A friend of ours had recommended Priuskings service as they used them for their hybrid battery replacement a few years ago. They had very good things to say about the company and the technician. We did not want to put a brand new hybrid battery in our old 2007 camry as the dealership wanted almost $6000 fir this job. After researching pricing from competitors, we decided to choose prius kings because of their warranty and pricing. We contacted them and they scheduled an appointment a few days later. Their technician Max was very friendly and arrived on time for our appointment. He first friendly and arrived on time for our appointment. After confirming a hybrid battery issue he moved forward with the installation which only took about 35 minutes. Prius Kings provides an affordable way to replace your hybrid battery, but there are some important things to know before you do business with them. The most important point is that the Prius King replacement batteries are not reliable and will need to be replaced frequently. Your Prius hybrid battery consists of 28 modules with 6 cells in each module for a total of 168 battery cells. Prius Kings refurbishes those cells and can replace modules or your entire hybrid battery. However, those refurbished 168 cells provide a lot of points that can fail. If a handful of cells fail to hold a full charge, then low voltage from a module will cripple your Prius. When buying a hybrid battery from Prius Kings, you must buy the longest possible warranty coverage. In my experience, the Prius Kings hybrid battery failed every 6-18 months - 12 months on average. The warranty covers the cost of the replacement modules, but it doesn't cover the labor cost of having a Prius Kings technician replace the modules/battery. That labor charge averaged $400-500 each time the battery failed. Before Prius Kings will respond to your request to replace your battery, they will ask you to provide pictures of the failure codes from your car's computer port. Take your car to a local auto-parts store and they will generate the failure codes for free. Use your phone to take pictures of the failure codes. Don't bother taking your car to the dealer to get this done. The dealer will charge too much to check your hybrid battery and won't understand that you need actual pictures of the failure codes. Prius Kings is slow to respond to requests to replace your battery. In my experience, it can take 4+ weeks to get everything done. First, the Prius Kings office may take a couple weeks to respond to the online request. Try calling the office after you submit the online request. Then it will take a couple more weeks to get the work scheduled. Here in the Boston area, there's one technician and he primarily works on weekends. He's slow to respond with his availability and I waited 2 weeks before he provided potential dates for getting the work done. You'll be asked to pay for the work before the technician comes out. Read the fine print in the contract. There are additional charges depending on how you pay. In my case, they insisted that I pay by credit card, then afterwards they charged me an additional 3% for credit card processing. When I complained about the hidden charge, they said it was my fault for not reading the fine print in the contract. The Prius King technician comes to your house and does all the work. As part of this process, he resets the computer in your car. If you've played with any of the computer settings to do anything like turning off the reverse beeps, then ask him to restore those settings. Once you head down the path of using Prius Kings to replace your hybrid battery, you'll be stuck with them for however long you keep that Prius because it's too expensive to switch to a different hybrid battery. read more

Had another shop remove the battery prius king installed and it was a garbage battery intended to only last for 2000 miles. We did not know to expect from Priuskings as we found their service on the Internet by doing a local search for hybrid battery repair shops. Priuskings came highly recommended and we were happy we chose them for service. A lot of shops don't know much about hybrid cars and do not even know how to diagnose them properly but these guys really do luckily. I would definitley suggest priuskings service to anyone that owns an old hybrid vehicle like myself. I was getting ready to junk my 2008 Toyota Camry until I found priuskings after doing an Internet search. Their phone staff was very friendly and gave me a few different hybrid battery options to choose from. I went with a five-years warranty and the price included installation and labor and sales tax. If I could give them a zero or negative star review I would. I was sold a defective refurbished battery in March that was installed improperly leading to massive drivability problems in June. I'm now out 2k, and due to my horrendous experience (see my previous review) ended up doing my hybrid battery repairs with the official Toyota service center. Stay far away from this company. The biggest issues are that the battery lasted less than three months before it failed. Yes, I could have removed the battery shipped it to Prius Kings for warranty repair, but then we would have to be without the vehicle during the time the battery was in shipment and being repaired. Furthermore, even if we chose to send the battery back for repair, I still don't feel the battery would be trustworthy. I wouldn't feel comfortable with taking the car on a trip out of town out of concern we might get stranded due to an unreliable battery from Prius Kings. He had all the correct equipment to properly diagnose my Lexus and understood the problem. I had my car at 3 different shops and wish I had taken my car to Priuskings first. The technician was able to replace my inverter coolant pump and my failing 12v battery in about 1hr. The other shop in Queens i went to wanted to sell me a hybrid battery and that was not even the issue. I was glad Priuskings were honest and did not try to sell me an expensive hybrid battery I did not need. The 12v battery was only $240 and they installed it free of charge since they were also replacing the pump. Great company to deal! read more

