The value/price placed on free donated items should be priced at a fair market value. Consistent and reasonable. But on multiple occasions brand new items with their original tag still attached, are being marked up higher than they were originally sold for. This thrifts store is a FOR PROFIT thrift that has NO connection to Amvets which many believe it does. It claims it donates to Amvets and other charities. The management (I spoke to Wilson at their Baltimore store) sounds sleazy. The store is dishonest and refuses to honor returns which are within their return policy. As someone who has shopped at their laurel location, I can say that they are not be entertained. read more

One of my favorite thrift store chains. There used to be one close to me but it closed so I didn't not get to their stores occasionally.

this is by far one of my favorite value village stores. they have a pretty good selection and a variety of pieces. i've found so many gems here. the only thing i don't particularly like is the prices. for a true thrift store they are on the more expensive side, especially for name brands. there's a loyalty program that they offer here which may get you a couple dollars off here and there but nothing major. the service is good as well, everybody is typically very polite and helpful. read more

Solid thrift store. One of the few thrift stores where I can find clothes and unique furniture. I've found mirrors, paintings, fixtures and so much more here. I've bought brand new jackets from this location on several occasions. Always a variety of brand names such as Old Navy, Loft, Ann Taylor, etc. I find a lot of my work clothes here and shopping for an appropriate corporate America wardrobe that's in style can get expensive. I give this place 3.5 stars. This thrift store is bigger than your average one. There's 2 floors, the ground level is dedicated to men's clothing/shoes, glassware, kitchenware, miscellaneous items, books, kids' clothing/shoes, toys, and furniture. The second floor is dedicated solely to women's clothing/shoes & jewelry. There are daily deals involving the color of price tags. For example: pink & blue price tags may be discounted at 50% off. There are several different color tags (ex: green, yellow, blue, pink, etc.). This thrift store doesn't staple their price tags anymore, they're secured on just like other tags in clothing stores....with the thin plastic thread punched through. Compared to other thrift stores I've shopped at, this place is pricier but it's not too bad. The most expensive item I've purchased here was a dress for $10. The women's blouses/tops are usually priced around $5. I've found many nice clothing brands like: Loft, Express, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Under Armor, Abercrombie & Fitch, and etc. I suggest you spend at least an hour here to browse to find something you like. Kudos to Myk and his store team! I traveled the 2 miles from my hotel to Value Village while in town for a conference. Many thrift stores were listed on YELP for this geographic area near the East bay but I chose Value Village because it had high ratings/reviews & it was open late (till 9pm). This last element was important since I was in workshops until late today. After a rather long sweaty walk to the store (I'd convinced myself I needed the exercise & that I'd taxi back), I arrived and was greeted quite cheerfully by Myk upon my entering the store. Myk later introduced himself & welcomed me again. Because my phone was low on power, I limited my search for treasures to about 20 minutes or so which of course is never enough for a thrift shark like me! I focused on the dresses since time was limited. After going through about half the rack I found a few prospects including a Talbots dress, a Max Studio dress, & lands end polo style dress. I passed on trying on & settled on a cute swing style sleeveless paisley dress with contemporary still in style look. I swear I saw something very similar at Desigual (for well over $150) which is a Spanish designer label generally found at the Detroit metro airport. My cost? A little less than $6 for the dress & another $5 for a pair of Under Armour pjs for my youngest. Thanks to Myk's kindness & friendly first time visit discount, My cross country thrift adventure didn't cost me much at all. This store is a GEM. read more

This place has that typical musty smell to it, but let's be honest. To us thrifters, it's like the smell of gold. Does gold even have a smell? I digress. Their layout is kept tidy and organized. There's plenty of stuff to look through, as they pack it all in there. There are two floors, the bottom consisting of men's, children's, furniture, and odds & ends. The top consisting of women's clothing and shoes, as well as 2 small dressing rooms. I've found some serious gems in this place, so I'm torn on whether to say "come here!" or "stay away!". I want the business to continue, but I want everything cool for myself. But I'd much rather you support the place so I can continue to shop here, so what are you waiting for? It's no secret that I like thrift stores - sometimes you can find the most amazing bargains ever in a secondhand shop. This Value Village, smack in the middle of Highlandtown, is a fabulous find with, what else, amazing bargains! This place is a lot larger than the average thrift shop - there's two floors, one devoted strictly to women's clothing, the others to men's clothing, electronics, furniture and books. I wouldn't much bother with the electronics (not really something you should pick out in a thrift store anyway, as it's most likely obsolete and has a good possibility of not working in the first place), or the furnishings - for clothing, though, it's a treasure trove of good stuff. Most things were priced fairly - the average clothing item is about 4 to 7 dollars, depending on the size and the condition. Lots of kids' clothes here, as well, if you're in the market for this. Everything is quite clean and well-organized. I once picked up a (real!!!) Dooney and Bourke handbag in good condition here, a "last year's" model that was still retailing online for over 300 dollars. Price? Eight dollars and ninety-eight cents. Can't beat THAT. There's no stigma when it comes to saving money, and Value Village is perfect for that. If you enjoy thrift shopping, this store is hard to pass up. You can thank me later. read more

Standard thrift store fare with packed racks for pack rats! My friend found a great "Blossomy" hat there! My only suggestion is to stop stapling the shoes together! They staple shoes together so that they don't lose their sole mate, but what ends up happening is that I only end up trying on one shoe (thereby breaking cardinal rule #1 of buying second-hand shoes to try on BOTH shoes) and I didn't find out that the other one didn't fit until I got home and took the staple remover to them. Like all thrift stores, the merchandise varies according to the day. However, this Value Village location is always organized with a smiling, helpful staff. On top of that -- this location is dedicated to its local community. Last winter this store donated over one hundred coats to Highlandtown Elementary/Middle School #237. This place has never let me down in the ugly sweater, or themed party department. Stopped in for an ugly sweater around the holidays and both my fiancé and I got something good. Then we stopped in mid February looking for an 80's outfit and found the most perfect windbreaker jumpsuit set for $9. I visited back in August 2016 visiting from Charlotte, NC & I had a great experience! I loved that the store was organized and every associate that I encountered was personable and helpful! There were great tag sales and I found some cool art for $7 a piece, which was a steal. Each section had lots of quality items to look through that were organized well by size. The clothing is over priced. The customer service is bad. Items have been donated. They price items like you are shopping at Sears or JC Penney. I work at a shelter for homeless females. I use to take my clients to Value village all the time. Quiet and peaceful place to shop with lots of stuff and they even have a second floor you can take the elevator up or steps if you prefer. Polite and nice employees. They have section for kitchenware, section for furniture, children stuffed animals/toys and books, games for pc, and even tvs etc. I've bought clothes, and pc games here. Very nice store.
