Have been here a few times with a group from work, how we unwind after work on Friday. To get to know one another outside the office, talk about life that does not involve work, and just relax. The staff have been helpful, the first time was a little like pulling teeth to get information about the process...but since then everyone is helpful and knowledgeable about what to do and what paints to use if you will be eating/using the item for food/beverage. They have pottery and canvas to paint. You can freehand it or there are stencils available to use to have the perfect outcome - or as perfect as can be with an amateur doing the work. I love this place!!! Went here on Saturday night with the kiddos, and we had a blast. Wished I knew about this painting place sooner. It's so therapeutic to paint and the place brought out such a good vibe. The lady at the counter was so sweet and thorough. They have a lot of options with reasonable price. Basically you paint, then they will fire and you will pick up the pieces in a week. We spent a couple hours to paint but couldn't finish, so we will come back another day. Basically you pick your pottery piece, paint it and pay for the piece. The pottery pieces start from $6. My crew each picked a piece from $10-$15, and had really fun times for a couple hours. It's been a few years since I was last here, and the first time I took young kids (ages 10, 7, and 2 1/2). Things I already knew from experience that I love about this place that did not disappoint: one price covers everything. We went to paint ceramics. While the items can be pricey, the cost includes paint, supplies, sitting there enjoying yourself for as long as you want (this is important), and help if you have questions. We took snacks for the kids as we went after school. It was the perfect time as we happened to have the whole place to ourselves. For the 2 y/o, they have a little table just her size, and even better, toys and books for when she decided she was done. The older two enjoyed their projects and are excited to see what the finished products look like. What's even better was the memories we made that will be preserved with the objects they made. The grown-ups have decided we want to go back without the kids to paint something on our own. I especially love the textured paints that have a speckled or spotted look. They really give a rich look to the finished product. There are so many choices from tiny 2" tall items to huge platters and cookie jars. The painting spot absolutely saved the date I had planned for my husband and I today. I had an appointment scheduled at another painting place but unfortunately got an email cancelling the class less that 24 hrs before our appointment! I had scheduled that appointment weeks in advance and there were none of their branches that had openings for a painting we wanted to do. Crisis adverted when I called the Painting Spot and spoke to Edith. She was so kind and wanted to make sure our experience was great after we had been so disappointed. Edith made sure that since they didn't have a party at the time we were coming she'd let us use the Party Room so we could have some privacy for our "date". When we got there this morning and Lori took care of us completely. She made us feel comfortable. Something I really like about The Painting Spot is that is always lets you drop in and pick your individual ceramic piece or painting. It was really hard to find a piece I liked that had a class time that fit our schedule. The flexibility of The Painting Spot made the whole experience so much more fun. Fun place for a team event! We had four people, some who who had never met in person before, and we needed some activity to keep us busy yet allow us to get to know one another. This was it! We brought in cheese and wine, got great instructions from the staff, and spent a couple of hours painting pottery and having a good time. This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I went a few months ago to try something new. The process goes like this: you begin by choosing an item from their many options. There are items for every age from coffee vases to plates to animal statues. We chose a doggy shaped treat jar for our puppy treats and an oversized mug. The price of the item is the total price you will pay including paint and firing it. Then you pick from an enormous amount of colors including ones that can be speckled! Once you're all set with your item and your paint, the time is yours to spend creatively painting your unique masterpiece. There are many individual tables for each group there. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. I never felt rushed and probably could've stayed for hours painting! We paid at the end and in one week we'll have our pieces. Can't wait to see the final product and can't wait to go back with my little nieces! My kids and wife painted some things a couple of weeks ago. upon pickup, one of our items was glued together, as in broken by them and they glued it back together hoping that we didn't know. Not a small piece either. It was so obvious. I wish I had saved a photo of it because it was the most offensive thing that I have ever seen, laughable really. Went back in there and the worker really had no explanation, I mean what do you say at that point? All she really could say is that her manager sometimes glues the items back together. Absurd. Seriously wish I had saved a photo because you too would be laughing at how absurd it was to think we wouldn't notice. I do not know if the young girl at the front did this or if it truly was her manager. By the way, she acted, I assume her. She could not have cared less if she had tried. After waiting for the pottery my kid was pretty devastated. Wish I had been given a heads up, so I could have warned my kid. Nah, was just a complete meltdown for us to have to deal with. I went in to paint pottery and I chose a really cute mug. My best friend and I had a really pleasant time and when we did not finish, they let us come back a second day. The old lady who checked us out was very nice and I really liked her. There was a discount that day except she did not give it to me. I came back the next day to ask about the discount and another worker there was very reluctant to give me my money and instead gave me a piece of paper. I love this place. Over the holidays I took my nephew here to paint a trophy and some ornaments. He had a lot of fun and so did I. They have a wide selection of pottery to pick from. It took us over an hour to finish our project. When it's done it doesn't look very impressive until they bake it. We had set up a children's party. We have had good experiences coming to paint here in the past. However, this was very different. The party took a negative turn when one of the employee's made an unprofessional accusation regarding the kids right in front of them. This lead to an unprofessional conversation b/w both parties. Let me start by saying that my purpose of this review is to be constructive. By observing interactions with other customers, the studio manager is a nice lady with a pleasant personality. That said, she is not an effective communicator. I contacted her in December 2017 with a series of specific questions about glass fusion. I asked questions about pricing, policy, how the open studio works, etc. I was lead to believe that if I took a class that included a 6x6 piece, I could come back in the future to do a larger piece during open studio. Believing that I did my due diligence, asking the right questions and satisfied with the answers, I purchased $220 in gift certificates. I returned in August to do a larger piece. The event started with ambiguity about the pricing. There was a sheet with published pricing that had the cost of items during open studio. After my wife, adult daughter and I selected our items, the studio manager came back with the pricing crossed out on the sheet and new pricing that was more than double the previous price. When I questioned that, she started talking in circles with responses that contradicted previous statements and in general, seemed illogical. She said the prices are lower if you build the piece as part of a class, of which the piece and the class are included in the price. If you build the piece during open studio, the price is higher. I asked her if she was sure she didn't have her facts reversed. I told her that didn't make sense. At that point, I had nonrefundable gift certificates so I felt trapped. As I started building my piece, I could sense that she was getting disturbed with me. When I confronted her, she said if I need glass cut, she needs to be the one cutting it. I have several issues with that statement. First, she was preoccupied with other events and customers to cater to our needs. Second, what is the premise behind open studio if I can't build my own piece from start to finish? Third, I was led to believe by the same manager that by taking the instructional class in December, I would have autonomy the next time I came in. I informed her that none of this was clearly communicated. The web site says one thing. Asking her specific questions elicited contradictory responses. Information in the studio conveyed something different. At nearly $200 in costs, my family and I made the most of the experience but we all felt very restricted with what we were allowed to do and what glass materials we were allowed to use. read more
