I came here to get my hair and makeup done for graduation. My appointment started early which I liked as some places if you arrive early will make you sit and wait even if there's no one else getting service ahead of you. Dez took care of me and listened to my vision and she made the vision happen. I highly recommend them. I did the primp and blow which included makeup and added lashes and my total with tip was about $160. I do recommend getting the appointment about a few hours earlier then your event as it does take some time but trust the process and your going to turn heads. I just left their salon for a simple blowout. How can you screw up a blow out, I don't know, but this girl managed. I took the brush and tried to correct it but it was an epic fail. Having had thousands of blow drys in the past, I could tell by the way she was touching my hair that she did not have a clue. But, what really infuriates me is, she told me that she had been there 3 years. So, management definitely knows that she is incompetent and they allow her to continue working there. MARY HEADBERG doesn't know how to treat employees and will withhold your tips. I would caution before applying to this job. I encourage guests to find a personal stylist and stop supporting these types of businesses. They only pay employees between 10-13 an hour and the rest the stylist makes will be from tips. You will spend hours doing multiple clients back to back with no break. I wouldn't rely on this job to pay any bills. It's just a place to get faster at styling and leave. This is why the turnover rate is high. If I can warn one person about the truth I've done enough. I wish nothing but the closure of this sweatshop. read more

I booked an updo for a formal event and left with A disastrous hairstyle and complete embarrassment . The first hairstylist I sat down with did not know how to do an updo and needed to ask for assistance after trying on her own to even pin my hair up for the first 20 mins . She was obviously inexperienced and didn't even have the right tools or color Bobby pins for my hair. Who doesn't know that you can't put blond Bobby pins in dark brown hair?! The second stylist intervened and was having to instruct the first stylist how to do EVERYTHING. They took a full hour together to do my hair . I left with a sloppy hairstyle that was not something one should receive at a salon, if the professionals are actually trained . I asked for a polished look for a formal event and left with a frizzy, unpolished, unsymmetrical mess!! AND with extensions very obviously showing , not imbedded under my hair. That is COMPLETELY unacceptable. They literally just clipped my hair extensions ON TOP of my hair. It took me half an hour and 20 Bobby pins when I got home to hide the extensions in my own hair. I have never in my life had a trained hairstylist be so incapable of an updo , and I have had many . So disappointed. I absolutely should not have paid for the style I received , but they showed my the hairstyle in a dimly lit mirror and I was too distraught and already late by the time they finally finished to closely inspect my hair . I cannot emphasize enough DO NOT GO HERE. The manager Maureen will not return your call and part of the reason why the staff are so bad is obviously because of poor management. 1. Do not buy products if you think you may need to return them. The staff are not trained or able to return products. So one of the girls at the front desk called Maureen who told her to tell me to leave the product there and she would refund me two days later when she was back in the office. I said, that's not how refunds work. She then said she would try and refund it at home and couldn't do it. After waiting 30 MINUTES the front desk girl finally gave me cash. The worst part is I had called ahead of time to say I was coming to return something. The front desk girl should have told me only the manager can return products and the manager wasn't there. Why didn't she do that? BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE IS TERRIBLE. Can you imagine going to return something at Macy's and they say we can't process your return, no one knows how, just leave it here and someone will do it in a few days? That doesn't happen anywhere. Why? Because it is illegal, according to consumer protection laws. Do not give a product you've paid for to anyone unless they reimburse you for it and show proof that they have with a receipt if it's done through a card. 2. The woman who did my my hair, Nyela Sonora, is AWFUL. She got water all over my forehead and she could not blow dry my hair for volume. She did the rollers the wrong way on the top of my head and it was absolutely awful. She was also chewing and smacking gum while she was doing it, which is a violation of city health code. Can you imagine someone doing your hair who gets gum in it? She is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I filed a complaint with the city. I also asked the manager to call me back every day for a week and she refused to do so. The MANAGER IS AWFUL. I specifically came in to have my hair done for a photoshoot for work and had to cancel it because my hair was so awful. Another girl Sasha tried to fix my hair by putting all this stuff in the roots and teasing it with a comb that didn't create volume and only tangled my hair and the product made my hair feel like paste. It took me 3 SHAMPOOS at home to get the tangles out of my hair. If the photoshoot hadn't been scheduled with someone I knew I would have been charged the full amount for canceling it on the same day. Under any other circumstance I would have lost a lot of money and been forced to take Sonora and the manager to court to recoup my losses. On top of this I lost an entire day of work. I also lost an entire afternoon trying to return a product. