This place has been in operation even before 1916. If you're looking to dine at a restaurant with interesting history and interior, come here! I ordered the basket of fish Taco. 4 huge tacos in flour or corn tortilla or mix if you want. I suggest to share, very generous portions. Definitely a VIBE. When you walk in you'll feel like you've gone back in time. The walls, ceilings, and more are covered in the most random things and sitting and having a beer and just playing eye spy are very entertaining. We've been coming to Lute's Cafe in Yuma for over 40 years, and it's long been a place where we meet up, so this experience was honestly offensive and disappointing. The rolled tacos were rolled tighter than a Cuban cigar and literally thinner than my finger with barely any filling, even the waitress could make out if they were supposed to be beef or potato. It felt like they were relying on what this place means to people rather than delivering the quality that used to be standard. We know what Lute's is capable of, which is why this stood out so much. My wife and I stopped here for lunch while in Yuma. On a positive note, it has a wild and wonderful and noisy ambiance that makes it a fun mealtime stop. The over-the-top electric and eccentric decor with quirky photos and memorabilia, neon signs, you name it, makes an interesting place to browse after the meal. You're bound to see something that will make you chuckle or guffaw. It's a historic restaurant, having been open since 1951. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The reason for the 4 (vs. 5) star review was the food. I asked the waitress what the restaurant's specialty was and she said it was the Especial, which is a cheeseburger and hot dog in one sandwich with grilled onions. It's been on the menu since 1951. The hamburger was a frozen patty that had been grilled quickly. It wasn't fresh meat at all. The hot dog was cut down the middle and placed on top of the burger. The ingredients just weren't fresh or well-prepared. My wife's Southwest Grilled Cheese tasted like hastily melted American cheese on lightly toasted sourdough with some Ortega chiles on it. A grilled cheese sandwich is one of those simple pleasure type dishes, yet this one wasn't prepared well at all. And despite the chiles, the sandwich tasted bland. Still, Lute's Casino's decor and atmosphere are worth a stop, at least for a drink. read more

We just stopped here on our way back to California, as we had heard it had a good atmosphere for kids. And there were several families there as well, so we decided to give it a try. Some of the things on the walls and arcade games (the terminator) seemed inappropriate for little kids (mine are 3 and 5 and said it was "scary). Also it was really loud and hard to hold a conversation. I'd say it's better for teenagers. The service was alright and the food was ok, but we didn't finish anything because of the FLIES. As soon as our food was on the table, we could barely eat for swatting them off the food and our faces. My son almost dropped his food because a fly landed on his nose. And worst of all, the women's bathroom door was propped open and there were flies all in there as well. Really, I'm surprised this place has passed its food safety inspections, which is the reason for my one star review. read more

Well, first of all it's not a casino but it's surely as busy as one. We went here for lunch because it was really busy the last time we walked by it. Figured if it was that busy, it was a good sign. We both had a draft beer and there special -A cheeseburger with a fried hotdog on top of the burger patty. We also ordered a side of fries. The burgers were.... Interesting and actually really good. Who doesn't love a fried hotdog?!?! It had a soft bun, fresh lettuce onions pickles and tomatoes. It was good, but we both agreed the hamburger patty needed flavor-or, maybe salt? This is an interesting place. Although the word "casino" is part of the name, it does not offer casino services. It is an eating establishment that also serves alcohol. Inside is like a warehouse building decorated in a very eclectic and interesting way. No matter where you look there is something really interesting to look at. It was a little on the noisy side due to the acoustics of the building, but it was easy to carry on a convetsation st our table. The staff was very friendly and instructed us to sit wherever we wanted. The menus are kept on the tables along with the condiments and a napkin dispenser. Our server was very helpful in helping us navigate the big menu to make our selections. I got the rolled potato tacos and my husband got the tri tip sandwich. We shared a large order of onion rings. The rolled tacos are actually what I refer to as taquitos. Our server recommended that I use a lot of their special homemade salsa that was in dispenser on the table. The salsa was mild with a mild bite that added more moisture to the dish. The trip tip sandwich had a generous portion of meat that was enhanced by adding some of the delicious salsa. The onion rings were breaded and very meaty. They were great with the house made ranch dressing. Overall it was a good experience and we will come back to try some of their other menu items when we come back this way again. read more

