Walked in on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. It was Happy Hour, so we decided to order off that menu. The regular menu looked awesome too. Our server Michelle was awesome, very friendly and knew her drinks. We started with the Citrus Spritz, think paloma but with vodka very refreshing. Next up we ordered both tacos, blackened shrimp taco and a Korean Steak taco, while both were delicious, I would recommend the Korean Steak- the slaw was delightful. The Fries were amazing with a hint of garlic served with aioli. The Crispy Fried Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower served with a jalapeno aioli and a malt vinegar but worth trying. Last but certainly not least the housemade pimento cheese served up with gerkin pickles, summer sausage and saltine crackers, the only disappointment here were the saltine crackers, if you were going to go with an everyday cracker use something like a Ritz or a club. All in all it was a beautiful day and they had a great pationto sit out on. It wasn't busy inside so i was glad when Michelle checked on us many times. Only thing i didn't like, we were a party of 2 and they added a 20% gratuity (in preparation for the World Cup)I gave more as i normally would but I do know as a server myself this isn't always good for your employees. We went in for the Sunday half price chicken special. The chicken was tasty as ever and the mashed potatoes and pickled veggies with it were great too. Service was fast and friendly. Some issues to mention from how this special used to work. You used to be guaranteed two white and two dark pieces, now you "get what you get." We did end up getting breast wing drum and thigh, so that was good, but it should be guaranteed. You also used to be able to pick your side. Now you only get mashed potatoes. Also, you now have to buy a drink to get the Sunday deal, and you didn't used to have to do that. I know times are tough out there, but these caveats make the deal way less appealing and we no longer go as often as we used to. read more

Great family dinner! We had a reservation for the private room for a large group (seats 14). We were kindly greeted and seated within ten mins of arriving. The place was packed for a Saturday night. So glad we had a reservation. Our server was great! My boyfriend loved his espresso martini. We ordered the tomahawk rib eye steak and added a side of sweet potato fries to share between three adults. The steak was cooked perfectly! We also sampled the prime rib sandwich which was also tasty. Easy parking. Clean bathrooms. The restaurant was very loud. I was recommend this place by a coworker, and it is definitely delicious for my meal. I'm the type of person who knows what I want prior to going to a planned dinner. I don't want to read the menu when sat, I'm there to socialize with family or friends. I decided before going on the pot pie, my server kindly asked if I liked mushrooms, which wasn't an ingredient on the menu listing. I said "eh they are ok, not the biggest fan". Where do I start. Oh yeah should have come here sooner. I had a special meatball stroganoff. It was fantastic. Noodles were perfect meatballs were made in house as expected. Also my party had the braised duroc pork shoulder with grits n collard greens. I'll be honest I can't stand collard greens, I tasted these and wow I'm a changed man, they were fantastic a little tart on tasted was perfect. Service was always there taking care of us. It was busy packed but not loud. The menu is not too complicated a great selection for everyone in the party. And since dinner was so good we went for dessert. A couple of friends and I met for our monthly book club happy hour and the drinks and apps did not disappoint! We tried the Ruby Red Slipper, The Lavender Bee, and the Greyhound. They were all very tasty, but the Ruby Red Slipper was my favorite! We also ordered a few apps - regular fries, sweet potato fries, Korean steak tacos, and the mini cheddar biscuits. They had a dessert tray that we spotted when we walked in and it was a must try. We settled on the s'mores pie! Everything was great and I will definitely be back! Per the usual, I snapped a photo of our drinks but then I got too excited about the food and forgot to take a couple photos. The only thing to beware of is that the happy hour specials are ONLY for the bar area. We didn't know that when we arrived and we were seated in the restaurant. After being seated and served water, we found out about the specials and had to move tables. This seemed a bit unnecessary to me since the restaurant area was completely empty and the happy hour specials ended at 6pm. I was visiting Kansas City and a family member recommended this spot! They have parking spaces in front, but it can be a little tricky if it's super crowded. We went on a Sunday around 5:30pm and were able to be seated right away. They asked if we wanted to order from the happy hour menu and if so we needed to sit in the bar area. It would be nice to still partcipate with happy hour, but be able to sit anywhere. The space is pretty large and decorated well. Our server was friendly and attentive. We decided to start with the brussel sprouts. It came with 2 dipping sauces- one was sweet/sour while the other was a creamy spicy jalapeno. It was really good! For the entrees I wasn't too hungry so I got the single burger and it came with fries. My cousin got the salmon. Both were good! Salmon seems to be a popular option here. I will say some of the dishes are a bit expensive- but may lack super quality ingredients. For example, if I am paying $30-40 plus for a salmon dish I would hope its wild caught etc. Im pretty positive is was not and only farm raised etc. That would be one of my only complaints. Stopped for an early lunch, this past Friday. We started with a couple of drinks to warm us u, as the day's mood was gloomy, rainy and chilly. The espresso martinis did the trick! We indulged in the Brussel sprouts and cauliflower, for an appi, with delicious sides of aioli for dipping (the jalapeño was delish). With perfect timing, our lunch entrées arrived; hot Nashville chic salad and the creamy turkey club. Both were good but I would warn the Nashville hit chic was hot and it is a dry rub vs. oily. It was apparent to my husband and I that this restaurant was vey similar to Summit Grill, and we learned they are all part of the same conglomerate, which we don't hate as we are fans of Summit. Think Summit meets Rye if you're familiar with both establishments; upscale, country-southern method of cooking. We need with their decadent flourless chocolate cake, I could eat the ice cream and raspberry sauce alone! We will be back, great spit for any occasion. read more

