This unassuming restaurant is a desert gem. I always make it a point to dine here when passing through Yuma. This was my 5th visit since 2010. Easy to miss , especially at night. But what you'll find is a 5 star restaurant once you step inside. They have patio dining as well as tables inside. Each meal is prepared and plated with culinary skill. On this day, I had the curry shrimp and veggies. A sort of deconstructed Thai yellow curry dish. The plating made all the difference. The plate was served with a shaped mound of rice in the middle, with sauteed vegetables around the edges, green beans, carrots, zucchinis, onions, peppers and 8 shrimp placed around the plate on top of the veggies. The Yellow curry was poured over the rice for a unique plating. The shrimp were cooked nicely and everything was delicious. I have never had a disappointing meal in this place. I sat near the front door and had a duel with a relentless fly for a while that was a little annoying. But hey, sometime we deal with things in life for the greater good. A top notch , do not miss restaurant in my book and I recommend to everyone I know. We sat outside and it was upscale which was a shock being it was on a Main Street in Yuma! Indoors was a bit small, crowded and the AC must have been cranked as it was too freezing to sit inside! I ordered the salmon because I was really interested in trying the mushroom risotto since I have become a recent fan of it at another restaurant. (Top Of The Rock) My salmon was good, seasoned well and the risotto was good but not overwhelmingly fantastic! I wouldn't order it again! I feel like I like it more puréed than a soft rice feel. The hubs had the "steak special" and it was SO HUGE that he could have easily had 2 full meals of pasta. Since we were traveling, we did not take our leftovers home, but they were worth it if we had been traveling back home that night. The ambience and service was on par with a nice upscale restaurant. We had dinner here tonight and it was on a neighbor's recommendation. We are new to Yuma and took our new neighbors out to dinner to get to know them better and thank them for all their recent help. There were 4 of us. The restaurant is clean and has a nice feel. I gave the girl who seated us my credit card and asked her to charge us as it was our treat. (At the end of our dinner, our waitress handed our neighbors the bill with our credit card.... It was uncomfortable and awkward). We were given each a slice of bread (very good). We each ordered a cocktail and chatted for a bit. We ordered the following: a seafood gumbo, fettuccine seafood Alfredo, pesto pasta, and a pesto pasta with shrimp, a Cesar salad and a spinach salad. It took awhile to get our food. The spinach salad was good. I would have it again. We ate and talked more. Paid our bill and left. The server delivered two plates of pesto pasta which shrimp although we only ordered one with shrimp. Our friend said he'd keep it. My complaint: the pesto pasta was terrible, and I don't say that lightly. It was barely warm, dry with the pesto sauce as if it had been re-warmed, the shrimp was almost too salted to eat (and I like salt), and there was a small pile of veggies on top of it all to give it color but even these were wilted and looked/tasted old. The seafood gumbo and the seafood fettuccine were both liked and seemed freshly put together. Now-I really wanted to say something but chose not to because we were just meeting our new neighbors and didn't want to complain about the meal in front of them. But, when we got into the car-our new friends commented that his pesto pasta was not warm and really not good at all. His comment lead to my review. Two of us had the same opinion. The dinner was good, but nothing was great. River City Grill wasn't a gem of a place tonight. We most likely won't give it another try and I doubt our neighbors will be back. read more

