I finally had some time off work and decided to just get it done. Nearby Roofing was so responsive, kind, and fair that I feel they deserve every word in this 5-star review. I hired them to replace my old TPO roof. Matt recommended that I replace the roof with a new TPO system, but because our old roof had caused a lot of issues in the past, I insisted on having a different type of roof installed, so we had them install torch down and wow I am very happy with my new roof and feel like I made the right choice. The installation required some extra hot work inspections, which, to my understanding, are an additional step added because of the way this specific material is applied. One of the main reasons for me wanting to have the roof replaced is because our home insurance company had been giving us a very difficult time renewing our insurance, to the point that this year they decided they would not renew it if we did not replace the roof. We had a deadline, and I asked Matt if he could finish the job by then. He kept his word and was done with all inspections on time. We met with six contractors, which in hindsight was too many as it only left us confused and not knowing which company was the right choice for our roof replacement. Looking back, I would rely more on word-of-mouth recommendations and not just on online reputation. After getting multiple quotes and hiring a contractor who caused a mess and left us with an open roof, having Nearby Roofing step in was a breath of fresh air. Matt was so concerned with how the previous contractor left our house that he pushed us into his busy schedule and even gave us a discounted price, just to help out. His pricing was fair and the contract was transparent. Unlike the previous company, Matt made sure to obtain a city permit before starting the work. He and his crew were responsible and showed up early and on time each day. My roof required replacement of damaged plywood, rotted fascia, and new gutter installation. We also had some interior drywall work from leaks that had occurred due to improper installation by the prior contractor. Nearby Roofing fixed it at no extra cost. Everything was properly handled, and when I requested some small touch-ups, they were promptly addressed. They went above and beyond to leave the property clean, and spent hours making sure there were no leftover nails in the backyard and driveway. We got several estimates. Teal City wasn't the cheapest and it wasn't the most expensive, but Alex (the owner) and John (the estimator) were knowledgeable and clear. They even coordinated with our solar company to get the panels down and then back up at the end with the right kind of mounts. They recommended white PVC. We had several very hot days during the work, and we noticed immediately that the house stayed cooler than it had in the past. Teal City shows up. They work fast and they work clean. Summary: My experience with Israel and his crew was wonderful from start to finish and I cannot…read morerecommend them enough. I want to start at the very beginning of the process my fiancé and I went through in remodeling our kitchen. We interviewed all kinds of people. Some of them seemed really great at first but then became really pushy, were unwilling to answer questions or turned out to be poor communicators. My favorite guy made snide comments about the cleanliness of our home. It was astonishing. Also, more than one contractor outright said they wouldn't do the tile we wanted in the kitchen because it was too much work. Again, another bizzare turn in the interviewing process to be denied something we were more than willing to pay for. We are a younger couple getting into the swing of home ownership and I think a lot of assumptions were made off of how we looked and the process we were in of updating our home. I wanted to explain all of that because I want to show how different HH Tone was from all of the others we interviewed. First of all, they're just really nice. Not the sickly sweet nice that people who want your business hit you with (while making comments about your house being dirty). Just straight up good person nice. We explained what we wanted, Israel started taking measurements and talked to us about the kinds of things we could do and wrapped it up by asking us to provide an estimate from another contractor we were getting an estimate from so he could see what he could do. He gave us the best price by far. Better yet, everything we said we wanted, including the tile floor, he said he would do. What I really appreciated was a point he made throughout the renovation process: He would provide his opinion if he thought something may not be the best idea, but at the end of the day it was our kitchen and he would do whatever we wanted. His guidance was extremely valuable to us. My fiancé and I were so excited to get rid of the original, small 70s kitchen that after demolition we realized we didn't have an actual solid plan. Definitely not how you want to enter into a remodeling adventure but very us. We turned to Israel and his son for advice many times and the advice they gave always helped lead us into a direction we wanted to go into. I cannot stress enough how much it wasn't Israel making decisions for us but just helping us along the path when we asked. Also, it was great to have someone tell us what we needed to figure out next because I was scrambled. I had no experience with remodeling up to this point. Everyone he worked with had knowledge that was invaluable and were great teachers. I sincerely enjoyed every person who worked on our kitchen and every one of them did amazing work. Which brings me to another point, I was very comfortable with having everyone who was a part of HH Tone in my home. Clearly, there is a job that needed to be done no matter what but given how much time you ultimately spend with the same people coming into your home day after day, it was really wonderful to be working with people who I legitimately felt comfortable around and enjoyed having there. I was really pretty sad when the work was done because of how much I came to enjoy having them around. HH Tone ticks all of the boxes. Our kitchen is beautiful, it fits our dream of what we wanted, and the HH Tone crew were absolute professionals in everything they did. They act on the feedback they are given and really just want to leave you happy. An especially important point for me, I genuinely enjoyed having them in my space. I never felt more than the normal amount of awkward that comes with getting to know new people and by the end I was legitimately sad to see them go. We will definitely be using them again for our future renovations on our home and I would recommend anyone else to use them too.
