I selected a salad for a meal that was tasty, but the lettuce was warmish instead of cold as I would expect. My brother enjoyed a burger that was very tasty, but the distribution of cheese and bacon in the burger was very inconsistent. The beer and entree selections were very nice. We live in Yuma and the downtown area is one of our favorite spots. The local brews here are quite good and the food used to be top notch. We were very disappointed the last two times here. The first time, we ordered some of their smoked brisket and got stuff that was as dry and tasteless as shoe leather. The next time, the salmon was awful, and when we sent it back and got a salad with some grilled shrimp instead they were burnt on one side and raw-white on the other. Just terrible. The owner has told me how tough it is to hire people post-COVID, but there is just no excuse for serving raw seafood. Sure hope they get their mojo back, but until then, there are better places in Yuma to eat. read more

I made a reservation here a couple of weeks ago for my daughter's softball team when they had a tournament in Yuma. It's nice they can take a reservation in advance for a larger party, and I was so happy they could accommodate our team during COVID. They were also able to roll with it when more people decided to come and I was only able to give them a couple hours notice, changing the reservation from 20 to 40 people. When we arrived at the restaurant it did not take too long to seat us all in one area but still following the social distancing rules. Some of the parents liked sampling their beers and they have a lot of fun menu items. I ended up getting the pretzel appetizer and a southwest style salad - I really liked both. Order taking was a little laborious and confusing, as were the checks at the ends. We did have a big group which was split into different checks, so I get that is a tall order. I do go to restaurants often with this size group and some places are better at it than others. Getting the food was also a little slow and some people's food took a lot longer than others. This didn't bother us since we were just happy to be able to all go to a restaurant together during COVID. This does not affect my review because I don't think you would have these problems with a family-sized group. If I'm in Yuma again, I would go back! read more

We were out for a weekend day trip from San Diego and decided to checkout Yuma, AZ. We were getting hungry on our adventure and turned to my trusty friend Yelp for help. The cold beer hit the spot on a hot Saturday afternoon followed by a delicious fried avocado and a fresh house-made burger cooked perfectly medium and the sidewinder fries. Delightful find in old downtown Yuma. Found this place after searching for dog friendly restaurants and everything lived up to the favourable reviews we saw. Got water for our dog and great beer selection for us. Had the house Double IPA Penetration - deliciously hoppy. Food menu was diverse - I had the smoked meat plate with local sausage and pulled pork and my wife had the poblano pepper burger - both of us very happy with our choices. Our experience was so good that two days later we visited again for lunch on the return leg of our weekend vacation in San Diego. Nice to see downtown Yuma enjoying something of a renaissance. Stopped passing through Yuma, which I do now and again. Had the shank and the meat platter. Food prices a little higher than you might find for a typical brewery but the quality of food made it worthwhile. We sat at bar so service was good, with limited seating these days. We found Prison Hill Brewing on a recent trip out to San Diego. We really needed a stop in Yuma to stretch our legs and grab some gnosh. Finding a place where we could sample local beer sounded like an added bonus. Upon first appearances, we were pretty excited about the brewery -- the beers sounded interesting and the menu looked great. The options all have double entendres and funny prison-related meanings. They really stuck with the theme. Our wait staff was friendly and the outdoor patio was excellent for people watching. Unfortunately the actual food and drinks left a lot to be desired. First the beer: I got their blonde with a fruit flavor addition. It wasn't bad, but the fruit definitely tasted like an afterthought. My husband's choice was better, but nothing notable in the world of microbrews we find ourselves. The food was notable -- in that it was terrible. For an appetizer, we got the pretzels. They were good by themselves, but the beer cheese was incredibly watery and without flavor. For an entree, I got "The Verdict" sandwich. The brisket was inedible. It was so tough I couldn't even cut it. It was impossible to chew, and I found myself having to spit it out rather than swallowing the big rubbery chunks. While this place had a lot of promise and looked really appealing, what we actually got should have stayed in lockup. read more

Just took way too long to get our meals. Once we got them our fries were cold. I usually love this place but what happened today just wasn't ok. We went here to eat dinner and watch the World Series because I love the name and the previous yelp reviews. Parking was easy for a downtown area. Lots of beer to choose from and the Hibiscus Margarita is really yummy! The chicken and waffles was really good and I had the 2 smoked meat dinner with 2 sides. It was so much food! I had the macaroni salad and spicy cole slaw sides which were delicious! The pulled pork was the better of the meats, the other was the tri tip which was just ok. We started with an order of poutine which was pretty good. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is because the stools are incredibly uncomfortable. We left during the game to go back to the hotel to watch the game here, but only because I couldn't sit on the stool any longer. Oh and the service was great! read more

All around great atmosphere! This brewing company had appetizers such as fried avocado and Mexican-style corn-on-the-cob. I really liked the smoked meat plate and homemade potato chips. They also serve sandwiches and salads. Every plate that passed by looked well-presented and yummy. It is located downtown, which has a small-town, cozy feel. The service was friendly and prompt. We waited over half an hour for a salad, sandwich and a piece of so over cooked salmon. The salmon was tough to eat. I guess if you wanted beer only this might be okay. Went a few times. Burgers were terrible. No flavor. Tried a few other dishes only to be disappointed. Ordered a brownie dessert only to sit for another 30 minutes waiting. When asked, they said it had to bake, but when received the brownie was cold and hard. The only dish that is semi palatable is the tri tip but at times even that can be too salty and nearly inedible.