BlackBerry Mojito was minty and delicious with brown edged lime wedges. (Is there a way to avoid this?) Beer in bottles! Appetizer Salmon/ Crab patty! Yum! Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli in an Alfredo sauce! Very tasty and appealing to the eye too! Very strong cheese flavor in the sauce... not for the faint of heart! We loved it! Wagu Burger topped with a small ammount of Bleu Cheese and a generous mound of grilled onions and a slice of tomato. Added just a smidge of mayo. Removed both halves of the bun and chose to enjoy all the flavor with the bed of mixed greens! Happy low carb camper "right here in River City" !! Now let's talk dessert... Apple Bread a pudding with Cinnamon Ice Cream with Burbon Sauce drizzle! Heck Yeah! This amazing bit of wonder totally overshadowed a lackluster tiramisu! Order the Apple Bread Pudding! So I am driving to Phoenix going through Yuma, stomach rumbles and I think can i get anything good in Yuma, maybe a burger and a beer. But I see River Grill and decide i want to eat before phoenix. I get their Shakey parking, but I say ok take the risk. I go inside see Wow nice wine list. Order a Bonanza Cab nice price a little fruity but a solid wine at a great price. Menu looks very diverse and nice. I settle on a Strip rare. They bring me nice warm home made bread! Lovely I get my wine Shazam my steak arrives mashed potatoes very good, sautéed Veggies very well cooked still crisp. Steak came and cut and it was cooked perfectly. Very tender and just excellent. I've been here many times while in town for work. I usually have their blackened tofu which is delicious. However, recently the portions were extremely inconsistent. Dressing was awful, asked for some ranch dressing and was given a teaspoon of it. Not enough for 2 bites. There was 13 of us do they added 20% tip which made our bill $48.58. The broccoli cheddar soup had bacon in it that was not disclosed and the tomato soup didn't have any flavor - it was like someone pureed tomatoes and put it straight into the soup bowl. Always a huge fan of the food at this place! Last night we had a celebratory dessert and coffee my boyfriend and I ordered (to share): a chocolate flourless torte and the chocolate amaretto mousse. BOTH amazingly delicious! And RCG is the only place in town that serves mousse! Desserts were super yummy, coffee was hot Very romantic place. Portions are large (so you could split). I DONT recommend splitting dessert though They do offer take-out and also have a lot of outdoor dining. Service is hit or miss. Honestly mostly a miss. The servers are always fooling around, very slow to bring bread, get drinks, and check in after dinner arrives. I would expect better service for the price per guest. read more

While traveling from Tucson to San Diego, we found this place by seeing the good Yelp reviews. I have to admit though that when we first saw the outside which said "Fine Dining" on the sign, the outside appearance of the restaurant did not exactly scream "Fine Dining" to us, but looks can be very deceiving. For a moment before opening the doors, I wondered if it was even open, but then as soon as the doors opened, the entire restaurant was packed and bustling, and many happy diners enjoying their meals immediately conveyed a friendly and happy ambiance that welcomed us in. The service was excellent and everyone was so attentive. We picked the curried mussels to start and they were excellent, especially with the freshly baked bread to dip in the curry sauce. I had the lobster ravioli in the curry sauce and it was excellent, as were the grilled vegetables that came with it. My wife had the mustard crusted halibut and loved her dish. We were so happy to find this gem of a place in Yuma, and look forward to stopping by again soon! read more

Disappointed and Heartbroken - No Response After Months I'm genuinely saddened to write this. I had high hopes for Riverside Grill in Yuma, Arizona, especially knowing it's a local spot and owned by someone in the community, Nan Bain. Months ago, I left a review hoping to get a response about my experience--nothing. I followed up with a personal message on Facebook Messenger to Nan herself--still nothing. I even left multiple messages at the restaurant. No one has ever bothered to reach out. This isn't just disappointing--it's a reflection of how poorly the customer service is handled here. A business is only as mature as the way it treats its customers, and unfortunately, this place seems to lack basic respect and communication. I had been planning a large family get-together here while passing through town for a few days. But after seeing how little regard they have for their guests, I've decided to take my family elsewhere. It's truly sad--this could have been a great opportunity to support a local restaurant, but instead I was met with silence. And honestly, I don't understand how this place has a 4.5-star rating. Driving by, you wouldn't even notice this restaurant. On a street without many businesses, but the Open sign was in the window. Outstanding food for anywhere on the map, including Yuma. Friendly service and smooth jazz playing in the background. We had the rack of lamb and coconut curry shrimp. The lamb was spiced and cooked to perfection with a medley of vegetables and a wine sauce that complimented it all. Oh my what a gem. First time visit while on vacation. Had the crusted salmon lunch. Absolutely delicious. It's served over rigatoni. Salmon was incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. My daughter had a ribeye steak and she said it was delicious. Huge ribeye! I highly recommend this place and hope I can get back to try other menu items. The waiters and waitresses were all friendly and the service was top notch. It's such a cozy and quaint atmosphere and there is seating outside for those inclined. Went to River City with a group of 4. There service from Steven and crew was excellent. No hovering, just there when you needed them. The food was also 5 star. The salmon I'd wild caught from the Pacific Northwest, a rarity in AZ. Wish they were in Tucson instead of Yuma but definitely eat here again. read more
