I first called to ask for a quote for a specific repair job for a specific car. They would not provide a quote over the phone as a couple of other shops did. They insisted I bring the car in for diagnosis, so at the appointed time I showed up with the car. After three hours of waiting, they provided a quote for the service I asked for that was ~50% higher than the next closest quote. They also did a 'courtesy inspection' which I did not ask for. This inspection resulted in 7 additional recommended items totaling about $1,800. Things like this fluid change, that cleaning, etc. The car has 300k miles on it, and the majority of these items have never been done. The experience reminds me of the slick marketing we get at the dealership repair shops, and is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by choosing a 'family-owned' shop. The actual work product may in fact be excellent; I don't know. But it is probably over priced.

Then a week ago today they told us the part just now came in and our truck will be done by the end of the week. It was not. When I ask to speak to the owner about this, I was hung up on, then they wouldn't answer the phone. Then when the owner finally did take my call he screamed at me for asking what part was ordered and demanded to know if I was a transmission expert since I wanted to know about parts. I asked because he kept telling us how hard it was to get a part. He then told me there were a lot of customers ahead of me, he didn't have an available lift to put our truck on, and was rude, demeaning and hateful, because I asked what part was ordered. He also told me that he has been in business for 40 years and doesn't need to look a car to diagnose transmission problems or know what parts to order. AVOID THESE GUYS AT ALL COSTS, unless you enjoy overpaying and waiting for weeks upon weeks to be lied to, yelled at, and pay thousands to pay someone else to fix what they "repaired" while paying even more money for a rental car while they hold yours hostage. I have filed complaints with BBB, the Florida Department of Agriculture, and The Florida Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General.

We talked at length about what I needed out of the transmission (longevity and rock-solid dependability) and he came up with a game plan for a fully-rebuilt, lightly modded transmission with an excellent aftermarket billet torque converter. I'm a seasoned gear-head myself, so it was refreshing to have a realistic, no BS discussion on the matter. My truck makes me money every day Sure, I could have done it myself, but time is money, and in this instance, it made a lot more sense to let them do it. They are the professionals, and have all of the equipment and experience to do it in a fraction of the time it would have taken me. The work was stellar, the price was fantastic and that beast has never run better. I am truly blown away at how good that transmission feels regularly hauling 8+ ton loads. He, his wife and staff just run a great business. You can tell by looking at the shop parking lot on any given day. The community trusts them, and so do I. When is the last time you heard anyone say that about a mechanic? They are just old-school, extremely knowledgeable guys who tell you the truth, which might be not necessarily what you want to hear, but definitely not what will make them the most money. Tommy could have tried to up-sell me on a variety of components or complete builds, but did not. I knew I needed the work done for some time and considered many different builds and upgrades. He talked me out of unnecessary upgraded components that I thought might help longevity, stating unequivocally that they were not necessary. Ultimately, they listen to you, work with your budget and what you want, but give you honest advice taking everything into consideration and let you decide what to do. Shut down completely in the middle of the Highway. This was a scared moment of my life. I called the tow truck company; Premier Towing and Transport, they with came less than 20 mins. I still can't believe they came that fast. I called Assured Auto and explained to JD what happened to my truck. I was heading home back to Tallahasee from vacation. JD told me to get the truck tow there. We got there at 2:35pm. They completed a full diagnostics. They noticed some bolts was loosen on my Alternator. They tighten it. They also noticed something no connection to the car giving out of power. JD suggested for me to go back to the Auto shop who completed the work because of warranty JD took picture of it and printed it out to give to the Shop. Truck was Tested drive it no more power issues. I was back on the road by 4:30pm. I'm so grateful for them to get me in and out so quickly. They also have Complementary varieties of soft drinks for their customers and when you leave, they write a personal note with a blow pop sucker. This was so sweet. With what's going on in the world, it's the small things like this can bring a big impact on someone's life. Again, super grateful. Best customer services I've received in years at an Auto Shop.
