In other words, this once beautiful instrument had lost much of its luster! As the result of a referral from a respected friend, I contacted Piano Artisans and spoke with Amber. We also traded e-mails with me sending her photos of our piano and she explaining the options and process for restoring the finish. She was able to schedule an appointment to have the work done in our home within about a week from initial contact. The piano technician Jon showed up precisely on time and went to work polishing every inch of the piano case for a good 5 hours! At the end of the day, I almost couldn't believe my eyes. The result was nothing short of miraculous! Our piano looked like the day it was purchased over 30 years ago. No exageration. Jon was the penultimate craftsman, taking his time and making sure it was as perfect as it could be. And he was polite, courteous and professional. We figured we were looking at a major cost to repair our Sub-Zero refrigerator, which while an awesome fridge, comes with some awesome fears when we heard our rattling...as I have no idea how to fix things. I had no idea who to call, but luckily a friend of mine has done business with Mike for years and highly recommended him. Apparently, most of Mike's work to date has been word of mouth, he keeps busy that way he told me. Bottom line, Mike repaired my fridge's water line and with a few tweaks, everything was back to running smoothly and quietly. I have no real idea what he did - but I know it was all in a basic service call cost instead of a whopper of a bill he could have hit me with for not knowing any better considering he spent a good deal of time meticulously making sure he covered all the bases to make sure everything was in perfect shape. I should have went with my gut feeling when he did not show me any proof of previous work on repairs that he's done. There are tons of black spray paint specs all over my keys. The repair was NOT sanded smoothly prior to paint as you can see in my photos. The top part is still a dent but painted over. This is not results of a professional. I will have to find someone else to clean up his mess! I would not recommend him to anyone and surprised at the review he has.