The battery will most likely need to be repaired under warranty which will run you close to 1k. Warranty fix is "free" but the removal, shipping, installation is not. Unless you know how to ship a hazmat item on a pallet then this may be for you. Just pick up a new battery at Toyota for 3.5k will save you a lot of frustration, and it costs the same! I spent $2k on this company and have had such a hard time I just went and bought a new battery with 3 year warranty at Toyota. Shame. read more

We went to 3 different Toyota dealerships seeking service on our 2008 Toyota Prius and none of them wanted anything to do with fixing our car and only wanted us to trade it in for less thasn $500 and purchase a new vehicle. Priuskings provided a great service and even came to our home to install their hybrid battery. We will never go to the dealership again for anything especially since we know about Prius kings. If I can give this place a 0 I would. Avoid at all costs for your own good!! They installed a faulty battery in my car earlier this year, instead of replacing it on warranty which I had they tried to "repair it". Not even a few days later the hybrid battery emergency lights came back on. I notified them again (only method of communication is email), and I've been waiting for over a month just for them to come take a look at my car again. I have not been able to use my car for over a month now though I am a full time student and work (aka I need my car everyday) since it now struggles to accelerate. Not to add they will ignore you for dayssss you have to chase them down to get even a simple response. They will say they are working on getting an appointment scheduled for you, then a month later, your car will still be parked away. There is so much more I can get into. When my hybrid battery died, Prius Kings offered much better price and service than any other option. It was a little strange communicating only by e-mail, not by phone, but Prius Kings responded very quickly and answered my questions directly. I was told that they would send someone to me that day (in a different borough) to replace the battery. Max from Prius kings is a fantastic and knowledgeable technician. He came to our house upstate and repaired our hybrid battery in less than 1 hour. He used the same diagnostic computer that the Toyota dealership uses and was able to determine what was wrong with our hybrid battery. Upon doing so he was able to perform a repair for way less money. Luckily we did not need to purchase a new hybrid battery and our old 2005 Toyota Prius is now running the same as it did before. DONT CALL THEM OR BUY THEIR BS WARRANTY. So here is what is happening to us currently. We have prius kings come out to our garage in LB and they install their warranty battery. it messes up almost instantly and so they come back and only change some cells. Now the car doesn't work again and it's due to the battery. After hearing my options with lawyers, there is a case as they know they have defunct cells and use it on their customers cars. I'm going to call up the LBC prius kings today one last time to see if they will come back and fix their mess and actually get me a bettery that works. let's see what they say. read more

There seem to be many companies these days trying to sell batteries on ebay and over the internet. It is nice to find a service like Prius Kings that has actual technicians and batteries in stock and know what they are doing. These hybrid batteries are definitely not something you want to be shipping in the mail or want to waste money on from some no-name company. Once you install a battery and it does not work you're s**t out of luck trying to get your money back. We felt confident with Prius kings after talking to one of their representatives on the telephone and he seemed quite knowledgeable about our vehicle's problems along with any potential issues that may have caused a battery problem. Their technician Atila arrived on time the following day with a hybrid battery to install. He performed many tests before proceeding and was confident that the hybrid battery was the problem. We had shopped around with many service providers and definitely were not going to use the Toyota dealership. After a long conversation with one of the technicians at Prius Kings we decided to go with them because they offered the best price and warranty around. They definitely knew a lot about hybrid vehicles and were able to answer all of our questions professionally and were extremely helpful. They sent a technician out to perform a diagnostic and told us everything that was wrong with the our car. We didn't need a hybrid battery replacement which the other battery sellers told us (of course) but the technician found we had corrosion on one of the components that was causing the battery to fail. They were able to replace the converter or inverter with a used part for only $280 which was $1400 brand new. They had a different technician replace the part in about one hour and then they continued to test the vehicle with other computers and a long test drive. The car is running great again and performing like it did previously. Prius kings are very professional and understand what is happening with these vehicles. read more

