I have an older Baldwin lock that was binding and was hard to unlock. I called a couple of locksmiths and was told I would need to rebuilt it or I would need to get a new lock. Sean came over and said the lock only needed to be adjusted and lubed. He told me that to replace the locks guts would cost $500 but it would be a waste of money. A lot of other people would have sold me a new lock but Sean sold me something much better... honest great service. When I do need a new lock I know who I'm going to call. read more

I called Pro-Key yesterday afternoon about having a side gate lock replaced as I had just replaced our pool service man and we were changing the locks. I spoke to Sean who was very polite and professional answering every question I had. I agreed to have this company do the work, which soon included changing our front door lock as well as it was getting sticky and potentially unreliable. Sean said he would be here this morning between 9 and 9:30am and he was right on time. Over sells. Our guy arrived spot on time and spoke only to my husband at first. He claimed all of our locks needed to be replaced and were over 30 years old, and the grand total was over $1000 for the labor & new hardware/re-keying. He also said that Kwikset locks are not safe & they can easily be picked.... (My old house was Kwickset and my neighbor who was a locksmith could not pick them with all of his professional locksmith tools when I was locked out of my house last summer, so I feel they were decent) My husband came back to me asking me what I thought we should do. The service rep went back out to the car to "let us discuss". I thought the price was way high & we decided to get another quote. Then the guy came back to our door & said he could re-key our entire house for $350. I did not trust him at this point & I went with my gut. We paid him a check for $65 for the "service call" which was basically him trying to up sell us. We went with another locksmith who charged us $140 to re-key all of our locks & he told us what we had was sufficient. read more

BEWARE! I called because I needed a front door handset installed in a door. Sean answered the phone when I called. I was very specific when I told him what I needed, which was a new handset installed in a residential door. I told him he will need to drill a new hole for the handset and the strike. Sean told me the cost would be approx $150.00 to $200.00. I agreed, and he told me he could come over the next day to do the work. I was not home, but my wife was. When he arrived he looked at the new door handle I needed installed and told my wife the cost would be $325.00. My wife called me at work. I spoke to Sean again and advised him that is not the price he quoted me the day before. He said that the handset we wanted installed required more work even though I was very specific on the type of handset I had purchased when I originally spoke to him. I told him NOT to do the work because it was NOT the amount we agreed on. Sean told my wife that he wanted a $65.00 service fee for the visit even though he did no work! Sean NEVER told me of a non refundable service fee when I originally called, otherwise I would have NEVER hired him! My wife paid him the $65.00 simply to get rid of him even though he did no work at all and was afraid because she was alone. I called another locksmith (Global) and they came out the next day and installed the handset for $85.00 in less than an hour. read more
