On my road trip across the desert coming back to San Diego stopped in Yuma to have a little lunch and a little rest. I don't think I've been to Applebee's in 10 or 12 years but it sounded different and good so and I went when I got out of my car. It was 112° and inside was nice and cool and dark but the best part was my server, Ashley, who made my day. Just incredibly friendly on it and when I made a couple of changes on what I wanted, she didn't even blink. She said great.! The burger was outstanding! Totally what I needed and wanted. We really like stopping at Applebee's no matter where we are. We find the food is usually consistent. The place is always clean and the host is pleasant. We prefer the bar area because we can usually walk right in. We also really like the 1/2 price appetizers. What usually varies between them isn't so much the food as the service. It's a people thing. This time was no different. Food was very good. Getting our first order in took a little waiting. We were one of only three tables with folks in the bar area. No idea why they were slow. Swung in here to get a bite for lunch. I have only eaten at an Applebee's once in my lifetime and was not impressed. I was a little reluctant, but the other two with me like Applebee's... so be it. There were only about 3 tables occupied, which I suppose could have been a clue. The entrance to this place is kind of a pain in the ass, so I initially thought maybe that had something to do with it. But, maybe not... I ordered the Mushroom & Onion Swiss Burger plate that came with fries and an appetizer of Wonton Tacos to share; as well as a beer. The beer was nice and cold, especially after enduring the 110+ degree heat of Yuma. The wonton tacos were tasty, but overpriced for x4 little guys. The burger was not tasty at all. It had a funky taste. Not spoiled, just odd for me. I tried a pork rib that one of the others ordered and it was nothing special. I would not ever pay $30+ for those, but then again I won't be returning to ANY Applebee's as far as I am concerned (unless I am forced by being outvoted and starving). We were greeted and seated quickly by masked friendly staff. I went to wash my hands while the ladies ordered beverages. Two of us were sharing a meal of Chipotle shrimp bowl and our other friend ordered the Strawberry balsamic salad. The meals arrived but sadly the shrimp order they gave us was the wrong one. They happily took the order back. The correct meal came in 5 minutes and was separated into two bowls. Both meals were very good. The chicken in the salad had a nice flavor . The chicken was also very tender. The shrimp (6 pieces) on each bowl were nicely cooked. The Chipotle flavor added a zing. A friend took me there for my birthday. I got the Bourbon Cajun burger with salad. She gota club sandwich with fries. She couldn't eat her meal, as the fries were cold, and the sandwich was soggy, and falling apart. How can you mess up a club sandwich? Well, they did. At least she didn't have to pay for her meal. You don't want an Applebees like the one in Yuma. We went there tonight and it was a bad experience from the moment we walked in the door. Lot's of tables for two available but the gal said it would be a 20 to 25 minute wait. I asked what about all of those empty tables and she said there were others ahead of us. I looked around and there were two other couples waiting. Got to our table finally and I ordered a Cesar Salad. The salad that was brought to me was gross. The waitress argued that was what they had for cesar dressing mix. It tasted like heavy mayonaise. I told her that I was over 60 years of age and that I knew what ceasar dressing tasted like. I don't know why these young folks feel a constant need to argue. I didn't get to my age to know nothing, sigh. We had to ask for the bill because it just wasn't coming. She came over and said, I asked him to come out and take that off and he came out. But no, the uneaten salad was still over $6 on the bills. I Appreciate the help over the phone the gentleman I spoke with was very nice and helpful for a moment I thought I will have a bad experience as I have had in the past with other restaurants. Came by to pick up my food and the employees at the front door greeted me and asked if there was anything they can help me with I simply said I'm picking up my order I made over the phone, they proceed to check on my order and during the wait time I was offered something to drink that was very nice of them. I'm a big fan of Applebee's since they serve some healthy dishes as well! The prices are comparable to other family restaurants and the service we received was outstanding. The food is pretty good and I love their cocktails. There's a happy hour starting at 9.00pm which gives you decent prices on selected drinks and all beers. I guess the only reason why I would not give this place 5 stars is that I think 5-6 TVs is a bit much for a restaurant!! I'm mean you come here for food and not to watch some TV, right!? Called on Thur to seek reservations for a party of 20 on Sat. Was told no reservations. Showed up an hout earlier to secure a table before our party came. Was told it would be 1 hr to an 1 and 40 min wait. 30 min later a party of 10 came in and we were told they had reservations so they were sat. At the 1 hr 45 min mark of waiting we had not been given any updates. The restraunt was not busy. There were many empty tables. Inquired how much longer as we had young children waiting. Basically were told it could be awhile. Notified the manager and there was no care about the situation. They did not communicate any updates to us an had 0 customer service. We ended up going to Brewers at the airport who was more than happy to reserve a table for us until we go there. I have wored in the restaurant business an would never have ignored guests for almost 2 hrs w no updates or communication. read more

Elia, the bar tender was cool calm and collected. She was extremely busy and still had a smile and kept to the professional she truly is. We ordered the 2 for $29.00 Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp. Both orders were terrible-the spice that was dumped on the top of both was not good tasting at all. We spoke to the manager sent the food back. We reordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks and chicken wings-which were mediocre. When we received our bill we were charged $38.97 which was more than our original order would of been - due to the fact that they charged us $4.49 for the 2 salads that came with our original order and then the separate appetizer and wings. This is usually our go-to place to have some drinks with dinner. We usually hit happy hour for drink specials and 1/2 off appetizers 3-6p and 9-cls. Last night we had awesome service, can't remember our server's name but she was knowledgeable and efficient, we even tried some new paleta Jello shots that were SO GOOD! Perfect margarita was on point and had some new mucho citrus drink that was literally the best beverage I've ever had.
