try something new and enjoyed not only everything we ate but the time we spent there playing a game. The worker was wonderful and patient with us. We all decided we would definitely go there again!

This little shop is in the back of the Rino Bar. At 5pm on a Tuesday it was dead inside but that meant we ordered quick and were served promptly. My husband and I were both blown away by the taste of this ice cream! I am dairy-free and am always looking for adventurous desserts to try. Sweet Emotions is my new favorite! They have oatmilk soft serve in vanilla, chocolate and a rotating flavor. You can get a cone, bowl or shake and add toppings on each. I got the pre-selected Smashed into Reeces Pieces "Release" and my husband got the Cookie Dilemma "Release". Both were full of toppings and the portion was perfect. It's size is deceiving! Very delicious experience.

The pick-up is so quick and easy - just order online, pop-in, and grab your order off the shelves to the left of the entry door. You can't go wrong with the food here from girl breakfast, to the plain + simple breakfast sandwich, to the pepperjack burrito, to the market bowl, lunch menu and their many many mouthwatering pastries. And don't forget about the coffee! They have both real mugs and to-go cups. I love their regular drip coffee, cold brew, cappuccinos and lattes. The cafe's interior design is modern, chic and comfortable with a mix of booth and table seating. I can usually find a seat for 2-4 people, groups larger than that may have a hard time finding a seat during peak times like weekend mornings. Seasonally, McLain's offers outdoor seating, too. Best of all, the staff makes you feel right at home - welcoming, friendly, helpful, hardworking and clean. Parking is angled street parking out front. Sometimes I have to walk a bit but never more than a block. Just writing this has me craving McLain's already.

I'd recommend getting there early on busy weekends. Maybe some tape over the things that aren't available once they're gone, that way people don't have to keep adjusting their order on the fly. There were some cats that came to share our meal and that was dope. Waffle was good but a half portion was kinda pricey, same with the scrambled eggs. There are no eggs in their breakfast bowls and that's kinda strange, tbh, it needed something more substantive. This area is good for a quick bite but not good enough to make it a meal.

BFD could also stand for Bacon for Dessert after ordering their unique Bacon Flight. For $5 I received 4 large strips of bacon on a skewer: Original, Honey Sriracha, Brown Sugar and Sage, and Peppered. Four great flavors that did not need the side cup of maple syrup for dipping. The brown sugar was the star of the flight. I also had the one biscuit B&G for $6. Possibly the best I've had - thick creamy gravy with plenty of sausage, and covered in bacon crumbles and chives. Best $11 I've spent all month!

The space feels relaxed and approachable without trying too hard. Big open taproom, easy atmosphere, good energy. The kind of brewery where you can settle in for one beer and accidentally stay for five. Mary behind the bar was awesome right away. Friendly greeting the second I walked in, super knowledgeable about every beer on tap, and genuinely helpful without making anything feel scripted or sales-y. Hospitality matters to me a lot, and she made the experience feel welcoming immediately. I worked my way through quite a few beers: Hop Cuddle, the collaboration with Tall Trellis, their Mexican-style lager, Weathered Wit, Pavers Porter, and the rice lager. Every single one was excellent, but that rice lager was probably my favorite. Crisp, clean, refreshing, incredible mouthfeel -- one of those beers that disappears way faster than you planned. Weathered Wit deserves a shout too. Light tartness, citrus notes, classic Belgian yeast character, ridiculously refreshing. Everything you want from a witbier on a warm day and they absolutely nailed it. (beeradvocate.com) Also, I'm genuinely excited to see breweries collaborating again. Beer feels more fun when breweries are creating together instead of existing in separate lanes, and it's cool seeing that energy still alive in Kansas City craft beer.

That bread is the real deal--super crispy on the outside and soft inside. Because of the crowds it did take about 20 minutes to get our food but the girl behind the counter was really nice despite trying to serve hordes of celebratory drunkies. The Atmosphere Beyond the beer, the parking lot was full of food vendors and some really cool cars. Definitely worth checking out for the vibes alone!
