My kids have been renting skis for the last 10 years from various places. In the last few years, my oldest has had difficulty finding boots that fit properly due to his wide feet and considered stopping his favorite sport since he just couldn't get comfortable on the mountain.... 3 years ago, a friend recommended trying Pro Ski & Mountain and we haven't looked back! Especially this year's rentals were phenomenal!!! The customer service to make sure my kid's boots were on properly so he could have a good season was so welcomed and I can't imagine going anywhere else EVER! Just had a really excellent interaction at Pro Ski. My touring ski boot lost a critical pivot collar and bolt when I was out recently, and because the boots are over 7 years old, official replacement parts aren't readily available. Still, they had a look and were able to Macgyver a fix using other parts. Tried to pay, but "no charge". Wow. Thanks! I mentioned to the fellow that I have to keep my current boots going since I have an unusual size, and that replacing them isn't even an option due to my nearly-impossible-to-find size (and I am always looking). Well it turns out they had one set in my size, and because they were a couple of years old, I got 40% off - which is cheaper than pro deals I have access to. Whether you're buying your first pair of boots or are a very experienced athlete, they make you feel welcome and can take care of whatever you need. I have very difficult feet for ski boots and they were so patient and encouraging and were committed to helping me until my feet were happy! Mike is an AMAZING ski boot fitter. I've spent way too much time and effort trying to find various shoes for different sports - mountaineering, ice climbing, rock climbing, etc. So when I decided to pick skiing back up, everyone I know told me the boot was the most important part of my set up. I spent quite a bit of time with various recommended boot fitters in the Puget Sound region and Mike was the best. (I also work in the outdoor industry so I don't say this lightly.) The touring boots he put me in are fantastic, they fit better than any other boot I've bought since I started mountaineering three years ago. Dropped off our snowboards here for service since it's close to Snoqualmie. It was short notice on the weekend, but they had the boards ready for pick up by the next morning, quite a bit faster than required. The employee also gave us a tip to rub oil on our edges after riding to prevent the rust. Reasonable prices, great service. Will definitely be returning for future needs. read more

I have been coming here for a few years now and have always had a good experience. Since they moved to the new location things have only gotten better IMO. I had some boots fitted here and they really knew their stuff. I also needed skis mounted ASAP because they arrived late and I was headed on a ski trip; not only did they make it happen but the guy who did it showed up early the next morning to do so. If you want a local ski shop with experts, this is the place. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the limited availability for gear. They can get you anything you need/want, but be prepared to order it if its not in stock. read more

This is a little hidden gem. We needed toddler gloves for the mountain and swung by here. The guy who helped us was awesome! They greeted us immediately and walked us to the gloves. My wife and I went here tonight for some ski boot fitting issues. We have been struggling with our boots' fit. My wife bought her boots here and they are super good boots, but ski boots can be tough. I have very wide feet and it's unlikely an off the shelf boot would fit me. Long story short, Mike, the boot guy, is a savant. He will take an off the shelf boot and make it "custom." Probably the best customer service I've ever had. Mike, I strongly recommend that you ask for a big bonus this year because you earned it. Thank you. I haven't even picked up my boots yet and I'm this impressed! The time he spent with us was something we've never experienced. His knowledge and genuine interest was exceptional. In addition to our boots, he spent time with me picking a new binding and ski combo. Usually, most ski places just try to sell the latest and greatest and don't care about your specific needs. Part I Best ski/snow gear shop I've been to near the Seattle area. Honestly wish I found them sooner. Originally came to the shop to check out a splitboarding 101 info session with Michael. So blown away by how knowledgable he was about everything out there on the market. He did walk a through of a few boards and different binding set ups, let me take a look at each and pointed out different nuances to each. Also gave me and my boyfriend a crash course on what he keeps in his backcountry bag and why. My boyfriend is a backcountry skier so having him trying to teach me how to splitboard only goes so far. Between going to different events and visiting stores between Seattle and Bellevue, Michael has hands down given me the best tips on getting started in the backcountry, that have felt the most practical but also 0% sales-y and wants to equip me with the best knowledge and gear that makes sense for me. Part II Came back to look at backpacks for backcountry snowboarding. Literally standing there for an hour trying on every pack they had to figure out which would work best for my first pack. Martin and Michael gave great suggestions and reasons why some packs might suite me better than others, at the end of the day they let me choose what felt best without pushing any specific brands or type of pack on me. They didn't have the pack I wanted or the size, and they were happy to order it for me. Part III Rented a splitboard from them recently to head up to Camp Muir. Did everything over the phone and they set up the board perfectly. I didn't realize they closed at 5pm instead of 6pm, but managed to catch Martin and he was happy to reopen and let me return the board. I would've been happy to return it the next day and pay extra since it was my fault for not looking at the hours correctly. Also appreciated that Michael called to follow up and asked for feedback on my rental. TL;DR super knowledgeable staff , well worth the drive out to North Bend from Seattle. read more

