The ladies at the front desk are always busy and working diligently when I enter their office but never too busy to not greet patients with a smile. I couldn't ask for better care than what Primary Care Associates delivers. I'm just feeling so blessed to be treated like a human rather than a test subject at the doctors office...if you are in need of a new physician I highly recommend Dr. Simono and the team that supports her at Primary Care Associates!!!

Is it possible to award a negative number of stars?…read more Frankly, I surprised that Dr. Bruce Kiessling is allowed to run a medical clinic. I'm even more surprised that he is allowed to remain a doctor at all, much less an "award winning" doctor. I made the mistake of declining a flu shot. Background: I've been unhappy with the clinic I've been using for the past 5 years. They seem to have a revolving door at the doctors entrance, being unable to keep quality doctors on staff. A co-worker recommended the doctor he had used for a number of years, Dr. Bruce Kiessling. The PCA clinic did the usual new patient stuff, had me filing out forms, asking me questions. Since I was going to be paying for the visit out of pocket and was simply wanting to get established as a new patient, I turned down their offers for multiple (and undoubtedly, expensive for me, profitable for them) "add-ons", including a flu shot. When Kiessling came in, he told me that I had "failed" his "IQ Test" (I had turned down the flu shot), telling me that I was stupid, that he wouldn't have me as a patient and all but ordering me out of his clinic. Had any of his staff treated patients (or would that be 'surfs') that way, he would have undoubtedly fired them. But being 'god' in this clinic, Kiessling can apparently ignore any sort of code of professional conduct and none dare challenge him.

I called the manufacture and they told me the device was a Libre 14 not a Libra 2. l went back to AUC and was given the correct prescription. l pay for this out of my own pocket as the VA does not cover it (my cancer and diabetes are because of Agent Orange Exposure) Well the wrong prescription cost me $88 and l talked to the Dr. about reimbursement for the incorrect prescription and he said his boss said no, at which point time I said he should pay me himself and he said his boss would not allow it. What is ironic about all this is when he just finished writing the wrong prescription for me he told me how he disliked the VA and encouraged me to have all my medical needs provided by them... l am contacting the Alaska Medical Board and trying to get the money from him at court.

Waited a little over an hour. Once I got back to the room the assistant asked some questions and then The doctor came about 5 minutes later. He said that it takes about 10 days to really tell if it was a sinus infection. He said they used to prescribe antibiotics without knowing if it was bacterial or viral infection. They were just over prescribing antibiotics for things like this so they wait 10 days. So he sent us to Walmart and I got a generic nasal spray that you take once every 10 hours. The Flonase you can only take 72hrs and if you take more you get rebound congestion. I only had to pay my copay and was on my way soon after. They called me a few days later to check in on me. At that time I thought it was getting better. Now it has been a week since I went in and I'm still very congested to I called them. They gave me an antibiotic prescription without having to go in again. Overall the people working that I saw were great, front desk lady is efficient and helpful, doctor was nice. The place is pretty dated looking, far from fancy or new. They say it depends on the day and they never know how busy it will be. Sometimes they have a line of people when they open sometimes not. You can always call ahead and see what they wait it. By the time I went into the dr. Office it was a two hour wait. I'm just hoping to antibiotics work and if they do I should be better in 2 to 3 days. As I'm writing this it will have been day 12! Finger crossed!

They actually took the time to listen to me; the doctor would explain what they felt was the issue and felt I ought to be admitted as a patient and the internist came in told me their plan of care for me and I went to my room. There was a nurse who was in charge of the floor I was sent to and he took the time to walk with me and talk and ask questions if I had any. Then after my tests the doctor explained my situation to me told me that I was being referred to a neurologist to speak with the step in my plan of care. They had a nickname for this doctor because it was a zoom conversation which he asked me question and told me I needed to see a neurosurgeon and referred me to Dr. Waller, who did my surgery a few weeks later. I do not remember everyone's name because it was a scary time because of the findings. The internists that followed me through the admission were very nice and took the time to actually talk with me. The only complaint I do have is that my Iv site was infiltrated and the nurses felt that since they could still flush it with normal saline doesn't tell you that it is infiltrated. When I had to go for my MRIs I told them this issue, I needed medication to be able to take the tests and them giving me the medication by IV did not work at all. The tech who did the tests was very good at her job and very understanding when I could not continue with the testing. Overall, the care I received was very good and the reason I say this is because I am a retired nurse and they were very friendly, personable as compared to the horrible experience I had at Providence where I had another type of surgery, at that hospital in PACU where you are when you wake from your surgery, the person sitting next to my stretcher was talking to someone on his cellphone while I began waking up, did not talk with me but continued to yell asking when my bed was going to be ready and when he was told it was ready he said "finally" proceeded to grab all the wires attached to my chest at the same time and yanked them off, very painful to me (this is what is called unprofessional) and the care I got on the floor was also as horrible because they do not care about their patients and how they treat them (so the people who say that Providence is a better hospital I am sorry just because it "looks cleaner does not relate to be better), different surgery that was necessary that occurred in between this admission and the surgery from this admission. The surgery that stemmed from the admission was very terrifying for me. The staff in the OR were very understanding of the fact of me being very claustrophobic and allowed me to hold my own mask as they were administering my medication to go to sleep. This is beyond what they really needed to do but they did and it helped calm me down and gave the whole atmosphere a little more relaxed under the anxiety I was having. I want to thank them all on both of these admission to Regional for the care I received other than the IV issue was excellent care. I was at this hospital in June and August of 2025 and at Providence in July of 2025.

The nurse receptionist was very pleasant, took husband's details, and took him back immediately. I was invited to go with him, which I most assuredly wanted to do, and see him get a needle in the arm. She examined the puncture wound, after taking all of his vitals. She was very fast and efficient. I expected to have to wait for a doctor to come in, which is kind of standard in any doctor's office, in my experience. The doctor was there within a few minutes, and he had a good sense of humour, which I liked. He told husband to rest the foot, and keep his weight off it. ( "that ain't happening" I muttered under my breath) He also said that tetanus isn't in Alaska. I found that curious, and I googled it. So whilst it's rarer up here, in my opinion, I would venture forth that if anyone was gonna get it, my husband would be the one. He's quite an unlucky fella. Anyway, the tetanus booster shot was prescribed, and the doctor left the room. Seconds later, the nurse came back in, and administered the shot, and put a bandaid over the puncture wound. No antibiotics were prescribed at this stage, however she said they'd be in touch in two days to make sure it was healing well, and to contact them should any signs of infection become apparent. We were in and out within 20 minutes. Now yes, this is a smaller office, and I personally prefer it, due to how speedily we were seen. I had a wait of over 2 hours when going to the one where REI used to be. That one is large, with lots of receptionists, and we had to wait in the car, till we were called into the building for an examination. I prefer this small office approach.
