I live on the north end (literally the final street north) of Vegas. I am always look for courses that aren't smothered with houses on both sides. I'd rather not worry about a bad shot costing me money on the rare chances they happen. Desert winds can turn a bad shot to a costly shot quickly. I arrived about 30 minutes before our tee time and was greeted at the bag drop with a very nice gentleman. He let us know right away we weren't being stuck with another two some ( always a plus in my book). The pro shop worker was polite as well. We were sent off a little early so we could keep up with a foursome. The drink cart was only by once in the round....however we were prepared with water and sports drinks so we didn't mind at all. Can't ask for much more as far as service goes. The Lakes Course is my new favorite course in Las Vegas. Fairways are forgiving to the guy that likes to relax once a week without searching for their balls. Bunkers and water make them tricky enough to where you really need to plan ahead though. Every hole is a new challenge. Pin placement is Huge on these greens!!! Some of the trickiest putts i've encountered. Greens were in great shape by the way. If i remember right there are only 2 par 5's. You better hit the green on par 3's or the bunkers will eat you alive. I used to think Paiute had the nicest course for the money...This one now moves to the top of my list. I should have given it a one star so no one will find out about this gem:) It's an hour drive from my house that i'll gladly do again. read more

This is the second time we've been to Primm Valley. We have read some of the poor reviews. We thought the course was in good shape. Greens were fair. Price was okay. Staff was approachable and friendly. We enjoyed our day and plan to be back. This place does have a feel that it's not making money and may go under. Free range balls and it's set up like a pyramid! love this golf course! I had brought my boyfriend here for his birthday... he was blown away. The whole staff was extremely nice and welcoming. Not to mention the course was in good shape, but it was a bit challenging. I ran out of balls and I had two holes left. It's prob me not the course though haha but overall great experience ! Came for breakfast and bloody Mary's on a quiet Sunday morning. Sat in the outside deck and enjoyed the sun and peaceful view of the golf course. The bloody Mary's were excellent as was the breakfast burrito. Service was fast and friendly too. A nice drive from busy Las Vegas to the serene tranquility of Primm Valley. read more

Played Lakes course 5/5. Pace of play was outstanding. course seems a little dry for this time of year. It's in decent shape overall but I have seen it in better condition. The south range was closed but north was open and well stocked with range balls. Restaurant service was very slow and only saw a beer cart one time. I really enjoy this track. read more

The Lakes course is the original course and is one of my favorites in the greater Las Vegas area. The course is forgiving yet challenging. Greens were pretty fast and are usually in very good shape. Locals get a good break on green fees. read more

Mark, is awesome. Super nice and friendly and 100% professional. The starter was great as well. I saw the cart girl go around about twice which is great. I played the desert course. Great condition. Sorry, wonderful. Payed 55. The fairways are well kept (players need to fill their divots though) and the greens broke just the way they shouldn. I love the greens here. I get tons of check shots to just sit next to the hole (but players need to FIX THEIR DIVOTS!) The carts have GPS, but when it tells you to "club up, or down" don't. Hit 8 iron 172 yards? Yeah, I wish. Even with the rain and wind, this course is a beauty. Very attendant staff and I swear this place feels like a country club. I'm a golfer from L.A btw and I'm a 12 handicap. If I'm ever in the area I will be back. The practice facility IS GRASS! Don't second guess yourself, you'll love this place! read more

ZERO STARS!! Never ever going back to this place. I understand they are under new management but they need to seriously review their pro shop staff service and policies. I asked this past saturday for a nine hole rate, standard at any golf course nationwide. Was flatly told no. I was only able to get in 3 holes and asked for a ride back to the clubhouse to leave. Lisa, who was fantastic and apologetic, suggested i ask for a rain check or even a refund. Went in and again, all the guy said was no. I mean, $70 for 3 1/2 holes at Primm!!!! Both courses are great! Dessert is definitely tougher than the lakes course. Greens look crazy but roll true. Would have given it 5 stars but the older gentleman at cart return was extremely rude and pretty much an a-hole... Been coming here for the last 10 years. Gotta admit, last year the courses were in poor shape. The bunkers were dirt and full of weeds. Was told last year that there was new management and that good changes were coming. They were right. Courses were almost back to their glorious selves. Water features were on the recovery and the courses were in great shape. These courses are loaded with character and memorable. read more

Primm Valley Golf Course - Lakes 15 with the searing solar tower in the distance - Golf Near Me - Nipton, California

