The Scarlet Vetter says.....I was stuck at Laguardia Airport for a few hours waiting for one of the last flights out home, while receiving reports of subzero temps at our house and at least a two hour drive once I landed. Feeling very sorry for myself, I wandered over to a great looking restaurant at Laguardia featuring steak, steak, and more steak. Yum. I ordered a 12 oz New York Strip steak, medium rare, French fries, a beautiful melange of mushrooms, and a Ceasar salad. I also ordered a wonderful bottle of Pinot Noir. A bottle you say???!!!! Well, after all, I had 6 hours to kill. The Fries came long before the steak. This is a positive if you are starving. This is a negative if you are trying to balance your carbs with your protein. I also love fries with mayonnaise, not with ketchup. That is why I ordered mayonnaise and was very disappointed to find little plastic packets of mayonnaise delivered to me instead of something befitting the sixty dollar steak had just ordered. In all, my meal, without the wine, was $100 total. And yet, plastic packets. I digress. The steak arrived, and it was actually quite perfect.......perfectly cooked and juicy .....very flavorful. The mushrooms were plentiful and richly flavored. The steak came with a nice sized salad. So frankly, I never got to eat the small caesar that I ordered extra. So if I were you, I would skip any extra salad...go with the plate salad. The wine was decadent. Luscious and smooth...yum. the service was really quite good, but be prepared to order off your phone for the most part. So, if you are stuck at Laguardia, are hungry, have a $190 bucks to spare and don't mind small plastic packets of condiments....run...don't walk, to this Steakhouse. read more

The ambiance and decor makes you think you'll have a good experience here, not so. No host to show you wear to sit or if you should wait. Order via the QR, no real menus. Breakfast was over as of 10:39am on a Sunday. Order Cheese burger and Turkey club, both with fries. Sandwiches were good, fries were potato bits and cold. Try reordering, same outcome. Servers are stressed, so we had to waive one down for a refill on coffee and water. Do yourself a favor, get something better at Chopt. At least it would be healthier. read more

Had 40 minutes to boarding, popped in for avoid airplane starvation and this was surprisingly fantastic I mean it's the airport so it was a ridiculous price but the food was hot, fresh, delicious, flavorful! They had some smooth jazz going and the server was efficient. Pretty overpriced as airport food tends to be. Burger was average, nothing special. Wings were pretty good and had enough for leftovers. Personally not a huge fan of blue cheese but when I got home and reheated them, the blue cheese melted on the wings and the taste was great! The ordering is done via tablet and you can ask for the waiter to come by using the app too. They might try to get your to leave if you're seated at a table and done eating, but people were sitting at the bar without any plates in front of them working on their laptops. Pretty decent place to get a bite to eat in Terminal D in LGA. Before we get to the review. Since Prime is inside of an airport, we already know that the prices are going to be sky-high (no pun). Compared to other airport restaurants, I'll say that Prime Tavern is in my top third, primarily due to the nice ambiance. Order using an iPad makes life a breeze. *Remember to sanitize/wash your hands after using any restaurant's iPad ordering system.* For my breakfast, I went with the Canadian bacon & cheese omelet plus a side of sausage. Also, for me, no preflight breakfast is complete without a Bloody Mary. Overall, the meal was fine although the omelet was prepared with that liquid egg stuff. For the ordering system, you have an option to add a breakfast cocktail. For whatever reason, the price of the add-on cocktail was more than ordering a stand alone cocktail. I think the stand alone Bloody was about $16 and add-on was about $18. So, be sure to double check the prices. My server was pretty nice and the food came out fast (maybe too fast ). read more

