I don't review often, but I felt the need to review today based on the poor service I received today. I came in with a sore throat and nasal pain and mildly poor breathing (there's been a lot of smoke in the air due to multiple fires going on in Alaska) and haven't felt well for the last several days. The PA on staff, Eric Souja, was very nice and apologetic for the wait, which I appreciate, but no other staff there let me know why there was such a long wait time to be seen in the urgent care. They recently got a new EHR and it was causing delays (and only the PA let me know this was the reason for the delay). My full name was called when I was brought back (which is a HIPAA violation) and nobody mentioned why they were backlogged until I actually saw the provider. It was at 330-4pm and there were at least five other people working in this small urgent care clinic who could have let all us patients in the Waiting room, know why there was such a timely delay...and yet they chose not to and continued in their social interactions with one another. I work in the healthcare field myself and we pride ourselves on good patient experience. That Didn't seem to be a concern at this clinic when I arrived. HIPAA was violated by calling each patient back by their full first and last names (this can be a very costly fine for Doing so...yet I doubt they are aware or Even care)...and my chart was incorrectly Documented by the staff who worked me up Before seeing the provider. This also Wasn't corrected, after seeing the provider And telling him that the documentation wasn't correctly input, which was kind of surprising to me because I had mentioned it to him that it was as incorrect. I went to check out and was told my total, which was correct, but my chart was still incorrect and it took another 20-30 minutes to fix it, check me out and get a work note and prescription for my visit. They didn't care to ask if I'd like my rx Called in either. The wait was approximately 2+ hours and there wasn't a huge influx of Patients while I was there. There was at least Five other people working there, besides the provider and so I'm honestly surprised on the wait time. I've Never been to an urgent care before where I've waited so long to be seen, and where it seemed as if nobody cared about me besides the actual provider. He was the only person to apologize multiple times for the wait, which I appreciate, but it shouldn't be his sole responsibility to do so or let patients know why there is a delay. That is a front of The office responsibility in my opinion. There is definitely a huge lack of responsibility there in that office and I do not See myself ever going back for any reason. I will find another urgent care if needed. I'd rather sit in an ER and be taken care of better and wait longer, than be seen at a clinic where nobody but the actual provider seems to Care about their job or the care of a patient. I'm extremely disappointed and this is an extremely poor reflection of Primary Care Associates as a company. read more

If you genuinely need some medical attention soon, just go to the ER in providence. I brought my mom here 1/31/26, she wasn't breathing well all night and got no sleep. By the time I brought her to Primary Care Associates she was barely able to stand up due to her restricted breathing. They say there and asked a million questions about insurance rather than helping her. Then told her to go sit and wait, we had to leave due to the severity of her breathing. This place is not helpful, and medically neglectful. She was dismissed and ignored. 10/10 do not recommend. read more

Is it possible to award a negative number of stars? Frankly, I surprised that Dr. Bruce Kiessling is allowed to run a medical clinic. I'm even more surprised that he is allowed to remain a doctor at all, much less an "award winning" doctor. I made the mistake of declining a flu shot. Background: I've been unhappy with the clinic I've been using for the past 5 years. They seem to have a revolving door at the doctors entrance, being unable to keep quality doctors on staff. A co-worker recommended the doctor he had used for a number of years, Dr. Bruce Kiessling. The PCA clinic did the usual new patient stuff, had me filing out forms, asking me questions. Since I was going to be paying for the visit out of pocket and was simply wanting to get established as a new patient, I turned down their offers for multiple (and undoubtedly, expensive for me, profitable for them) "add-ons", including a flu shot. When Kiessling came in, he told me that I had "failed" his "IQ Test" (I had turned down the flu shot), telling me that I was stupid, that he wouldn't have me as a patient and all but ordering me out of his clinic. Had any of his staff treated patients (or would that be 'surfs') that way, he would have undoubtedly fired them. But being 'god' in this clinic, Kiessling can apparently ignore any sort of code of professional conduct and none dare challenge him. read more

Dr. Jane Simono has a mother's touch! She has a brilliant and kind assistant named Jasmine who always make sure to go the extra mile when it comes to taking care of me and making me comfortable. The ladies at the front desk are always busy and working diligently when I enter their office but never too busy to not greet patients with a smile. I couldn't ask for better care than what Primary Care Associates delivers. I'm just feeling so blessed to be treated like a human rather than a test subject at the doctors office...if you are in need of a new physician I highly recommend Dr. Simono and the team that supports her at Primary Care Associates!!! read more

I have left 2 messages for a call back regarding my codes on labs that were ordered and no call back either from the doctors assistant or the office manager. ( I called the assistant last Thursday and Officer Manager yesterday) Really?!!! Very disappointed! And this isn't the first time that return calls take more than a week. this place seems normal and great on the out side but, they don't care that you pick them as your primary provider. I get blood drawn and labs done on a regular basis. I would use their own facility for that but I looked into the cost and they are over double the cost. So I have them send in orders to my preferred(and cheaper) lab. Primary care has not sent in the request at least 3x. and then when I call in while I'm waiting they are unapologetic. This last time was the last straw. Very disappointed in the care, or lack of care shown my daughter tonight at Primary Care Associates. She was referred to the Emergency Department and told she might need a blood transfusion and procedures to address her medical problem. She was instructed to do this before the weekend was over. Not only did she get referred needlessly but a simple blood count would have given a better picture of her problem and it would not have indicated an emergency room visit. The Primary Care Associates website states in several places to come there as they have diagnostic services and are open 7 days a week until 9 pm and you will save money going there instead of other more expensive clinics or the Emergency Department. We went in at about 6 pm and were told they do not have lab services on Saturday evenings so we would need to go to the ER. This was a gigantic waste of resources, time, and money that should and definitely could have been addressed at Primary Care Associates. My daughter was scared and only did as she was instructed. The ER at ARH was very good with nice staff and medical care but that is besides the point. She did not need to go there to get the treatment she received. read more

