I contacted him for a tuning of my friends piano that hasn't been tuned in a long time and Schrager was able to make it sound so much better. He also showed up very promptly on the appointment time, 30 mins early which was totally fine with me. We took a chance on a pre-owned Kawai KG-2A from 1993. It probably had not been tuned in over a decade but also has not had heavy use beyond the first decade of its life. Even so, the piano's action felt buttery smooth, and I could still hear the warmth in its tone. I once had Schrager tune my Kawai K25 at my parents' house back in 2012. Naturally, I didn't have a piano with me to have him tune regularly since then. I've invited him back to service this new acquisition of mine - a 30 year-old 5'10" grand typically found in pipe dreams of folks who can only pursue music now as a hobby. Schrager was amenable and knowledgable, imparting some Kawai history and assessing the current condition of this KG-2A. And after some focused work, this instrument has regained the consistency in tonality and warmth that I knew it had potential to showcase. It wasn't bad before, and yet it's even better now. Called Shrager to do our bi annual tuning. He did some measurements and found that our piano's action was way out of whack. So, we agreed to let him take it home and overhaul it. It is a big job but, it is a very nice Yamaha Grand G2 piano from 1978. So, it takes a few days for this service. Just got the action placed back into it's 5'7" shell and now, the piano sounds and plays like new. It's sound is amazingly beautiful. The response is extremely accurate. I would give Shrager 10 stars if yelp would allow it. This guy is the most knowledgeable person in the industry. I would not trust anyone else with our piano. My girlfriend has an upright grand piano over 100 years old that originally belonged to her great grandparents. As a Christmas present I told her I would have it tuned for her as it hadn't been done in about 20 years. Based on the age of the piano we thought a piano technician was a better choice than a tuner so I contacted Schrager and he immediately responded with a basic quote and availability. He confirmed the appointment a few days before. He arrived on time (7 AM) and was pleasantly surprised by the tone, condition and prior work done almost 20 years ago. He spent the next hour meticulously bringing the piano back into tune until he was satisfied with the results. I had the privilege of hearing his talents as a pianist when he was done; it was a wonderful way to start my morning. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional and talented. I received moved my childhood piano from my parents house to my house. I had taken lessons as a child but stopped in junior high. This piano hasn't been used in probably around 24 years, so it was sounding really out of tune and some of the keys were sticking. I checked Yelp for some piano tuning services around me and decided to go with Schrager. His pricing was reasonable, he answered my questions and didn't seem pushy at all. He worked his magic and tuned and fixed the keys on my old upright piano in under 2 hours. He was very knowledgable, friendly, and professional. He was easy to talk to and explained how everything worked. After finishing the tuning, he was able to sight read and play our favorite piano piece by Yiruma, River flows you beautifully. We inherited a Kimball spinet piano from a dear friend who was moving and couldn't take their piano with them. The old piano was a half tone out of tune (some keys more) - probably hadn't been tuned in over 20 years. Upon opening it up, Schrager found another piano tech's business card in there dated April 15, 1969! Needless to say, this piano has a lot of old brittle parts. Schrager is a true professional - highly skilled all around. He gently coaxed this delicate old heirloom back in tune, and fixed all the loose keys (most of 'em). He advised us he would not tune this old piano all the way a 1/2 tone to A440 due to its age. Recommended an 80% close to not over-do it. We can work it up to A440 6 months after the piano has had a chance to settle. Left the highest and lowest keys alone to not over-strain the bridge. He took the time to explain everything to us, and we are so grateful for his sage advice. If he's got the time for us, we will be having him back regularly to keep this lovely instrument in service for years to come. We are so happy! read more

Schrager did what three other piano tuners in the last 3 months were unable to do: 1) tune every key of our piano; and 2) solve the problem we were having with strange vibrating sounds. The first piano tuner rescheduled on me two times then never showed on our last appointment. The second piano tuner came and tuned the piano, but was unable to fix the vibrating sounds. He told me there was a crack in the sound board. So I called a third piano tuner/repair man. He came over and said he couldn't fix it, gave me the number to yet another piano repair man who did nothing but waste my time on the phone asking a slew of questions only to say I was too far from him to come out. I'm only 30 mins from him. Well, third time's a charm! (or fourth, or maybe fifth now) Schrager came to the rescue! He heard the vibrating sounds, moved the piano from the wall (something the others did not do) and found four piano moving sliders that the piano movers left on the back of the piano. The sliders were causing the vibrations! Easy fix. Then he actually tuned every key of the piano and it finally sounds beautiful! Don't waste your time with anybody else. Schrager is certified by PTA, a great guy, knows what he's doing, came in with a mask and shoe covers, super easy to schedule with via text, and punctual. And I say this even though we have differing allegiances when it comes to the NFL -- that says a lot. But I'm only willing to look past his team of choice because his team didn't make it to the playoffs either. *wink* See you in 6 months, Schrager! And thank you! read more

You can tell he is very passionate about his work and takes his time with each piano. (sticky keys, soft pedal moving keys too far to the right, and a loud clicking noise when middle C was pressed.) Schrager was recommended by a friend and I called him the Friday before the MLK holiday as we had 2 broken keys on our piano that another piano technician had been unable to fix. (The felt padding had fallen off the ends of the hammers.) My son is preparing for the CM exam so we needed a working piano. Schrager got information from me over the phone, scheduled a visit for MLK day. He showed up early the day of as he was running ahead of schedule; had a bag of replacement hammers ready and was able to repair the 2 hammers on our Baldwin piano within an hour. Last month Schrager performed his 6-month tune up our Steinway Grand and as always, we are just beyond pleased with how the piano sounds afterwards. He continues to be gentle and meticulous and takes his time to tune and to answer any questions you may have. Our piano is now close to 20 years old and the tones are still rich and deep especially after Schrager's magic touch. It took us a very long time to find this perfect tuner as we had tried so many in the past. We are definitely sticking with Schrager. We will be due again in September. Schrager performed a full regulation (it definitely needed it), voicing and tuning. He did a great job. I am no great pianist. Been taking lessons for 3 years. The Yamaha Grand piano (G3) I bought had some big issues (in my mind) with the consistency on how the keys played. But, after he was done with it, it played smooth up and down the keyboard. It was awesome. The regulation made a big difference. Now, one thing that I also consider is service after-the-fact. I did have a concern. However, I was able to reach Schrager who was quick to arrange a time and come out to answer that concern. Very, very good work. I would highly recommend him. read more
