The store is small, but it is PACKED with games, cards and some old toys from the 80's on. It becomes a journey looking through the treasure trove of old and new items. For the newer items they are sold at or near major retail price. I have been in other smaller stores and they have to increase the prices heavily to make up for the obscene property taxes. I was happy to see the older things weren't ridiculously priced either. I left with two boxes of Pokemon cards, a set of original Spider-Man movie cards, a board game, a dragon pin, and a random Dungeons and Dragons themed bag that when I opened it, it contained a yellow and red bag, rainbow dice and a coin for Inspiration. I am also a child, so I love to browse and buy the occasional trinket or toy. The old location was a little small and tucked away in a relatively crowded strip mall on the bustling intersection of Hall Rd and Hayes. The drive there was frustrating enough to limit my appearances there. They have since moved to a new location...terrifyingly close by. Now it's super convenient to visit the new store. The strip mall they moved to is much less busy and the location is way easier to spot from Van Dyke. The interior of the store is jam packed with lots of collectibles. They have a variety of wrestling, GI Joe, Star Wars and Funko Pops to name a few things. There's so much more there too (like superhero themed comic books). With as much stuff as Funky Town Toys has, the inside of the store is quite clean and spacious. It's always a pleasure to walk around and look at all of the potential money I can spend on stuff! If you're into old and new action figures and collectibles, you should take a stroll into Funky Town Toys. There's lots to choose from...and if you're looking for something in particular...just ask and they will talk with you...and maybe they can find something for you. Seriously...I love this place. The product selection is solid, especially for a relatively new shop, and has regularly expanded in the time I've been a customer. Something I value in particular is their pricing, as I have yet to see anything marked up much more than MP/MSRP. They put the customer above profit margins and don't participate in price-hiking based on scarcity/hype surrounding new products and in extreme cases will impose purchase limits on very limited product releases to ensure as many of their customers as possible can get their hands on a piece. They're truly advocates of the hobbyists and do their part not to enable the product scalping and gatekeeping, inarguably the biggest detriment to collectible hobbies. I can't say enough good about this place, if you're into TCGs, sports cards, tabletop gaming, etc. and want a great customer experience, pop into BLK MKT Cards and I'm sure you'll become a regular too.

I'd look around at all of the boxed toys and think it was a waste of money. The Detroit News even ran an article about him and his collection. I'm sure my friend's dad is having the last laugh because one of the figures that I know he had sold at Toys R Us for $2.95 is now sold for $1500.

The owner Deb, and Vanessa who also works there are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The shop has a lot of charm with cozy chairs tucked into corners where you can sit and look through books. Their goal is to support other local small businesses by stocking their products. They display local artists works on the walls for sale as well. They carry a large assortment of adult and children's books, as well as gift items and puzzles. I try to make a point of stopping by at least once a week because there is always something new in the store. They are constantly rearranging displays and making room for new stock so you'll always find new things. If they don't have the book in stock, they are happy to try to order it for you. They schedule author book signing events, and other fun themed activities. They also have a Libro.fm link that you can purchase audiobooks from that helps support them and also other independent booksellers. Make it a point to stop by and visit this store.