We came in on a holiday week so I'm sure they were extra busy. We are from out of town so I'm not sure what their normal crowd is. We had a reservation and were seated pretty quickly. We were hoping to take advantage of happy hour but were told it was only in the bar area (didn't say that anywhere on the website). Oh well! We didn't get any alcohol because of this though. Our server/service was very slow. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times, only after we caught the attention of our server. She was very nice but slow and not a great server. There were a lot of large groups celebrating together so it was loud, especially the table next to us who had a guest that honestly was so loud it really tainted our experience. That's not really the restaurants fault though, other than the table being so close to theirs. We were talked in to ordering the cheddar biscuits. They were...fine. They didn't really taste cheesy, more just like normal biscuits. Good but nothing super special and we wish we would have either not go them or got a different appetizer. My husband got the pastrami and it was good. I got the Korean steak and noodle salad and it was pretty good but lacked a little something to make it truly memorable. I would say there's enough noodles to make it more of a cold noodle bowl than a salad, too. We would try it again. The menu is large with variety so there is something for everyone. read more

We've been big fans of the Summit Grill in Gladstone, so when we heard that Third Street Social, a sister restaurant, had opened in Metro North Crossing, we made a reservation for Saturday evening. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and were immediately seated in a comfy booth. The dining room is spacious, with lots of natural lighting and a cool contemporary vibe. We were super impressed by our server Sam. He had worked at their Plaza location and relocated for the Northland opening. He was friendly, engaging and very helpful. We felt like we found our perfect server for our next visit. With only two of us dining, there were many items on the menu calling our names. We started with the Crispy Fried Brussels and Cauliflower. Loved the preparation and the Jalapeno aioli and malt vinegar aioli. This portion was large enough it could be entrée for a vegetarian. Other great starters include the Deviled Eggs, Korean Steak Tacos and Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Sam suggested the Tomahawk Ribeye for two, the Hawaiian Ribeye and the Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon as his go-to-entrée-picks. I went with the Salmon and it was awesome. The stuffing was delish, but the sauce served with the salmon was superb. Loved the huge asparagus spears and mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the Korean Steak & Noodle Salad, and it was a mix of flavors and textures, served with roast Sesame Dressing. It's a huge serving, that easily could be split among two to three diners. For dessert, the warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream was a perfect ending to a great night. We made a reservation and were seated when we arrived. However, I was a little disappointed to be at a small table in the back corner of the bar area since we had made a reservation well in advance. I would have preferred to be in a more comfortable spot and not feel crammed in the corner. Jason our server was phenomenal. He was honest and attentive. I don't like being sold on items and he was honest about the menu. Just enough time to feel waited on but not rushed. Our salads came with our food. I would have liked some spacing between them. The food was just warm but not hot. Everything was good and the portions were large. I recently had knee surgery. This place was chosen due to the fun happy hour drinks and foods. However upon entering the "happy hour area" I noticed no short tables. They would not accommodate me and therefore my group had to pay more per person for eating there due to eating on the other "side". This is not handicapped accessible. A big disappointment. Very cool vibe here. My friend and I came here on a Sunday and were told it would be a half hour wait but we only waited 10 minutes, yay. The waitress came right away to take our order. I ordered breakfast tacos which were good. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy and loved it. Our waitress was great. She kept checking on us and filling up our water and iced tea. I do like to have something sweet after meals so I ordered a piece of key lime pie to take home but let's be honest, I had to have two bites and could hardly stop myself from eating more. Yummy happy hour options! Came in on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised that they have a happy hour on the weekend! This was a major plus. I tried two of their cocktails from the happy hour menu and they were both really tasty and well priced. I also tried a couple appetizers off the happy hour menu as well. The meatball sliders were good but the burnt ends were really good! I peeked at their normal menu and was relieved that we came during happy hour because it was rather pricey. The vibe was more upscale though so it may have been worth it. The design was cute and there was multiple different seating options. I've been to this location a few times as well as the Lee's Summit location. The food has always been great at both locations. Ok this particular visit the food was great but the service was seriously lacking. It was about twenty minutes after we were seated before anyone even came to take our drink orders. That set the tone for the meal because everything else was slow as well. We ended up getting a couple droning and appetizers before our meals. Our glasses and plates from our appetizers were never cleared off the table until the bill arrived. We arrived right at 3pm on Sunday for a late lunch. Since their happy hour starts at 3 we decided to sit in the bar area to order. We sat for a bit, no service, but several servers were there, we finally were able to order our drinks and a cauliflower broccoli appetizer. And we sat.....for about 15 minutes we finally stopped the waitress to put our lunch order in. When the appetizer came it was soggy, pretty horrible actually (supposed to be crispy and fresh). Finally our lunch came, chicken tenders were hot lamp warm with no breading. Been here multiple times, never received chicken tenders that looked this bad. I would have told the waitress but we didn't see her back until we were done, I had saved a chicken finger to show her how badly these things looked and she said she had another incident earlier but no offer to redo. Then to top it all off, they auto tip you now on your check. That means there is absolutely no incentive on the wait staff to be attentive. I am a great tipper, usually well over 20%. Not this time. I am not sure if this is a management issue, staff issue or kitchen issue but my guess it is management. read more

