I'll start by saying, I have been to AMS Urgent care a handful of times and have always had a great…read moreexperience with the front desk staff. They are professional and kind. My most recent trips I worked with Doctor Elizabath Clawson and she has spoiled the experience for me. I likely will not be returning again. I went in, knowing what was wrong with me and looking for a urinalysis to confirm so I could be medicated. Before the testing was even complete the Doctor, rather matter of fact, diagnosed me with two things that were completely outlandish. Once the 1st round of testing came back she was confirmed to be wrong. Then she again diagnosed me with another issue that was outlandish and urged me to go to the ER. Days later testing came back and what I knew to be the issue was the issue. If I hadn't met her one time previously and learned how she behaved I would have been scared to death and in tears. A doctor is supposed to be supportive with the goal of achieving care rather than the goal of sparking fear and diagnosing with no solid facts or evidence. She told me I was pregnant before a test was even complete. I was not pregnant and that shouldn't be the go to prognosis when a woman is in pain.

AMS is my go-to urgent care clinic. Everyone there is super nice and friendly. The doctors and…read morePA's are very thorough, knowledgeable and helpful. I recommend going to them before the ER if it's not a life threatening condition and you want to be seen in a timely manner.

I called the manufacture and they told me the device was a Libre 14 not a Libra 2. l went back to AUC and was given the correct prescription. l pay for this out of my own pocket as the VA does not cover it (my cancer and diabetes are because of Agent Orange Exposure) Well the wrong prescription cost me $88 and l talked to the Dr. about reimbursement for the incorrect prescription and he said his boss said no, at which point time I said he should pay me himself and he said his boss would not allow it. What is ironic about all this is when he just finished writing the wrong prescription for me he told me how he disliked the VA and encouraged me to have all my medical needs provided by them... l am contacting the Alaska Medical Board and trying to get the money from him at court.

I have had good experiences with this place. I personally have been treated here once. May 2022. I…read morehad been congested for 5 days so I went in at about 5pm. There was an hour wait. Waited a little over an hour. Once I got back to the room the assistant asked some questions and then The doctor came about 5 minutes later. He said that it takes about 10 days to really tell if it was a sinus infection. He said they used to prescribe antibiotics without knowing if it was bacterial or viral infection. They were just over prescribing antibiotics for things like this so they wait 10 days. So he sent us to Walmart and I got a generic nasal spray that you take once every 10 hours. The Flonase you can only take 72hrs and if you take more you get rebound congestion. I only had to pay my copay and was on my way soon after. They called me a few days later to check in on me. At that time I thought it was getting better. Now it has been a week since I went in and I'm still very congested to I called them. They gave me an antibiotic prescription without having to go in again. Overall the people working that I saw were great, front desk lady is efficient and helpful, doctor was nice. The place is pretty dated looking, far from fancy or new. They say it depends on the day and they never know how busy it will be. Sometimes they have a line of people when they open sometimes not. You can always call ahead and see what they wait it. By the time I went into the dr. Office it was a two hour wait. I'm just hoping to antibiotics work and if they do I should be better in 2 to 3 days. As I'm writing this it will have been day 12! Finger crossed!

I had a sleep study on June 26, 2023. I did not get an invoice or bill for a year, and when I did…read morefinally get a statement, it showed that only my primary insurance had paid, and they wanted me to pay a balance of $141.28. I called and the Anchorage Sleep Center, and the lady I spoke with said to "tear up that bill and she would bill my secondary". Several months went by, and in January of this year (2025), I got the same statement showing I still owed $141.28, so I wrote a check for that amount. Unfortunately, after I mailed the check, it dawned on me that my secondary still had not paid. So, I called the Sleep Center, and the lady said "I will call you back tomorrow or no later the next day" - well, after a month and a half I still had not received a call. But of course, my check was cashed! During this time, I called my secondary insurance, and they said that they had requested (twice) the original EOB from ANC Sleep Clinic showing what my primary insurance paid, but they never received it, and according to them, I "didn't owe them anything". On March 30, 2025, I sent the Anchorage Sleep Center a letter requesting a refund. I also sent them a copy of my primary insurance's EOB, as well as a copy of my secondary EOBs for this date of service, the statement they sent me from January 2025, and a copy of my cashed check. Again, I have not heard back from them. Not a phone call, a refund check, or any correspondence of any kind. It seems like their billing practices are to lie and then hide, and clearly, they aren't doing their jobs with regards to submitting claims correctly or in a timely manner. I have requested a refund from ANC Sleep Center for the money I paid ($141.28) since it clearly wasn't my fault that THEY didn't submit the claim properly nor in the time frame agreed to in their contract with Blue Cross, and because I didn't owe anything. I didn't even know that this was an issue because they did not send me a statement or call me, if they had, I could have followed up with Blue Cross to see what the problem was. I could have easily printed off an EOB from my primary insurance and submitted it to my secondary myself if I had known. I realize that $141.00 isn't a lot of money in the scope of everything, but the way I was lied to and the fact that obviously they did not do their job, and then just took my check and ran with it is very frustrating. Since all of this has come to light, I have read the patient reviews for this company, and it seems like there is a pattern here of lame billing practices. I would stay away from this Sleep Center, if they can't do the minimum and return calls or file claims properly, and clearly can't resolve these issues either, then it reflects on the whole company!

When we arrived there were two other patients in the reception area waiting to be called back. After about 20 minutes of paperwork she was taken back to do her vitals then shown to an exam room to wait for the doctor. When I say wait I do mean wait. We checked in at 10:40 am the doctor walked in the room the first time at 12:42 pm. She was very efficient and had a good repoire with my daughter. While the staff is friendly the overall time spent at the clinic made my already grumpy and sick teenager grumpier which in turn got me grumpy. Not sure if they can beef up and have two doctors on staff over the weekend but wow...that was a long time to be seen.