With Pro Guiding, I've taken an AIARE 1 Avalanche Training course, an Intro to Backcountry Skiing course, and went on a Mt. Baker Mountaineering Course and Summit Climb. I highly recommend them, as their certified guides have a professional attitude and are there teach you and answer all your questions, not just "take you on a trip" or "pull you up the mountain" like other guide services. I took a mountaineering class with International Mountain Guides and learned less than 15% of what Pro Guiding taught me. Pro Guiding guides have an approach of instructing you so that you can start going out on your own right after your course in a safe and informed way with a structured trip planning process. In addition the shop staff is very knowledgeable and helpful for climbing, hiking, and backcountry ski gear needs, as well as info on current conditions in the Snoqualmie Pass area. Just got back from a 5 day learn to ski mountaineering trip on Mount Baker led by Dave Jordan of Pro Guiding. Dave and Pro Guiding rock! Leading up to the trip Martin of Pro Guiding answered our countless questions, put together a great trip for us, gave us a discount on all the gear we were missing and got us totally ready. Once it was time to hit the mountains Martin handed us off to Dave who took three of us up to Mount Baker and back on a private/custom adventure. Dave is a patient, easy going guy and passionate about the mountains. We learned a ton with him over the five days we spent on Baker. I've done a lot of crazy ski adventures (heli-skiing, cat skiing, skiing in India...) and this was by far my favorite adventure yet. Terrible customer service. I dropped my wife's skis off for a remount to match her new boots. When she went to pick them up they didn't keep the spacers under the toe pieces installed as asked. When she questioned them about it they were rude, condescending, and called her "little girl". I was quite upset and called to talk to them about it. I called three times and each time was told that I'd receive a refund for the mount and my message would be passed on to the owner who would call me. Neither of those things happened. I can no longer trust their services or their attitude. Buyer beware. read more

They did a decent job putting bindings on my son's new skis. I was hopeful when I made an appointment to get my boots fitted. I was very disappointed. After being told that they'd be right with me, 20 minutes later I I left with no fitting. I'm sure they are knowledgeable and sell quality gear, but their customer service is poor. read more

Pro Guiding Service offers ski, rock & alpine guiding -- as well as instructional trips and private trips. I've yet to take any of their trips but they also have a great ski shop in North Bend. I'm always looking for an alternative to big chain or corporate ski shops - so their tiny store on the main drag of North Bend is a real treat. It's pretty small (though they recently expanded) but carries a great assortment of high end ski gear. I'm not sure they have a broad selection for beginners (doubt they do) -- but anyone who's serious about skiing, especially backcountry skiing, should check them out. With their new expansion they have much more outerware (shells, softshells, etc) to drool over... read more

This little hole in the wall in North Bend seems to always have everything I need despite being such a small place. Anytime I need to upgrade my ski equipment these guys have what I am looking for. Although I just went to browse their selection last time I was in, the people who own this place were extremely helpful in giving me detailed information about what I was looking for while being polite to a questioning loiterer. The prices are fair (everything is expensive when it comes to skiing), but their deals during the spring and summer months are phenomenal; I just picked up an awesome coat a few months back for less than $100. The knowledge of the employees is no to be underestimated either. It is as if the people who work here hang out on mountain tops while reading product reviews and manuals in their free time. Overall this little place will have you leave with a smile on your face, and enough knowledge about skiing equipment that the next time you go skiing you will stay warm by the sheer amount of smug they will instill in you. read more
