I am glad that I have found him for my extensive oral surgery needs. The office personnel and staff are awesome and really helpful in settling my anxiety. They are friendly and supportive and professional. This was my 1st visit for a consultation and treatment plan. I had an appointment in a day to take a look, ex-ray and so on. I was given an appointment for the next day for a not so easy extraction. The extraction was easy for Dr. Elson though! Dr. Elson is the man if you need a somewhat difficult to extraction, a tooth removed. The staff from the receptionist on is exceptional. A great team from the Doc on down!

I was so nervous as it was my first time being put under anesthesia and Dr. Hartman and his staff were fantastic. I don't even remember the "count from ten" moment (I don't think there was one), and woke up before I knew it. I kept telling my boyfriend that I was feeling like a rockstar when I woke up thank you thank you so much Dr Hartman and staff, four days post op, never felt any pain on the top two and just a little soreness on the bottom.

I have severe anxiety about dentists, and generally even a cleaning causes me a great deal of…read moretrauma I need time to recover from. I needed a tooth extracted. I knew it would be difficult. I made the appointment and was asked if I wanted two appts - one with a consultation and one with the extraction. Well of course I didn't want TWO appts, I just wanted to get it done. I did not get a consultation, but when I asked the receptionist why it would be needed, she said "You know to discuss what is needed for your tooth." Well they had an Xray from another dentist. Seemed a waste of time to me. I told them about the anxiety when I made the appt ("I have extreme anxiety, so I may need addtl support during this"), I told them when I showed up (I have anxiety, I need whatever you can provide to make this easier). I told the nurse. I told the doctor. I told everyone who would listen I needed as much support as they had. Everyone nodded. There was no nitrous, no offer of sedation, no additional support beyond "we can numb you longer" which, bless them, is not really helpful when you have severe anxiety. I cried while they extracted it, but I held very very still while crying, except for the trembling, because my childhood taught me to be still during traumatic moments when I am being hurt. There were no blankets offered, no headphones available, no tvs, no distraction. Nothing at all really. Just me in a freezing cold room having trauma done to me. Does it make it any better that my insurance paid for it? Not really. I like to think Dr Castaneda would have offered nitrous or additional supports if they were available to the practice. I would have paid for any of it, no question - we could have afforded it. So clearly they just...don't? Which is awful, really. Not even one sad faded poster on the ceiling for me to stare at instead of a bright light. We are full time nomads. I saw a gyno in Austin, TX who had nitrous for the anxious. Too bad they didn't offer dental work. Spent the evening sobbing and being held. Thanks for the trauma. Will bring it to my therapist next time we meet. (three stars were for getting the tooth out, I suppose, which needed to happen, but holy crap is this going to take time to process)

The staff was so nice. I wasn't nervous at all. From the check in to paying my co pay. Everyone was amazing. I had the woman dentist- forgot her name, her and the 2 assistants were amazing and I felt nothing at all. I hope I don't need to go back but they're awesome I do need to!!!

My son came out of his appointment for the final portion and said I don't think the guy knew what he was doing at all. Prior to the last procedure both my wife and myself spoke with the office to ensure that we would not need any adjustment to his retainer after the procedure, while we waited for the next steps. Both people we spoke with assured us he would be fine. We were NOT fine. His retainer DID NOT fit and we were basically told "too bad". My son is a teenager and they essentially told us he was fine to be missing two front teeth for over a month. He spent his entire school vacation in his room until we were able to contact his orthodontist to fix his retainer. If they had told us the truth from the onset we would have had the retainer fixed that same day. After all that, we decided NOT to use the office they recommended for his teeth, and we were shocked (well not really) that the East Bay put in healing caps that were too small AND one of the implants was crooked! Thankfully the office we used took care of both issues. But when they called East Bay they were also shocked at how rude the lady on the phone was. Stay AWAY from this place!!! Not recommended at all.

Terrible terrible office. I feel like I was scammed…read more This office is scammy and rude. I had a cleaning and full exam in the previous city I lived (Tampa) in June, which I shared. I was told that the office here likes to do their own X-Rays for new patients, which we did, and I assumed it would be billed as something other than standard annual X-Rays. They didn't think to tell me I was going to have to pay entirely out of pocket for them, or that they hadn't yet received the X-Rays from my prior office, despite me filling out a form that asked for my last cleaning and me mentioning while in the exam chair about when I had X-Rays done in June. I saw earlier this month that I was charged $100 because insurance of course only covers one standard annual X-ray per year. When I spoke to whoever answered the phone, they hadn't received the EOB from Cigna yet so I called back a few weeks later and the woman was incredibly rude and unhelpful. She kept repeating herself over and over. As a side note: the fluoride treatment is somewhere around $60 and takes 15 seconds. Everywhere else I've been has been around $20. Place feels like one big scam.