Second visit here and an intentional one at that! We were headed home from California and chose to take I-8 this time in order to bring the wife here...she wasn't with me the first time I visited. Just the ambiance, the décor, the nostalgia, etc. is such a draw to this fun, eclectic place! And of course, we spent over an hour here while she moved around checking out every corner! It was busy at all when we got there...mid-afternoon. Our server, Eben, said that they had been smashed the day before for Father's Day and they were enjoying the calmer day. Here's what we enjoyed: Patty Melt (had this previously and it was so good I had to have it again!) which is big and juicy and cooked to perfection. Full of gooey onions and cheese and I love to dunk mine in yellow mustard! Also had a side salad with ranch dressing (they make their own and it is so good and creamy). Also the tater tots because heck...who can't eat fried tater tots? Angus Burger, cooked medium and comes with lots of lettuce, tomato and onion and again, a big burger! We also order onion rings, which again are fried to perfection. I love when you bite into an onion ring and the whole onion doesn't come sliding out. They guys know how to cook rings! Stopped in to meet my Brother in law and some of his friends here for lunch. Cool spot! Lot's of stuff to look at, and arcade games for the kids. My kids spent probably $20.00 on the claw candy game and came up with bags full of candy. For food, I went with the patty melt and an order or onion rings/fries. Patty melt was really good! Super cheesy, which I like. Onion rings were bomb! Thick, crispy and fried perfectly. The fries were meh. Standard fries, soggy kind of. Wish I had ordered all onion rings. Service was great! I have given Lutes Casino other chances after my poor experience three years ago. They accommodated fundraisers for Yuma Center for Spiritual Living on two of those occasions. I really enjoyed my time there. The food was good (potato rolled tacos yummm) and the atmosphere was fun and the music great! The service was excellent on all my other trips there. I am glad that Bob Lutes responded to my post last time and that I was willing to think about it and give them another try. If you are visiting Yuma this is a great place to stop by. read more

Havent been to Lutes since the recesión when I called Yuma home for a short time. Fast forward to 2024 road trip thru states and did a pit stop here. We initally wanted to try the half pint but no one acknowledged us nor apolized for leaving us hanging. When we step into Lutes the place was packed and we made our wy tomaras the middle. Within 4 minutes of sitting down Wendy appeared bubbly and ready to take our order. She acknowledged everyone in our group which included a mix of kids. This place came recommended by a local and it was ''meh" to me. The food was nothing to write home about. Likely just frozen Sysco foods, especially for the price. We ordered jalapeño poppers with 1/2 cheddar and 1/2 cream cheese filling for nearly $11. It came with 5 poppers and 2 of them didn't have any filling in them at all. The fish and chips were very greasy and the tartar sauce was served in commercially prepared/sealed containers. The back entrance is pretty cute, and has the charm of historical significance. The chairs at the tables were very uncomfortable to sit for a meal. The restaurant seems to have been thrown together with random memorabilia of sorts that may hold significance to the owners but really just seemed like remnants of a junk yard pickers show. Friday night 20 of my friends and I swarmed into Lute's for food and drinks. Our server Amanda took all our appetizers & drink orders. Then made our drinks and brought us our appetizers. Why is this place so popular? We loved the eclectic decorations and atmosphere of this place but our food was meh. We got a daily special with bbq brisket with Gouda cheese and baked beans and a 1/2 soup and sandwich. I opted for the clam chowder. It didn't tasted homemade and lacked flavor but was piping hot and was ok. The turkey sandwich was on a grain bread that added to the sandwich. The bbq brisket was messy and delicious. The cheese needed a little more melting. The beans were ok more like a chili/bbq bean flavor. All in all it's fun to try each time we come to Yuma but once a trip is enough.
