    Take home!

We had the grilled chicken sandwich and smothered turkey club , both excellent. Beth, our server, was cheerful, attentive, and made sure she made suggestions, that we're on point.

We went in for the Sunday half price chicken special. The chicken was tasty as ever and the mashed potatoes and pickled veggies with it were great too. Service was fast and friendly. Some issues to mention from how this special used to work. You used to be guaranteed two white and two dark pieces, now you "get what you get." We did end up getting breast wing drum and thigh, so that was good, but it should be guaranteed. You also used to be able to pick your side. Now you only get mashed potatoes. Also, you now have to buy a drink to get the Sunday deal, and you didn't used to have to do that. I know times are tough out there, but these caveats make the deal way less appealing and we no longer go as often as we used to.

Great family dinner! We had a reservation for the private room for a large group (seats 14). We were kindly greeted and seated within ten mins of arriving. The place was packed for a Saturday night. So glad we had a reservation. Our server was great! My boyfriend loved his espresso martini. We ordered the tomahawk rib eye steak and added a side of sweet potato fries to share between three adults. The steak was cooked perfectly! We also sampled the prime rib sandwich which was also tasty. Easy parking. Clean bathrooms. The restaurant was very loud. Having the option of closing our sliding door helped a little, but it was loud. Overall, great experience.

I was recommend this place by a coworker, and it is definitely delicious for my meal. I'm the type of person who knows what I want prior to going to a planned dinner. I don't want to read the menu when sat, I'm there to socialize with family or friends. I decided before going on the pot pie, my server kindly asked if I liked mushrooms, which wasn't an ingredient on the menu listing. I said "eh they are ok, not the biggest fan". Instead she recommended the chicken and spinach lasagna. I am so happy I went with this choice. It was amazing and filling. Other pros: macaroni side was large and delicious, my dad seemed to enjoy the pastrami sandwich. It wasn't very loud there. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Cons: dry rub burger was meh, for a dry rub it was very saucy and the bottom bun basically was disintegrated and the chicken and waffles weren't too exciting. I ended up with the phyllo desert, it was ok. I recommend them to think about a Mac and cheese burger, the Mac and cheese was very appetizing.

First time visiting this location. It was a little tricky to find since it sits back off the road. But once you get here, the inside view is very bright and of course they still have the great menu. Service was great and the food & drinks always hit the spot. I ordered my usual Shrimp and grits. So much flavor in it, highly recommend.

Happy hour $8 cocktails - Ruby Red Slipper, The Lavender Bee, and Greyhound

A couple of friends and I met for our monthly book club happy hour and the drinks and apps did not disappoint! We tried the Ruby Red Slipper, The Lavender Bee, and the Greyhound. They were all very tasty, but the Ruby Red Slipper was my favorite! We also ordered a few apps - regular fries, sweet potato fries, Korean steak tacos, and the mini cheddar biscuits. They had a dessert tray that we spotted when we walked in and it was a must try. We settled on the s'mores pie! Everything was great and I will definitely be back! Per the usual, I snapped a photo of our drinks but then I got too excited about the food and forgot to take a couple photos. The only thing to beware of is that the happy hour specials are ONLY for the bar area. We didn't know that when we arrived and we were seated in the restaurant. After being seated and served water, we found out about the specials and had to move tables. This seemed a bit unnecessary to me since the restaurant area was completely empty and the happy hour specials ended at 6pm. Also, since we had to move to the bar, we had to change serves and we felt bad for our first server. For this reason, my rating went from a 5 star to a 4 star.

I was visiting Kansas City and a family member recommended this spot! They have parking spaces in front, but it can be a little tricky if it's super crowded. We went on a Sunday around 5:30pm and were able to be seated right away. They asked if we wanted to order from the happy hour menu and if so we needed to sit in the bar area. It would be nice to still partcipate with happy hour, but be able to sit anywhere. The space is pretty large and decorated well. Our server was friendly and attentive. We decided to start with the brussel sprouts. It came with 2 dipping sauces- one was sweet/sour while the other was a creamy spicy jalapeno. It was really good! For the entrees I wasn't too hungry so I got the single burger and it came with fries. My cousin got the salmon. Both were good! Salmon seems to be a popular option here. I will say some of the dishes are a bit expensive- but may lack super quality ingredients. For example, if I am paying $30-40 plus for a salmon dish I would hope its wild caught etc. Im pretty positive is was not and only farm raised etc. That would be one of my only complaints. I do like how they have specials deals on certain days with specific meals. I believe Sunday was the fried chicken dinner. I would go back here! Overall experience 4/5

    Nashville Hot Chicken Salad
    Monica P.

