I LOVE MY PEBBLE POOL BY PRINS POOLS!! Incredible workmanship, attention to detail and outstanding value! I was not planning on remodeling the pool this year, and was focusing on just the pavers and retaining wall, but since this paving contractor broke most of my pool tile, I decided to do the pool early and had to call some pool remodeling companies for quotes. After interviewing 5 different pool remodelers looking at their work, showrooms etc, I'm so happy I selected Prins Pools to remodel my pool. Bill was able to work within my budget and gave me the best deal out of the 5. He was not the cheapest, somewhere in the middle, but quality work i have received is worth more than i paid in my opinion! Bill (The owner) pointed out several deficiencies when he came out to give me a quote on the retaining wall work that I had the paving company install, IE. water proofing the wall, bond grid, etc. making sure it was absolutely straight (the wall bowed out about 3/4 " in the middle) Bill picked it up immediately and stated he would not want to float a crooked wall with $4500 worth of mosaic tile because it should be straight to begin with. I agreed and had the pavers rebuild it from scratch! I knew right there and then Prins pools was the builder for me! He listened to what I wanted and gave me honest feedback on what would and would not work and other very cool add on options that I didn't even know I wanted like a sun deck with umbrella holes. Great for kids to be in the water but only about a foot deep so parents can be right next to them w/o being fully committed to the water. Bill and his wife even invited us over look at their pool to get a feel of what pebble feels like and was patient as we made our selection. He even made us some sample pieces that we could use to match with our tile that we haven't selected yet. I'm extremely particular when it comes to how things are done and wanted to see and be a part of every phase of the build e.g. demo, prep, finish work etc because I had such a horrible experience with this paving company, Prin's Pools was a breath of fresh air because I didn't feel like I needed to baby sit. His crew was amazing, very hard working and respectful to my property which was very important to me. The first crew (demo/prep crew) did an amazing job on the mosaic water line tile we picked out and all the prep work. To this day I'm amazed how they got 120 feet of 1" mosaic tile so straight without every filling up the pool to check. There is a 1/8" grout line that when the pool is filled up normally, the water sits ever so precisely in that 1/8" gap for the entire 120 feet, this is the stuff I look at and drives me crazy if it's not done right. Prins pool guys blew me away with the quality of the workmanship. I tipped them all when they completed their part and the pool was not even done yet! The plaster crew that did the pebble was just as good and worked on the Memorial Day weekend with Bill supervising the entire process all day on a holiday weekend. In the end we selected a Tahoe Blue rock with light Tropics Blue cement with blue and black glass with abalone shells for cool iridescent reflections. Bill was adamant about giving us a custom color and I have to say It's freakin awesome and everyone that comes over, their jaws just drop. I already have referred all my friends to get their pools done by Prin's pools. If your thinking of having any pool work or installation done on your home, this is the contractor you need. I wanted to wait 6 months before I gave my review just in case something went wrong and I would need to change the story, but the pools still looks amazing with no issues with plaster coming off etc. The experience was wonderful at every level and we will be forever grateful to Bill and the crew for providing us excellent customer service and workmanship. I had an appointment window from between 11 and 1 pm. I waited until 12:10 and called the number because no one had shown up. Turns out, they would be at my place closer to 1 and 'very likely after 1 o'clock'. I have already taken 2 hours out of my busy schedule at work and to not have someone show up in the window provided was ridiculous. I had the option to setup another time, but since I didn't get the courtesy of showing up on time for my appointment that I had booked the previous week, I'm not going to give them the courtesy of getting my business. It's too bad, because I like the work they have done (at least what I saw online), but come on, give me the courtesy of showing up IN the window, not after and not at the very tail end of the allotted time. If you book your potential customers time in a 2 hour window, I expect you to show up INSIDE of that window and not make me take 3 hours out of my work day to give you business. read more

The experience was very disagreeable and the over run costs were horrendous! I would not recommend Bill Prins. The permit process and the worksite was a mess for many months! Note: The completed project is acceptable and functions properly. (Commercial Pool at an Apartment Complex) Prins Pools was selected to remodel the pool; plaster, coping, tile, skimmers and new drains, to comply with necessary plumbing and health codes and a new perimeter metal fence and ADA gate opening device. This is an Apartment Complex so this is considered a commercial pool. Right now 5.15.2018, the concrete deck has been removed and the plaster was chiseled for re-plastering. The old metal fence has been removed. So far so good! We are awaiting the Health and Building Permits, I will fully review as we progress. Well, it's been months since they finished. The pool passed all code requirements and it operates as required. Some of the folks Bill brought in were very good. Really, Bill Prins is his own worst enemy. We felt he took advantage and padded the add ons to the tune of many thousands. We would not use him again. read more

We had our pool filled in earlier this year. rins Pool gave us the most reasonable price and the owner was very straight forward, explaining the process so I would understand what was going to happen and how long it was going to take. Prins Pools did our pool re-plaster and "refresh". The price as quoted, the work was done well. Bill worked with us to customize the pebble color, adding some glass and abalone shell without increasing the cost. Our pool has a great sparkle now. They redid the pool tile as well. And reset many of the decorative boulders around our pool that were coming loose. We also had the equipment replaced and automated. Overall a good experience and I'd recommend Prins Pools for anyone else looking to have a new look for their pool. read more