Third Street Social is a fine spot to grab a lunch. There's nothing particularly special or outstanding about the restaurant but that's ok. It's got good food and makes for a good spot to grab a bite with family. We went on a snowy day after Thanksgiving and there were a few groups having parties and using a private dining area. I thought it was neat the restaurant was doing a great job serving the private parties and parties of what seemed to be 10+. We went on a weekend day and didn't have a problem getting a table or anything. The hostess was friendly and made sure we sat exactly where we wanted to be. I'm blanking on our server's name but they were very helpful with my family's gluten intolerance. They checked on every item and made sure everything was good for them! As for food, we shared the deviled eggs which were just like the ones you'd have at a family get together. I had the Social Cheeseburger for my main. I enjoyed the burger and liked the stacked, thinner patties. The burger was pretty good but I wish it came with a larger side of fries. read more

Third Street Social's third metro location is in the Metro North Crossing. Certainly a much more swanky dining option than anything that has ever sat on that property in the past 50 years. I am one that welcomed the demise of the shopping center culture of the last century and welcomed the demolition of the former mall. Out with the old and in with the new! TSS is a large open area with lots of natural sunlight during my Tuesday afternoon lunch. Mid-century supper club ambiance with stylish seating options, a large bar area that I'm sure can get loud on busy weekend evening with the acoustics and space size. With a menu centering around Southern comfort food, I went with the Chicken Mac and Cheese. A large serving of rotini noodles blended into a creamy pimento cheese sauce with jalapeños, mushrooms and diced fried chicken covering the top. Exquisite! It was a very filling and easily lived up to its billing as a comfort food. The two staff that I interacted with were pleasant and professional. Service- our waiter was slow but good. He did his best for how busy they started getting around 5. Food: this is the major reason for the knock down in stars. First if you are not a blue cheese fan... it takes out at least 10 menu options lol. Is that how they make restaurants sound fancy... they add blue cheese to a bunch of dishes? Anywho, I ended up going with a salad even though I really don't like spending over $20 for a salad... I got the salmon 'Caesar' they called it. I wasn't a huge fan and then cut into my salmon and it was still raw, had my husband look at it and he's like yeah don't eat that. So I lost my appetite. The waiter ended up comping that meal, thankfully. My husband got the catfish with sweet potato fries- I love sweet potato fries so he shared- those were yummy! Overall, prices were steep, happy hour menu was not that great- prices or options. We probably won't be back. I've never left a review, especially not a one-star review, but after today's experience, I felt it was necessary. My boyfriend and I have visited Third Street several times and have always had great service. Unfortunately, today left us extremely disappointed. We arrived for happy hour around 3:15 and found a table in the bar area, as we normally do. It took 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When we were finally greeted, we placed a simple order: a glass of wine, a well cocktail, and a side of fries. It took another 10 minutes just to receive our drinks, and as we waited for the fries, we both finished our drinks with no check-in. About 15 minutes later, we were finally asked if we wanted to order food. When we inquired about the fries, the server admitted she forgot to put in the order. We decided to just ask for the check. Another 15 minutes passed before we received it. What's most frustrating is that the bar was nearly empty. There were at least three servers present, and we noticed the manager standing nearby on multiple occasions, on their phone, chatting with staff, or looking at things on other servers' phones. At no point did anyone come by to check in on us. To top it off, my wine glass was dirty. We were there for a full hour and only managed to get one drink each. Sadly, this experience has left a bad taste in our mouths, and we don't plan to return any time soon. Luckily, Summit Grill continues to provide the consistent service and quality we expect, so we'll be heading there instead. read more
