Sam is the best. Our garage door started randomly going up and down and we noticed that Pro Tech, who had installed our door, was up the street with one of our neighbors. We briefly flagged him down to ask if he thought their frequencies were clashing with ours and causing the garage to open and close without the remote. We have used Sam since 2019 and he has done tremendous work for us. First in 2019 he replaced a our spring with a heavier duty one and did some small servicing. Fast forward to the beginning of this year, we were having trouble with the garage door sticking when it began to move up and we had Sam come out and diagnose and fix the problem. Today, Sam and his helper came and installed a new belt driven lift master garage door motor, lubricated everything and put some new rollers in. I had an absolutely stellar experience reaching out to Sam about my garage door not fully closing. After sending some pictures and making a quick phone call, he said that it was a simple fix and that he could make it out the very same day! He stopped by later that afternoon and not only replaced the missing bottom gasket and metal bracket, but as a courtesy included in the labor fee he also fixed up a bunch of other things I wasn't even aware needed improving. So now in addition to touching the ground, there's no more light leakage at the top and it slides smoother and more quietly than I thought was possible. This is my 3rd review of Sam and Pro Tech. A few months after I had new springs and brackets installed , the bolts in the wood framing the door that held the brackets, popped out. It wasn't Sam's work that was inferior . It was the wood he was driving the bolts into that was. I knew the wood had cracked from before but we both thought it was a surface crack and not going to affect securing the bolt down. Well, the wood had either dry wrought or termite damage because there wasn't enough good solid wood on the sides to drive a bolt in and have it bite down. When my daughter said the door is cockeyed and won't open , Sam came out quickly and said we have 2 choices . 1- replace that wood by using Primo his wood contractor and Sam will then come back and reinstall the brackets to the new wood or 2- we skip all that and just order a standard metal door and reframe the door opening reducing the oversized opening it has now . I opted to replace the wood on the sides and keep my old wood door . Primo was an excellent contractor and reasonable and quick . I was very happy with the new wood and Sam came out the next day to reinstall the brackets and wouldn't let me repay him. He's honest , ethical , stands by his work , makes every job perfect or he'll make it right . It doesn't get any better than that . And I'll never ever refer anyone but Sam and Pro Tech . You don't find good contractors with great customer service very often but I'm pleased to say Sam is as good as it gets . Thank you Sam for your quality work and being so honest and helpful. UPDATED: Pro Tech is my go to garage door company. They are so easy to get a hold of and they usually come within a day or two. Sam and Tim have come to my previous condo as well as my new house to service my garage doors. They always leave things better than they found it. I had replaced a lock and key mechanism and didn't have the tools to squeeze the S hook into place and they fixed my crazy zip tie work. They also just recently installed a new garage door lifter that is so quiet, I've had computers run louder than my garage! I've been so excited each time I've used my garage which seems pretty lame. Since I have a brand new lifter, I hope to not need to call for garage repair too often but if I do they will be my first call. They're an honest group and I have really appreciated the the services. Pro Tech also just replaced my parent's garage door in Penasquitos. My mom is very praticular, and she had a hard time making this big decision to get rid of her original garage door. She was absolute thrilled with not only the garage door but the service Pro Tech provided. The garage is absolute gorgeous and makes the house look so much more modern. We had a great experience with Tim at Pro Tech. His communication was timely, reliable and clear. We made an appointment for an estimate and he confirmed and showed up on time. He listened to my needs and provided two different estimates based on those needs and wants. We made an appointment for the install of our garage door opener. The day of the install he checked to see if he could arrive about 25 minutes early (I've had contractors in the past that just showed up early with no warning and that's a pretty significant inconvenience and puts a lot of pressure to let them get started even though you're not prepared for it). When Tim arrived he was friendly, thorough and professional. He did a good job and explained the workings of the system. He then cleaned up the job site before he left. That evening, we noticed that there was a 'beep' coming from the opener. I contacted Tim the next morning and he came right over to see what was happening. It turns out that the power source he tapped into is only on when the garage light is on, which isn't ideal. He offered a temporary solution and recommended that I get an electrician to convert that outlet to full power. I was very happy with Pro Tech sales AND service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more

Bad news: After he left I see he used 4 staples put his business card up on a finished wall next to opener button/entrance in a finished garage. He won't answer the phone or return text. I got another company out and that said the door weight is way to high as spring wasn't balanced. From the moment I called to when the repair was made had exceeded expectations. Tim scheduled the appointment and gave an over the phone estimate and name of person that would be doing the repairs. Sam called prior and came earlier than the time slot. Came to the door wearing a mask and was very polite about it being our choice/comfort of whether for us to wear one as well. And agreed that safety was of high priority. Once again went over pricing and what would be done. Stated that to replace a cable and spring would take about :45. Said that he'd look at all three garage doors and provide an assessment and any recommendations as well as oil them up. I responded with a known concern on one, makes a lot of noise because the casing rubs up against the beam structure. He said that he'd help with the noise at no extra cost. Let him be for about :35 and saw that it looked like he was finishing up. When I came out he said he was done, showed me what he had completed, and drastically reduced the noise of the third garage. I asked if he had any recommendations or tips for maintenance, and he said they all looked good but once the rollers need changing, to change all three doors at the same time to save money. Tim and Sam were Fantastic! My old garage door was broken badly, and wasn't worth wasting good money on. I decided to get estimates via Yelp from many good companies. Tim showed up at my home promptly, wearing a mask, and in a clean and organized work truck, explained very clearly all of my options, even showed me examples of the hardware I could have installed, listened to what I wanted and gave me a very fair and competitive quote. After he left, I thought about it and decided that this was the right guy for my job, told him he had the job, and called back the other (probably very good companies), and let them know, thanks but please don't come because I've hired someone. Tim and Sam were able to fit me in the next day, a Friday, in the afternoon. They showed up on time, with their truck carefully loaded with my new garage door, both wearing masks, and got to work. Their gear setup to get the job done is extremely professional, efficient, and provided great protection for my new garage door. They had already worked 2 other jobs that day, but were efficient, and hard working as if they were fresh on the day. Both Sam and Tim answered the minimal curiosity questions I had, and also asked me my preferences. They disassembled and loaded onto their truck my old door ( I asked them to leave the old opener since it was still good, and thought I could sell it or give it away ), and then proceeded to assemble my new door's hardware, tracks, rollers, springs (by the way, because I selected them outright, Tim gave me the red hardware springs, and sealed bearing roller upgrade for free), and then carefully assembled to door, and hung the lift motor. They finished up on time, cleaned my new garage door of any grease or dirt that will inevitably happen during the assembly process, and then proceeded to show me how to use my new opener ( a belt-drive Liftmaster - soooo quiet and nice to hear! ). Before leaving, they double-checked clean-up of any nuts, bolts, etc, swept, and then asked me if I had any questions before leaving, and also re-assured me that they would answer anything that I might think of later. My door fell off the track with 3 rollers coming off one side and the cable got tangled on the other side. I called around And pro tech was able to come out within 30 mins for a free estimate. When they showed up they wore masks and kept a distance from me. They were able to determine that my door hit a 2x4 when closing and the 2x4 knocked the door off track. They were able to repair on the spot. They pointed out a few parts that I might want to replace but stressed that they didn't need to be replaced now and it was optional. Since they were already there I had them replace everything. I didn't shop around so I'm not sure where there pricing sits within the average price for the parts and labor but they were very professional, honest and I would give them a call again in the future for any repairs. Hopefully there won't be any more repairs. Payment was done contactless with me paying the invoice on my own cell phone. I recommend them. read more