My experience here was well beyond three stars. Probably the best "airport food" I've ever had. I had the dry aged steak sandwich with grilled onions and chili aioli. It came with some refreshing greens in a light dressing and some crispy, hot fries. The steak was well seasoned and grilled perfectly, the ciabatta bread was toasted and crunchy. It was very satisfying! I also had some tasty cocktails. I had a Paloma with fizzy grapefruit soda, a pineapple rosemary margarita (my favorite and not too sweet), and a mezcal mule. All the cocktails were great, and I will try more from the menu when I return. The menu is expansive, with steaks, sandwiches, salads, wine, and cocktails. The digs are swanky, hip, and the playlist is fun and relaxing. Yes, it's expensive. For my sandwich, salad, fries, and three drinks (as well as tip and 10% covid recovery fee), it was around 125 dollars. Burrata was good, bread great, chicken overcooked and dry, wine selection good but overpriced. Sat for 10 mins waiting for anyone to come check on me in a half empty restaurant. Ordered through QR app. Three people next to me decided not to wait- kicker was seeing the wait staff pulled into a meeting or maybe gossip session? Meanwhile the bartender worked his tail off. Had a red-eye out and needed it something to fill my belly. Other places in the terminal didn't serve breakfast until after 5, so this is where my friend and I ended up. We were greeted right away and we were able to sit where we wanted. We chose to sit near the open kitchen. Anyway, there isn't much interaction with servers as you order off an iPad, submit your order on the iPad and pay...on the iPad. Technology at it's best. I ordered the egg breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs any style with choice of meat and potatoes. You were able to sub the potatoes for fruit for a $2.50 upcharge. The meal was very tasty. Eggs and potatoes had great flavor. Bacon was nice and crispy. I just wish there would have an option to get my bacon "well done" on the iPad. Being that we were at the airport, it was pricey. It cost over $20 including tax and tip. I can't really speak about the service as there isn't any service being done. We sent them back and the idiot waiter takes my plate and leaves me with a sandwich dripping all over the table. He disappears without bringing another plate and I cannot eat without dripping mayo all over my top. Finally he comes back with more fries that were hot and crisp but still almost black from being reheated a second, third or fourth time. The problem I have is that we had already tipped 20% at the BEGINNING of our order and had no other recourse to be reimbursed for the awful service we received. I say this all the time but it bears repeating: You can either treat your customers fairly and respectfully and get repeat business or you can ignore them and they will never come back and you will eventually be out of business. Considering my options in transit... I was thrilled to have discovered this place enroute to my gate. Then I was a bit apprehensive when I saw the ratings. When my food came, I was confused. My ribeye was cooked spot on medium rare as I adore with a serious char that only comes from fierce heat for a medium rare steak. It was seasoned well and I enjoyed it as is. The green peppercorn sauce was good, but a bit saltier than I prefer--yes, I tend to undersalt my food. The watercress added some vibrant edgy contrast to the juicy and fatty prime steak. The fries were perfect. Served with a tub of ketchup. Water was offered without request as I selected my order on the tablet--uber efficient. I even tracked my flight with updates on the device so I could eat with assurance that I was not missing anything. My glass was refilled mid meal and again when my plate was cleared--without request. The servers were quick to deliver food, refill and clear tables. I would have liked the servers to scan the room more so I could have requested more ketchup for example. The chefs turned and burned elegantly in the open kitchen. But it was the man in the kitchen with the blazer who organized plates to order before releasing them to the servers who impressed me the most. He was meticulous and kept the orders churning out correctly--unapologetically reorganizing several orders until it was right before it was taken away. No, it was not inexpensive. But given the service, quality of food delivered, and the fact that I had a prime steak enroute to my gate... priceless. read more

I never leave reviews but feel obligated to inform others what this restaurant is. I had to seat myself. The iPad menu was out of battery, when I asked for a regular menu they simply said they don't have one. I had to go get my own water, literally poured it myself. I grabbed ketchup from the bar for my fries. Basically there is NO service. At all. My sandwich had a really weird fishy taste to it. It was disgusting and I was gagging. Id recommend saving the $50 and just getting a to-go sandwich nextdoor. I feel violated for even coming into this restaurant it's so bad lol. read more