Played the Primm Lakes course on a Friday afternoon and really enjoyed the layout and condition. Surprisingly, this tree lined course is dropped right out in the middle of the desert about 45 minutes from Las Vegas. This is my friend's home course. He mentioned the ground crew has recently made a concerted effort to remove many of the water reeds to expose several beautiful and long time covered waterfalls. This course isn't difficult, its fair, and allows play from fairway to fairway. The day was extremely windy, so learn how to play a knock down shot. I would definitely return. read more

We have been golfing at Primm since the course opened and played the Lakes Course while the Desert Course was being constructed. They used to have cross cut fairways that looked like you were playing on a baseball field and pristine greens that made you feel like you were putting on carpet. We had a tee time on the Desert Course and were told that a large tournament had booked and gotten so big they had to move us to the Lakes Course. No problem but the course had been over seeded and greens punched about three weeks ago per the staff. The course had several different grasses and weeds that had invaded the fairways, and the greens had lots of dry spots where the grass was not even growing. We played other courses this week in Vegas who had done their maintenance at about the same time and their fairways and greens, though not 100% yet, were very green, filled in and playable. The greens were nice and rolled well instead of bumping along all the dead dry spots. There were no carts available to guests not in the tournament and the staff had a bad time getting carts to those guests moved to the Lakes Course. We waited over an hour past our tee time to tee off and we did so without carts. We were told that it would be another 40 minutes before we got carts for our group. There were many carts in the cart barn but the staff stated that they were in various states of disrepair and are not maintained properly. We opted to tee off and start walking the course carrying our own bags until such time that staff could bring us carts. We walked almost the entire front nine before we even found water to drink and the carts arrived for us to play the back nine. Upon completing our round, we went into the Pro Shop to speak with the manager to advise him that what we experienced was unacceptable. His first words were " You guys don't look to worse for the wear"! Really, not I'm so sorry gentlemen, this is not how we do business at Primm and I would like to refund your green fees for your inconvenience. Instead we got, "I'm sorry, I don't have the authority to do that for you"! With that, he gave us the card of the MGM managing supervisor of golf and told us to call him to complain and see what he could do for us. We just threw his card away knowing that he probably would not care about our complaints like his employees. The most we figured he could do for us was comp a round of golf at a future date but we are not going to drive in from L.A for a round of golf at Primm. Who appoints a manager of a facility and does not give him authority to mitigate issues with their guests? We used to recommend Primm to our friends and associates as a great place to stop and play on their way into Vegas. They used to be a first class resort but in my opinion have gone from first to worse. We will tell our friends and associates to stay away from Primm, it's not worth the drive anymore. read more

9:30 tee time. Course of play should be decent. A 5 ball was ahead of us and was two holes behind and ended up being a 5:30 round. We made two calls to management and they did nothing. Worthless management and waste of labor if they can't get the balls to say anything. Frustrating because I use to play this track all of the time and not what it used to be. The course is run down and lean on labor. Not worth the drive if you are coming from Vegas. read more

My buddies and I have been playing this course since it opened, 20 years?. Yesterday we played on our way into Vegas. While the condition of the course has gone downhill a bit, it's till a decent layout and price. When we finished we discovered our car, SUV, had been broken into and all our luggage was stolen, probably not even 100 yards from the entrance of the building. I'm not saying this is an inside job, but if you're familiar, this place is in the middle of nowhere and the thought of thieves exiting the 15 and scoping out the parking lot of a golf course seems thin. Management did vacuum our car of broken glass and comped a few drinks, but it's still the last time for us. Beware that if you're coming in from LA, park in front or even rent a locker if your luggage can be seen. We lost money, computers, everything 4 guys would take to Vegas on a 3 day weekend. We played the Desert Course. The good news is that the layout is excellent and employees are helpful, other than Pro Shop. However, the following were noted. Most significant is that this course is in an arid climate. They do not have water on the course and do not have cart persons. Thus, by the last few holes I was dehydrated, not healthy for anyone. I told the pro shop individual on duty at the end of the round who said yes, there is no water on the course and no cart persons. He then said what could they do to make a better experience. I said water and he said I should have called the the pro shop from the course for water. Nice response!! Also, the course is not well maintained. A number of rakes for the bunkers we used were broken and plastic shards were sticking out. Luckily none of us got a fiberglass splinter when lifting. The bunkers were in bad repair and there were bad lies in the rough and the fairway. Far from a pristine or good course. read more

