People/clients could easily see this as unprofessional & inconsiderate after paying for personal one on one training in full to only have 3/4 of their attention. That is absurd. Whether you're a newbie or a professional body builder- your paid training sessions is YOUR paid TIME. In all of my years of utilizing personal trainers I had never experienced such a thing at any other gym. I was confused, and asked about it. He told me that's how he rolls. He was not only late several times for my training sessions, but he didn't make up the time on the back end. The he stopped showing up. Seriously. He owed me two more sessions that were paid for in full. At $80 per session that's $160 that he stole essentially. Travis was his name. I don't know if he still trains there, but I had asked my friend what heck was going on with this trainer whom he highly recommended to me. My friend said that I apparently demasculated him by asking about the dual training with others that he just didn't want to train with me anymore. The guy's the size of a man truck but my inquiry over shared training time that was not a part of my package cut his ego so deeply that he resorted to such petty thievery by essentially stealing money by skipping services paid for. How gross. Incapable of a professional and mature discussion so instead he ghosted me and took my money. Fact. I would never recommend going here or training with someone so uncool, unprofessional, petty, and definitely immature. It was a shitty experience for someone who's friendly to a fault! I've been going to this gym now for about 2 years. They offer great high intensity weight training…read more& cardio classes! (also have yoga, boxing, & spin classes I've yet to try). The staff care more about getting you to workout than enforcing strict cancellation/sign up policies, or squeezing you for pennies (the only strict sign up/cancellation I've heard about is for spin classes). You won't get unbearable unlimited texts & calls from them or hard sales pitches like the new workout chain that recently opened in Bay Ridge, good god! You can pay-per-class, and at $25 it's a pretty good deal! But I have an unlimited membership. Here are my suggestions: - Beginners: take Anthony or Daniel. Super helpful & approachable. If you're feeling intimidated, do Saturday @ 10:30am with Daniel. The time & day make it a smaller class. Or Anthony Tuesday @4pm. - Toning w a cardio focus: Total Body class with Anthony, Aiden, or Daniel. (Bernie will fill in, & she's also great). - Muscle building focus: Bernie has THE BEST straight forward weight lifting classes. Especially Arms. She doesn't add tons of cardio. - Booty toning: Aiden's class is legit cheeks on fire. - Weight loss / cardio / fat burn: Jose's classes. He's a really great motivator. His style is much more boot camp drill sergeant. He's doing it so you don't quit! If I could add anything: I'd love an exclusive Ab Only class! Slow, focused ab/deep core the entire time. ESPECIALLY upstairs with the gym equipment (cable machine, captains chair, roman chair, pull up, etc) used for each station, with the remaining people doing ab floor work as we rotate. No cardio. I just want to murder my abs! They also plan special events. They recently held a unique class with a drummer playing live hip hop / dance music with the lights low. I really loved that class! The petty monitors at the front will screech @ you and beg you to rejoin months before your time is up. Yes they are that desperate and pathetic. Due to a number of reasons, I would like a full refund. I will no longer be attending Dolphin Fitness for my workouts. I am no longer comfortable working out there and each year I find my workouts at this club less and less enjoyable. My decision is based on a number of reasons. 1. I am tired of dealing with the minefield of overly crowded equipment on the workout floor from Dolphin's other previously closed down clubs. It's not only an eyesore but it's also probably a fire hazard and increasingly more dangerous. My bruised up shins are the proof. 2. The men's locker room is just as filthy, gross, unappealing and inconvenient as it's always been there are always gnats flying all over the one urinal in the entire gym. It's tiny, crammed and uncomfortable. Given the fact that it hasn't changed at all in the 15 years that I've been a member, other than a couple of new lightbulbs that have recently been installed. Bravo. 3. The consistently abysmal attitude from half of the cleaning staff is annoying. I shouldn't pay to deal with attitudes from miserable people. 4. The increasingly inept decision making from the management is concerning. There have also been more and more instances of management siding with increasingly troublemaking personal trainers who are always starting fights with members over equipment. The gym is overcrowded and inconvenient but the management will always side with the trainers because it brings money to the club. 5. Dolphin fitness clubs is clearly a dying brand. All other DF clubs are closed down, probably for good reason. This last ditch effort to renovate the last DFC to try to make it look like something other than an old bowling alley with decades old weight equipment strewn all over the floor is laughable. They will most likely be out of business entirely soon as all their other locations are long gone. You really take your chances joining. Stay far away from this garbage club. There are plenty of options better than this terrible establishment.

At one point they already sent me to collections and I had to pay around $120 just to resolve it. The customer support is awful. There is basically no real support inside the gym, and online support is email-only. They take forever to respond and often just send automated payment links instead of actually helping. The gym itself often smells bad, especially like sweaty socks, and there are barely any employees around who can actually assist members. The biggest issue is how they handle memberships and contracts. They advertise cheap monthly prices, but they do not clearly explain: the 12-month contract commitment, the annual maintenance fee, or the fact that cancelling early requires paying a $62 buyout fee. A lot of younger people and students sign up without fully understanding what they are agreeing to because these important details are buried in fine print and checkbox agreements. Even after I paid the cancellation fee, their system kept asking me to pay again. This has honestly been one of the most frustrating gym membership experiences I've ever had.

The spinning class was taught by Paul and he pushed us HARD. He also made sure everyone was all set in the beginning, had a set of weights for arm exercises, and sometimes check people's forms while spinning. He kept me motivated to keep going and had great music. One thing I didn't like was that the bikes don't have a number for the resistance level; you just turn a knob and judge it based on how difficult it feels riding the bike. My opinion is that a quantifiable factor makes way for measuring improvement in fitness levels and health. The total body conditioning class was taught by Tom and I don't want to give away too much, but the class was amazing. It truly was total body; I came away with everything feeling sore in a good way. There were two sets of each workout (which equates to a round, for me) and then we jump rope 100 times. Each set had a variety of moves, some of them new to me, and I've already done many workout videos and been to other fitness classes. The workout area was also unforgiving yet encouraging. It was dim and mostly black, with the materials needed for the workouts all set up with minimal space taken up. However, we faced each other and Tom when working out, so this egged us on. In response to other review(s): Yes, this place isn't very big overall and doesn't seem to have the locker room that conventional gyms have. I always come in my gym clothes and leave in my gym clothes, and I literally only bring my phone and a water bottle. I also can't speak to how much each class costs and whether it's worth it or not, but judging by experiences themselves, I certainly enjoyed the classes.
