When Alex arrived, he immediately commented how nice our house is and had ideas to go with the siding that we were looking to replace. His team were respectful and considerate of our needs: as we sometimes work from home, there was a time that we had to ask them to pause some construction while we were on work calls. Alex made some siding suggestions that we never thought about and are very happy with his ideas. He also suggested a change with our front porch lighting and soffit and WOW, we love it. Regarding cost, GAB Construction were very reasonable, and the little additions that they did were well worth it! Pricing was very competitive. Alex and his crew did a fantastic job installing my deck stairs and porch, they are beautifully done and very sturdy. Far better than what we had before. They were there within 2 days of hire and completed the work within 2 days. We told them not to paint but Alex threw in paint for just the cost of materials, which was nice. Although, I wish I had some say on the color since they didn't ask beforehand and I would have loved a natural stain instead. The crew was very kind, they'd even bring my packages into the garage for me and make sure to close the garage door when they were done. The work is sturdy, done right, and I feel confident will last. My only point of advice is to just be more mindful of the garden. I had just purchased and planted 6 new plants and had a succulent ground cover I had been working to grow out for years. It was all so trampled I thought maybe they had dug it out at first. It would have been nice to get warning so I could dig it up myself (since it was fresh planted) or for them to step around it. Overall, I'd definitely hire GAB again (and likely will to finish our deck soon) and will reccomend them to friends and family. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with our first decking contractor and had to fire them mid-project. When we reached out to Harbor Deck, they were one of the only companies willing to take on our project because another contractor has already done work. They helped us identify incorrect and unsafe work completed by the first contractor and developed a resolution plan. Both John and Adam with Harbor Deck come out to our home multiple times to provide us an accurate bid and to ensure they understood our vision for our deck. The quote was fair/reasonable for the scope of the work. Once Harbor Deck and Fence began working on our deck, they were efficient, friendly, and frequently checked in to ensure we were satisfied with their work. I have included photos to highlight their workmanship. Our hand railing is not only beautiful but extremely sturdy and safe. The decking and stairs are installed to code and provide us amazing functionality. John did a final deck walk through and quickly sent out his team to complete the few preferential adjustments we requested. At first he seemed kind, we had a lovely conversation and related on many subjects, but he was also very impatient, inconsistent and rude. He lied to me saying he waited 20 minutes at our gate which was untrue based on our texts, then he blocked me due to his own mistakes. This seems to be a theme with him. When I connected with him at the end of June this year we booked a 5pm time slot for him to view the property and at 5:06pm the day of the appointment he texts me saying he had to reschedule because he forgot his phone. I was confused, but I gave him a chance because life happens. Finally he was able to come and do a quote. He came to the property, he wasn't on time but it didn't bother me. We had a great conversation when he came where I thought I had found the perfect guy to build our deck. Then later he texted saying he needed to do some more measurements, I asked when; then he said actually it's ok he doesn't need to do measurements anymore. Then some time passed and he said he actually did need to do more measurements. So we had to arrange to meet again, but that was a very busy time for me so it was delayed. Finally we agreed on today, to which he said he'd come to our property at 2-3pm; then he confirmed he would be here at around 3pm. I rearranged my plans and agreed. Then at around half past 2 he said he would be at the property in "around 30 minutes" for measurements, which would be around 3pm, but because he came 10 minutes early and I was in the restroom so I didn't reply to his text of being here 10 minutes earlier. At 3:00 I saw his texts where he said he had arrived (early) and said "I'm leaving bye" at 3pm... the time he had said he would arrive originally. He said he was waiting at our gate for 20 minutes which was a lie, he was waiting for 10 because he was early, and I did not expect that. I was in the restroom as well briefly thinking he would arrive at 3. He lied about the situation and blocked me even though I apologized for being in the bathroom, despite this situation not being my fault. Because I had thought he was a gracious understanding and compassionate man, many reviews paint him as a kind man as well. But he has so little patience, and a terrible attitude. Maybe he was just in a bad mood today, I don't know. It doesn't mean I should've been treated this way. All I wanted was a deck and what I got was disrespect.

Jason and his team, Bently and Rylan, arrived bright and early each weekday morning and worked their tails off regardless of the weather, much of which was nasty winter weather! They are all pros and just good guys to have on the property. Jason was on-site throughout the entire process and worked as hard as his guys did. His super creative design ideas, absolute perfectionism, and craftsmanship are of the highest value. He and his guys build as though it's their own home. We asked for some outside-the-box solutions, and Jason surpassed our wildest dreams. He also installed beautiful deck lighting and landscape lighting. Yes, we had to wait about six months after receiving the estimate - they're busy guys. Yes, it was expensive, but he's worth it, and much of that was our choice. I'm disappointed, but also feel I dodged a bullet if this is the kind of communication I can expect from this company. Don't waste your time.

The most negative experience I had with any contractors. Our project was to rebuild a deck and…read moreinstall polycarbonate roof panels. I felt like it was the first time this team actually saw roof panels and had no idea how to install them. They completely ignored installation manual and assembled them as they thought was correct. Right after the first rain the whole roof leaked in multiple places. They came back with tubes of silicone and spread horrific amount all over the roof. By doing that they left prints, including hand prints of silicon over the clear roof so it's visible when you stand on the deck. Next rain, everything leaked again. I asked them to properly install the panels and showed instructions from the manufacturer but they ignored it once again and came back with stronger silicone. They replaced one panel that was completely covered with white silicone to a new one and I noticed that it was a different panel (from 8 others). The response was that they didn't know where to buy the same panel so they just bought a random one. After the last silicone attempt the roof is still leaking and I will have to pay again for full replacement next summer. As nothing worked this team just decide to never show up again as it's apparently too hard to fix the roof or install it properly. Of course they kept the money that I gave them with no issues. End result: leaking roof, lost $$$, looking for new contractors to completely replace the installation with new panels.