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH--DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Initially started coming the first year they opened. Unfortunately their turn over rate and retention rate of stylist is low. Since coming there have been at least six different stylist. The manager nit picks with employees. Initially I thought employees only. As a buisness owner I have ignored it even though I have witnessed it on numerous occasions. Running a buisness of any kind is not easy. Manager is the sister of the owner. And I thought how cool and passionate she is. Family Buisness is the best. I was excited to patronize. As I recently started going with my daughters. I have received numerous comments that were inappropriate and offensive. Most recently it would be 20.00 extra to remove two braids. Then that evolved to two pig tails. Previously comment was made that African American hair takes longer. My daughters hair is a 4a curl pattern and curtly not coils. As location is super convenient and aesthetically nice. I said ok and have had no issue with paying extra for the flat iron. Ironically dry bar and other dry bars have round brushed straight and flat ironed in under an hour and half. My heritage is mixed with French, Spainish and Native American. So the comment based on our texture was beyond baffling. The manager text me today to clarify she would charge extra to comb it out and undo ponytails. I have loved dry bars for years. After living in multiple cities it has been a go to solution wherever I travel. Unfortunately the manager seems to miss the bar of customer service and Managment 101. I decided to book a hair and makeup session for a wedding I was going to the next evening - I made the appointment last minute and they were able to accommodate online the day prior. The salon is located in a complex on Buffalo Speedway with Kroger, European Wax Center, Kenny & Ziggy's, Bucca di Beppo, etc. so there is plenty of parking! I came in and my stylist was ready to greet me and offer me a drink (water, infused water, tea..). She started with my hair - she really listened to what I wanted and showed me pictures of what she was talking about. I liked what she did and it really held well for my evening wedding ~5 hours later. It held so well that it never really loosened up the whole night, which she was afraid of cause of the humidity so she curled it a bit tighter for that reason - so much for wanting loose waves but that's just my hair holding curls well =) and it being sprayed so well. She then moved me to the makeup area and did my makeup. She did an amazing job giving me what I wanted. A smokey eye with lots of contouring and highlights! Amazing! Cause I'm definitely a makeup noob. The makeup didn't budge all night with heat, dancing, sweat, etc. Tabatha aka Tabby was friendly and personable. They didn't try to oversell you any products and they even had a Mother's Day special for 5 services that didn't expire for like $160. Tempting!! I got a voicemail from the manager who said she saw my experience on Yelp and was sorry for my experience and she would be putting a $45 credit on my account to go back and do my makeup..... as I stated in the previous review, I will never be back. It's somewhat of a nice gesture, but what would have actually been nice is if she took my review seriously enough to refund me what I spent on even a portion of the services I paid for. Love this place! I'm a long time member at a competing blow dry salon, and I was very impressed when I first tried out Primp and Blow. Super nice atmosphere, free coffee and drinks. I've since had several blow outs here by different stylists and I've always been very pleased. My usual stylist is Tabby and she is so sweet and goes above and beyond. They offer a monthly membership for $70 which includes 2 services a month, plus a discount on products and a free deep conditioner monthly. Blow outs don't roll over so you need to be sure to use them. They also do make up and lashes, with smashbox products but I've yet to try those services. read more

It was my second time here and I was really excited as I had a great first-time experience at this location. The same stylist did my hair. She's nice but not as enthusiastic as other stylists I have experienced at other salons. I came in today wanting my hair to look pretty for Mother's day as I had plans for today. However, I ended up with a burn on my forehead. I would've been alright and I would've been more understanding with the stylist if only she had shown a little bit of empathy to me, as her client, and be a little more apologetic. I felt she didn't care, she said "I'm sorry" and that was it. She didn't even offer for a cream or something to help my forehead feel better?!? She didn't show any emotions whatsoever. I was thinking of getting a membership with them, thankfully I didn't as I am scared to go back at this place now. On top of that, I still paid the full price for my blowout.