I had my Hybrid Battery replaced by PriusKings on Dec. 3rd, 2022. I paid $1608 for their battery, labor and transportation costs. On April 6th, 2023 the battery went bad. I contacted them via email and gave them a copy of my invoice and payment proof. They refused to honor their warranty based on the excuse that I didn't have a paper receipt. This receipt wasn't given to me by their tech that replaced my battery. I reported them to the Calif. Bureau of Automotive Repair. The BAR rep. tried to contact them several times. He finally got a hold of a Priuskings customer service rep. using the (415) phone shown on their site. This rep. refused to give him any info. This company appears to be running a scam. My hybrid battery on our 2006 Prius was near death... got the triangle of death code. Thankfully the car made it all the way from the UES to Brooklyn. They replaced my battery in about an hour and the whole process was very easy. I was a little skeptical about them not having a garage to pull into-they just fixed it out on the street. But thankfully everything has worked out fine so far. My only wish was that they could have come to me--which they originally said they would for an extra charge that I would have happily paid. Apparently they didn't have anyone available for that though so I had a very stressful 8 mile drive--going over the Brooklyn Bridge I was just hoping the car wouldn't die. Prius King *** 02/26/2024 Reached out to Prius King about getting the battery installed, and was advised that they would install battery, they requested to know what codes were visible with the diagnostic code. Advised them that mechanic diagnosed car and the code that was visible was a code stating hybrid battery is bad. Was informed that I needed to choose a battery plan. I chose a battery plan purchase for a battery with a 3-year warranty at the purchase price *******. A invoice was sent over for a the plan which also included a s diagnostic charge of ****** for them also diagnosing the vehicle and that balance was due 03/12/2024. 02/28/2024 I received a call from ****, the technician of ************** stating that the vehicle was ready for pickup and that the job was complete. drove from ********** to ******* **, about an hour drive. Upon arrival we spoke with the technician and paid him in the amount ******* cash, he then handed us a written receipt for services being paid in full. I proceeded to get into vehicle and start and reverse out of driveway at that time all warning lights appeared on vehicle dash. I then placed car into drive and drove back up driveway, got **** back over to vehicle and explained to him that all lights on the dash was lighting up, even light symbols that I have never seen before, nor was visible when car was dropped off. He looked at dash light and apologized and requested that he needed to keep car to run more testing. He also stated that he was sorry for having us come all this way and the car not being completed properly. Before explaining my terrible experience with Priuskings, I do want to mention that the actual technician that fixed my battery was excellent and great to work with. This review is in no way a reflection of him and I appreciate his customer service and hard work. On March 26th, 2021 I purchased a battery from Priuskings with a lifetime warranty. On June 23rd, 2022 my battery died and they fixed it for me but then my battery died again on May 28th, 2023. I contacted Priuskings and they asked for the mileage of the car. After providing the mileage, they told me that I did not put enough miles on the car and my warranty was void. They claimed that the warranty has a requirement to drive 5,500 miles per year yet they never told me that. Even their own technician stated he had never heard about a mileage requirement. Also, I did put 4,888 miles on the car and the only reason I didn't make the 5,500 requirement was because the battery died months before the year was over. Priuskings did not care about this at all and voided my entire warranty. Despite the warranty being void, I really needed to get my car back on the road so they said they would do a one-time fix for $150. I went ahead and agreed to the cost and shortly after their technician contacted me asking for the error code on the car. When I explained to him that I was getting different codes every time he stated that it would be best to bring the entire car to him so he could better diagnose the problem instead of bringing the battery alone. After diagnosing the car issue, the technician stated that he could change the battery for $250 plus tax. He had the car fixed the next day, but he then let me know there was an issue with the invoice which was now stating I owed $431. The next day I received an email from Priuskings saying there was a mistake and I needed to pay $431. I emailed them back and told them that their technician had quoted me $250 plus tax. Then a representative from Priuskings called me and began to tell me how their technicians do not quote prices and that I needed to pay the $431. I asked the representative how I, as a customer, am supposed to know that their technicians do not quote prices and that's when the representative began to raise his voice at me. He aggressively asked me why I took the car to the technician instead of the battery and I tried to explain that the technician asked me to bring the car. He started to yell at me stating that I didn't even have the technician's number and acted like there was no way I could have even talked to the technician. It seemed as though the representative thought I was lying to him but of course I had the technician's contact information because he had both called and texted me to schedule drop off and pickup of my car. I literally had to ask the representative to stop yelling at me so that I could explain this to him. It was only then that the representative finally agreed to charge me the $250 plus tax that I was quoted. Sorry for the lengthy post but I want to ensure others are warned about the absolutely atrocious customer service that I experienced with Priuskings. Since these batteries are reconditioned you will definitely have to get them fixed so for those considering making a purchase with this company please keep in mind that they may void your warranty, try to charge you more than the quoted cost, and then completely disrespect you when you are simply trying to make sense of their mess. Had I known the warranty was going to be voided and the hassle in trying to work with this company, I would have just purchased a new reliable battery from Toyota. read more