I golf here once a year and really love these 2 courses. Played here over the weekend and threw out my back the first day(I always hit too many free balls when I get here, this time I didn't stretch, dumbassme... Was gonna play 3 days, only played 2 , but got to see both courses. First, let me school ya, these are Tom Fazio Designed courses and they are no piece of cake, even with a great drive you can still end up hitting out of the desert...That said both courses were in pretty good shape and were both tough but fun.. Desert Course is a little longer and you can hit out of the desert.. Tilted fairways and raised greens make it exhilirating.. Lakes course a bit shorter, but the water does come into play on most holes, requiring shorter clubs off the tee. Staff is friendly and very helpful and there aren't better people than Donna, working the 19th hole. Great pro-shop with logo Tommy Bahama stuff and more. You will definitely enjoy yourself, didn't get 5 stars only because I've seen the course in better shape. read more

Had a tee time here today, and was completely disappointed. I have played both courses out here more than 100 times. I loved these courses! Not anymore! This is not the course it used to be, first off the place screams dry. From the trees to the fairways and the greens. I will not go back for a while, If ever? Not a good look Primm valley golf club! Just close the course completely instead of disappointing all your guests. I should have known this place was a disaster since there were no cars in the parking lot. Not a fan. After visiting last week, i will not be coming back. The rate is ridiculous and me and my uncle paid the full non-resident rate. After seeing people in front of us paying 25 dollars and getting free golf balls,(realized it was for residents) we will never set foot again. One of the guys in my group said they never check the id and it is unfair that someone from ny can say they are a resident. Things were worse with pace of play. It was over 5 hours which is absurd for 18 holes. We called the shop and they said they would send a starter. After calling them 25 min later, they guys in the shop were rude and extremely aggressive. Who else would i call if i cant call the shop? I would be not going here and spending my money somewhere else. I cant wait to tell my friends and family about this place, what a joke. read more

This rating is purely for the customer service at the course. Some friends and I booked a tee time at primm a few weekends ago, but low and behold, when I went to check in, we found out that my friend had booked on the wrong day. So here we are, from out of state, trying to get a round in on a weekend with no tee time. Big bummer. I explained the situation to the guy in the shop, who told me to talk with the starter and see if they can squeeze us out there. We did just that, and the starter assured us that he could probably get us out at our original tee time and he would come find us when we could. We went to warm up, and not much later they came to find us and got us out. We ended up playing the lake course and the icing on the cake was that we finished our round in 4 hours! I can't even remember the last time I got 18 done in 4 hours. It was incredible. The fact that the staff even tried to get us out on the course during a busy weekend and actually made it happen was phenomenal. The staff was so kind and helpful from the pro shop, to the starter and the ladies in the restaurant. Thank you all! read more

I love these 2 courses... Best in Las Vegas,, at Tom Fazio designed course, same dude that did Shadow Creek.... Typical Fazio course... Hard to imagine from I 15 can be this great course.... I prefer the lakes course over the desert., but both are enjoyable.... The greens fees are a total bargain, especially in the summer.... I would spend friday night at Primm resort,, get up play 36 then head home, they offer a replay, when we did it they just said go ahead,, totally cool.... Played here 3-14-17 desert course, 3rd. time in last 6 months. We travel from Valparaiso,In. and Primm is always on our golf list. Greens were very fast this time, but consistent, some fairways were spotty but were starting to come back to life. Played Primm Valley's Desert Course on Friday 10/17/2014, We arrived at the course 5 minutes before our Tee Time, the staff was johnny on the spot, they did not complain about our late arrival and were very accomodating. The Birdie special was great, 2 drink tickets, 20 dollars in credit in the club house and a sleeve of golf balls. Great rate. I will not punish the course for condition, I come to Las Vegas multiple times every year, specifically for golf In October and know that most golf courses come out of overseeding in late september early october. The course had some issues with some thin spots but it was not unplayable. The greens were a bit slow, but they didn't hurt play any. The Desert Course at Primm is a well thought out Fazio track, I play from the Tips and the course is tough enough to test my abilities but not unfair that I can not score. I play with some high handicappers that also liked the layout and thought it hard but fair. It definietly is worth the 45 minute drive from Las Vegas to play. after you play stop at Buffalo Bill's on the way back and ride The Deperado if you dare. My only real compliant for the course is there is no drinkable water on the course other than the 2 bottles you start the round with. The cart girl is responsible for both courses and we saw her 2 times on the day. Which on hot humid day is rally unacceptable. PAR 4 should invest in water stations or another cart girl for the Lakes Course. They are missing out on revenue by not being able to provide drinks on the course and eventually someone is going to have a heat related issue on the course. I will not hesitate to return to Primm as the golf and the value make it a must. read more