With construction type work, I usually post a review a year later. This is because if you are still happy with the work after a year, then the contractor done a good job. Based on a recommendation, I had Bill Prin Pools replaster and retile my pool. Their quote wasn't the cheapest, but wasn't the most expensive. Their quote was in the middle of all the other quotes. Since I seen his work before and liked it, I decided to go with Prin Pools. I'm glad I did. They did the job on time and the workmanship still looks great. I've had NO issues with the quality of his work. His crew was great and very clean. They cleaned up every day and there was no mess. Unusual for construction type jobs. The only issue I had was that we orignally requested 200 linear feet of a specific decorative tile, but the tile we wanted was no longer in stock (not Prin Pools problem, but the tile vendor issue). We decided to go with a different decorative tile, but only need 17 pieces of tile and not the 200 linear foot of tile. Bill and I had to rebid that portion of the quote, which we did to both of our satisfaction. Otherwise, loved his work and the pool came out great. read more

The crew just finished re-plastering my swimming poor about an hour ago and I couldn't be happier with their quality of work, the crew that did the work and, having the company owner on hand to make sure everything was done right. Always made sure that at the end of the day everything was cleaned up as if they had never been there. Work crew were always polite and courteous and never slowed down until the job was finished. On a few different occasions I have spoken to both owners. They were both professional and very courteous! Definetly know their business, and I felt very confident in the knowledge I recieved. I will be using them for my pool, as well as my mothers. This is what I think about the other reviews that seem to be NOT about their service. If you are going to be rude to someone who is there to help you, then you should expect it right back. And if you dont like what you are quoted, then its your option to put your money where your mouth is, pay more for the same work somewhere else.....I doubt Prins Pool Remodel will loose any sleep over it :) read more

Do not use them to refinish your plaster pool. We had them refinish the plaster and tile work about 2 years ago. Before that our pool had not been touched in 30 years. Not only have they have had to come out several times to replace tiles that have fallen loose, but in 2 years the plaster color has become so mottled and streaked it looks WORSE than it did before we refinished it. Their response? "Yes, it does look really bad. But we don't guaranteed plaster color so you have no recourse." They also tried to blame the pool service, the same one that had worked on the old finish for years. AVOID. read more

We had our thirty year old pool plastered by them in June 2011. I checked Yelp prior to signing our contract, however something has happened to their service since the last post in 2009. We have have had coping issues with breakage of tiles, which they had to come out and fix twice. Now we have mastic shrinkage and there are holes appearing. Now they are informing us that this is not covered by warranty. I believe they use substandard workers and I would definitely not give this company thousands of dollars or any recommendation. read more

We had our pool re-finished by Prins and they did a fabulous job. We didn't want the standard white plaster and we didn't want the dark grey "Tahoe Blue" or whatever it's called. I told Bill Prins that I wanted my pool to look the color of faded denim. He NAILED the color perfectly. It was EXACTLY as I had envisioned it. I'm in the trade so I deal with dozens contractors all the time, I called prins to get an alternative bid to a replastering project. This has to be the worst first impression I got from any contractors over the years. Given the previous yelp one star review about stained plasters from these guys, I first asked the guy (owner of the company) about what surface material they use and where they purchase it. He first refused to tell me where he buys then gave me so much attitude about I don't understand what he's saying. When I mentioned that he's not listening, he said go find someone else then started walking out, I asked for his name so I can leave a yelp review, he stormed back and started threating me! The good thing is that he saw my housekeeper who answered the door, and also I live on university ave in palo alto, so lots of cops around, finally i told him to leave my property and he left. So if you are a lady and wants to get a bid from these guys, make sure you have someone in the house. I'm personally shocked to see people doing service business in such unprofessional manner. read more

Back in February we used Prins Pool Remodeling to resurface our 16 year old pool, replace the tile and replace all of the pool equipment. We can't express how pleased with our with the outcome and what a pleasant experience it was dealing with and working with the owner Bill Prin and his wife Tricia. Seriously!! We sought out four (4) companies to bid on the project - three (3) of them big well known companies. All came in fairly close in price, type of material to be used, etc. I asked ALOT of questions of each of the companies and was able to bring the decision down to two (2) companies. We ultimately decided on Prins because 1) we got a good, solid gut feel for the owner and how he responded to my never ending questions and 2) we felt the owner was on the up and up consistently and honesty was a huge factor. They performed the work in the time frame they stipulated (of course you need to account for weather, but in our case we lucked out) and went beyond to accommodate our work schedules and assisted us in color choices, materials that would last the long haul, equipment specifics, and equipment warranties. We actually watched as he and his crew did the actual work - amazing. They each are in sync like fine tuned instruments. We really were impressed. They cleaned up after each phase of the work and all the workers were polite and professional. The pool and corresponding tile are gorgeous and the equipment is all energy efficient and Bill stands behind his work. This was a very scary project for us to take on and as anyone who is considering this type of work or has had it done, it is not cheap. It took us 2-3 months of serious research before we sought out the bids and then we did more research based upon input from the bidders. We are glad we went with Prins and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. We highly recommend them. I'm not sure what's up with the one star folks here, but our experience was great from start to finish. read more