These people are running a scam. I had the exact experience other terrible reviews had. Honestly the experience was traumatic. They tried to cancel my appointment 10 minutes before when I was driving from 40 minutes away. The battery they put in that they failed on the way home. After much back-and-forth They made me bring my Prius to them a second time. They put in a battery. They kept having me leave and not watch. I came back the techs didn't even know how to start the car. They literally said how do you start this thing screaming to me. Then I started it and they said I was all set to go. I asked them if they even test drove it and they said yes to my amazement. As I felt uncomfortable being by myself, with the strange man, I didn't really feel I was in a place to challenge it. Almost immediately I was noticing my Prius wasn't working like it was before. Again more back-and-forth. Finally I took it to another shop and they told me exactly what the problem was. I got on the phone with Prius kings who just continue to go back-and-forth about the codes. Finally, I put them on the phone with my mechanic. The people still continue to be rude. BE CAREFUL. If your battery fails during the warranty period they charge you to replace it. When my hybrid battery needed replacing the Toyota dealer quoted me a higher price than Priuskings. Priuskings seemed nice, were available (they are very often busy), and came out to replace the battery, which had a year warranty. This would have been a five star review if I had written one then. But it's always better to wait, to get the "big" picture. The "new" (obviously refurbished) battery from Priuskings died 7 months later. It was a bad time (of course). I was in the middle of moving and needed a car. Priuskings was too busy to accommodate me. They did try, saying a tech would come out at 10pm (after working all day). I'm not going to do that to anyone. Then they let me know that it would cost an additional $265.88, during a time that was already costly. That, however, is immaterial. A warranty should cover the cost of the battery, period. They put a faulty battery in the car. I shouldn't have to pay them to take out and replace the bad battery they put in there in the first place. How do I know the next battery they put in would be good? Then I would have to pay again. It seemed like a no-win situation for me. I liked Priuskings, but sorry to say like too many warranties these days, theirs fell short. read more

Leaving a review because the good reviews are why I first went to Prius Kings. These guys are crooks and don't know what they are doing. Any real work they do they bring to the mechanic around the corner (who are actually great mechanics -- Clinton Hill Auto Parts -- use them instead!). Only time they actually fixed something themselves was to replace a battery -- sold me a bad/cheap version and 7 months later when I had battery issues again (and told them - but you replaced the battery half a year ago) they hang the phone up on me. Great reviews, I was excited to be saving money and having someone come to my house to fix my Prius. That was 9/2020 and I was so happy, paid in cash to get a better deal. After he left I emailed Aric right away because the tech did not give me a receipt. Twice he sent me emails saying the receipt was attached but I never got it! Most people write reviews right away as I did giving Priusking a 5 star rating. 3 months later, the hybrid battery went again. Called Aric, said they would waive the "travel fee" and if I paid in cash they would only charge $200, the tech came out, paid in cash, again no receipt. December, 2021, again the hybrid battery is not working! I was very upset. This time, PriusKing has no tech and no battery. Then, I'm told that without a receipt I will not get another battery. Aric stopped taking my calls. They would only deal with me through email. now the email changes and David is my new contact, no phone call, just emails. David states nobody hands over $1,700 in cash and doesn't get a receipt. All of the emails were sent to David, proving that Aric tried and couldn't send the receipt as an attachment. I asked many times, his name, job title, and managers name. Never answered. i was told there was nothing more to discuss. The last message said they would not deal with me anymore because of my agressive behavior. Any further communication would need to be mailed to customer relation, Prius Corporate Center in LA. I sent a certified letter immediately with all of the details and I also printed ALL of the email messages. Tracking the letter, they received it on January 3rd. I never received the return receipt or and other communication. Priuskings is taking cash, not giving receipts, and just ignoring you, and getting away with it. The owner Eric patiently talked through the options with me after my Prius died, giving me solid advice and troubleshooting before I even agreed to have him fix the car. After diagnosing the problem the car was fixed in just a day and a half. I'd recommend anyone with a hybrid to visit Priuskings for great service and just for the pleasure of dealing with an earnest, honest mechanic which is unfortunately rare in NYC. After a nightmare of dealing with the Toyota of Manhattan dealership who wanted to upsell me on literally every single part and created "problems", Priuskings will be the only place I go. We needed a new 12 volt battery for our 2007 Prius. We also thought more might be wrong with the car. Instead of charging us for a diagnostic that may not be needed, like a dealer would, Aric recommended we just replace the battery. He came out to our car and replaced it when the car wouldn't start.