Okay, you lets say you have come to the Last Frontier for your visit. While you are here, (God Forbid) something comes up where you will need medical attention, and you need it now. Please follow my suggestion and report yourself to Primary Care on Lake Otis. There on the 3rd floor, you will find Dr. J. Little. He is a medical wonder. I went in 6 years ago, after tearing myself apart working. I was so close to bye-bye ville, but Dr. Little caught on right away to my ailments, (blown thyroid, blood pressure out of whack, and everything else), and he put me back together. My annual check-up labs were coded incorrectly, and when PCA said they would correct and re-send to insurance, they didn't. When I didn't receive a corrected claim, I contacted them again. By the time they finally did resubmit to insurance, insurance said it had been over a year, so they wouldn't pay. Calls to billing have been fruitless. Every time I call, they say they will call me back or I leave a message, and they don't return my call. I'm giving up. It isn't worth the time and effort of calling and calling and nothing happening. I will never return to Primary Care Associates or use any U.S. HealthWorks facility. The billing office only cares if you have a payment to make; they won't fix PCA's own errors that cost you hundreds of dollars. read more

Beware!!! These guys will find every possible way to charge you! One time I did my annual physical there and apart from the routine exams they did a vitamin D exam which I hadn't requested and most insurances don't cover and charged me an extra $160 for the stupid exam! Now they did the same thing to my wife! This is their way of making more money which is a fraud and they should be sued for it!! Never go there again!!! read more

I'm very concerned about the primary care associate entities that supposedly have the same file medical information on patients that have visited both the primary care on Lake Otis and also the urgent care primary care at the Huffman urgent care. The PCA offices are supposedly connected, and the medical information of a patient should be in 1 system. I have visited PCA, twice now, one visit at the Lake Otis office, upstairs, then another a week and half later at the Huffmann urgent PCA. I am still sick, after switching antibiotics and being tested for Influenza and strep. Both negative. Now I am still having worst symptoms, and I am trying to do a Telehealth appointment, but the Huffmann clinic has a empty chart on me, I spent 200$ for testing there. The receptionist said there is no information on me, so I called the Lake Otis clinic back, the receptionist said she found the visit there, but not in Huffmann. This is concerning, due to the Covid virus going on. I shouldn't have to do my own foot work to find my medical information so it's accurate, both receptionists were not helpful, just nonchalant, I know health professionals are busy. I am a nurse, working hard right now, and need to make sure I don't have Covid, so I do the right thing, seeing a doctor, now going through Telehealth, but they can't get there notes straight. I am tired too, working the front line, but my patients don't have to struggle to get care, I do though. I feel very mistreated, by the front receptionists, saying, well they probably don't have your name or DOB wrong, almost as if that's acceptable. NOT. read more

I have been using Primary Care Associates for 6 years now. I have had the best treatment from medical care people there compared to anywhere I have ever gone to. I see Ashley Marquardt P.A. - C regularly and he is great! I have used both the Huffman and Lake Otis walk in clinics as well and have been treated great every time I have went. read more

Dr. Foland's nurse, Jennifer, is RUDE! I had seen Dr. Foland twice and liked her well enough, but after leaveing a message for Dr. Foland's nurse at the advise of the front desk staff, she finally called me back a day later, and could barley stand to give me five minutes of her time, then she cut me off in mid-sentence saying she was too busy, and hung up! Message between The front desk and doctors and/or PA's seem to consistently get messed up or not even delivered. If they get returned they are often rude. This place is a definite for profit patient processor that doesn't seem to care much about their patients as long as they're getting their insurance money. read more

Think twice before going here they have terrible communication skills. Their front desk is ran by a bunch of idiots. Took me two weeks to get a call back. Then the doctor acted like I should have done more. I explained I left I've 10 messages. Really. And out of the 10 messages it took 2 weeks for a call back. I also think the doctor is an idiot. And her staff will remain idiots because she allow it. Now I get to start my deductible again INCOMPETENT! Me and my family of 4 will never be back there. Should be called primary no care. read more

The Providers and staff at Primary Care Associates are courteous, but hardly professional. My wife use to work there and so i went there for my doctor visits. After several visits the doctors still cannot explain my issue and then ontop of that they charged us the wrong amount. We tried to contact them to resolve the issue, but took several weeks/months to get a call back. We tried to setup a payment plan for all these visits, but what they were asking for was too high and not something we could afford. We tried to call them several times again with no returned calls. Even went to the office in person to try and resolve this, but the billing person was out or away or busy. Other doctors offices will accept $10 a month and we were offering $50 and yet they still said no and then sent us to collections. Still not willing to work with us. Save yourself time and frustration. Go to Medical Park Family Care or ANHC or pretty much any other urgent care in town. read more