Stopped for an early lunch, this past Friday. We started with a couple of drinks to warm us u, as the day's mood was gloomy, rainy and chilly. The espresso martinis did the trick! We indulged in the Brussel sprouts and cauliflower, for an appi, with delicious sides of aioli for dipping (the jalapeño was delish). With perfect timing, our lunch entrées arrived; hot Nashville chic salad and the creamy turkey club. Both were good but I would warn the Nashville hit chic was hot and it is a dry rub vs. oily. It was apparent to my husband and I that this restaurant was vey similar to Summit Grill, and we learned they are all part of the same conglomerate, which we don't hate as we are fans of Summit. Think Summit meets Rye if you're familiar with both establishments; upscale, country-southern method of cooking. We need with their decadent flourless chocolate cake, I could eat the ice cream and raspberry sauce alone! We will be back, great spit for any occasion.

We've been big fans of the Summit Grill in Gladstone, so when we heard that Third Street Social, a sister restaurant, had opened in Metro North Crossing, we made a reservation for Saturday evening. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation and were immediately seated in a comfy booth. The dining room is spacious, with lots of natural lighting and a cool contemporary vibe. We were super impressed by our server Sam. He had worked at their Plaza location and relocated for the Northland opening. He was friendly, engaging and very helpful. We felt like we found our perfect server for our next visit. With only two of us dining, there were many items on the menu calling our names. We started with the Crispy Fried Brussels and Cauliflower. Loved the preparation and the Jalapeno aioli and malt vinegar aioli. This portion was large enough it could be entrée for a vegetarian. Other great starters include the Deviled Eggs, Korean Steak Tacos and Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Sam suggested the Tomahawk Ribeye for two, the Hawaiian Ribeye and the Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon as his go-to-entrée-picks. I went with the Salmon and it was awesome. The stuffing was delish, but the sauce served with the salmon was superb. Loved the huge asparagus spears and mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the Korean Steak & Noodle Salad, and it was a mix of flavors and textures, served with roast Sesame Dressing. It's a huge serving, that easily could be split among two to three diners. For dessert, the warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream was a perfect ending to a great night. Can't wait to return.

We made a reservation and were seated when we arrived. However, I was a little disappointed to be at a small table in the back corner of the bar area since we had made a reservation well in advance. I would have preferred to be in a more comfortable spot and not feel crammed in the corner. Jason our server was phenomenal. He was honest and attentive. I don't like being sold on items and he was honest about the menu. Just enough time to feel waited on but not rushed. Our salads came with our food. I would have liked some spacing between them. The food was just warm but not hot. Everything was good and the portions were large. We will try again and see if next time we can have a more comfortable seating option, more spacing between food, and hot food.

Our friend got the breakfast enchiladas and said it was very good, she likes the green sauce over the red. I didn't personally try so I can't say how it was. My son ordered the traditional breakfast, and that's exactly what it was, but he liked it. The pancakes are the size of the plate and had a fluffy center and crispy edges. We did have to ask for more syrup because they were so big. The only reason it was not a 5 was because I felt the waitress could have been around more. I felt that since we had a group of 7 and the gratuity was already added she didn't worry about it. Our waters went empty and we had to ask a different waiter for more water and syrup, when she came over the water was warm and didn't have any ice. A kid spilled her syrup we went and asked for a rag and we cleaned it up which we expected but we had to flag someone down to see if she could get more syrup. I just felt she wasn't as attractive as she could have been. We went there on a Monday around 9:45, so it wasn't extremely busy. I would say that you should try it, it was good food!

To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.