The course was in perfect shape, staff was friendly, and the scenery was beautiful! This was one of the best golf courses I have ever played!However I would highly recommend never wasting your money at this club. On hole 14 our cart was starting to lose its power. What course gives their customers a cart that can't go 18 holes no problem? On top of all that we called the pro shop to have them bring us another cart and they said they would be right out. The cart never came! They lied right there over the phone! We had to play the rest of the round barely getting up all the hills. I even had to push the cart up one hole! How absurd is that?! This kind of service is unacceptable! Great deal for a scenic well manicured golf course tho. read more

Horrible fairways and greens. Pure dirt even on the so called lakes course. They had lawnmowers running up and down the course even while hitting. When complained to manager Rick, couldn't be bothered to stop his personal call. So many other choices for such a long drive. Once again, HORRIBLE!!! read more

I recently played the lakes course with my father. We were the 4th group to go out bee on tee times. It's January and there was a frost delay, no big deal they can't control the weather. To try and make up the time they started a few groups on the back nine, we were one of those groups. Everything was moving along until we got back to the 1st hole tee box. There was no starter to be found and the layer tee times had arrived. There were 5 groups on the hole at the same timeand It's there to direct anyone to the back nine. While we were waiting the almost 45 minutes to tee off i went into the clubhouse to get a drink and something to eat. There were 2 other guys in there already waiting. After being there for about 5 minutes with nobody behind the bar an employee walked by and asked if we had been helped yet and we all answered "no." She walked off like she was going to go get somebody but never returned. After waiting another 10 minutes I gave up and went back to the cart. We finally got to tee off for our second 9, but with all of the extra groups jammed out on the course it took 3 hours to finish the 9. The course has a good layout but was in terrible shape. The guy in the club house talked about what great shape the course was in. I'm not sure what course he was playing but it wasn't this one. I understand that it's winter and the conditions aren't going to be the same as in the spring but there were tons of bare spots on the fairways, little to no sand in the traps around the greens and clearly some diseased spots on some of the greens. I play a lot of golf on the Las Vegas area and can confidently say that this course currently has some of the worst conditions around. There are plenty of other courses in town that are in great shape that can be played for about the same price. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the time and gas of driving out to Primm and just play in Vegas. read more

If you're going to bump up your green fee's then get the courses (and the range!!) in WAY better shape! And put some sand in the bunkers! Also, what happened to the waterfalls?? What happened to the golf course?? The employee's are super nice, I feel sorry they have to hear all the complaints about the course! Management doesn't seem to care. Get the course back in shape then raise the rates!! I decided to play in town in the future why would I drive the extra miles for the same price & crappy greens?? Really? I don't even think the restaurant deserves ONE star but here goes. I went in to grab some food to go so I wouldn't be late for my tee time. Went to the bar and asked for a menu to order food. Bartender said wait a second and she'd be right with me. She came back a few minutes later and asked me what I wanted. Reminded her I needed a menu. She took her time placing my order since she was talking to the other blond bartender as they complained how tired they were from 30 min of sleep cause they went clubbing at light in Mandalay. Already more info than I should have known. Waited about 15 min for my food. When it was done the blond bartender put it in front of me and walked away. Rude, I was thinking, no ketchup, no napkins, no bag?? Finally asked for it and went on my way and highly annoyed she was so worried about her late night. Get some sleep and go home if you can't function enough to do your job! read more

It's an absolute shame that the new management company has an "I don't care attitude" about either the condition of the course or the player experience. Fasio's wonderful layout is the only good thing here but this author, who has been here4 times before and always loved it will never be back. read more

played the desert course this week, all i can say, i want to play there 100 more times. great facility, from when we arrived, the cart guys were very pleasant and efficient, getting us loaded up and out to the track. now the practice tee box was incredible, room for about 1000 people to hit balls. also the practice chipping and putting areas, just the best. these are 2 Tom Fazio designs, and i think they are some of his best work. the condition of the golf course was outstanding. nice undulation to the fairways, and the greens had some great little subtleties to them. we caught it with little wind but im sure it could be brutal. now for the short hitters the white tees would be great for you, for the longer hitters the blue tees are a great challenge, for the big hitters, go to the "ledge". there is more room out there than it looks. i look forward to playing there again, hopefully sooner than later. please fix your ball marks and sand your divots gh and once again, you sunflower seed spiting A-HOLES on tee boxes and greens.......DONT LET ME CATCH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These two golf courses are the most underrated golf courses I have played. Both designed by Tom Fazio, the No. 1 course designer in my book. The Desert Course is in my Top 10 of anywhere. What a hidden gem. One of the top overall golf facilities you will ever visit. read more