Place is nice but kinda loud. Food is pricy and not great. Customer service is okay. My biggest pet peeve was when I tried to order a beer on the iPad they make you use, and they had a draft beer category, but it was empty when I opened it. I was told they don't do draft beer, even though there's a couple dozen taps right in front of me. I asked why and the lady just repeated herself, "we don't serve draft beer". The food was okay. I ordered the turkey club with bacon. The menu said it was toasted but it was definitely a pressed sandwich. Everything inside was a little too warm and the bread was rock hard. It was all really expensive so I was a little surprised by not getting a dish that I feel should have felt higher in quality. Customer service is okay. I walked in to get a seat at the bar but a waitress told me to check in with the host first but there was no one at the front. On company expenses so I really can't over do it. $50 for a Kobe burger with salad and an inexpensive Bordeaux wine and the setting has a plastic knife!!?!! Okay yes due to security no metal knives but there are metal forks! Burger was good but not worth $24 very bland. It was made to medium which is usually difficult to get for some reason. Salad was good but just lettuce and no choice of dressing. The most appealing is the atmosphere. Takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the airport. I actually just giggled reading some of the reviews for this place (no disrespect, Yelpers), but let's level set: 1) we are in an airport 2) we are in NYC 3) did I mention we are in an airport? If you want food that is fresh, organic & doesn't taste like airport food (cough: microwaved eggs and stale muffins), this is definitely where you should come. Yes, it's more expensive. Yes, there are iPads everywhere, but it's really nice to be able to grab a fresh, custom egg white omelette before hopping on a flight. You pay in advance, food comes out quickly, and if you're in no rush, you can easily sit for hours, work on your computer, and charge your devices. This is my favorite spot to sit for breakfast in the morning while traveling for work. The manager is super friendly and came to introduce himself when he got a notification that I added a photo. As far as airport food goes, I had a great meal. I wouldn't call this five stars on the street, but in an airport, this is a great choice. You are paying premium airport prices, but the food was good. I got a burger and fries, simple enough. It was above average compared to fast casual type dining. The atmosphere was a nice break from the airport. My food came up quickly and appropriately prepared. Would happily stop here again next time I'm at LGA. A word about the app, which is efficient and convenient but awkward at first use. If you need a glass of water, order it through the app on the attached iPad. It will be $0.00. It's a little counter intuitive ordering through an app anytime you need something. You can also request help/attention through the app. Everything I ordered came up quickly. read more

I ordered the mushroom risotto while waiting for my flight with a friend. It was rather pricey as expected of airport food (around 40$ with a coke). The food arrived rather quickly after I ordered from the kiosk (it took maybe 30~ minutes). The server provided quick service and gave us out water soon after we sat down. The risotto looked great, and tasted good for a restaurant in an airport. The rice was undercooked resulting in a less creamy consistency than most risotto should be. The flavor profile was quite nice though, good amount of cheese and mushroom. All ingredients tasted fresh. Had the rice been cooked more thoroughly I probably would have given Prime one more star. It's also nice that the kiosks keep track of your flight time for you once you punch it in. If you're looking for a nice place for lunch/dinner before your flight and aren't concerned with $$$, prime's a good place to check in. read more

How I hate airport food. This semi-new concept of ordering from an iPad and never speaking to anyone is so less than ideal. I visited on a Monday morning at about 6:30 am and it was 1/4 full at best. I sat down and waited over 10 minutes for water. I only got the water since I asked, nobody was going to bring it to me on their own. I ordered an omelette with only cheese, no meat, and it cost $14.50. I feel like no matter where you go in LGA, the good is plain and the same everywhere, delivered by Cibo. Food here does come out quickly, and I waited no more than 5-10 minutes. My omelette was fine, nothing special and not worth $14.50. I hate their home fries, if you could call them that. They are clearly frozen and low quality. All in all, overpriced food and zero staff interaction. Unless you need a place to sit, grab food to go and save a few bucks. read more

Why do we all rate airport restaurants so low? Are we in a bad mood when we experience them? Upset that we didn't grab something before heading out of the city? I can't quite figure it out and the low rating of every. single. one. It practically makes it impossible to choose from one based on the ratings. This was one of the first restaurants after surviving the Delta check point. I initially only planned to stop in for a drink or two, but while I sat there at the bar area and watching the several items being prepared at the nearby grill area, I decided to flip through the iPad menu and order something myself. I settled on the turkey BLT and upgraded to add a side of fries, which was an extra $2. The sandwich was pretty big, with avocado, turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato. The service was a little lacking. I sat with my water not refilled from the time that I ordered my sandwich. Overall, I'd recommend it and stop back in if I had it to do over again. read more
