Bottom line, I would not recommend using Mike Lynch for a home loan. The following is my own…read morepersonal opinion based on dealings with Mike Lynch. With the Lynch team you get all the negatives of an online loan machine, without any of the benefits of a hometown provider. My first red flag should have been when Mike's avoidance to written communication. He tried to do all correspondence by phone and it didn't make sense why, until later in the process. In the past, I have used lenders in several states for several real estate deals so I have a fair understanding of good quality mortgage brokers and sub-standard mortgage brokers. We had several real estate deals in process with the Lynch Team before finally closing a deal on a house in Anderson. It was out of my own laziness that I didn't listen to the red flags and move on after the first failed deal. On more than one occasion Mike locked interest rates without consent from me. In one instance, he said he locked them because he thought that they were good. He told me that he would float them down if they went lower. The rates went lower and then he then proceeded to try and charge me to float them down. That would have been fine with me if I had been the one to instruct him to lock them in the first place. As the process unfolded, it made perfect sense to me why he didn't want to email and text. Communication was another huge shortcoming with the Lynch team. Again, written correspondence would have made things 100% better. There were several times I had asked Mike for rate updates and had gotten no response. Several times Mike had sent pre-approval letters without consulting with me on the amount. Mike had gotten my loan amount and numbers wrong during conversations and on the preliminary documentation. On one occasion Mike texted me at 8:30 PM requesting documentation for underwriting and then when I texted him back requesting the link for upload he didn't respond. He indicated in the text that it was urgent so I had to wake my wife up and have her find the link in her emails. It was my perception that Mike is arrogant and spends more energy making excuses for shortcomings than just fixing the issue. I believe he is more interested in serving his "investors" and the realtors than the buyer. Do yourself a favor and find a lender who can 1. Be available, 2. Communicate, and 3. Have integrity. The Lynch team fails at all three of those items.
